Staff utterly amazing, put that first Arrived from a family gathering, perfectly situated for our trip to our grandies next day . Rooms spotless, sufficient and lovely amenities in the bathroom. Great honesty bar in the room, nibbles, sofas and a few alcohol beverages. Unfortunately later that night I had to deal with food poisoning from lunch at another venue. Then 0730 we were woken by a fire alarm, the poor staff were so kind and apologetic. Silver lining ... We are stood here today and not crispbread on a mortuary table I would like to see an extendable magnifying mirror put in the room. The rooms are very nicely decorated but very dark. But how much time do u stay in a room, unless u get ill. Won't hesitate to recommend this little gem. Kas and Richard Westray

Awesome clean pub renovated around its historical charm, new bathroom & bed, pillows and comfort was excellent. Great restaurant downstairs with extremely friendly staff. Thoroughly recommend. Excellent location to cafes, supermarket.

Went to the restaurant at The Bear today, convenient location right on the high street. However the food was disappointing, had the Sunday Roast with pork belly for £19, the only thing I was happy with was the Yorkshire pudding. The roast potato was not freshly cooked & hard (could be from frozen or overnight or recooked), the gravy was very watery, the pork crackling was rock hard, the apple sauce was cold from fridge, I hardly can believe the food standard I received in a restaurant. Bad food experience we have had on our Sunday day out.

Disappointing, not what one expects from a Youngs pub.

Absolutely top notch. Will always be my first choice if stopping in the area. Lovely rooms, gorgeous food and top class people.

Decent pub with food. Parking can be an issue at busy times but I've often found space in the Waitrose overflow car park. Fair range of beers, wines and coffee. Nice in the summer to sit outside and in the winter the smokers can sit outside too as there are heaters.

I ordered a full English breakfast I was asked how I would like my eggs cooked? poached I said,the thing was i didn't get any eggs they forgot them and so did i didn't realise until i got home🤣

We have stayed at the Bear 3 times now, and the experience always improves. The bedrooms have a very cosy decor. The quality of bed & bedding is first rate, you're guaranteed a good nights sleep here. The service from the staff is top notch also. On the Saturday morning with a race meet on at Sandown, plenty of hotel guests in for breakfast the pub was then overrun with the Surrey Hills cycling fraternity. Middle aged lycra as far as the eye could see!! Jacob - who was on duty, took it all in his stride & attended to everyone promptly & diligently. Exceptional service as ever! And speaking of breakfast, the food at the Bear is superb. Still the best Full English Breakfast I've ever had. We will be back, we love staying at the Bear. Quiz night on a Sunday evening was very enjoyable too!!

Visited today for Mother’s Day, honest review the service by Ben, Charlie, Ethan and Ollie was immaculate. Ambience perfect.

I stayed at The Bear for convenience as it close to the local hospice where my friend spent their final weeks. The staff were warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are a good size, the bathrooms are good too. The beds are heavenly! The rooms are serviced every day if you wish. The little sweet treat daily was an added bonus. It is situated centrally for all the local amenities and has good bus and road connections to a variety of attractions (Hampton Court, Thorpe Park etc). The food is also good and hearty, well presented and tasty. I had a great experience and would return again.

i visited the bear on Friday for a meal and enjoyed lovely food and had great service from Ethan we will be coming back.
