Set in the small village of Ash, I have always loved this pub. It's where I first ventured out into the grown-up world of pubs, so I am going to be slightly biased. It has had many landlords over the many years I've been going here, and the current owner and staff are amongst the very best. I can't speak about the food, but the pub has a real, local feel which is becoming quite difficult to find these days. A good selection of well-kept beers helps of course.

Went to Scotland on coach holiday and made friends with a couple from Martock and a couple from Blandford , Dorset . We arranged for all six of us to meet up for a catch up and the lovely couple from Martock recommended the Bell pub in Ash for Sunday roast . Nice warm pub with a nice feel about it and lovely friendly staff including the lovely waitress Casi . Now the food , well i cannot fault it in any way , i had roast beef that was lovely and tender , came with roast potatoes , Yorkshire pudding , stuffing , leeks , cabbage , cauliflower cheese , carrots , broccoli , mashed swede . The plate was pipping hot as of was the food and plenty of gravy which i love . All in all i loved it and will be booking up again soon . K and V from Yeovil .

I had my 60th birthday party here in April, the landlord and land lady Kerry and Kas catered for approx 80 people, I didn't want the normal buffet type food of sandwiches, sausages rolls etc as most of my guests were coming from further a field, I gave Kerry the chef my Menu of Thai curry, beef lasagne, veg lasagne, veg curry, homemade slaw, salad, chips, he catered for my vegetarian and Gluten free guest. We had sticky toffee pudding, chocolate brownies, fruit salad. Everything was kept hot. They also included Tea, coffee and fresh jugs of water on the tables, we had fairly lights and the hall had plenty of table and chairs for guests to sit down and enjoy there meals. they had PA System so we could play some music and have a dance. The children enjoyed running round in the garden, even the young the children could go out and play in the beautiful secure garden. We had two young ladies looking after us, I didn't catch their names, they were super friendly and could not do enough for us, they worked so hard and we really appreciated the hard work they put it to it. I could not have been happier with the day, thank you so much Kerry and Kas, and if you are thinking of organising an event, I highly recommend holding it at the Bell Inn

Visited this establishment for a 60th birthday party and found the staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Plenty of choice of ales, lagers and cider. The food provided for the party guests was second to none. We never used the restaurant itself but if the food is anything like we were provided as guests at a birthday party, it will be exceptional. I went in on a Saturday lunchtime at 12.30 and there was nobody else there. The kitchen was closed because of apparent illness and there wasn't even a sandwich to be had (no bread). I had to hang on as two others were meeting me prior to a meeting in the adjacent village hall. After an hour nobody else had come in but my two friends did appear and made a remark about it being a little quiet. According to the Landlady, the reason for the emptiness was that all the locals had gone on a 'Jolly boys' outing to Weymouth. Apart from everything else, I have to say that she was very welcoming, but oh dear, how much longer can it survive like this?

What can I say. Saturday lunchtime 12.45 and as I pulled into the car park 2 people were leaving. Once inside I realised I was the only person there. Two other people did come in, to meet me as we were going to a meeting in the village hall next door.

I've reviewed The Bell before as I'd had a good experience there. This time was the opposite. My partner and I arrived for lunch, ordered drinks and were advised to find a table and someone would be with us as soon as possible. Around 25 minutes later, after the table next to us had been served and finished their meals we still hadn't seen a menu. Upon going to ask for one my partner was told "well it's just roasts" but not what kind of roasts. The landlord(?) then asked someone else to "deal with him (my partner)". After waiting a further five minutes at the bar for some instruction he returned to our table, we finished our drinks, paid and left. I was really disappointed with this service as i've had a positive experience here before. They were clearly busy and understaffed, and we had arrvied at the same time as a large cycle group, which may have caused the problem. But if the staff/landlord behind the bar had been more polite we probably would have stayed. May try again for an evening meal, but certainly not on a Sunday lunch time.

Very nice traditional country village pub - beams, horse brasses, etc. you know the sort of thing - with two small bar areas (filled with locals), bar dining area and separate dining room. Warm welcome even though we arrived just before the kitchen closed. Beers on offer were Black Sheep Ale (Yorkshire Ales) which was very good indeed, Cotleigh Barn Owl and Palmers Copper Ale. The fourth, Butcombe, had the clip turned round. On the downside, as far as my wife was concerned, was that only three white wines were on offer and the one she chose was very warm. The food was plentiful and very tasty (although my scampi had obviously been cooked in oil used to cook something else, giving the scampi a strange taste). All in all above average and very good value for money - 2 pints, 2 large wines and 2 meals for just £32. Only criticism was the smell of smoke wafting through from wherever the smokers are relegated to these days - it just wasn't far enough away.

25 of my family booked this lovely pub for our annual Christmas get together on Sunday 17th November, as we chose halfway from all of us to meet up. Always a gamble when you book somewhere you not been before. Well, the Hunters Lodge Inn did not disappoint. It was really busy at 1:45pm, we had a whole section to ourselves, tables laid out, we put crackers on and had a corner for all our Secret Santa gifts. We asked for a rubbish bag so we could clean up afterwards. Jade was truly professional and a credit to the pub, she looked after us all. Service was amazing considering it was so busy. The food (carvery) was so tasty, hot, lots of it and served to you by a really lovely man. Everyone that worked here showed they really enjoy it. Car parking was fab and a lovely park for the kids. Thank you so much from us all and we look forward to seeing you all in 2025. Our new find 😃
