OUR GROUP OF SIX WERE AT EAST LAMBROOK'S ROSE AND CROWN FOR SUNDAY LUNCH. ALL THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR CARVERY AND ASSORTED OTHER CHOICES FROM A TASTY, VARIED MENU. IT'S A DELIGHTFUL OLD INN, COMFORTABLE AND WELCOMING. WE BOOKED WELL AHEAD BY PHONE AND EMAIL FROM OVERSEAS, AND WERE GRATEFUL FOR THE PUB'S EFFORTS TO ASSIGN US A TABLE IN AS A QUIET A SPOT AS POSSIBLE, FOR THE SAKE OF CONVERSATION. EVERYTHING REALLY GOOD - THE FOOD, LOVELY SURROUNDINGS, PEOPLE, SERVICE,COMMUNICATION. THEY'RE CLEARLY POPULAR, SO PROBABLY GOOD TO BOOK EARLY.

We booked 2 weeks previously a table for 11 for12.30pm sitting. We arrived on time shown to our table where a note stated a 2nd sitting was due at 2.30pm. It was very busy & we had to queue for carvery. At 1.15pm we finally got served. Two meals from menu did not arrive until 1.30pm both were lukewarm & bland we complained but waiting staff didn’t do anything. We were constantly pressured by waitress to hurry up & eat up as they needed the table cleaned for 2nd sitting, we stated we would not leave until we finished eating. We ordered desserts & were asked to leave the table & to sit where the fireplace was on sofa but we refused as we had just ordered desserts & coffee & with four children 9 yrs & under it wasn’t ideal to sit on a sofa. The waiting staff said desserts would be delayed as there was a queue in kitchen for preparing desserts! The supervisor came to our table & was rude demanding we leave the table & that other large parties were able to eat & leave within an hour so why couldn’t we do the same. We suggested their slow service & constant badgering to leave was unhelpful so we asked to speak to manager but they were not available only landlord was who was serving at the carvery. Supervisor asked us to leave table again we said no so she stormed off! Approached landlord said he was too busy, we informed him about rude supervisor & being badgered to leave, he said book a table for longer in future but it was their slow service that caused the delay. He wasn’t interested in resolving the matter. We went onto pay the bill but no staff not available after a 10 minute wait staff took our money £226.00 when landlord came over to say, next time ask for me & he would make booking 3 hours long! We stated he missed the point the delay was solely their problem as service was slow due to being busy plus there wouldn’t be a next time as we would NEVER RETURN! So he said please yourself & stormed off! The bill of £226.00 wasn’t worth the appalling service, delay in waiting for food to be served plus the constant badgering to eat up! We will NEVER EVER return & suggest if you want a decent meal & service DON’T waste your money on this venue! Disgraceful behaviour from management & waiting staff!!

Had a beautiful walk through the many cider orchards in this part of Somerset. Decided to stop at the attractive Rose and Crown in the quiet village of East Lambrook. Had a friendly welcome, Palmers Ale and a very pleasant and hearty lunch of fish and chips and steak pie. Very enjoyable.

We just love this place, it’s our favourite local. Great pub that has regularly has music and various food trucks that visit, which provide lovely food from local businesses. A very popular place to have a great evening out in the summer and a warm, cosy, welcoming place in the winter too. Just perfect ❣️

Pre booked a table and we waited over an hour for our starter, to be apologised to that they were busy! The pub was not busy. A shame because the pub was lovely and good hot food was brought out although the chips could be better quality for the price of the meal. Front of house were friendly and apologetic. Back of house need to get more staff or speed up. I work in the same profession so sorry but found the waiting time unacceptable.

Fantastic and very unique country pub. Doesn't have a bar as such which is interesting. No idea about the history of the place but it's got great vibe, the staff are friendly and there's plenty of small rooms to tuck yourself away, be outside or in the bigger rooms if there's music on, which there frequently is.

I have given the Rose & Crown 2 stars - one for the smiley helpful waitress that served us, the other, l am partially deaf and l could hear perfectly well inside even when the pub started to fill. Sadly from there it was down hill all the way. When we arrived there were perhaps three other tables taken, one of which already had their meal. We order lunch from the menu which had a good choice. However from the time of ordering to receiving our meal we waited 55 minutes. I had order the fish pie from the specials board, l was struggling to find very much fish and the sauce was runny, more like gravy, not a good experience for one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. One of our party order the haggis, although the taste was OK, it resembled a plate of mince. The duck breast dish was tough and no crispy skin. All in all not an experience we will be repeating. Such a shame a lovely local pub in beautiful countryside.

We love a visit to Eli's Inn - as unique and quirky as the characters that fequent it. Known for being the pub with no bar, it has cosy rooms with open fires and tones of atmosphere. Although they dont do food - apart from crisps and nibbles - there is often food trucks parked outside, and they offered a wide range from Fish and Chips to Mexican taco's, but check ahead. The staff at the pub are super friendly and always welcoming - families and dogs, plus muddy wellies are always welcome. The pub has an interesting selection of local beers and ciders on tap and bottles, plus wines and spirits. Over the spring and summer months there is live music, classic car evening, beer yoga, cricket matches. Plus all year you can find board game nights, crafting evenings, talks - the list goes on! I would highly Eli's to anyone looking for a unique Somerset experience, Langport is lucky to have such a place!

Service excellent Starters ok Main course disappointing Desert don't bother. We are a family of 8 and all, but one ordered the breaded brie they all came out at the same time, so that was a good start. 2 chicken burgers, one ok, the other hardly touched 1 steak over cooked, and the rest of us ordered the pork from the specials board which was very tast, but the pork was very tuff and chewy. Then desserts!!! There was no one else eating in the restaurant, but apparently, there were only 2 apple struddle, so 2 ordered 1 lemon meringue and 2 bannoffee pie (bad choice). Maybe they had run out. Long wait for the second apple struddle but worth it delicious but not home made. Banoffee pie well as a conasiur and make my own on a regular basis with fresh ingredients. This was really disappointing when too small sweet tart cases came out topped with a dollop of chocolate ice and then topped with squirty cream and a few blueberry awful !!!! The meal came to just under £300 including drinks, and honestly, I have had much better food prepared with good fresh ingredients for a lot less money.

Absolutely lovely pub…beautiful setting and surroundings, if you order from the specials board you are in for a treat, main menu not executed very well and needs a better standard. Drinks quite expensive unless you come for happy hour during the week between 4-6pm. Carvery on a Sunday is superb, absolutely delicious!! But the main this that irritates me about this place is that the staff are CONSTANTLY on their phones texting or they have family and friends visiting them at the which makes it quite unfriendly as they all just stare at you when you’re trying to order! I do recommend this pub but there are some changes that need to be made..asap!!!!

The food is always good with a varied menu, Very friendly staff, dog friendly and with a cosy fire in winter and big sunny outside garden in the Summer. Top roast dinner carveries with all the trimmings I would make at home. The homemade pies are my son's favourite! Popped in for a light lunch after a visit to East Lambrook Manor gardens. Plenty of space between tables (which is great as we have a big dog), warm and nicely decorated, clean loos, a helpful and friendly waiter, and good menu options. We had a fried halloumi starter which was fresh (not frozen from a bag), with (proper avocado) guacamole and a zingy mint and cucumber salad. Also had fish finger sandwich with homemade fishfingers, chunky white bread, with skin on fries and a side salad. Simple things done well. Definitely recommend!

Such a fantastic little pub. We travelled a fair distance to see a band (district7, they were great). It's quite a quirky little place with a collection of small rooms and an unusual bar, which is basically on the wall, so nobody stands behind it. The band played outside, and there was plenty of space for dancing as well as a lot of seating. Unfortunately, at the moment, their kitchen is closed, so I can't comment on their food. However, they do sell my new favourite crisps, woodland mushroom, and wild garlic by two farmers. Almost worth going just for them, I reckon we will definitely go back.

Really disappointing visit. We were asked to preorder which we did, only to be left without a meal and two side dishes. Once we asked for the missing bits the bar staff took it upon themselves to complain that the missing items were our own fault, even though we checked the preorder list that we sent over which had all the meals and sides on. The man behind the bar was so rude, no manners at all and seemed to not care at all about being there. Now onto the food…it was so poor. We ordered steaks, pizza, fish and chips, burgers and sides, and everyone was left disappointed. The pizza were cheap, the steaks were terrible cuts of meat, and rubbery and the burgers were over cooked and burnt! We then ordered dessert, not sure why, as they were terrible too, the sticky toffee is the worse I’ve ever had, tasted like it came from a can! It also took an hour for the dessert to arrive, the pub wasn’t busy at all and none of them seemed homemade so not sure why it took so long? Will not be rushing back anytime soon!

This has always been one of my favourite pubs in Somerset. One of very few pubs left in the country with no actual bar, just what would have been the kitchen to walk into, and you find yourself surrounded by the stock available. The place is old-fashioned but not ancient. Its just wonderfully different. On a Sunday, they have a food van in the outside area, which serves excellent fresh produce. The bar, there is a lack of a bar, as in No Bar, (it's an open space) it's brings you closer to the staff, who are wonderful and actually get the time to know you, what a wonderful place / atmosphere. My only comment, NOT A CRITICISM, they locals did not know what to make of two super tanned people turning and enjoying their scene. On Thursday evening last week we walked across to The Rose and Crown at East Lambrook for a drink. The staff were really nice and welcoming and we decided to stay for a meal. The pub wasn’t even half full. We ordered our food, but...

Came for lunch. Haven't been here for over 3 years. Surrounding deco was different but pleasant. Music choice not great like a teenage disco. Staff very friendly and efficient, but unfortunately meals were very bland and over cooked. Chips very salty, and do not use...

25 of my family booked this lovely pub for our annual Christmas get together on Sunday 17th November, as we chose halfway from all of us to meet up. Always a gamble when you book somewhere you not been before. Well, the Hunters Lodge Inn did not disappoint. It was really busy at 1:45pm, we had a whole section to ourselves, tables laid out, we put crackers on and had a corner for all our Secret Santa gifts. We asked for a rubbish bag so we could clean up afterwards. Jade was truly professional and a credit to the pub, she looked after us all. Service was amazing considering it was so busy. The food (carvery) was so tasty, hot, lots of it and served to you by a really lovely man. Everyone that worked here showed they really enjoy it. Car parking was fab and a lovely park for the kids. Thank you so much from us all and we look forward to seeing you all in 2025. Our new find 😃

Lovely welcome, excellent service and a really good Sunday lunch - the beef/pork/chicken combo was superb as was the panacotta. A particular mention for the service which was really good.

If you want to have the best portuguese food experience, I recommend you go to A Lusitana Restaurant 😋. Everything is really tasty, and all the staff are very friendly. Definitely go back.
