A Disheartening Departure from Excellence I visited this Deli with high expectations, having previously experienced its beautiful atmosphere, delectable food, and superb service. Unfortunately, my second visit left me utterly disappointed. The food fell far short of the excellence we enjoyed last time, and the service, to put it mildly, was exceptionally unfriendly. Regrettably, I found myself unable to voice my concerns during the meal, as I was with friends whom I respected too much to disrupt our gathering. It's disheartening to witness such a decline in quality, and I must admit that, despite my initial positive experiences, I won't be returning to this establishment. PS: Unfortunately, I do not have any picture of my second visit (

My parents came over to visit me in London and because it is their 40th wedding anniversary me and my girlfriend invited them for a dinner which we decided to have in Old Town Deli. This was the best decision we could make. We ordered charcuterie board, cheese board, duck liver parfait, patatas bravas, arancini and had some wine. Together with live jazz music night, this was some brilliant evening we've had and we all absolutely loved it! Thank you to the whole Old Town Deli team for a great evening! We will definitely be coming back.

Gorgeous restaurant on Devonshire Road in Chiswick. We’ve been for brunch a few times and also for the evening menu. Both are great. The food is delicious and there’s a great wine list. Nice cocktails with brunch, too. The guy who owns it is the chef and he’s really friendly - loves dogs! Recommend if you’re ever in Chiswick for the markets on a Sunday or book for Friday nights. The live music is fun.

Service was good as were drinks, and staff are friendly , cafe looks nice . Chef needs some work unfortunately, we ordered breakfast - one dish came out about 5 mins before the other, which you just don’t do . scrambled eggs were not scrambled well and had lumps of egg white rather than being mixed before cooking. Shame :(

I am ashamed to say that I only discovered this place yesterday having previously been totally unaware of its existence! And what a lovely, unique little place it is! It is run by the loveliest and most friendliest of folk and has a real tangible character and charm which you don't often find at other eateries. And as for their Hot Chocolate (Black Forest Gateau Hot Chocolate nonetheless) it ought to be LEGENDARY! Have never tasted such a scrumptious Hot Chocolate - ever. Have been meaning to go in for a while after reading the gret comments here and after hearing the praise heaped upon the place from all and sundry in town. Did not disappoint. - Great tasting, HUGE sandwich - I had the chicken and chorizo but was tempted by several other things on the menu as well as special on display. - Atmosphere as friendly and warm as I have ever experienced (just higgledy-piggledy enough to be eclectic without being jumbled)- Service was quick and friendly, listening to them deal with others it was clear they are a regular stop for many, accommodating to favourites and newcomers alike. Top notch place if you are in Banbury and looking for a lunch that will satisfy without weighing you down. Though, those pastries looked tempting enough to consider getting weighed down.

After finding this cafe on trip advisor and reading the excellent reviews I thought we would give it a try. It's a cosy cafe to say the least with so much going on in there! I like to feel the establishment is kept spotlessly clean if I am eating in there and this didn't give me that impression. I'm not saying their hygiene is poor, but the decor is old and mismatched and felt unclean. But it's only my opinion some people might consider it quaint! The food we had was fine no problem. Average for your money in the town. But it is a 5-10 minute walk from the shopping mall and there are no toilet facilities. I have to say my friend and I both left disappointed.

From the outside, the Swan Inn might appear to be a simple village pub, but step inside, and you’re in for an extraordinary experience. Upon entering, we were immediately impressed by the open view of the professional kitchen, where chefs could be seen meticulously preparing dishes. It was clear right away that this was not just another gastro pub. We were warmly welcomed and seated, and our waiter, Joe, guided us through the menu with care and clarity. His thoughtful explanations made choosing our dishes an enjoyable experience. Before our starters arrived, we were treated to freshly baked bread served with two types of butter: honey and malt. The combination was sensational and set the tone for what was to come. For starters, I had the venison, which was incredibly tender – it melted with a single fork stroke. The flavours were perfectly balanced, allowing the venison to truly shine. A delightful surprise was the inclusion of two mini onion rings, lightly battered and utterly delicious. My wife opted for the burrata, complemented by a delicate candied orange peel. It was a brilliant pairing, and we’ve already decided to replicate it at home. For mains, I had the rib-eye steak, cooked to a flawless medium-rare. The quality was outstanding – a well-hung steak that true steak lovers will immediately recognize as exceptional. My wife chose the Thai curry, which was a masterclass in balance. Unlike many other curries, this one wasn’t overwhelmed by cream; instead, the fresh, fragrant ingredients took centre stage. If The Swan Inn were located in a more densely populated area, I have no doubt it would be booked out weeks in advance. It’s a hidden gem that delivers in every way. We loved every second and will absolutely be returning. Five stars, without a doubt.
