Lovely home cooked traditional pub grub. Staff were amazing with dietary requirements. Great beer on tap and great selection of alcohol free alternatives for me (pregnant) but equally for designated drivers. Really reasonable prices too! Sat us right next to the fire that they kept lit all the while we where there. Superb homely experience! Will definitely return if we are back in the area

A wonderful gem of a pub in Yarpole. Refreshingly community run by lovely locals. Everyone so friendly, and a decent pie and a pint. Great value, only £10 per head for a locally made pie, vegetables and roast spuds. The best value we experienced. Thank you! Such a lovely quirky pub inside too.

Visiting the area and staying at Home Farm campsite so just less than a mile bike ride for dinner. This is a community ran pub and has a very warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff all made polite conversation and were interested in where we’d come from and explained how the pub was run to survive. This was so personal and really heart warming. O to the food. Just great! We had prawns and smoked salmon starters really fresh and then rib eye steak and chicken wrapped in bacon with a lovely Stilton sauce. Great beer too and from the Wye Valley. Keep it going please as we will be back for more lovely welcoming hospitality and great food!!

What a find!! Superb olde wolde pub - excellent fayre served by a mixture of staff and volunteers, all of whom made us feel very welcome. You won’t be ‘ripped off’ here - very good food, ales and cider at reasonable prices! Dog friendly, too!! We hope the pub survives as a community owned pub, because it really deserves to! We stayed on a small (excellent) touring site just up the road, so we’ll be back to this pretty,, community run village!

A community owned pub, I am a huge fan of these types of venues, however maybe I got this one wrong, it’s very expensive eating here, food is ok, but I thought a community owned pub was about value, food is nothing special, mediocre pub grub at best, only travelled down here after hearing about it, but thank god my regular eatery is going to be open again shortly

A great evening in a superb community run country pub. We reserved a table for two for Sizzling Saturday - to enjoy the steakhouse style menu. We had the rump steak (rare) and the gammon - both beautifully cooked and seasoned to order. Our plates were full of superb home made, triple cooked chips, mushrooms, peas and tomato. All served hot and in a timely fashion. The atmosphere was really good and the restaurant was full of locals and travellers. This is a great pub, now serving really good classic pub food at reasonable prices. The new chef and team of volunteers have created a winning recipe for success. Well done to everyone. A truly wonderful curry night. All cooked by Chef Ian on his take of a tandoori oven, a wood burning fire. An excellent experience. Sunday lunch was good too. I have to say , and it’s none of my business, why do people book lunch for twelve people and then don’t turn up nor ring and cancel. I hate those type of selfish gits. They need to remember the Bell prepared meals for them and no show results in wastage and loss to the Bell. Please ring early and cancel rather than be a no show. Yet another fantastic date night at the Bell. We dined at our favourite table in this quintessential English pub and enjoyed a really great evening after a sunny day in Herefordshire. The welcome from Ceri was lovely and we soon enjoyed two tasty courses - starters of gin cured hot smoked salmon and chicken liver parfait followed by pea and mint risotto and the Bell’s beer batter fish and chips. All served in a timely manner by Ceri and Olivia. Iain popped over to check on us and shared his extensive knowledge on risottos and how to make the chicken liver parfait so light but really delicious. Thanks to the great team at The Bell. How looks can be deceptive. Whilst travelling back from South Wales we came upon the Bell around lunch time. So being the last stop on our holiday we went in for a meal, what a mistake. The menu is pretentious, the prices high and the food not worth bothering with, I ordered the Aberdeen Angus steak. It cane on a piece of wood with half a dozen cherry tomatoes black on one side , a beaker of fries and a pot of Green Pesto. The steak was cold well warm already sliced and could not have been more that 3oz if that £18.00 after the drive I was tired and couldn't be bothered to complain to a waitress who didn't seem to know what she was doing anyway. Like a fool I decided to try the Rhubarb and Mead Fool, Pardon the only fool was me for £8.00 I had a sundae Glass with a pink FROZEN something in the base, Squirty cream on top with a hard disc of something, there was no taste of rhubarb, no hint of mead. As A Chef of over 40 years, a Fool is a soft mousse like dish of purred rhubarb and whipped double cream, this wasn't. So my friend if you should find your self near the Bell at Yarpole and are tempted to go in, please resist the temptation drive a little further on where you will find a proper Pub Resonant

We were staying on a small caravan site in the village, and because of the reviews, booked in to celebrate a significant birthday of my wife's. We were not disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious. It is a small menu, with four choices of starter, main and dessert, but we were easily able to choose something we wanted without a problem. My wife started with goat cheese and beetroot, and I had trout. For mains, we went for Lamb rump and Halibut. Everything was cooked really well, and the service was excellent. If I had any issue at all, for me, the fish was slightly over seasoned, but I accept I don't tend to use much salt when I cook, and it certainly did not detract from the quality. The desserts are amazing, but we only shared one between us, as we were full. One other thing - although it is very much a 'gourmet pub', the beer is excellent!!!!

One of the best Sunday lunches around, locally sourced food (you can't get more local than the pub garden) and great portion sizes. The staff were helpful and friendly. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Four of us visited for dinner on Friday evening, the first time we have been since the new tenants took over, and were most impressed. We loved the menu, with many attractive choices. The service was attentive without being obtrusive and Dom's enthusiasm shone through. All four of us were very happy with our meals; everything was delicious. Two of us enjoyed the Hereford Hop rarebit starter but Dom said the chef wasn't entirely satisfied with it and took it off our bill!! We will go again whenever we can and wish Nick and Dom all the very best with their enterprise - difficult times but they deserve great success.

If you would like a beautifully presented meal, made with quality ingredients in a characterful, old Herefordshire pub, then The Bell is not to be missed.I have been on four occasions since Nick and Dom have taken over and have been blown away on each visit by the delicious and inventive dishes and the quietly attentive service. The atmosphere is relaxing and informal both inside and outdoors in the charming gardens.

We enjoyed our visit last year but the new management have certainly taken the food quality up a notch. For lunch I had a lovely mint, pea and bean salad followed by an inventive tea and toast dessert with an Early Grey parfait with brown butter ice cream. My husband and brother both enjoyed the sausage and mash. A very warm welcome on arrival too, along with the obligatory temperature check. Beautiful pub with plenty of space. Good to see that Robinsons cider was still on draft and my husband said it was his best pint of Hobsons ever. One of the best pub menu in the area.

Spent a wonderful evening celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary, it was perfect. The staff are so friendly, nice to be greeted with a smile and cheery hello, they make everyone welcome. A wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Great selection of local brews. The champagne is good too!We had a range of different dishes from the new menu and every one was absolutely delicious, amazing flavours and beautifully presented, couldn’t fault anything. It’s great to know that they use as much home grown as they can or use local suppliers, well done. The new young tenants, Nick and Dom, deserve every success

We enjoyed a meal for 10 (on two separate tables) on Saturday night, with delicious, beautifully presented food and friendly service. We chose a range of dishes from the menu, and all were of a consistently high standard. The chef clearly uses high-quality ingredients and knows how to cook well and combine flavours. Two of our party witnessed a dissatisfied customer complaining. The manager's response was civil, calm and professional.

We arrived to alovely warm welcome from a young man behind the bar.We were shown to our table by a lovely young lady. The setting and ambience was gorgeous and the background music was good too. We ordered a roast cauliflower and shallot soup which was very bland until I put lots of seasoning into it. My husband however had the Hereford hop rarebit which was fantastic. We then ordered the Tudge's Berkshire Pork loin chop for my husband which again was gorgeous I ordered the 6oz flat iron steak MEDIUM WITH NO BLOOD and peppercorn sauce. The presentation firstly was very poor, cut into the steak and it oozed blood the peppercorn sauce did not remotely taste like what it was supposed to so we called over the lovely young waitress and explained that we specifically requested no blood so she kindly called the manager Dom over who was nothing more than condescending rude and very arrogant who argued with us? "It was not blood but haemoglobin and it was perfect pepper sauce he had cooked for years using the same recipe" Dom then offered to deduct my meal off the bill but then quickly rescinded his offer as I had eaten my tomatoes and chips so would deduct 50% instead!!!?After a lengthy debate at the bar in front of other customers he finally offered us our £20 back, needless to say it was not a pleasant experience.

There were 5 of us for lunch, including 2 vegetarians. There was plenty of choice for all of us. The service was excellent and we were made very welcome. We had a range of starters, mains and desserts. All of the courses were beautifully presented with fresh ingredients and lovely flavours. I can't single any dish out as we all enjoyed our meal. Also the beer from The Swan Brewery is a good choice. We will certainly be back.

Was so excited that the Bell had reopened. Hadn’t seen a menu but booked for a Sunday lunch. As it was a sunny day we sat outside to eat. Very Covid friendly with temperature taken and staff wearing masks. Sunday lunch was set menu at£21 for 2 courses. The starter was pretty and tasty but not filling. Which was probably good as the main was plentiful. Plenty of beef and veg and really tasty. Can highly recommend.

I visited The Bell Inn yesterday with my parents for Sunday Lunch with much trepidation as being my parent's local pub we had high hopes after not visiting for so long. We were not disappointed! The staff, atmosphere and most importantly, the food were all 5 star. So lovely to see the pub up and running again, with people who clearly really care and want it to be a huge success. We will be back very soon! I can't wait to try more food from the wonderful menu. Thanks All.

From our welcome and seating (Covid checks subtle and polite but thorough) through good service of fresh, delicious, exciting dishes the evening was a triumph. My future visits to Yarpole will include a meal at The Bell as a highlight. Good luck, thank you and well done!

Overall a friendly welcome, great service, lovely atmosphere and great food! We were staycationing locally and chose to have lunch at The Bell. We booked via Open Table but the pub didn’t get our booking, not their fault at all. Although the booking was not received we were made to feel welcome and a table was quickly found for us. They were really busy and politely advised us there may be a wait for food. Despite this we were served in a more than reasonable time without issue - Our drinks order was taken as we were seated and received in minutes, and our food order was taken within 20 mins and our meals followed 20 mins later. I would actually say it was very attentive service whist not feeling rushed. We are both vegan so menu choices were limited but the meals we had were really good and not the normal bland token vegan meals we often find.

As we were camping nearby we decided to visit 3 days in a row. On arrival we had a great welcome from the really friendly staff. Its the first pub ive visited since lockdown and the precautions such as temperature checking and staff face masks really made us feel safe and relaxed. The staff were very helpful as im a coeliac and my youngest was grumpy and picky. The food was very tasty. Especially sunday lunch which maybe the best ive ever had.

On a staycation in the village with an elderly relative and due to the current pandemic ate a lunch, and a dinner at The Bell as we felt safer under the current circumstances booking something local .The staff were both welcoming and professional in equal measure, and had a genuine aim to please attitude. We had a light lunch on day one which was excellent, but the evening meal on day two surpassed our expectations. The overall presentation of the food and the flavours on the plate were delightful ,a treat for the taste buds in fact ,Produce is locally sourced and you can certainly tell. We shared a large cheeseboard between three of us to round off what was a lovely evening . Please note The Bell is very Covid conscious which made us personally feel much safer, and only enhanced our overall dining experience .

I absolutely love being in this place and it has a beautifully calm feel. However I am totally astonished by the dolls-house size servings for lunch- at normal lunch prices. I almost asked them if they hadn’t accidentally given me a kiddie’s portion - for a cheaper price- as for over £9 I got two slices of delicious small rye toast, about 7 very small lettuce leaves, 4 olives and a small pot of delicious dip. All very tasty but absolutely not a main course. I know I these are locally sourced ingredients but this felt really wrong. I will definitely return for post lunch coffees but will make sure to eat somewhere else where I can fuel up for lunch before hand.

Pleasant surroundings outside, unfortunately the food was not too a very high standard. Ham and piccalilli sandwich, ham tasteless (wafer thin and breaded, supermarket family pack springs to mind). Should have been advertised as a Piccalilli sandwich, Coffee was fine.

Been to this lovely pub for Sunday lunch many times, never disappoints. Everything about this place is positive from the lovely friendly staff who can't do enough for you. It is a welcome throwback to how a local pub used to be, a real gem, long may it continues.
