Spent a fun Sunday afternoon here enjoying some drinks. It was very busy but the service was good. We didn’t eat but all the food looked good. Good music playing in the background and a great, lively atmosphere.

The staff are so amicable & you can even choose your own preferences rather than be obliged to accept the set menu. I award 5 STARS for great customer service & very good traditional fare.

We were staying in the Premier Inn up the road and hadn't booked breakfast so thought we'd give this a try and we weren't disappointed - I had a Sausage & Egg Sandwich and my Partner had a Sausage & Bacon and they were both delicious - the egg was perfectly cooked and my partner said the Bacon was lovely, the mugs of tea were good too. Infact it was so nice we went back the following day for the same. Its a proper cafe serving good food. We would definitely go back again if we were in the area.

We were staying down in Portsmouth for the bank holiday weekend, we had walked past this well presented cafe on our walks to the beach, the outside area has the old style pub benches with red and black umbrellas giving people the choice to either sit in the sun or in the shade, as well as the seating area inside, every time we walked past it seemed busy and people looked as though they were enjoying and soaking up the atmosphere of the busy cafe, We decided to eat here on the bank holiday Monday, well we wished we had every meal here, the service was second to none, they have a wide range of food to suit everyone as well as hot and cold drinks, We ordered 2 All day English breakfasts and 2 kids meals, we were informed there maybe a wait due to it being busy which is understandable seeing as the whole inside was packed as well as the benches outside, we were expecting a long wait but our meals come out in a reasonable time, the food was very well presented and piping hot and tasted amazing, the staff couldn't do enough for us ensuring that we had all the sauces we needed as well as cutlery and napkins. We really enjoyed our experience here and will 100% be returning! The only regret we have is that we didn't visit sooner!

Four of us visited Bank Holiday Monday, not many in the queue and soon they took my order. Was ready in about 15 minutes. I had the cheese burger or so I thought. It was the worse burger I have ever had in my life. It was quite obvious they brought the cheapest rusk burgers they could then sold them off as meat. I had two bites and that was enough. It was like chewing on cardboard.

We come across this cafe on our walk from the hotel to the seafront, after having a bad meal in Brewers fair we thought we would try this cafe and was pleasantly surprised. It was a busy lunchtime and there was a tall young boy serving, he was very attentive to all the customers and although our order was tricky and confusing he made sure he had wrote everything down, the manageress was cooking in the kitchen and although busy had everything under control, all the meals we saw come out looked very well presented. She was doing a grand job at managing the cafe and all staff were very respectful and doing what had been asked. I love to see young people make a go of things in life and all the time this young lady is managing the cafe then it will be a successful one! The food was amazing and not something you expect from a cafe, they're are plenty of options to suit whether your wanting a big meal, a snack, or a light bite. Will defiantly be returning on our yearly trip to Portsmouth and have recommended this place to our daughter who is visiting on business very soon. Keep up the hard work and well done.

We were staying at the nearby Premier Inn. After using the attached Brewers Fayre the first night and found it a shambles we tried the Big Wheel for breakfast the next day and enjoyed it to the extent that we took breakfast and dinner there for the remaining days of our stay Monday - Wednesday. The food range isn't fantastic but its of good enough quality and the prices are favourable. On the Tuesday evening we told the manager that we would be in as usual the next morning for breakfast. He said he would be away but members of his family would be there to serve us. On the Wednesday morning I ordered "beans on toast and a mug of tea twice" The lad took two mugs and put a tea bag in each and then filled them from the urn (as usual). He stirred the bags in the water but I noticed the water was not becoming very tea-coloured. After a while he asked if it was strong enough - I said "no, what is the matter with the tea bags - are you re-using them? I put my hand on the mug and it was STONE COLD! I said "Its cold" and he said, "Oh the urn isn't switched on". He then went off with both mugs and I was half expecting him to put them in a microwave (as done in the film Muriel's Wedding) but he emptied them in the sink and came back, put in more tea bags and filled both from another urn (which was hot). He then rang up the bill on the register and it came to £5.40. I said "It should be £8.40 - 2 teas at £1.20 each and 2 beans on toast at £3 each = £8.40" He said "you want 2 beans on toast? I said "Yes, that was what I ordered". Anyway, when the beans on toast arrived they were cold. It was as if they expected the heat of the toast to warm them! I asked for them to be heated in a microwave. This was done and they were fine thereafter. In summary – you get what you pay for but check you are getting what you ordered.

I had the big one......that's a set breakfast and my counterpart had the English. Both meals were hot and very well cooked sausages a little too cooked and they tried to accommodate my fussy egg syndrome and almost got it right. The tea was brewed just right but the cups could have been cleaner! Overall I would rate just above average and would use this cafe again.

Decent enough food and reasonably priced though the seating is somewhat tired and accompanied by an odd smell (all three children with us commented) though probably due to tell gas fire. However they all ate their food and ours too was fine. Must say the bangers and mash with onion gravy on a nearby table looked nice. And it's got to be better than Wimpy, right?

We had a couple of salads here, both were accompanied by quite vinegary items such as pickled cabbage and beetroot, the tuna was mixed with something that made it quite sloppy and not very attractive to look at but despite it's appearance it tasted okay. Prawn salad was okay but if you don't like too much dressing then ask beforehand otherwise it's drenched. Overall sounds a bit negative but it's fairly cheap and I suspect the fried food is better than the salads. Nice tea.

A small and friendly cafe only two minutes walk from the Premier Inn in Southsea. We used this cafe for our breakfast while staying at the Premier Inn. The staff are pleasant, happy and obliging and willing to adapt the breakfast menu to whatever you require. Very reasonably priced with quick service and large portions. Well worth a visit if in the area, whether for breakfast, lunch or just a snack. The cafe opens at 8.30 a.m. so is ideal if you don't want the hassle (or cost) of a Brewers Fayre breakfast when staying at the Premier Inn. Can't recommend it highly enough.

This is the first time i have participated in eating in Pret A Manger. I found there to be a very limited selection for vegans and the prices were extortionate. In additon to the already extortionate pricings, the additional inclusive pricing for sitting in was just insult to injury! At the prices youre already charging, sitting in should be a given and not extra! If youre going to charge such extortionate prices for seating then at least make sure the seats you are charging for are well maintained and not like something someone found in a dumpster! The food was average for a sandwich shop yet they charge restaurant prices. I wont be going there again!

We visited this morning for breakfast. We ordered 1 egg & bacon sandwich, 3 croissants, a tea, hot chocolate and an orange juice. It cost £17.40. The drinks came out quite quickly which was fine. We then waited nearly 30 mins for the sandwich and 3 croissants! The sandwich came out toasted for some reason. I said I would eat it so don’t worry after she blankly at me. It took another 16 mins for the croissants to arrive. Now fair enough we did ask for 2 of them to be warmed up, but when 2 came out warmed up and no sign of the other one for yet another 10 mins. My husband politely asked her why it was taking so long for the last croissant to come out. Her answer was I wanted all the food to come out at once (failed at that one)!! She then said with a total attitude “ I’ve only got one pair of hands you know”. She then came back and chucked the plate on the table and walked off!!! If they don’t want to be a cafe then don’t be. Save your attitude and comments to yourselves! The customer isn’t always right. But when you get attitude and a stupid waiting time and then the order is wrong. Politeness never hurts from the staff! When the locals tell you to avoid the place your best off listening to them! Oh well lesson learned!!!

Only paper cups, no plates, no salt, no coke, loud music, unfriendly staff. I wondered why it was almost empty on a warm and sunny day. Now I know. Avoid. It’s worth waiting for a table in any other cafe in Portsmouth.
