Ordered from them for delivery, just ordered a few picky bits as we didn't fancy anything proper. Everything was really nice, cooked well, and just what we wanted! Delivery was quick, and the driver was kind enough to advise that the chicken 65 was salty and said to use the dips with it, but we thought they were great even without the dips, salty sure but not in a bad way! Will be ordering again from here, and will be trying their meals for sure.

Brilliant value. Neither of us could move after, poppadoms with chutney, 2 starters, 2 mains, with 1 rice and garlic naan, short of 30 pounds. Going again tonight, but think we may cut back on something. Really good tasting food.

i dined in and didn't wait long for the freshly cooked food to arrive. Everything was delicious... especially the speciality citrus lamb dish which i had never eaten before. The portions were really large, and i was unable to finish the meal. I visited more than once in my short stay in Southport. For any restaurant to still be in the same place after 38 years, under the same ownership says a huge amount about the quality of their cooking.. Highly recommended....

The Belash has always been or 1st option and go to Indian restaurant to sit in and take out, but in all the years we've been using them last night was surprising very disappointing. We called and ordered at 5.30pm and the food didn't arrive till 8.20pm. Even after calling inbetween we still waited 40 mins for it to arrive. The onion bhaji were dripping in grease and in bits. The Korma was prawns in a creamy water with no taste and the chips were cold.

A night out in Southport. The Belash is tucked behind Lord Street, five minutes from the Prom. You couldn’t want for more. A broad range of the classics to be found in all high street Indian eateries. Plumping for tandoori chicken, the dish was moist, well-spiced and charred in all the right places. Naan bread too. Delicious and far too much food.

We have been long time patrons of the Indian across the road, TAJ MAHAL but decided it was time we gave Belash a chance - and we were not disappointed..For starters: meat samosa, kebab and an onion bahji with plentiful salad. For mains, multiple tasty and rightly spiced curries. The rice was cooked to near perfection and the creamy curries were a decent portion size. We were very surprised with the plentiful sauces which accompanied the poppadoms..Although everything was to a much more delicious degree than our previous Indian choices, the waiting time prior to the food arriving was diabolical. Although we had booked a table, we were advised to wait before being taken to our table. There was also an excessive wait for the starter to arrive, and a delay between the starter and mains. Understandibly, the restaurant can get rather busy at peak times, however we had spent over half of the time we were at the restaurant waiting for food..The decor was a little outdated but the staff were lovely. Thank you for a long, albeit tasty evening!.

We visited on an early Tuesday evening as a family of 2 adults and a child. There were already a few tables in there but we were warmly greeted and seated quickly. Our drink orders were taken promptly and we had some poppadoms and some very nice dips to start with.We ordered the mix starter and for mains Lamb Jalfrezi and Chicken Bhuna with plain rice, naan and fries. Really cannot fault the food or the service. Food piping hot and very tasty. Not like some other establishments who pose as authentic but end up serving oily curries. What stood out was the obvious use of quality lamb and chicken, very tender and seemed to absorb a lot of flavour compared to many other Indians we have visited. Will certainly visit next time we are in Southport and we have already recommended this place to friends who are visiting soon.Thank you Belash team!

I had two friends who both wanted to go for an Indian so I decided to take them to my regular haunt because I know what the food and the service is like and that they would not be disappointed. We started with the usual condiments with papadums, I advised my friends against starters, (delicious as they are) because the main courses are way above the average portion size anywhere else in Southport. They agreed with me at the end of evening. My friends had Chicken Korma and Chicken Karahi for their main and I had the Chicken Phall (not for the faint hearted-hotter than the Vindaloo). All the food served was well presented, well cooked and of course delicious. The place might not look much from the outside and the interior decor could do with a bit of attention but the kitchen and other amenities were spotlessly clean. I cannot fault the place, great food, large portions, cheap compared to other nearby similar restaurants and above all, friendly and very attentive staff throughout the evening, thank you....

It was nice to see Shabah again who took care of our every need during the evening. I thought I would try something that I have never had before, normally I go for the Phall, which is the hottest (spice-wise) meal, not recommended for the faint-hearted. I decided to go for the Chicken Jalfrazi , but asked Shabah for it to be hotter than described on the menu, for which he obliged. The restaurant was a Tandoori house, it wasn't busy there was a few other tables in use, we ordered our food which was served very quickly. The quality and quantity of the food served was excellent. It just happened to be right next to the B&B we were staying at and central to other bars etc. we will go here again.

I think I have been to all the Indian/Pakistani/Balti restaurants in Southport and I must admit they are all very good. We visited the Belash and were immediately warmly greeted by Shabah who guided us to our table. The place was not so busy probably because everyone was saving themselves for New Years Eve (the next day) and also because Everton were playing that evening. My friend ordered the chicken korma and I went for the phall which is extremely hot (more than the vindaloo) and never appears on any of the restaurant menus, you have to ask for it specifically and when I ordered it Shabah said "are you sure" and I said yes, then he said would I like a bucket of water with it. I was delicious, but not the hottest phall I have had. The portions were large, the service was excellent, Shabah was very attentive and had a great sense of humour. Definitely worth looking for because it is a little bit off the beaten track...

The Short review:Well located, Clean with nice decor, great staff, good food and interesting choice, large portions, AMAZING PRICES!!! check the photo's of the menu I've Included. The Long review:I work away at weekends at events in different towns and always try the Indian restaurants, I've tried the top end and low end and most are easily forgettable.I've actually tried every Indian restaurant in Southport as I'm there a few times a year and I always try somewhere different, However I had never tried the Belash, that was til last Saturday evening, and boy is it a cracker. The first thing you really notice is how cheap the menu is. I had heard it was cheap, and that's maybe why I left it the last Indian we hadn't tried, but good revues on TA made me curious. It's a little bit of a time warp, typical mains about £4.75, Pilau rice £1,45, Chips £1!, Coffee 60p!!, I haven't seen these prices anywhere on my wide travels in years. Yet the place is well located, only a little down bath Street which runs off one of the main tourist streets in central Southport. The next thing I notice is how friendly and natural the staff are, I see so many forced smiles that vanish as soon as the order is taken, it makes genuine chilled out happy people stand out a mile.Next thing is whats on the menu, at first glance it looks a classic two pot curry house, but closer inspection reveals a few really interesting recipes, I plumped for the Beef Ghoshi Tarkari with vegetable rice, my colleague the Chicken Karahi with pilau rice. Both of these dishes where higher priced but still very very cheap. The Karahi was nice, chicken soft, so was the onions, i say that has we have had many wear the onions are almost raw. And the Ghoshi was simply stunning!. I loved the fact the restaurant includes beef in the meat selections, and If I can get beef I like it hot!, not just chili powder hot, but real fresh chilies with give a more vibrant and widespread heat on the tongue, where chili powder gives a small focused harsh hit on the front. The Ghoshi however wasn't like a Naga or Ghost chili heat, but it did make my brow sweat while my tongue felt it was in a very pleasant place, I could detect a lot of spice mixing going on, this chef knows how to spice and isn't lazy. The beef was fine, not melt in the mouth, but far from chewy, and there was lots of really nice chunks of potato. I would of been impressed with this dish if I had paid £12 or more as I often have in a many places. The rice was pretty good, my veg rice was really nice and the portion seemed huge. We could of just shared the veg rice between us. The Nan was nice too, we always order extra garlic and well done, and that's just how it came.Next visit I might try the Veg Thali, its a selection of small portions, like a sampler dish, and I tell you why this makes my heart smile. it says a lot to me about an Indian Restaurant when the owners and staff know something about Indian culture. I know that sounds strange, but the huge majority of Indians restaurants are not run by Indians. I've traveled many miles by train in India, which is predominantly a vegetarian country, so when you are asked what food you want you are asked if you want "Veg or Non-veg". That cultural difference of making the importance of Veg food much more than that of the Non-veg which iis of course meat, which is by far less important and not a wise selection often. So to see a traditional Thali on a British menu isn't rare, but to see it on the menu as Veg or Non veg is a pure delight for me, even though I love beef! The Belash will be the only Restaurant I visit on my future visits to Southport, I cant wait til I'm there again in November. Oh, did I mention it's open til 2:30am on Fri & Sat!I have to mention one thing that wasn't so excellent, you may notice on the included photo that the Kingfisher draft is a little flat. I've no idea if that was a bad day or not, the glasses seemed clean enough. it wasn't unpleasant enough to enjoy, or mention, and the rest of the experience was so delightful it seemed a shame too to say anything negative.

A first rate Indian meal in surroundings that haven't changed in decades (whether that is good, bad or irrelevant is up to you). I visited the Belash on 28 August just after opening at around 6.45pm. Despite the early hour, the restaurant was already busy and the car park full. The latter is not a big problem as on-street parking is free after 6pm anyway and there were plenty of spaces within a minute or so.I used to eat at the Belash pretty much on a weekly basis when I lived in Southport but haven't been back in over 8 years since we moved away. I have to say that the exterior really does need bit of renovation; it appears not to have been attended to in the 8 years since our last visit. The same can be said of the Taj Mahal, which is on the opposite side of Bath Street, and probably even more marked there as I recall it as a more up market venue. This does seem a bit of a theme for the whole Bath Street area which is looking rather run down.Inside, the Belash is virtually unchanged from my first visit 25 or more years ago. The layout, furniture and paintings seem to be the same although the walls now have a plain painted finish. The toilets are small bit adequate and a lot cleaner than I remember--although that might be the difference between eating at 7pm and 1am! As a last touch of nostalgia, the familiar Indian music played (quietly) in the background. Now to the food. Just as I remembered, the poppadoms were big, crispy and accompanied by an excellent pickle tray. We didn't have starters as I recalled the large portion sizes and this is another thing that hadn't changed. We took a traditional selection of meat dopiaza, chicken karahi and chicken kurma (for my son) with pilau rice and a few side orders. All were well seasoned and individual in flavour. The beef and chicken were tender and substantial in quantity. The sauces had a good consistency and nice glossy appearance. Service has been criticised by a few reviewers here but that doesn't accord with our experience on this occasion. We were seated immediately on entering the restaurant and drinks orders taken. Our drinks were delivered within a couple of minutes and food orders taken as soon as we were ready. Poppadoms were brought out almost immediately. The main course followed about 15 minutes later--which is reasonable for food cooked to order. The waiter was friendly and spent as much time with us (and the other customers) as the fairly busy restaurant allowed.Overall, a pleasant meal at a pretty low cost. Service was good and not unreasonably slow. A very traditional style Indian restaurant but none the worse for that. Don't let the admittedly shabby exterior put you off.

Service was very poor. Waited over 90 mins and ghe when rang up to see where it was.driver who answered was very abrupt saying it is what it is. Then when food did eventually arrive the other driver was no better. Told him to take it away. I know they're busy but to just keep you waiting is very poor customer service give it a miss from now on
