Closure I was in the Beer Hall on Saturday and heard a few rumours...... I did however believe that the owners would give the customers ( and staff) the courtesy of some notice of closure - if it was indeed inevitable. Website and social media gives no indication of a clearly pre-planned closure. Halewood International, as the owners, have behaved in a sh?tyy way (again - after the covid era treatment of staff) and deserve nothing but failure. I wish the staff and loyal customers - all the best for the future. A long standing and frequent customer

Unfortunately it has now been permanently closed since 9th September 2024 by the owners so don't make a special trip there. The Eagle and Child pub in Staveley is a great alternative if you're in the village.

Nice beers, ok seating area in car park outside. But BEWARE since we last came 2 years ago there is now a charge for parking. We didn't see any signs for parking charges, it might have been helpful if there had been a notice on the bar or on the website. We now have a £60 fine to pay, making our pints VERY expensive.

Such a lovely place with a great selection of drinks and friendly staff. I've had the pizza a few times - each time hoping it was an 'off time' the last time. Unfortunately, every single pizza has been underbaked. Doughy. Still malleable! Sad face. I really want to love it with it being one of very few options to takeaway/ eat in in Staveley!

Visited here the other day, after a lovely walk from Ings along the Dale's Way. A great place if you like real ales, plenty on tap to choose from, however unfortunately on our visit, there was no helles. We did manage to taste a few and had an enjoyable afternoon, sitting in the sun. To be fair, not the best outdoor seating area, as in the middle of a retail park and car park. Definitely worth a visit and you can purchase their ales to take away too at reasonable prices.

We called here so my partner could taste their porter (I had lager). There is a great range of different beers and lagers plus soft drinks. We initially sat outside which was interesting, not least because someone came for a pint on her horse! It’s a small business park so we were effectively sitting next to a huge car park which, while not the most attractive, had seating that made it feel less industrial. The inside is equally basic with a mix of wooden tables and seats and upended barrels to stand and chat. We visited early afternoon and it was relatively busy and I would imagine it has quite a crowd on evenings and weekends. Staveley has enough of interest to warrant a visit - even an overnight stay, especially if you like walking and, if you like beer I would say this place is a must.

Two-storied beer hall with around a dozen or more tables outside. At the moment, its more luck than management that gets you a seat due to limited availability. One barman; one person doing the bills; two servers seems the plan at the moment. Reasonable range of beers & spirits; bottles also plus an take-out service.

The menu here is very limited and sourced from very nice cafe next door where there is a more extensive menu. Unfortunately if you want to eat and have a beer here you have to order from a burger menu. As a vegetarian I was limited to a halloumi burger, a big slab of cheese with some dressings. Greasy and not recommended unless you really love halloumi. The beer was very pleasant and with a menu offering more choices, some a bit healthier than a burger, we would be happy to come again.

this is the second time we visited this place and we had really nice time. we were staying nearby - about 1 hour walk, and did 3 local walks around Staveley. Of course we had to stop for beer - and managed to try some more this time. My favourite is Sour Pale - i hope i got it correct. this time we couldn't get any food as they are not cooking/serving - i so wanted to eat the Yorkshire pudding i had there 2 years ago ;o[ but the staff were very friendly and even offered if we want food to eat with the drinks we can get it from other places and bring it in to eat. i know there is a bakery / cafe next door- More? but it was closed that time. by the way the cafe makes really really nice cakes we are already planning to visit next year and we hope by then the food will be back on as well with the lovely beer. when we visited it was if we have space / table you can sit and drink - no bookings required - just perfect. Lots support the local economy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS: when we where driving back home after the week holiday, we were somewhere on M6 near Manchester already and suddenly i can see a van passing us - Hawkshead Brewery beer delivery !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good job!!!!!!!!!!

We entered the beer hall on Tuesday and were warmly welcomed by the lovely girl behind the bar, after a quick look at the menu we ordered. The bartender recommended her favourite beers and told us we were more than welcome to try before we buy. There was a huge range of beers, the ones we tried were delicious and to be honest I wish I could have spent the entire day there going through them all.Unfortunately, I cannot give my review 5* as I feel the Beer Hall lost a star with it's horrendous food. The clue may be in the name, but reading other reviews I now don't understand why nothing has been done to fix it. I had the Yorkshire Pudding, which the beef was nice but the Yorkshire pudding rock hard. My girlfriend had Mac and Cheese which may as well have been plain pasta, completely tasteless and lacked cheese. Perhaps the menu needs to be looked over, but with some corrections this place could be excellent for lunch as well!Having said all that, we will be back. Just maybe not to eat the food.

Every time we visit the lakes we make a beeline for hawkshead brewery. In the past the food has always been fantastic - kind of an English Tapas vibe going on. Since our last visit the menu has changed significantly and there’s not as much choice. Kids meals were tiny and overall quality of food wasn’t as good. Real shame as this was one of our faves. Hopefully the menu will revert back .

Brilliant bar with 10 hand pulls and 10 kegs. A lot of the beers are quite hoppy (which I like). Plenty of seating and seems to be reasonably busy even on weekdays (I went on a Thursday afternoon and there were around 20 drinkers in here). Prices acceptable and beers are tasty. Food looked ok from what I saw. Seemed inexpensive for light bites chips etc. Additional bar upstairs for special events / and or when busy. Take the time to look around upstairs as you can see the hop / malt store and the brewers making the beers. Artisan foody place next door too. Well worth a visit if you're a beer lover and combine it with a trip to the Eagle and Child pub down the road if you have any room left to finish off with another swift half.

The game casserole suet pudding was exceptional and should have been among the main courses rather than the 'bit more' section. A small fish and chips can be had by ordering plaice goujons or whitebait and a portion of chips (some come just for the chips!). We went to order food at 1.30pm and they told us that they were not serving food as they had been busy - although looking around not many tables appeared to be eating. This was very disappointing to us as we had travelled a fair way to come here, and obviously having hungry children in the group to. If the staff here cannot cope in such quiet times, the management really needs to address this.I gave 2 stars as the beer was very nice - just be wearing in 'busy times' before heading to this establishment.

All in all I tried five different beers and more than pleased with all of them, hence the five star rating. You can rest assured, we will return.

Hubby is a real ale fan so we visited this place as its not too far away from us. The food is quite expensive for what it is to be honest, suspect that a lot of it is bought in and just reheated on site but there you go, sometimes its good and sometimes its not. On the positive side of things hubby enjoyed the real ales and says we will return - but will dine elsewhere I think.

Five of us called for a drink and snacks on our way to the Lakes for the weekend. All the beers we tried were good as always particularly the Windermere Pale and the Drystone stout. For food we ordered a selection of "Beer Tapas" . All were great but we loved the BBQ ribs and sweet corn fritters. Service was fast and efficient, we will definitely return.

I came for a brewery tour so didn't eat but would certainly go back. A thriving location with a naturally a wide range of beers but other drinks are there as well. As a brewery tour I think it's a good introduction due to the smaller size of the plant - helps you get a good overview and you can eat some of the ingredients if you wish. Menu was varied & the food saw looked good.

We were a large family group who went last Sunday and we could not have had better food or service! The roast beef and roast mallard were "to die for". All dietary and other needs were met by friendly and efficient staff. We will be back! Alta la vista.

We have visited this beer hall several times over the years and every time I must have the shepherds pie. It never changes and is always superb and as previously remembered. My husband had fish and chips and he says they were better than last time as the batter was much crispier and not as stodgy. The beer was amazing with something for everyone. My advice is to get there early as it soon fills up. Well worth a visit.

Best place for roast beef I have ever been to friendly staff make a place to go for a beer and roast beef. Only one thing that is against it is a poor selection of veggie food. There is plenty of parking also a very good place to meet up with family and friends.

Menu leads you to expect a high standard of tasty food to be enjoyed. You may question the £10.95 '5' egg omelette, two eggs only suspected, most definitely not 5 as described. Caused a problem later. Cremated whitebait and goujons with barely any fish at all in one of them and very greasy. No one minds paying top prices for great quality food but the food here was very disappointing. I'm sick of travelling around the Lakes and paying the 'tourist' prices for substandard food. A great gastro-pub or bistro style restaurant selling locally sourced food at fair prices is sorely needed. Don't just print a good menu and trap people on holiday with poor delivery of its promise.

As soon as we walked through the door the staff were welcoming and very attentive. The food was lovely and good value for money. We sat outside which is a great little sun trap for those rare sunny days in the Lake District. We would high recommend and we will definitely be back .

An impromptu choice to visit Plato's today and what a brilliant decision and choice. We had a really superb meal and were made to feel very welcome by Ronnie, who looked after us! We had the fish finger sourdough sandwich and the chicken and paprika mayo sandwich...accompanied by parmesan and truffle chips 🍟 😋 absolutely delicious. All washed down with a delightful glass of rose wine. We will definitely be returning. It was such a great culinary treat.

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
