We had dinner here I had steak and ale pie and chips and my wife had fish and chips. The meal was served in the restaurant not the bar. The food was very good and the staff friendly. They prefer people to book in advance for food. We had been lucky that we walked in and were able to order the food. The only down point was that normally you need to call ahead and book for food. This seems strange for a pub/restaurant in an area that would not normally be busy.

Arrived today for a lunch and was told they had a party in and would need to wait 30-45 minutes. We explained we only wanted a main course as per the the website and was told we could wait in the bar with a drink. After 1 hour was brought the menu for 3 course meal at £16.85 per head. Explained again we only wanted a main course and told this was ok. Had a lovely meal but on receiving the bill was charged for 3 courses. When queried and mentioned the website we had previously looked at was informed that on a lunchtime they only do the 3 course menu and the website is not theirs and they are unable to alter it. So we ended up paying the full bill but felt cheated and will not be returning BEWARE

We happened upon this pub looking for a meal that evening (Tuesday). The lovely owner said that he could accommodate us but there wasn’t much food as he was usually closed. He came up with duck, scampi or ha, eggs and chips. We opted for the duck. He took my name and number and arranged to arrive around 6:30. Such a lovely friendly pub, a couple of drinks then we were taken into the restaurant. Loads of old classic motorbikes in there, fab. It turned out to be a set meal, soup (didn’t know what it was, surprise) turned out to be mussel soup. Absolutely delicious with a nice big g chunk of bread. The duck was cooked perfectly, came with mash and fresh veg and home made soup plum chutney, delicious 😋 Thought that was it but no, dessert was delicious included as well, out came a Oreo cheesecake, again homemade. Superb welcome, delicious food, we will be back! Thank you 🙏

The Bell is not what it was. Poor service that seems to be because of a lack of staff. A single waitress covering the restaurant, kitchen, and bar is not enough and the result was slow, inattentive service. The food in the restaurant was cheaply priced but the quality was poor. The starter was inedible. The bar has a very limited wine list of a couple of low quality wines. I could not find one I would want to buy. Overall, The Bell is adequate as a pub for a pint of lager but not somewhere I would recommend for a nice meal.

And made sure that the awkward ones amongst us (celiac and dairy intolerance) had a nice meal too. Small menu but that makes sure there's little waste. Can heartily recommend the steak & kidney pie & mash. And the bread & butter pudding is to die for, best there's ever been. Thoroughly recommend the Bell.

Staff were very friendly, the chefs food was on point set menu £14.95 for two courses, my sea base on a bed of mash with garden peas almost melted in my mouth, missus had stake and ale pie, packed full with beef, seriously full must been a local pie, puddings Sticky toffee pudding or Chocolate fudge cake, very tasty. Oh and the Classic motorbikes dotted about, BSA's a couple of Royal Enfield's just a few of 25 the owner has in total, great to talk to someone so passionate about any Classic items.

Well we were not disappointed. The portions were a very good size and both the fish and the chips were piping hot . Taste wise excellent so glad we stayed. MORE AT TripAdvisor

I've been to the Bell many times over the years but unfortunately it has gone downhill since reopening with new people running it. They are actually nice people but unfortunately the service and standards have dropped. I went there for a meal last night. It was almost empty but I had to stand waiting to be seated for around five minutes, with no sign of anyone to tend to customers. When I was finally seated, it then took a long time to be given menus. There was no apology at any point for such long delays. There was only one other person dining, so I don't see why we had to wait so long. The food was very nice. It always is, and that's why this review is two stars instead of one. However, the service was very poor. When I had to wait at the bar to pay (another wait of several minutes), I noticed the man serving that night was sitting down chatting to someone instead of looking after his customers. Another issue was the amount of flies swarming around, landing on me and my partner, trying to land on our food, etc. It made for very uncomfortable dining. The one other person dining was swarmed by flies too, and was clearly annoyed. That amount of flies is a bit concerning - something needs to be done about that. Finally, something that's happened just about every time I've been to the Bell in the last year or so is regarding mustard. We've asked for French mustard to go with steak but they keep bringing out a brand called Frenchies Mustard. This is not French mustard, does not go with steak, and actually isn't very nice. This is such a simple thing, so I don't understand why they keep getting it wrong. The Bell is fairly local to me. I want it to succeed. The people running it seem nice. But sadly standards have seriously slipped. Better service is required, along with dealing with all the flies and understanding what French mustard is. I will visit again in future and hopefully I'll be able to leave a better review.

I booked a table for two 1 week in advance as a treat for my moms birthday, we have visited the place before many times with family and friends in larger groups and we always recommend it to others. We received a phone call a few hours before we were due to arrive they informed us that that due to a lady minute 30 people birthday booking they had to cancel our reservation, we told them how disappointed we were so they then offered to seat us on bar stalls ( like parrots)in the bar to eat our Sunday lunch to which we politely declined. We tried to make other reservations elsewhere but it was to short notice so we ended up staying at home. It’s my moms favorite place and she was very upset to be let down on her birthday, doubt if they would have cancelled us had we booked in as a larger group of people.... how rude and greedy of the owners to treat valued regular customers in this way. We not be making any future reservations and we have told our family and friends who will not be returning either.

We didn't get off on the right foot as we had read a website which said the pub offered three courses for £10.95, and we had recommended it to our friends. The waitress told us she knew of no such menu. I see that a three-course meal for under £11 is also mentioned as available in an April TA review. Therefore, people should be aware that this is not now the case. I suggested to the owner that the website be corrected but he said they had tried unsuccessfully - as it is not their own website.

We ordered food and did not have long to wait in our very comfortable chairs before 2 mains were served at a table for 2 near the bar. I had homemade beef lasagne and it was probably the best I'd ever tasted. Sarah had Lamb shank which was equally delicious. We shared a scrumptious dessert. Our hosts James and Sallyann were charming, friendly and helpful in telling us what places to visit during our break, as were some locals who were at the bar. What a lovely surprise to see this place has opened again under new Management. They have refurbished to a lovely standard, very tasteful décor and even the loos are very clean and respectable.Had a lovely baguette & chips for lunch and amazed at the price of the Sauvingon Blanc and the Doombar. Excellent value of under £12 for 2 pints and the bottle of vino. There is a restaurant for the full sit down type meal and an area outside for those lovely summer days/evenings.We will be back !!!!

We visited here with our close friends who live in the village, and said it had recently reopened, well they have done a great job with the refurbishment, so light and airy in the restaurant. We all had a starter apart from one, and considering the starter and dessert is included in the price they were very tasty, nice sized portions too. The Sunday roast itself was fantastic, nice moist meat, with plenty of vegetables and big Yorkshire pudding, it tasted fantastic, nothing to criticise about at all.For the price you pay for food and drink, you won't leave disappointed, highly recommend.

Having recently moved into the village this pub will definitely be my local from now on. Refurbishment is very tasteful, beer is great and the cliental very welcoming. Felt at home within seconds. The new landlord and landlady are great and previously ran the Red House in Solihull with great success.Noted that a previous review gave terrible rating because the phone number had changed from the previous owners.....seems non-sense to me, to rate a pub based on an old website ran by the previous owners.

Called in Tuesday 6th June. Now fully open and serving food, after being closed for over 9 months. Looks really attractive inside. They are starting with a simple menu - very reasonably priced. Best of luck to Sally & James. Bookings Tel 01789 509486.

So bad it's not worth discussing. The management are more interested in showing off to their friends than providing hospitality. This will close soon

It was a terrible mistake to go to The Bell at Salford Priors for Sunday lunch. After ordering our meal, we waited for 65 minutes, yes 65 minutes, to be served. When it came, the "Sunday roast" was drowned in gravy and the beef was tasteless and hard. The décor was dingy in the extreme, not even any pictures on the drab walls. It looked as if they were closing down. So odd, as The Bell is located in the heart of the beautiful and affluent village of Salford Priors near Alcester. I wonder what the story is?

Called in for a drink to have a look with the intention of going in for meals over the weekend. Had one drink and left. Building cold and did not have a very friendly atmosphere. Looked at menu and thought expensive for what was on offer which was nothing special, fish chips, sausage mash etc hence did not eat there at all

Came as a family of 5 to this wonderful pub. I understand its recently been taken over by a new team. The menu choices are good and not ott, not a huge variation but enough. We had a pork roast dinner which arrived with 4 different veg, yorkshire pudding and stuffing! Terrific meal great hosting by the young waiter. We'll be back for more!

The Bell, Evesham Road, Salford Priors, WR11 8UUDate of visit - 9 November 2014The Bell is somewhere we go on a regular basis and the food is usually really good but on this occasion it was disappointing. It was a Sunday evening the place was very quiet. A temporary manager was in post so was still finding his feet and appeared to be doing all the jobs other than the cooking. The usual menu had been replaced with a Sunday menu which only offered a roast dinner (£10.95) as a choice of mains so we had no choice but to have roast beef and the roast turkey option. We chose paté and brie for starters (£2 and £4 respectively) and they were nice, the roast dinner was presented nicely but I suspect some of the vegetables, roast potatoes and the Yorkshire pudding had been left over from the lunchtime service and simply reheated so the flavours had lost their freshness. A very nice selection of real ale is served in this pub so the evening was not a complete disaster. I will visit again even if only to assure myself that this visit was a disappointing one off!

A mid week evening out with friends and the restaurant is very quiet. Which doesn't mean that service is fast! In fact, the waitress seems quite surprised that we aren't pleased to watch our drinks sit on the bar waiting to be served. However, we are greeted by the news that several dishes are unavailable ( on Tuesday ?). The range of choices remaining is satisfactory but not wide. We select. The waitress returns to tell us that one of our friend's selections is not available. So our friend reorders. My wife and I shared a baked Camembert and it was delicious. The waitress returns with our friend's prawn and crayfish salad to say that they have run out of crayfish and have substituted more prawns. Eyebrows are beginning to be raised. My Cajun gumbo was spot on and the haddock was good pub grub but where was my friend's pie? 10 min later it arrives burnt on the outside and undercooked in the middle. The landlord comes round to check that we are okay and offers to remove it from the bill. We are the only people left; we decide to skip the sweets and go home. My wife and I rated our meal as good, but our friends' was poor. It shouldn't be the luck of the draw. We desperately need pubs serving decent food in the Evesham/Alcester area, so I hope they iron out the wrinkles.

Have been to The Bell in the past for lunch so decided to try it for an evening meal on my birthday in September 2014. Food was good although nothing out of the ordinary, However the service was appalling. Only two people serving the restaurant, no one asked us if our meal was ok and had to go and ask the waitress if we could order more drinks on two occasions. Not the most accommodating of staff. Wouldn't rush back!!!

Visited this pub/restaurant for the first time for Saturday lunch. Met the owner, Sally, who was extremely friendly and welcoming. We chose from the fixed price menu, 2 courses for £8.95, I chose the spicey carrot soup followed by fish and chips. My husband chose the prawn and crayfish tail salad followed by faggotts peas and mash. Thoroughly enjoyed both courses. We will definitely visit again and have already recommended it to friends. The restaurant is light and well furnished in a contemporary style.

We have been to The Bell a number of times, the food is excellent, home cooked and good value.A few weeks ago my wife took a party of 18 people for lunch. The party was mainly made up of of over 60's, three of them in wheelchairs. On arrival, they found the access very tricky through the front entrance. There is a larger entrance to the back of the building through the garden, however, once in the restaurant a large step in the middle the of dining room again making it difficult for wheelchair users and no ramp provided. In the end with much patience from the excellent driver, from back & 4th, he did manage to get all three in through the front, this took half an hour and he ended up with a bloody leg!. Without him they would not have managed and would most likely have had to go home. When speaking to the Manager Sally, she informed my wife that it was not necessary to make amendments or provide a ramp as the building was old.Maybe it was the fault of my wife not to check the wheelchair access, she regularly takes this party out, she just presumed there would be a ramp provided on request. .I think a portable ramp would make an easy solution and offer the facilities of this otherwise very nice pub to a wider range of people.

Great little pub/restaurant. We were staying at the hotel down the road, and came here because we'd heard the food at the hotel wasn't very good. So glad we made that decision. We went on a Fish Friday and both ordered off that menu. Or expectations weren't very high, but we were blown away with the quality of the food. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the staff friendly and attentive.A great little find.

I was visiting a friend who lives down there as im not from the area and she took me there and I had to thank her so much as it was probably the best meal out I have ever tasted.Would defiantly recommend this to anybody and would more than likely go back there in the future. Thanks for the great food.

We always visit this lovely friendly country restaurant when we are in the area. The fish Friday is fantastic: 2 courses and a glass of wine for £15 which is excellent value. Example choices last time we visited were smoked haddock scotch egg starter, then Wickwar BOB beer battered fish with hand cut fries and fresh veg. Perfect. Lots of delicious fish starters and mains to choose from. Plus the usual menu is still available if any if your party aren't fishy folk. And the pub restaurant also offers a loyalty card you can get stamped for each meal purchased and when you have enough stamps you can enjoy a buy one get one free main course.

We have eaten here many times lunch and evening and have always enjoyed it, the decor food and service have always been good, however myself and husband went on the spur of the moment to try the fish night, overall very nice but my husband found what appeared to be a substantial amount of dirt/grit in his salad leaves in his starter....we complained the staff apologised and replaced it, the rest of the meal was OK, when we paid the bill again the member of staff apologised but then made a very strange comment. Not sure what that was in your starter probably best not to know and laughed, no compensation or explanation was offered, spoilt our evening, we knew it was dirt/grit and probably from not washing the leaves properly maybe more care and attention needed and a bit more serious customer service when dealing with such matters.
