I visited on Friday with my wife. As we were staying in the area, we thought we'd try this one out. So glad we did! Food was very good, service was fast and our server was brilliant! He had a sense of humour and made us feel welcome.Would definitely return here again if we're in the area

Stumbled across this beautiful pub on a wet and windy dog walk. Welcoming comfy sofas next to a roaring log fire, lovely atmosphere and even biscuits for the dogs!

We went, last night, for our pre. 'yearly' Christmas celebration dinner with our friends, we have been doing this for the last ten years, And this was one of the 'BEST' we have had, the food was hot, perfectly cooked and delicious, (roast spud's to die for ! ). the staff were most helpful and polite, and the setting was perfect !. We shall most certainly be paying the ROSE AND CROWN a return visit !!!! ---

A traditional taproom pub with flagstones and built like a warren serving pub food and real ale and decorated with family portraits going back to WW1 and in the same family all that time. The best curried parsnip soup I had the whole week we were in this area.

We were staying close, so it was a treat to be able to walk to 'Eli's'. Hearty meals are served here along with lighter bites. A good selection of drinks are served in the tap room. A first for me........ a pub with no bar! Every one here was very friendly and we really enjoyed our visits.

We called into this pub for a snack and drink while holidaying nearby. We were bit confused by the bar.... or lack of it! Barman was very helpful and friendly. Lunch was served quite quickly and was delicious. I had a Jacket Potato and my husband had a toasted sandwich. Quaint little place with a good atmosphere. Would recommend.

The Rose and Crown, or Eli's as it is known locally, is a real throw back to the old days of pubs. Absolutely no pretensions whatsoever of being a "family pub" or a "gastro pub", or anything like a Wetherspoons, thank the Lord. There is not even a bar, just a tap room where you can see the beer being poured out in front of you from big old fashioned pump handles. There are several different rooms where you can sit in comfort and chat with friends without being deafened by music or be visually assaulted by winking blinking fruit machines. I can't review the food as I have never eaten there, but the beer is always fantastic, well kept and generally there is a good choice. Reminds me so much of The Hoop back in Stock in Essex as it used to be up till about 10 years ago when it was "modernised", and in one fail swoop they managed to rob the pub of it's entire personality. May Eli's stay this way for a long time to come. Definitely worth a visit if you are a beer or cider lover.

Un pub sperduto ma estremamente caratteristico. Conduzione familiare, bellissimi spazi, ottimo cibo. Buone le birre e il cidro. È uno dei pochissimi pub a non avere il bancone, come le locande di un tempo.

Food was superb and hosts very welcoming. Would highly recommend this as a place to eat or just while away some time over a pint.

I visited this pub (as it is now my local) with a friend. I'm not normally a picky person but this pub is such a disappointment! The bar staff were so UN-welcoming, not even saying hello when we entered and approached the bar. They just raised their eyebrows as if to say 'what do you want!' The menu has changed as it not worth the money, before it changed hand. The lunch menus had baguettes and chips but now the chips have been replaced with crisps and the prices have gone up! After having two alcoholic drinks (costing £9!) my friend decided to have a water.... Which she was CHARGED £2 for!! I did not think this was allowed as no other pub has ever charged for water or soda water! Total let down and disappointed that it is my local pub :(

We were on a cycle ride and decided to pop in for lunch. Very friendly greeting, asked how far we had cycled and had a natter before taking our order. The place has a nice atmosphere and was quite busy. We decided to sit outside in their garden, plenty of picnic tables and large lawns. Its opposite East Lambrook gardens so beautiful setting. We just sat and watched the world go slowly by, the food was good, quite a wait, but worth waiting for. Its quite a large place so plenty of tables and there was no problem that we had not booked a table. All in all well worth a visit, whatever your age;-)

Called in for a quick drink with the family. One pint of ale, and four soft drink. Charges £14.40 for the privilege. Asked if this is correct and told yes. Pub down the road same drinks came to less than £9. Over priced, won't be going there again.

This is a pub for the older generation. The menu was a bit boring, traditional meals with no flair or individual input from the chef (or maybe just a cook). The food was fresh and served by pleasant waiting staff. Ok if you're taking Granny out for a treat but nothing inspiring. The best part of this pub is it's lovely garden.

Pat and Jan are back, thank goodness we have missed them since leaving the White Horse at Haselbury. And back with a fantastic Pub and amazing food, excellent quality a warm welcome and good value for money, you have lots of choices including the Specials board. We had the fish on our visit, cooked to a very high standard, the best Tuna Steaks I have ever had. Well done Pat and Jan good to have you back.

We visited the pub on the 10th April. We received a warm welcome. We were asked if we booked a table which we had not, which was not a problem. Nice menu. I ordered the duck with plum sauce. Unfortunately it was extremely well done a bit like a turkey leg all crisp and no meat. What a shame as the garlic mushrooms were lush. My husband had the smokey yet again all you could taste was the cheese. Maybe they should concentrate on cooking the food properly rather than smother the dishes in sauce so you could not tell what was in it. Might try again there but there again might not,. Oh and also took over an hour for the main course to arrive even though it was quiet there.

I visited this pub today with some relatives I haven't seen for some time and we all enjoyed a wonderful meal. We all ordered a Black Bream dish which was the best fish dish I've had for a very long while. Very nice selection of vegetables also cooked just to my liking.Although it was Easter Saturday and therefore very busy, the staff were first rate: attentive, pleasantly mannered and good humoured.I'd like to thank all the staff for making this a special occasion, I just wish I lived nearer

Planned to cycle to South Petherton, so thought we would investigate the Rose and Crown for lunch. Don't normally use this sort of website, but, thought, as they seemed to be getting more popular I would have a look. Slightly worried by the bad review, but, as another reviewer mentioned, you do get 'dodgy' customers. Glad we ignored the negative comments and called in. Couldn't fault anything - atmosphere, staff, food, service great. Looking forward to calling again. Even recommend it to mother-in-law (now that is some accolade!)

The Rose and Crown has new owners Pat and Jan who originally ran the White Horse at Haselbury Plucknett. Having just eaten there, the high standards that always applied to the White Horse now seem to apply to their new venture. Good food at reasonable prices. Our first meal was excellent and we shall be returning regularly.
