Ate here twice. Food is reasonably priced. However, no fish in the fish pie and I am 100% sure that our fish n chips came from the local chippy. No way was this cooked on site. Another meal had totally different chips served. And I definitely wouldn’t order from whatever chippy it was! Staff v nice, service good and some music we heard was absolutely fantastic. We would return but will be selective in what we order.

Visited twice in one week, the view from the restaurant is superb and we can’t fault the beer and cider absolutely superb. The second time we visited chose the special fron the menu which was fish pie, so very disappointing , no pieces of fish visible and apparently the fish pie is brought in as fish pie mix. The salad was great though So go for drinks . Wish we’d gone for fish and chips that looked as one would have expected at a sea side inn and much more reasonable

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch at The Beaver. The roasts and pan fried sea bass were delicious, as were the brownies & clotted cream ice cream and the lemon posset, all of which were very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is welcoming & friendly & the service was excellent. We had a gorgeous view over the estuary from our table. Will definitely be back.

I booked an early table to ensure we had eaten before the jazz started. We were shown to a table upstairs not far from where the band were to perform so assumed the jazz was for the diners and the people in the main body os the pub were secondary but would still get to enjoy the music. This was not true. The saxophonist was excellent but only turned round to us once in 2 hours. The drummer and bass player were sideways on but I wouldn’t have known he was playing an instrument as I only saw his back view. What’s wrong with turning sideways on so no one gets a constant back view, or change position after the break? The food was typical pub grub but tasty and generous portions a bit carb heavy. Fish pie and bread? Efficient and friendly waiting staff. A good night spoiled by poor staging.

We absolutely love this place and visit every time we are on holiday. Although we usually just stop by for drinks, when on holiday in September we decided to have some lunch there and wow, we were not disappointed! Excellent food and fairly priced. The staff are so welcoming and it’s super dog friendly and while still having a great pub atmosphere, our 15 month old couldn’t have been more welcomed either. We can’t wait to return next year, thank you ☺️

Bagged a last min table on a Sunday Marmalade Club night. Atmosphere great although rammed and no elbow room…as to be expected in a popular local pub. Service fantastic, bar staff quick to serve at a very busy bar, noting who was next in queue etc… sign of a well run bar ..…and especially considering how busy they were. Hats off to the waitress for not allowing general grifters to use the exit out of the restaurant to save themselves battling the crowds to get in and out for a puff! Music was great…. But we were struggling to enjoy it from our table. Food lovely, although by 9pm the roast was beyond its best (as would be expected) but surprised it was still being served that late in the day. Deffo recommend and will defo return ☺️

We actually went to another restaurant for food before coming here ( we decided to leave as small menu) I cannot tell you how glad we are we left. The food was AMAZING. This is a very traditional looking pub so my snobbery thought the meal I was going to get would be the same. I was SO Wrong. I had fish pie my hubby had fish from the special board daughter fish and chips. Every bite was incredible. The staff were lovely, views beautiful and drinks cold.. We will 100% be back..

very helpful in seating our family of ten! The pub/restaurant is old fashioned but nothing wrong with that. It was clean, airy, bright and overlooking the sea. All the staff we met were really nice and helpful. The food…I think between us we tried most of the menu, all excellent quality, well priced food. Favorites were the pork belly bites, the tagliatelle and the vegan ravioli. And what a change to actually receive piping hot food! The drinks were reasonable except the children’s orange juice @ £3.50 each we thought a bit steep. They could do with a children’s menu as the small plate menu was still a bit large for a 3yr old. Lovely atmosphere, very popular pub, definitely an Appledore must visit place.

A class pub with a traditional way about it. We've been a few times to the Beaver and enjoyed the Quiz night which was great fun and very inclusive, we've also eaten there the food was terrific and service was good, all at reasonable prices. It's located by the waters edge and has outside seating, dogs are welcome in the bar but not the restaurant. Booking a table for food is a good idea during the busy periods as it's pretty popular.

Perfect pub. Myself, my boyfriend and son visited this pub a few times on our holiday last week. Has a lovely view of the water around the back in the outdoor seating area. My son loved watching all the waves. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. The pub has loads of activities for adults and kids. Board games, pool table, darts and crazy golf. Crazy golf is only £2 per a person. My 11 year old was asking to go back every day of the holiday to play on the pool table. Food is lovely. Was very pleasantly surprised with the food portion size. Only gutted that it’s not my local pub but will be back again when visiting appledore!

The atmosphere was second to none with a real buzz about the place and live music (shanty band) playing. A cosy, traditional Devon country pub serving a good Sunday lunch. The staff were very welcoming and the locals charming to chat with. We enjoyed a roast beef lunch with the trimmings, and a delicious bowl of bread pudding and custard. Good value at under £20 each and a lovely place to be on a rainy winters day. Car park just across the road on the A386, don't drive by, stop and decide what you think.

We have heard that a new chef is just starting work here. Perhaps this explains our sorry excuse for a meal. For the record we have had several excellent if pricey meals at this restaurant. This meal was pricey but a million miles from excellent. There was a weird-tasting buttersquash soup oddly paired with a far from fresh hard pork pie apparently found in the freezer, a tiny square of cheese and a portion of chutney. Did they run out of bread? Apparently knives were also in short supply because we ended up sharing one between us. There was an oddly flavoured sausage roll type thing with almost raw cabbage, fried carrots in skins and a separate dish from which three lonely roast potatoes contemplated this culinary car crash - and which were the only pleasantly edible items. All this in a restaurant formerly well-regarded for its excellent home-grown vegetables. We felt ill afterwards. We noted during our visit although the gardens were quite busy with family visitors few of them chose to eat in the restaurant. We did wonder why - and now we know. Rosemoor is not a cheap day out and hard-pressed families are not going to add to the expense of visiting the gardens with a bad expensive meal. Other restaurants are available and sadly we can't consider coming back unless we see clear evidence of improvement in Tripadvisor reviews.
