Called in and spent a pleasant evening chatting with the locals and the staff. Very friendly and helpful and it bieng dog friendly was an added bonus. Food was well prepared and presented and arrived piping hot and plentiful. Well, it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

A proper country inn! Walk in and there is a lovely country pub atmosphere. Welcoming staff. The food was sooooo good! Big portions, good quality produce and delicious!

What a quaint village pub...the staff are friendly, the food is awesome with good positions too. I recommend going here...has a rear garden and front seated area for those who like to watch the world go by.

10 of us dined at The bell inn Shenington, the staff and the chef was absolutely amazing. The food was the best meal we had in years, the chef went far beyond our expectations. The staff and service was brilliant too, everyone could not do enough for us. There was 10 of us dining and all our starters came together, main courses came together and not long after, our desserts came together. This is the way it should be and The Bell Inn does it all. The greatest Sunday dinner I have ever had!

We had an absolutely incredible meal here as a group of 12 and the chef catered for us brilliantly with everything arriving at the same time to an amazing standard including all of our annoying dietary requirement tweaks. Amazing food.

Superb pub for a meal, friendly staff and a lovely picturesque village setting. Our mains (Haddock and Chips, Burgers and a Lamb Kebab) were cooked absolutely perfectly and well worth the price! We’d recommend dropping in if you’re passing!

Lovely quiet village pub great food

We had the most wonderful dinner on Friday, one of the best steaks i've ever had, lovely beer selection, lovely ales, lovely staff and we even got a lift home at the end. Can't wait to visit again. Louisa x

Visited on a friday lunchtime on a whim as had passed the pub a few times and always liked the look of it. Superb food. Seriously cannot fault it. Really appealing menu and it was all delicious. Big portions and fresh ingredients. Friendly staff and the food service was efficient. Fab little place and we will definitely be back!

Nice meal. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food tasted good. Korean pork belly was a hit with my daughter and the piri piri prawns were great.

We stopped here for lunch a couple of weeks ago, charming lovely pub with friendly service. The food was absolutely exceptional, I had the Katsu burger which was amazing! Such a a gem of a pub, can’t wait to return! Just wish it was my local!

Visited this pub for a private function, very busy, staff worked very hard to keep up with customers orders. All staff very friendly. Food was arranged excellent, curry with all the trimmings, very tasty.

Typical village pub with the added bonus of fabulous food rather than basic pub fayre out of a fryer or bag. Go for Sunday roast or dinners Wednesday-Saturday and you'll not be disappointed. Sit inside by a log fire in winter or outside under the oak tree or on the village green.

Thank you for an absolutely delicious Mothers Day Sunday Roast. The meal was spot on! Lovely big portions, the beef perfectly cooked and plenty of extra gravy which went down a treat. The staff were fantastic and deserve a mention. Fully recommended and we will definitely be coming back again.

Beautiful village with The Bell Inn at its centre. On a 7 mile walk from Upton house, NT, no sandwiches but good traditional pub menu. Lovely small bar and eating area with warm welcome from young man behind bar. We had scampi with freshly made pea puree and tartar sauce, just delicious and the burger meal, great taste and quality. Defo visit again. Closed on Mondays. Do Sunday lunch but really need to book that. Super find.

Food was absolutely amazing, but the wait to be served and for food to come out was longer than expected. The quality of the food did make up for it though.

Wow, randomly popped in to this lovely little pub only to find the food to be absolutely fantastic. Met the Scottish Chef who should be proud of his dishes. Simply amazing. Lovely little covered courtyard setting out the back makes this an ideal stop if you are in the area whatever the weather. Thanks for looking after us :-)

Recommended to us by Hornton Grounds, fantastic place and amazing food the scampi literally melted in your mouth, wonderful. And biscoff cheesecake in a coffee cup with fresh strawberries, well and truly stuffed thank you. Staff very friendly too.

An absolute jewel of a pub. The lightest floatiest fish and chip batter I’ve ever had, and one of the best places in the area to experience Hook Norton ales at their glorious best.

Absolutely fantastic. The food is amazing and the price is very good. The serving staff are friendly and with the outdoor seating because of covid were happy to provide take out containere for dessert and drinks when we got too cold to stay. We will be back when we are in the area next month.

Fantastic local pub. Very small, so book or get there early if you want to eat. The chicken kebab and burger are really good. The apple and cinnamon crumble with custard is to die for!

We stopped here for lunch on our walk from Upton House. It's nice and cosy with friendly service. The food was delicious. We had fish and chips and the grilled chicken kebab was amazing. Highly recommend.

Stumbled upon this haven whilst out mountain biking. They were great, very welcoming as I was a single woman with two children. Topped up mine and my children's water bottles too! Returning next week with my Mum.

Excellent food and staff, lovely atmosphere, they allow dogs in which is nice and a fantastic setting in a lovely village. The only downside is the wine is very expensive (£30 for a reasonable merlot) but we had a lovely night.

We visited this little pub in the lovely village of Shennington for Sunday lunch. Great pub very warm welcome serving local beers and cider. We had battered fish and beef - cost with two drinks and tip £45 totally worth it meal was fantastic!! If you are in the area definately give this pub a go.

I love this pub. I’ve been coming here for many years and since Jen and Mickey took over it’s been a firm favourite.

Possibly my favourite village pub ever, I stumbled upon it when I first moved to the area and needed a place with an appealing sounding menu for a family Sunday lunch. The food is incredibly tasty (chips to die for), and they like to mix things up with unusual twists that always turn out to be excellent... even the bread they bring out for appetisers is so good I'd buy it by the loaf. And the chorizo bite bar snacks are addictive! One of our party was vegetarian and was delighted when the chef offered to make up anything she fancied if nothing on the menu caught her eye - they just want you to enjoy your visit and will accommodate whatever they can with a smile, so I'm not sure how anyone has written negative reviews?

A genuinely warm welcome, great beer, and possibly the best chips I have ever experienced, the whitebait was also brilliant along with the chicken wings, squid and all the stuff that we chose from the bar snacks menu. Bar snacks menus do not get any better than this. Will definitely hit the mains next time.

I don’t know why it’s so hard to get decent pub food in a pub. The menu is compact and a bit fussy at the same time. My partner had the fish and chips served in a paper bag. Why? Just use a bloody plate. I had steak, which was pretty good. But the sauce was a little miserly as were the over cooked chips. I think I could have counted the number of chips on two hands. Sadly, we won’t be back in a hurry.

A bit pricy. £7.20 for 2 cokes (halves) and a tiny mixer sized ginger beer. No water so the only toilet didn't flush.

The Bell at Shenington, on the rim of the famous Edge Hill battlefields is a gem that we have missed despite living three miles away for the past four years. We tried once to have a meal just under two years ago as a halfway mark on a walk but was told it had changed hands and had no licence. Our village history group had their annual dinner here last evening and we had one of the best three course meals of 2017. A young team to greet us and a chef who has a passion for producing exciting challenging menus using local ingredients. A number of us plan another visit early in the New Year. Great portions, interestingly presented dishes and excellent value for money. Plus a very good wine list.

Had lunch for a belated birthday celebration. The food was excellent and I have not tasted such wonderful fish for many a long day. Nice restaurant with good service and everything we had was cooked beautifully. Good 2 or 3 course set lunch menu. Will definitely return.

As a supper club coordinator, I can fully recommend The Bell Inn Shenington, as a great venue for events! Mike as his team served us well in a recent visit. The ribs, and other dishes, were first class.

La comida estuvo estupenda de verdad.

El pub era muy acogedor y un maravilloso lugar para comer. La comida era excelente. Cuatro de nosotros tenía platos diferentes (incluyendo un plato vegetariano) y no podríamos calificar lo suficiente. Las hamburguesas eran enormes, el pescado y el plato de ensalada de excelente comida vegetariana muy sabrosa.

Volvimos a la campana, esta vez para el almuerzo, y encontramos que la comida y el servicio, una vez más, excepcional. Nuestros amigos disfrutaron del pescado tradicional muy bien cocinados y patatas fritas y yo tenía las costillas, eran excelentes. La salsa era muy sabrosa y las costillas estaban con mucha carne y muy pequeñas - no chatarra estaba en los huesos! Fue servido con repollo y patatas fritas picantes asiáticas que son demasiado moro! Mi esposa tenía la mejillones que dijo eran abundantes, de buen tamaño y muy bien preparado. Toda la comida era imposible de criticar y no dudo en recomendar este pub lo suficiente.

Lovely little village pub with seating outside on a small green. Inside is modern but tastefully done and very cosy. The eating area again very nicely done but not many tables but don't let this put you off although menu small the food is excellent (recommend the rack of ribs). Do book as we went early week evening I should imagine weekend will book up quickly. And of course bar staff very pleasant.

Now under new management with a local lady returning home with a paragon of a chef to take up residence in her former village. It is small by modern standards but serves a variaty of beers, strong on flavour. There is a proper dining room but eating in the bar is just as cosy and it is dog friendly. There is a limited menu which some might view as a criticism, it is not, each choice on the menu is perfectly balance and the taciturn chef is a constrast to the bubbling hostess but over a series of visits with my Obergruppen fuhrer and have been sampling the various choices and thus far, on four trips, we have never been disappointed. In practice the charm of the chef when he chooses to appear matches the quality of the cooking. Service is not always the quickest but that is acceptable when the food that is presented has you salivating after the first mouthful. The residents of Shennington are blessed with this little gem.

Lovely pub with friendly staff, but £10 for a small Diet Coke and a 175 mil glass of white wine......really?

We visited the Bell for a family meal and it was quite simply superb. The selection of ales and wines is broad and high quality and the food was outstanding. Our two boys, who have spent a long holiday in the US, still said the burger was the best they have ever tasted and my mother said exactly the same about the Scampi she enjoyed. My baby back ribs were incredibly tasty with the meat cooked to perfection just falling off the bone. The vegetarian option proved equally impressive and finally the steak was 'melt in the mouth' fabulous and was cooked exactly to the 'medium' specified. The asian slaw that accompanied the ribs was really crisp and flavourful. We can't comment on dessert as we were all replete from the mains but would heartily recommend this cosy, friendly pub for a meal you won't forget.

The food was absolutely delicious - our steaks were very tender, very juicy and full of flavour - among the best steaks I've ever eaten. The ambience of The Bell is just lovely - warm, welcoming and friendly and the service is outstanding.

We were aware this small village pub had been taken over by new people and we were not disappointed. The starters were delicious. The mains arrived- steak, burgers & rack of ribs. All meals were good sized portions and presented well. Lovely atmosphere and smiley staff. Thank you for a lovely early evening meal, we hope to dine here again soon.

The Bell has become a firm favourite since Jen and Mike took it over last year. The menu, which varies from the usual pub grub always has us spoilt for choice. For instance the Asian Style Broth highlighted on the website tastes even better than it looks. Last nights meals we enjoyed included Moule, which were huge and juicy, octopus and the beer battered haddock and chips. All were beautifully cooked as ever and very tasty. Portion sizes are always generous and the food is very good value.

We had an excellent dinner, with attentive service, superb food, and the wine mark-up is conservative. They even do not add a "suggested service surcharge" . Long may they thrive

Friendly, efficient service with tastey food. A very popular country pub with locals at the bar as well as many taking Sunday lunch. It's a good sign when the locals support their pub in this way. Thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday Roast. ....The beef was rare as requested and I do not like to comment adversely but the chef might appreciate the view as I'm sure he has cooked it more tender on other occasions. Cannot fault the roasties and trimmings, there was loads. Everything else was great, calamari, moules, rack of ribs.... etc. O! btw, the Hookey was spot on! Other drinks and overall cost was good value.

Its tempting to try and put people off this wonderful local pub... as a resident of the village I want to keep it just for us lucky people... however that wouldn't be fair to Jen and Micky who run a great pub, with really good food too. well worth a visit!
