🍺We always have a great time at The Beer Engine 🤩 They have a rotating selection of cask and keg beers, so there's always something new to try. We love a fruity sour in particular and they always have something great on. 🍲But the beer isn't the only star of the show - their global tapas is the perfect food to compliment a few beers! We shared a bunch of plates between friends, and everything was so flavorful and delicious. 🤤 My favorites were the Korean chicken and the delicious halloumi. The loaded fries are delicious too and a huge portion that's great to share. There's a bit of an Asian influence on most of the food due to their link with sister bars @tramshedbar and @theoldworkshopkelham host @dumplingcitysheff This essentially, is Dumpling City's tapas offering, and they smash it ! ✨The Beer Engine has a really laid-back vibe, and the staff are super friendly. Amazing selection of craft beer, some regular, some specials. All the beers go well with the pub tapas style food which is reasonably priced and provides tasty, good sized portions. The staff are friendly, helpful and happy to help with suggestions.

We visited Beer Engine for a drink and was contemplating getting some food as I’ve heard lovely things. We sat in the beer garden and looked at the menu. As we were sitting there, we noticed that the place is overrun with rats. We noticed at least three rats at one time. What makes this worse is that the staff came out to clear glasses, the rats were milling around and the member of staff just casually ignored them as if it was normal. Eat here at your own risk…

I’ve visited this place a good number of times and always had a great experience until yesterday. I ordered a craft beer from the bar and decided on some nuts too. The barman kind of huffily walked off to find the snack and then - and I’m not kidding here - literally threw them on the floor with force. He then picked them up, shaking them violently before placing them on the bar for me to take. I paid in a kind of stunned amazement. As I was alone I spent some time watching the same employee be truly delightful to some guests and then treat others, like me, with utter contempt. In one instance sarcastically saying ‘here’s your crisp and refreshing [beer name] - the customer responding with similar stunned amazement. I’m not sure if the Beer Engine has a problem with customers ordering snacks, or perhaps certain types of beer but my suggestion would be to remove them from sale if it’s so irksome to serve. If I were a psychiatrist I’d perhaps be concerned about the employee’s bipolar behaviour. As I’m not I’d suggest they are rapidly going to run out of custom if they choose to dislike every other person they serve - starting with me.

Friendly, busy bar with a great selection of beers on tap and a nice beer garden. Staff very friendly too.

Amazing food and staff are incredibly friendly

I’ve heard good things about the roast at The Beer Engine so it’s been on my list a while to try. There is only one option available, it’s one choice for non vegan too, this time it was a Wellington with a lentil filling. Good selection of veg including cauliflower cheese. No Yorkshire puddings for the vegan dinners. Menu is a little confusing and it would be better to have a vegan roast option, rather than the vegan and vegetarian being listed together. They are looking into this however. They are happy to serve half portions if the full portion is too much. My friend did this and was able to try one of the puddings, the sticky toffee, and she really enjoyed this. 3 1/2 stars ⭐️ Would like to see a clearer menu and it would be good to have at least another roast choice on the menu too. Car parking available next to the pub which is paid for.

THE BEER ENGINE DO NOT TAKE ALLERGIES OR DIETERY REQUIREMENTS SERIOUSLY. I booked in for 2 vegan Sunday roasts, my boyfriend requested they both be made vegan as I'm vegan with a dairy allergy. When I got home I had a severe allergic reaction. My eyes started swelling and my throat was red and itchy. I hadn't eaten anything else that day so some part of the roast must have had dairy in it. I was really upset as I was looking forward to supporting vegan options at a cosy independent, but I highly suspect their vegan roast was either not vegan or was contaminated with dairy. I contacted them on Instagram and got a pretty terse reply a week later, misspelling my name and reassuring me the dish was vegan. Be wary if you have an allergy or dietary requirement.

Reasonably priced good quality alcohol free beers

New favourite Sunday lunch place. One meat, one vegetarian, one vegan option. Great beer options too. All that plus attentive but not overbearing service.

The Sunday dinners are amazing and the service is spot on. Great place for night out too as they have an excellent selection of cask and keg beers.

Great range of beers, wonderful tapas and a beer garden. Plenty of seating, much of it now undercover, even when it's really busy. And always a lovely atmosphere.

Sizzling atmosphere. Had the Dirty Jerk Fries which were amazing. Little pricy but definitely worth it.

The beer garden is stunning! The small plates are well priced and are delicious. There's a good mix of meat, veggie, and vegan options. There's a great selection of cask and tap and wine too. All the staff are really lovely! Great for Sundays, after work drinks, or casual drinks/food.

Our favourite go to for drinks, always busy with a good range on the bar with friendly attentive staff.

Delicious food and drink. Excellent beer selection. Gorgeous beer garden ( with cover if it’s raining). Lovely pub full of character. Easy to access from city centre, Ecclesall Road and London Road. Well worth a visit after work or for food any time .

Down to earth pub with great range of beers and interesting tapas style snacks. Staff couldn't be more friendly.

Wemt for drinks with a large group of friends on Friday evening and everyone loved this place. Flawless experience and could not fault any aspect.

Only pooped in for a quick pint before an escape room. Nice relaxed atmosphere, great drink selection. Not too noisy if want to have a chat and catch up with friends

Nice beers but pricey for the area. Someone from a nearby table dropped a glass and it smashed... The staff were aware of it and it wasn't too busy but nobody came and cleared it up. As a newcomer to the pub, I didn't feel especially welcome by the bar staff who all seemed somewhat nonchalant.

No qualms with the beer selection which is excellent, overall a nice place I'd recommend. Picking holes, I would enjoy if the pub had more personalization as the decor is really quite plain. It quite tricky to find a seat (not their fault it's popular of course) and I find it a bit of a hybrid at certain times of evening between foodie and drinking which can create an uneven atmosphere.

Lovely pub, a stone cold classic. Had a couple of nice pints, before moving on up to West St and drinking too much.

Surprisingly quiet on a Saturday night, but great bar with solid choice of local beers and some from around UK and further afield. Friendly guys behind the bar, great to chat to. Would visit again for sure.

Great place for a nice chilled out pint, slightly off the beaten track, but not too far, well worth a visit for a decent beer, and the food is very tasty. Always great for a pre or post match pint or two as well.

Hadn't been in Sheffield CC for a while and so was a bit gobsmacked when I saw the prices of the selection of pints. Nevertheless I order a pint of Pale having been allowed to taste first, and some chicken and calamari from a Tapas-esque menu. Beer was fantastic, calamari was OK but I'll put the "OK" due to having just come back from Spain and had it fresh as it gets for a week. The chicken though was outstanding, so much so I had to order another plate... Just to be sure 😂 Would absolutely go back. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were lovely and friendly - very much what you'd expect in Sheffield

Lovely small beer garden albeit with some rubbish under bench I was sitting at. Got bit noisy with a large group. Good choice of ales from reasonable to expensive. Worth a visit.

First time I have been there. Great pub with a great selection of craft beers - some which are local. Had a selection of plates of food to share and it was delicious. I had never heard of it before and what an introduction. It has a sheltered beer garden as well. Will definitely be coming back.

Enjoyed our visit here. Friendly staff, good beer and an absolutely belting bowl of fries. Will definitely be back to try more off their menu.

What a gem. Staff were absolutely stars and very friendly. Small plates tapas style food, which was delicious. Super dog friendly. What’s not to love? Worth another visit.

The pub itself is really well decorated and the staff were really friendly. The reason it lost a star is because although it was a huge range of beers (at least 20 on tap), a fair few were quite "samey". For example, 6 pilsners? Having said that, there was still something for everyone. It'd be 5 if the selection was a bit more balanced.

Went here before footy Yesterday. Very convenient location. They do Tapas which is very nice as well (especially the Korean Fried Chicken). Also serves good beer.

What a brilliant find. The bar staff on the Thursday evening that we called in were welcoming about the interesting array of beers on offer and we enjoyed a few well drawn pints of a stout and a cider. The atmosphere was very pleasant and I was able to observe staff sharing their knowledge with new customers and at the end of the evening properly cleaning the taps. I love visiting Sheffield for the walking, the city and pubs and will definitely be revisiting this pub on future trips especially as it was only 100 yards from the hotel. I'd say a great start to a pub crawl but I'd be happy sat there all evening.

Nice outside seating area and good beers. Tasty tapas, but unfortunately they had run out of a lot of items (3 for 2 which is probably why).

Wonderful beer, good food, excellent staff, such a lovely bar, could not fault it.

We popped in to the Beer Engine by chance before a gig at the Foundry and it ended up being a real highlight. The beer selection is fantastic and the tapas was delicious. We had a chat with the landlord who was really welcoming and has obviously put a lot of love and thought into the place including making it feeling cosy and only serving quality food and drink. Highly recommended.

Superb selection of beers and friendly staff in a lovely pub. Don't be put off by where it is, near a main road, as the inside is great. We visited on Sunday lunchtime and so didn't get to try the tapas, but the roast was excellent. Definitely one to come back to.

Good beer, great pub garden for the location, beer is quite expensive so only one or two beers out of the 10+ on offer are affordable
