We had been meaning to visit this village pub after a friend had recommended it. The 'Eat Out' discounted scheme gave us the main reason to give it a go. The starter of tomato and basil soup was steaming hot and delicious, served with crusty bread. I was offered mackerel salad and was not disappointed; delicious served with a bowl of new potatoes. Hubby was served a rather large beef burger and cheese with a side of chips. He has a hearty appetite and it was more than enough for him. The service was warm and friendly, without being intrusive. Had we had paid the full non- discounted bill, we would have been very happy at the price. Listening to the staff taking bookings this is a popular pub You can sit outside or indoors for meals I could see the walled garden, which looked very inviting. I think this is well worth another visit .

We had just arrived from the States in the morning, got in the car and drove north. At lunchtime we were near Market Harborough and happened upon The Bell Inn. We ordered Bangers and Mash and the Ploughman's Platter and they were both delicious. The owner sat and visited with us for a bit, which we enjoyed. I definitely recommend The Bell Inn.

This was the first time we had been to the Bell Inn for a few years. The interior is much improved (clean, stylish & cosy) and the welcome was warm and friendly. The roast dinner was fresh, tasty and plentiful (we took our extra roasties home in a doggy bag!). The pudding; apple & rhubarb crumble, was delicious too. The service throughout our meal was top class and the landlord thoroughly entertained our 6 year old boy with lots of banter and fun! My son also loved the Jaffa cake ice cream! We will definitely be back. If you have not been to the Bell Inn yet or were put off by a poor previous experience, then you should give it a go now, as the new management are first class. Five Stars!!

Visited the Bell for Sunday lunch with a Friend. The meal was well presented and tasted fantastic. The landlord was really pleasant and very attentive. We really fancied a cheese board at the end and although it was not on the menu he was more than happy to provide one. We have just booked in for Christmas day lunch on the back of today experience.

We were surprised and delighted to find that this pub has new management (?ownership?) as it had been disappointing of late. The very friendly guy said they'd only been there a week but they were very attentive and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Italian chef apparently and they are tweaking the menu. Wild mushroom risotto can have chicken or steak added for a couple of pounds extra and was terrific. I had a huge portion of very moist and tender Piri Piri chicken with chips and our friend had a home made pie with chips and vegetables. All very tasty. Recommended

We haven’t been here since last summer as we were put off by the shoddy interior and sloppy service .... we arrived recently after a walk with the dogs and straight away we we received a friendly welcome and cold water...with ice for the dogs. We had sea bass with veg and dauphinois potatoes for around £14 and it was fantastic...really beautifully cooked...massive improvement from last time we were there.. lovely views, nice walks and very pretty pub garden full of white roses and lavender.

Whilst the pub and scenery itself is beautiful and the staff were friendly, we were disappointed with the food from the outset. The menu on the Internet and the menu we were actually provided in the pub were very different. We were not told about the specials boards which had choices we would have ordered from the outset. I ordered the pie of the week, which was cottage pie. However when it arrived it was basically a bowl of potato with barely any mince in it. I have never complained about a meal before, or sent food back but I was so shocked at the lack of filling that I was not prepared to pay for it. This said I was offered another meal off the menu when this was brought to the staffs attention, offered complimentary drinks and they re-cooked my husbands meal so that we could eat together. My second meal was much better and was really enjoyable. Its just a shame that our initial experience over shadowed the remainder of the evening.

We have just had a meal at this pub. This used to be our lovely local but has recently changed hands. It has gone down hill considerably since then. Tonight we were a party of 8 people. All of us locals. My husbands meal did not arrive. We were told it was something to do with their ordering system (!!) When everyone else had finished their food, he cancelled his at it had still not arrived. No apology - nothing. Not even a sorry. The most bizarre experience. It was as if nothing had happened. Maybe it is a regular occurrence here so warrants no comment - who knows. As with many other locals, we won’t be back. We all feel quite cross that a good solid local pub has been totally ruined.

Been a bit wary since the revamp but I had an excellent evening meal. Really good risotto. Beer is always good and service friendly. Well worth re-discovering.

A long established eatery and we had our wedding breakfast here 32 years ago! A lovely old pub with great atmosphere but very low beams! Not having visited for some years we visited for lunch and it was a good experience. Great choice on varied menu, the food was wholesome and delicious. Service was attentive and personable. Lovely old fashioned bar with varied choice of Beers. Well worth a visit.

We drink here a lot, but aren't that keen on the food. It's a little lacking in imagination. However Henrys' Pimms and Lemonade is amazing

Following our trip to the Bird on Hand we travelled a couple of miles to the Bell Inn at East Langton for lunch. A good pub with a really good restaurant. Mine host Henry was his usual self trying to be informative regarding the menu and the food was excellent as usual. It has a typical country pub atmosphere and the food is of a very high standard. Luncheon or dinner the menu suits both and we have never been disappointed. Definitely worth a visit.

We visited the Bell for lunch with our daughter on a weekday lunchtime. We had a warm welcome as we arrived. The bar was very welcoming and the menu good. We all had sandwiches, beautifully presented and at a good price. Only downside was that ladies toilets needed a clean and updating. Everything else was very good and we would definitely visit again.

Very good food for the price; the staff were slightly bemused to see us on a Tuesday evening. Obviously we weren't locals, of whom the female ones appeared to adore the restaurant host, Henry, and we could understand why as he made the evening for us too! His quirky sense of humour had us giggling into our reasonably priced and very tasty main courses. Definitely worth a visit and we'll be back!

My husband and I stayed at this quaint Pub a couple of weeks ago for a mini break after being recommended by a friend and I have to say, it did not disappoint! On arrival we were greeted by the owners, Nick and Shirley who were more than happy to have a chat and even recommended some lovely walks for us. The food was tasty and well presented and the staff were great and seemed to know a lot about the food. Be sure to look forward to the service of the manager Henry, what a character! On a side note, I couldn’t disagree more with the previous review. Perhaps they got the wrong place!Overall, a great little break made even better with the delightful staff and lovely food. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and will be returning again soon.

We've heard mixed reviews about the Bell Inn, mainly that the food is great but the service can be a little stale and even rude. We visited a short while ago and were impressed with how beautiful the pub is. Unfortunately though, the service lived up to expectation, the manager behind the bar was extremely rude and unhelpful. We had to repeat our drinks order as he seemed to be getting them wrong. Our food was great though but unfortunately the service has put us off another visit.

We stayed at The Bell Inn after our Bird in the hand experience day. The weather was with us and we sat in the beautiful garden and took in the amazing surroundings, extremely picturesque. After settling into a spotlessly clean room with all that you need on a weekend away we went to eat at the restaurant. The food was more than excellent and exceeded our expectations. We are definately going to visit again and are very much looking forward to it.

We visited on a Monday lunchtime, this was not our intended lunch venue so this was a great unintentional find. We where greeted by very friendly hosts Shirley and Nick, ordered our drinks and found a table. The wine (a Sauvignon) and the Beer (London Pride) both very good. As we did not order a starter, they brought over Ciabatta bread with Olive Oil (good quality) and Balsamic Vinegar, rightly explaining that the food is cooked from fresh and would take a short while - a nice touch. The food was fantastic, perfectly cooked and presented, (we had Beef Wellington). We where all very impressed with all aspects of this establishment and will highly recommend to friends.

Order at 9am if you want lunch 🙄 honestly I don't think I've been anywhere so slow. Even at full capacity it should not be hard to manage with the level of staff. Avoid.. Unless you see going for breakfast as a full day activity.

We haven't been to Kilworth House for a very long time but thought it was about time to give it a another go! Well you won't be disappointed - the food in the The Wordsworth was amazing! We have been to many Michelin starred restaurants and I must say that this would not look out of place! We were very well looked after. The only I would say is that they need another dish per course on the menu as there were only 3 starters, 3 main courses etc. Also it was a shame that there wasn't more people in the restaurant but I suppose it is January. We will definitely be going back!

Stayed here overnight, the room was beautiful and spotless ditto bathroom. We opted to eat in the restaurant and the food was delicious and plentiful, it’s probably the best vegetarian lasagne I’ve eaten, there was a good choice for vegetarians , my husband really enjoyed the gammon. We were both so full we couldn’t manage a pudding. The bar was really busy but we couldn’t hear a word from our room. I slept for nearly 9 hours which is rare for me. The staff were attentive but not overbearing, they are certainly an asset to the business that’s for certain. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

An Absolute Gem in the Heart of the Countryside! I’m not from around the area, but during my stay, I found myself coming back to The Staff of Life Pub every single day—and with good reason! The food here is simply out of this world. From the mouth-watering tapas, which were a delightful mix of flavors and textures, to the traditional roast dinner that was as comforting as it was delicious, everything was cooked to perfection. And don’t even get me started on the apple pie—it’s truly to die for. Each bite was a slice of heaven, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. Beyond the food, the ambience of the pub is fantastic. It has that perfect blend of warm, cozy, and welcoming, with a lively atmosphere that makes you feel at home, whether you're a regular or just passing through. The décor is charming, and the subtle lighting creates a wonderfully relaxed vibe. What really made my experience special was the incredible service, particularly from Sharon. She is such a gem—warm, attentive, and always ready with a smile. Sharon made sure that every visit was memorable and went out of her way to ensure everything was perfect. Whether you're local or just visiting, The Staff of Life is a must-visit. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are simply unbeatable. I’ll definitely be back!

Very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble with my food allergy. We had Sunday roast which was delicious and plentiful and after a short break we found room for dessert. Will definitely visit again when in the area.
