We have been using this Indian for about 10 years and we always had a good experience with both dining and eating in but it seems to have gotten so bad recently.... The service is awful, that's if you can actually get hold of them. We paid for the curry to the delivery driver and they phoned up twice asking us to pay them!! Shame the food is always nice.

The service was really poor. When we asked for a drink, a can was dumped in front of us without opening. We were then issued the bill before asking for it, even though we were considering desert. We felt like we were being pushed out just because some other customers came in. When we complained we got no apology.

It's a shame , the food isn't bad but their service is abysmal and they're pretty rude. We had a meal here a few months back and it took well over an hour for our food to be served. Not once did they apologise or explain why the wait was so long. I could hear other customers complaining about the same issue. Last night we tried to get a table at 9:30pm and they refused to seat us saying that the table hadn't been set up. The restaurant was half empty and they had many tables available but just didn't seem to want to bother putting a few knives and forks down to make it ready. I wondered if it was because they were closing soon but their opening hours state that they're open until 11:30pm. It's very strange, almost as if they actively don't want customers.

So this evening my daughter went to get us a takeaway, quite a big order and when arrived back home the poppadoms were missing. What is the use of the mint sauce without the poppadoms? So I phoned them and said she was having to drive back to collect them and they said they had not been ordered! I was cross as they had and said they would not be paid for again. When she arrived there it took a minute to bring them out to my daughter. She brought them home and we all started to eat our meal. The poppadoms were disgusting! Bendy and Not sure if re dipped in burnt oil or what they did to them but they were put in the bin! The moral off this story is not to phone and complain that something was missing from your order.... never again! The food in itself was passable but not as good as it used to be .. time to try somewhere else

Over the years have had a fair few Indian meals around the world/country. Moved to Deal/Sandwich area last year and found The Bengal Spice not so long ago. We have found the food to be good in a traditional style Indian/English Restaurant. The staff are polite particularly a very gentle man that served us mid-week one time. We have visited a few times now and enjoyed all our meals every time. We will return again and will bring friends too when visiting us. Thank you to the staff.

Came into the restaurant on a Wednesday evening, surprised that there’s not a lot of people because this restaurant should be packed out because of how delicious and authentic the food is. Ordered a Chicken Madras with Pilau Rice and a side of Saag Aloo. Literally, the best Indian I’ve had. Food was very flavoursome and the service is top notch. If you want an authentic Indian experience, then the Bengal Spice is the place where you should go.

We dropped in on a wet Saturday evening. They had a table for the two of us and a few to spare. We fancied something simple so we ordered four popadoms and two meat thalis. The popadoms were warm, the flavours in the thalis were good and the portions just right. I can’t remember whether it was Cobra or Kingfisher on draft but it slipped down easily. We might have been a bit frustrated by the speed of the service if we had been in a hurry, but it didn’t matter. I’d happily go back.

Food was not too bad, but service had no heart. I ordered a Curry. It did not come with any rice, Just a bowl with meat and sauce. When I asked they told me I did not order it. They could have pointed it out when taking the order. "Rice costs extra" Well then, get me some! Other meals, Biryani, was served from a throwaway tin foil. Then overturned on a plate at the table. So you have this brick of food on your plate, coming straight from the microwave. Again, the spices were good, but overasl experience is not worth eating there.

Wouldn’t return here as several of the dishes were too sweet and just didn’t seem quality. Some of the sauces were so sweet that they seemed more like desert. It really put me off, I don’t need sugar in my dinner. It was empty inside and we had to keep asking for water as they kept forgetting to bring it. Out of the dozen dishes that we shared. I enjoyed the lamb pasanda and the tarka dall, the rest had a fault of some sort, shame.

Food ordered waiter very serious didn't chat or make you feel that welcome. He was efficient and ran the restaurant on his own. Didn't see anyone else serving. Food was tasty I had tandoori mixed grill hardly any chicken on the leg must have been the smallest chicken ever, and it was dry. Went for a meal recently but unfortunately it seems that we went on a distinctly 'off' night. The pickles with poppadom were very watery (watering down mango chutney is a real low in money saving) and service was incredibly slow considering the restaurant was barely half full. An hour between ordering and food arrival. They had 'mistaken' our lamb order for cheap chicken & although a replacement was offered we couldn't wait any longer. A pricey king prawn dish, just shy of £14, contained four prawns and a side dish was returned as strangely inedible through being full of sugar. An exact replica came as a replacement. I have eaten here previously and it has been ok but our bill was over £100 for a distinctly uninspiring meal; we will not be returning- there are far better Indian restaurants in Deal.

Our family have been going to the Bengal regularly for many years. We meet many regular customers there, that have become friends. The staff too are very friendly and welcoming. The menu covers all the standards you expect to see, but there are more dishes on the take-away menu which they are happy to cook in the restaurant. When we dine with friends they order items "off menu" which again are cooked, no problem. We often ask for dishes to be made hotter or milder to taste.Sometimes when it is busy there is a wait - after all dishes are cooked fresh and also in the order they come into the kitchen. TIP - if a big party has just sat down, get your order in first! I see comments that the waiters are sulky, but we have never found that to be the case, we find them chatty and often spend time at the end of the evening chatting about their family or they show us pictures of visits home.We really like it :)

We have ordered from here for years, and the food is great, but recently the service has been horrific! We have been appalled on each occasion that our delivery has been either extremely late, in excess 40 minutes over the hour they originally stated that it would!d take!!! On tonights occasion, 1 hour 30 of waiting, our order never arrived. When phoning in, the have clearly forgotten our order with no intention of delivery...but instead they lie. We are regular customers, and keep an eye out for the delivery! We waited all day for food, so having not eaten since 10, this is completely and utterly unacceptable! I will never go here again! Been to this restaurant several times. The food is acceptable, but nothing special. My biggest comment is the time it takes to get your food. I am sad to review this Indian restaurant as being one of the worst meals I have ever had....We had a table reserved for New Years Eve, but upon arrival the staff appeared chaotic and not helpful at all. We felt like we were an inconvenience and waited over an hour for our food whilst the take away orders were flooding out the door. Staff were not observant, did not apologise for the delay in our food arriving upon which, when it did, was distinctly average. We were made to feel quite uncomfortable and staff were miserable which when spending £70 on a meal for two is not nice at all.Atmosphere was poor, tableware was poor, basically one of the worst meals out in 2016. We paid £14 for my fish curry which was distinctly average and I could have cooked better at home.Sorry for this to be so scathing but was really a bad experience and will never return!

The flavours are exceptional, the spices perfectly blended and the quality of meat excellent. The meal for two was delicious, with a thoughtfully prepared menu. There were several other special options too, apart from an interesting a la carte menu.I thoroughly enjoy Indian food and can say with conviction that it is my favourite cuisine. I have eaten and enjoyed meals for about 50 years in countless locations and have no qualms in saying that the Bengal Spice offers a very high standard of food which was really enjoyable to the last bite.

We've tried all the Indian eateries and takeaway and this is best. We've eaten several times and each time the dishes are obviously cooked fresh and no grease/oil like many. This time had prawn puri and chicken tikka starters then chicken jalfrezi and dopiazza. Really aromatic. Sauces not a homogenous slop like many. Since moving to Deal the others are v old fashioned with high use of food colourings and all made out of basic sauce with re heated ingredients. Not so the Bengal Spice.

First things first, the food at this place is very good. Please ensure if you are ordering poppadoms as part of a delivery meal, that you remember to asked for the spices/chutneys/sauces that go with them. We didn't when we ordered a takeaway. Why not? Because EVERY Indian restaurant in Great Britain provides them with the poppadoms. So the take away arrives in good time and the delivery person is lovely and friendly. As we unpack we see that they have "forgotten" to pack the chutneys/sauces etc. No worries, a quick phone call will no doubt rectify the situation, and this is were it went all wrong. On making the call and speaking to Jay, he made it very clear that we hadn't ordered the accompaniments. It was explained that we had ordered curries from them before and never had to order them separately before, he stated that this couldn't be the case as they come separately. He wasn't prepared to offer and resolution so the manager was asked for in order to make a complaint, to which have response was "I don't care, you make your complaint". Such a shame over a couple of pounds worth if accompaniments.

4 of us came here for a family birthday on a quiet Monday. There was only one other table using them. There were two waiters, an older gentleman who was very attentive and friendly however this was overshadowed by the young man who was very rude. When our food arrived, a couple of items were missing and when we asked the young waiter, he was very stroppy about having to go back to the kitchen and didn't once come to check we were ok etc. He seemed to want to ignore any type of contact with us. The food was average, some parts were really nice however we were greeted by stale popadoms and overcooked lamb. The starters were nice and portion size was good. We asked for doggy bags of all remaining food, the waiter seemed offended by this and when we returned home we found that he had only put in the rice and naan. All meat and sides were left in the restaurant. Finally when paying for the bill, he snatched the card machine off my mother and when we said goodbye, he refused to acknowledge us. It took over 15 minutes for us to be asked if we wanted a drink and poppadum's. We then waited another 30 minutes for the waiter to take our main meal order. We had a query about one item on the menu and the waiter said he didn't know what it was and didn't go and find out. We arrived at 7pm and it was gone 8.30 by the time our meal arrived. I went here as a change from the other sit down indian in Deal, Milaads which consistently provides good food and service.Which I am sorry to say was not my experience of the Bengal Diner. The tables were tightly packed to get the maximum number of people in. However on this evening it was just my family of 6 and another table of 4. We had to move the tables around ourselves so we could sit together the staff just stood and watched. Whilst moving the furniture my mother observed that both the table cloths and cutlery could do with being cleaner bo However the service once seated was polite, if over attentive, bordering on intrusive. Probably making amends for not helping us move tables. The menu was the usual Indian fare and the specials were uninspiring. The food itself was bland with every dish having the same taste with varying degrees of heat, probably due to a curry heavy being used with Xtra chillies yoghurt etc being added to change the taste. Rice sides were excellent.Overall ok if you've had a skin full of lager and have the late night munchies, but if you want a decent standard sit down meal this is not for you. Go to Millaads or get a takeaway from Saffron

The meal could of been hotter but the reason l have marked it down was if you are seated the wall side it is very difficult because the shape of the seat means there is no room between the table leg and the width of the chair means to get in you have to pull the table out to the aisle .They had not been tested as to working with the space available. If you needed to get out during the meal it causes a major upheaval. Also there was two other tables taken 10 people were served before us.We got our drinks over 1 hour later we got a starter and all the main meals together which was not ideal. We think it took so long because they were probably busy with takeaway orders. This left a disappointing meal out and has put us off going back.

This 'curry house' is one of the oldest in town and over the years we have used many time. However, the last couple of times we have been several of us have come down with 'curry tummy'. A real shame because the staff are friendly and the food portions are good. Will we be brave enough to try again...yeah I expect so.

We ordered our to be delivered takaway food for 2 as celebration of exam results. Sadly, it would have been quicker to walk as it took well over 1hr for food to arrive ( we had to phone to chase) & we live less than 10mins walk away! Food was just 'ok' & not particularly hot & given it was for 2 the heafty £38 bill was not value for money & we won't be repeating experience!

We tried this restaurant on Saturday night, although my friend had had 2 not very nice takeaways we thought we would give it a try. The food was very tasty and served very well. The only thing I would say was that there did not appear to be a lot of chicken in my dish and not a lot of lamb in my friends, it was packed however with onions! nice if you like them, not if you don.t. Definitely think there should have been more of the main ingredient. but definitely would go back

We had a delicious meal - the food was excellent and really tasty. However, unfortunately the member of staff who was waiting on our table was very unfriendly, and quite rude really. Never cracked a smile, dumped the cutlery down on the table, didn't know which dishes were which when he served them, and seemed to spend more time on his phone that attending to the restaurant. However, as I said the food was really delicious so that made up for it!

When visiting Walmer we decided on a curry one evening and used Trip Advisor to find somewhere locally.Service was good . Curry was ok Chicken chilli tikka masala and chicken jalfrezi with some naan breadsPortions a good size but meat was a little 'dry' so possibly cooked in advance and heated upGood meal worth visiting if you fancy a curry but do not expect to be wowed

Would recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice curry on a Friday night (... or any other day of the week). Really generous portions. 4/5 because popadums tasted like they'd been cooked in old oil, otherwise all tasty. Will be back for sure.

I love to eat out and the Indian cuisine is my favourite. On the other hand my husband really doesn't, however, he will make an exception with this restaurant. Hubby is retired now but he was a chef by trade and felt he didn't need to check the 'opposition' because nobody was serving the sort of food which he produced. Out and about I've heard what the local population think; some good, some poor. For myself I have found the waiting staff very accommodating with unerring manners at all times. On to the food then; For a long time I was a member of The Curry Club who listed this restaurant as one of the very best for the county. Without being too specific I have never had a less than wonderful meal at The Bengal Spice, Deal, what I haven't done is eat 'authentic' Indian food in the country of origin that's on my agenda at some point. All in all I would travel to eat here based on the quality of service and range of the food available. Some may say it's basic and so it may be but the prices reflect this. 10/10*

Good curry without the frills... If you compare to any curry house this place you won't go wrong with...and no reaction the next day!

Went to this Indian for first time a few weeks prior with work colleagues. Went back with my Family early on a Friday evening. Was not too busy and the food was great. Reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is light/airy and clean. Nice spot on the seafront too. Parking was free and easy at the time we went. I'm told service can be hit/miss if the restaurant is busy with take-away orders but it was fine this particular Friday evening.

We have visited a few times, and find it very nice to have nearby. Food is good, traditional stuff, with no surprises. Service is friendly and helpful, though it is fair to say focus seems to be on takeaway. Which is odd as the restaurant is very pleasant and decorated in modern seaside shades, which makes for a good ambience.

am local and have visited on several occasions as it is convenient, but I do think for anyone visiting our lovely town of Deal and looking for places to eat, it would be fair to comment that this is very average. The service is not as high as you would normally get in an Indian restaurant and the food is good but not anything special.

Had a meal with friends on 17th Jan. Food was excellent but we had to wait quite a while for it. Seemed to be more interest in takeaway s.Would definitely eat there again as the food and service eventually was good.

Poor communication !!! We have ordered a takeaway every week from this place for the last 4 months obviously with both of us the price is around £22 but the other half is away for the night so I've ordered just my meal I asked for the price and was told £12.25 knowing I ordered something extra than I normally do, I asked the price and confirmed no mention of delivery charge my meal then turned up 20 minutes later than they said at the price of £15.50 they didn't tell me the delivery charge on top unfortunately I only had £13 in money on me and wouldn't except cheque so I had to turn my dinner away now sitting here waiting for a pizza starving

We arrived here looking to have a Saturday night curry. We had to wait 10 minutes for a table even though there were a few empty tables. There only appeared to be 2 members of staff on duty and were running round trying to take phone orders and serve diners. We were given menus and asked if we wanted popudum and drinks. The popudum were chewy and stale tasting and it was at this point we noticed that no one appeared to be eating just waiting. The table next to us then told us they had been waiting over an hour and a half for their meals. This to us is NOT acceptable service so we paid and left. Poor quality service and a long wait to starvation awaits you.6

Saffron Deal - delicious, authentic Indian cuisine. Every mouthful was fabulous! Chicken Monsuri is my husbands favourite dish and is a must. The biryani was light and fluffy with loads of chicken tikka and the lamb rogan josh was tender and plentiful. Not forgetting the huge onion bhajis - Thank you to Naz and the team for awesome food!

My wife fancied an Indian cuisine, so we searched around and found this hidden little gem, prices are slightly on the pricey side, however they make up for that in quality, the food was cooked to perfection, I got a pasanda with pilau rice and my wife got a lamb bhuna with pilau rice, two normal naans, two garlic naans, two pishwari naans, and a coke, came to over 50 kwid but got 20 percent off so paid around £35, they have all you can eat buffets on Sundays so I will return to try that out soon. Highly recommend 👌 very nice thank you
