The Beacon Lounge in Redcar and Cleveland

I ordered a pannie and a tea. The tea came after about 5 minutes but then we we waiting a further 20 minutes for the food. I was worried as I had my car in a car park and was about to run out of time. It was clear that the staff had forgotten about the order and only started to cook when I chanced up the order. Very disappointed.

Firstly I'd like to say it's a lovely place, first time going and heard a lot of nice things about the place. The only issue was last night(Saturday) me and some friends were out for our friend's birthday and we came for a drink as they recommended the cocktails. We were stood at the bar and I ordered 2 cocktails before my friends and they'd said they'd bring them over to the table which is fine. we'd waited quite a while and then my friend's cocktails came before mine. I worked it out that I waited 28 minutes for 2 cocktails. I get it I do it's a Saturday night, busy which you'd expect and I work in hospitality myself so I understand. But to wait that long and then have other people's drinks arrive before mine especially since I ordered before them was a bit annoying. Our entire table had finished their drinks before we even got ours. We do have to mention the cocktails were lovely but we felt as if we had to rush our drinks as our friends were done and ready to move on. Don't get me wrong its a lovely place and I'll be coming back as i'd like to try other items of food and drink they have on offer but the speed of service may need stepping up a little as at times I saw only one person doing the drinks with loads of checks on and barely anyone else helping them despite the others not serving. i felt sorry for them, watching them doing all the drinks by themselves.

Been coming to this bar for a fair few months with the quiz being on and enjoying the different versions of pizza's and sandwiches. The staff are very friendly and it is not badly priced at all. Enjoy this place and I think I always will. :)

We arrived at 6.15 pm and were 7 family members. It’s a fairly limited menu with mainly pizzas, but that’s what we wanted. When ordering we were advised that there was an hours wait for food, but that was fine. There was also a nearly half hour wait for cocktails. As it turned out the pizza took about 90 minutes to arrive, but they were excellent. I don’t know if the delays were due to lack of staff or cooking facilities. The sea views are unmatched and the staff were all great.

Visited some years ago just after the Beacon was opened and not too impressed. The new owners, don't know how long they have been there, have changed the Beacon in an unbelievable way. Very impressed with layout, decor snd atmosphere. Although we only called for a lunchtime snack we were very impressed. Great coffee and excellent Paninis. Prices good too. Staff very unobtrusive and efficient although too busy at times as if they were a little over worked. Our pet hate is to see tables not cleaned as customers left. Not here, as customers left, tables cleared and cleaned. Very impressed, this must be the best in Redcar, although the menu limited. Plenty of outdoor seating which will be great when (if) the sun shines.

I called in on a Monday at 12.30 for a pannini with my Dad. It was quiet and there were 3 members of staff viable. We got drinks straight away but simple panninis took 30 minutes to be served was far too long for quick bite to eat. Once it arrived the fire alarm went off followed by the awful smell of smoke. The staff continued to serve food for a further 5 minutes while the alarm still sounded and at no point came round to say there was no need to leave even though the alarm message told us to do so. I definitely won't go back.

Lovely spot in Redcar. We go for drinks, the cocktails are lovely (especially the espresso martinis) and it’s reasonably priced. Staff are friendly too

Great location and not a bad price. We only had drinks but food others ordered looked nice. The only negative is the staff are slow at serving. I’ve been a few times now and it’s always the same. Slow service.

It was my birthday my family took me for food ordered 3 pizzas and a toasted sandwich pizzas arrived they had forgotten the sandwich it arrived when the pizzas were finished the toastie was hardly toasted it was soggy I took it back and encountered a girl with no customer service skills whatsoever it was my first and last time I go in that place again

Called for an early bite before going to see Indiana Jones at the Regent Cinema. They do pizzas and sandwiches which suited us. You get a free drink with every pizza. The location couldn’t be better, right next to the beach and the two staff were excellent.

Great pub on the sea front. We particularly liked the conservatory area, with its lovely sea views. We understand that the roof retracts in warmer weather. There is also a great outdoor terrace.

Absolutely appalling service by a member of staff last night her rudeness and unprofessionalism was absolutely disgraceful her attitude also needs addressing too. To approach a table and start being rude and threatening is just not acceptable we are buying expensive cocktails putting our hard earned money over your bar You have a beautiful bar Shame about rude disrespectful manager well she said she was the manager who thinks she can threaten your customers you really need to train your staff in how to be respectful to your clientele We are a middle aged professional couple not silly teenagers We will not be returning to your bar again To be treat and spoken to in this manner. Sort your member of staffs attitude out before she loses you more business

So far so good. Not dog friendly but lovely food and nice atmosphere. Staff friendly. Even the boss. Tried to persuade him about dogs especially as he was sitting there with his on his lap 🤣🤣

Popped in for a drink on a lunchtime before the races, very nice place and friendly staff, Plenty seats outside to enjoy the sun, pint of Madri, pint of Rekorderlig and a pint of diet coke, £11.95, excellent value for money, Will definitely return if in the area again.

I use the beacon regularly but the service is terrible, it’s not the staffs fault but the management who only has two staff on most nights. One is trying to do cocktails to order and serve beer while the other is trying to cook pizza and help out with drinks. I waited 7 minutes for a beer on a Tuesday nite, come on management get a bar manager in to run the place instead of using two college kids on basic wages and just reeling in your profits

A top class establishment. Always good drinks and great staff. Pizzas are excellent and made to perfection. Top marks all round.

Pizza were lovely but if you all want to eat together forget it. We were the quiet Saturday afternoon 2 pizza and one toastie. We had finished the pizza before toastie arrived. Lovely food but need to learn how to multitask food orders so you get to enjoy the meal together

Trip to the beach with the dog ending in a lovely visit to this little bar that serves cocktails and excellent real pizza!! They are right on the beach, but the sea wall blocks what would be a fantastic view. The staff are so warm and welcoming. Well done guys!!

We had drinks on 2 occasions, as it was very close to our apartment. Great choice of beers and cocktails! We sat outside, which was really lovely next to the sea (though a bit untidy in places).

Called in on Saturday afternoon for a cool drink. Very impressed with the decor since my last visit! Comfortable aquamarine chairs with a lovely sea view and cool breeze through the bi-fold doors. Staff attentive and pleasant. Had a delicious sandwich and a lovely cold drink! Thoroughly recommend!

Lovely bar...rather than a pub. Different circular design. Marvellous views down the coast. Friendly staff, great service. Look forward to visiting again when I'm next in Redcar

Staff are lovely - food is absolutely shocking pizza was goats cheese spinach garlic - oh my god - the base was burnt - there was a 5p size of goats cheese a tiny leaf of spinach and a blob of caramelised - the staff were lovely

Redcar has an amazing beach, with great car parks. We've being using the beach to help us improve our fitness. We park right on the sea front then walk along. Last week we stopped off for a drink. The Fish and chips looked so good...

Me and my friends come here a lot to have a drink:/ so we came tonight and my friend wasn’t allowed in (not even to sit outside) because he didn't look smart enough!!! he had bought some new chinos to come out in and they insulted him. Popped in here cause it was next to beach but wish we hadn't, £8.20 for 2 drinks and £15 for 2 lots of fish and chips, fish was tiny and chips not cooked. Will not be going back

We came here on holiday from the states, and we absolutely loved it here. The menu is not extensive, just pizza and sandwiches, but the pizza was amazing!! Lovely atmosphere with a view of the sea and a variety of 80s, 90s and today’s music....

Popped in here on a Saturday lunchtime to get a coffee while out for a walk. There is a nice sea view to take in while enjoying your drink. They offer pizza although we didn't sample one.

Went for a morning coffee. What a lovely micro bar. Below the Beacon Pier. Lovely views out to the sea. Staff very smart and friendly. Clean place. We had 2 hot drinks and a cold drink. Very tasty. Shame I didn't have more time for food as the food others were having looked delicious..

What better after a stroll along the promenade on a summers evening than to call in to the Beacon for an icecold cocktail. We had the cocktail of the week, raspberry disarono sour. Very fruity if a little sweet.

Tuesday night is steak night 2 steak meals and a bottle of wine for £25 ours was well presented and cooked to perfection (rare) also try Tapas menu good choice fairly priced

First visit for sometime and very impressed. It was very busy but my wife and I managed to get a table. We had a selection from the small plates menu all of which was delicious. I had a beer , my wife a cocktail and we both finished with excellent coffees. The service was top notch , we’ll be back soon.

Took our granddaughter to Redcar for a stroll along the sea front something we love to do.

Called in for a teatime snack...place is a great location..nice inside and had a large terrace outside...but our meals weren't that good...I had mussles for a starter..they were small and over cooked..the sauce was about a spoonful..we both had a burger which was very dry.. I will try again to see if it was a blip..I told the waiter what I thought ..but didn't get any feedback.

We only called in for a quick coffee break while on a weekend visit during the Bank Holiday. Service was efficient and friendly and we sat outside in the sunshine. Coffees were OK and the views are what made it worthwhile. The building itself is certainly a focal point on the promenade and the modern design is somewhat reminiscent of a large helter-skelter which gives it the nickname of'the slide'.

We called in here for the obligatory coffee whilst having a great walk along the beach. There was only one visible member of staff serving everyone, it was no wonder it took 30 minutes to get two coffees!

Lovely table with eye catching view of our lovely North Sea! Service and attention first class! When it came to the food!!! Fabulous! Such selections and great portions! Great afternoon! Thoroughly recommend for any occasion! Can't wait to go back!

i have been for a drink in the pub on a few occasions and love the place. it has a lovely feel to it as soon as you walk in. the sea views are a bonus. we had food there on a monday evening and it was fantastic. there is a burger menu and street food menu where you can have 3 small dishes for 12 pound. the food was brilliant and didn't have to wait long. there was just the one member of staff on but with it being quiet that was fine however have been there on a friday night when it has been busy and if people are having cocktails there can be a wait which is only criticism.

We visited the Beacon Lounge on a cold tuesday evening in February. The setting is perfect with great panoramic veiws, extremely stylish and a modern feel. We ordered a variety of tapas dishes which were superb, also the stack burger is recommended, you wont leave hungry. Good luck to the team, we will be back to enjoy again very soon.

Came a couple of weeks ago with a friend and enjoyed the street food and a couple of drinks. Will try the cocktails next time. It will be brilliant in the summer, a bar restaurant looking out to the sea, just what Redcar needed and it has so much outside seating.

Located on the ground floor of The Beacon, Redcar this friendly casual bar restaurant has great sea views and a nice atmosphere. The street food is a great menu, very tasty and generous portions. My second visit and I’ll definitely return
