Goks Kitchen in Elmbridge

I'm really surprised by some of the previous reviews but looking at the dates, they were some time ago. I went for lunch with a friend in July 2024 and was so impressed with the food and very friendly service, I returned with my husband for lunch. We really enjoyed it and would return again.

The food is lovely here, favourite is the Thai chicken burger the meat is cooked really well and not dry. Staff are always friendly.

I am a regular at Cafe Wood (or ex-Gok's Kitchen), visiting with my wife or friends at least twice a month, and I must say, their new menu is a delightful surprise! The dishes are not only delicious but also very reasonably priced. While they currently close at 5 pm and do not offer dinner service, I'm eagerly looking forward to the day when they extend their hours to include dinner. Despite this, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try, especially if you're on High Street in Weybridge. You won't be disappointed!

Disappointing. I had the ratatouille breakfast… it was oily, with barely any feta, the tiniest piece of baguette slice lathered with margarine 🤢. The bench seats are far too low to be with the tables and the coffee was poor. A shame.

Had a coffee here today and the servers were both so nice and inviting! One was a guy with curly hair who was very enthusiastic and friendly, the other was a girl with dark hair who was kind also. Very good customer service!

THIS IS NO LONGER GOKS KITCHEN!! IT IS CALLED CAFE WOOD! "Cafe Wood" has amazing food and their service is 5 star. The chef is a michelin star chef. The presentation, the quality and the taste of the food is AMAZING!! I highly reccommend coming to Cafe Wood!!! The previous owners didnt take website down therefore the phone number is wrong. Been here a few times before the introduction of Hong Kong cuisine to the menu and I just love how freshly made the Turkish food is. Just tried it again today after the introduction of Hong Kong cuisine and must say compliments to chef Daniel for making me a delicious sweet n sour pork burger 🍔 the halloumi wrap my wife had was divine 😋 the wait staff were amazing as usual 👏 thank you all!

*N.B - NO LONGER CALLED 'GOKS KITCHEN'. It is now called Café Wood and is Thai food, NOT Turkish food.* The website is of the PREVIOUS OWNERS and does not work. So it you book on the website they don't honour your booking. You have to call to book. We found out the hard way when we arrived for brunch with 6 people and found we didn't have a booking. They didn't seem to appreciate we booked online and said it was 'the previous owners' so we had to sit outside. Nevertheless, the food was lovely, staff very friendly (although obviously quite new) and they offered us a table inside when it became available, but we had already settled. Definitely worth trying, lovely brunch but it's NOT Gok's Kitchen or Turkish food, which is a shame as that too was a lovely place.

Everything just does right. We ordered the Hong Kong style XO sauce udon which is not bad but priced at £15 we are not sure if we would look for alternative food places with a higher c/p ratio next time.

We had fried chicken burgers and all three of us ended up vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach cramps from food poisoning. Tried to call restaurant and to email them, but neither worked.

We all three got food poisoning, so not good. Unable to contact restaurant by phone or email, as none are working.

Very nice traditional breakfast. It arrived quickly and was piping hot. The back area could do with a tidy up.

The chicken in my wrap was RAW!!! The menu is very different, and all new staff -- assuming it's a new owner. We stayed, despite being disappointed in the menu. I took a few bites to find the chicken in my wrap was COMPLETELY RAW. This didn't seem to be a huge concern to any of the staff there - has had to ask three times to speak to someone. The first person we alerted took the sandwich away and a member of staff never appeared again for over 10 minutes. The manager still presented the two of us a £30 bill (excluding my raw chicken sandwich) after telling her we were leaving. I'm shook.

Never visited before. And what a delight of a place this was when we had the chance to. We were there in the morning and had excellent coffee and breakfasts. It has a lovely, lovely garden too. It’s not pretentious at all like some places but rather quirky and actually the staff are noticeably real characters , which I imagine can be easily wrongly read. This is not a yummy mummy place with push chairs and screaming kids dominating the place. This is about relaxing and enjoying the great food and wonderful ambience.

Very sad to hear this is now no longer a Turkish cafe.

very nice café great outdoor area, great atmosphere. i found the one waitress to have a strange attitude, as if we were a hassle and were annoying, this i felt the first time we visited. we re visited just to make sure it was not us. food was good, bit pricey for what it was. one problem is the cheap cheap condiments you are given the mayonnaise sachets etc are the cheapest you can buy. if you are serving decent food why serve such cheap condiments. also on getting the bill i examined it and noticed they had charged for toast with the traditional breakfast. i checked the menu again and toast was supposed to come with the breakfast. i did point this out. either staff dont know the menu or pricing. or its a cheeky way of making more money.

Amazing food and friendly service. We come from Addlestone regularly to visit this cafe, it’s such a nice experience and varied food range. Excellent, proper coffee.

Love this place, can be a little expensive for a pensioner treating his grandchildren. Staff are very polite. And cakes are homemade.

Went here for lunch last week. Hardly anyone there and given the lunch prices, that’s not surprising! Beware that the prices stated on the website do not reflect the actual price in the restaurant. A chicken wrap with a few chips (not even a large portion) was nearly £15. Nice but that’s too much as it was more of a snack than a meal really. I will be avoiding lunchtime and evening from now on.

I've been a few times now for brunch with a friend. The setting is beautiful and there's outside space too (which I haven't used yet but plan to in the summer months). I've had food both times and on both occasions was fantastic! The coffee is made perfectly and the baked goods on offer are delicious.. oh, and the staff are friendly, professional and approachable.. I can see why my friend goes time and time again and I'll most certainly be back when visiting the area x

I ordered breakfast today to be delivered. I ordered a deli breakfast which cost over £10 and what arrived was more than disappointing. I should have just cooked and not have bothered, I can't even calculate the probable cost of what arrived l.

Excellent, it always been and still is the Best, could not be any better.

Nice location and well decorated. Good energy as you walk in. A little tight but has nice space at the back in the summer. Food is good not great. We've eaten here a few times. It can be hit and miss. Where it falls down is the service - no charisma, no energy, no relationship. Doesn't match the decor of the place at all. Very transactional and often rude. For the price you pay there is a much higher expectation for this.

Have been wanting to try for ages. Good atmosphere and busy! The breakfast was delicious can’t wait to come back!!

The noisiest place I have visited in ages. Impossible to talk/hear the person seated at your side. Staff kind and beatiful setting. But far from enjoyable unfortunately. Will never return there neither recommend it to anyone.

So so nice. Garden area at the rear is a rare find. Main area at the front is very cosy. Staff are awesome. Cool place.

Best place I've found (so far 😉) for brunch in Weybridge. Just get there before 12.30 when they stop serving breakfasts (possible improvement opportunity there?). Staff always friendly and patient. Update: outdoor seating in the back is great - warm, covered, blankets and heaters. Loo (toilet) rating 5/5: unisex, clean, fresh, spacious.

Always a good call for breakfast or brunch. Cosy little rear courtyard garden which is covered and heated. Very friendly staff and lovely food.

The food is lovely, staff very friendly and I would have given them 5 stars if their service was good. I went with my daughter today, it was very quiet about 2.30 and we both ordered a wrap, only 2 other people in cafe and they were eating cakes only, yet we waited over 30 minutes for our order to come!!! When it did arrive however it was delicious

Very spacious inside and they also have a garden for seating. Staff were great and helpful. I had the vegan breakfast option which was fine, coffee was good. They have an extensive menu and offer Turkish cuisine.

After a long walk, I was fancying a milkshake. Going into the new Gok’s Kitchen, there were only 3 flavours of milkshake and the service was TERRIBLE! Our server acted as if she didn’t want to be there half the time and it was pricy. The shake did not even taste good. At the same time, it is not 1 star because they were relatively new. However, I would not go back. Stick with Aromas.

Very expensive and portion size so small. The girl serving us told us the wraps were very big and you could share them. Shockingly for £11 for a veggie wrap, it was so small and not for sharing.

Happened here by chance and wasn’t disappointed. Took a hot and a cold mezze for 2. Great flavours and fresh food, came out full up and all at a reasonable rate too. Friendly and accommodating staff. Has tables on the street, indoors and in the small outside garden area. Would certainly eat here again.

Had a really good meal sitting out the back with my wife. Shared a hot mezza starter followed by a lamb wrap. She enjoyed two starter salads. Excellent!

Absolutely cannot recommend enough , the lamb and hummus were some of the best I've ever tasted and the service was brilliant , also the coffee is delicious!

My son noticed this spot so we tried it. Amazing great customer service lovely place and the food was amazing recommend the mixed grill 💯💯 we will be back.

First family night out since lock down. Lovely little beer garden with lots of hanging lights. Service good. Hubby enjoyed the Efes beer. Had wraps (falafel one stunning), kofte kebabs & chicken kebabs. All delicious. Loved that every table had its own heater and individual blankets for each person. Will definitely be going back

Walking past and thought shop looks nice and their milkshake sign looks good. Purchased two at £4.50 each. What we recieved looked nothing like the image shown on the display and tasted of just milk, although was meant to be chocolate. Daughter was left very upset.

We went here for dinner pre lockdown and loved the food. We have been twice since and will certainly be back once lockdown has eased.

Visiting Gok's kitchen for the second time now and all I have is positive vibes for this place. Staff are chilled and friendly and coffee and cakes are delicious. Cant go wrong with this place! Will surely be adding this to my go-to list!

I went to Gok's Kitchen for the first time last weekend and it is among one of the best independent coffee shops I have been to. Though he only opened in Jan 2020 he has successfully survived all the unfortunate events that have unfolded this year and for good reason. The customer service is extremely great, the coffee and the food is fantastic and the atmosphere of the cafe is great. Gok is an extremely humble man and when you speak with him you can tell he cares about every person that walks through the door. They aren't customers to him, they are humans. Will be going there more often. Keep up the great work!!

Brunch was delicious here - the smashed avocado on sourdough bread with either bacon or smoked salmon (or both)!

Really not great at all. Lamb cutlets cooked to death. Lamb kofte not very nice. Hummus with lamb pretty good. Sauces really bad. Feels like corners are being cut here.

I wish I could give more stars than five.. we sat at the back garden , the girl who served us was very friendly and bubbly and gave us perfect recommendations. We had a good quality coffees with fresh , homemade tasty cakes.. Yes ....we will definitely will go back there again and again.. Special thanks to the girl who served us ( I forgot her name)😉

I have been 3 times already since its opening and I am in love. Great atmosphere, amazing service and excellent food. The guy (owner?) is the kindest person and he remembers his costumers, he does make you feel extremely confortable. The food is unbelievable: The best vegan burger even! I am looking forward to discover the rest of the menu with my four-legged friend.

This coffee shop has great tasting coffee probably better than the big chains. Lovely decor & friendly staff. The fact that they have home made gluten free cakes makes me want to go back.
