The Beach Hut Cafe in Bournemouth

I only stopped for a coffee and piece of cake and ive got to say that the Dorset apple cake was superb and good coffee to. Saw other people eating and the food looked delicious. No doubt it gets very busy so expect a queue on occasions. Will definitely return when visiting the area again.

Bustling little cafe with about 8 tables inside and more outside. Plenty of gluten free options, less vegan but friendly, swift service and a great location on the beach below the old radar site and parking nearby. 15min walk up to Highcliff castle though was a bit muddy in April.

Epic breakfast sandwiches.. I can say no more.. Was busy but food was good and hot..

Always friendly place to visit for a coffee or lunch or ice cream over looking the beach

Located on the beech between Highcliffe Castle and Mudeford at 'Steamer Point' Excellent fresh ground coffee. Very friendly staff. Prices are not cheep but are far more reasonable than other cafes and stalls closer to Mudeford. There is a 'borrow box' where children can take buckets and spades etc on to the beech while parents eat or drink. Plenty of seating with some indoor tables, some outside but under cover/shade and picnic tables on the beech. There are also nearby public toilets.

First time we've been here. Very convenient location. Nice sea view from the cafe. Short easy walk from the car park. And do try the magnificent sausage and bacon butties. Not to be missed!

1st time visit, grandson had cheese burger which was great however chips weren't that good. I ordered coffee and toasted teacake coffee was OK unfortunately teacake arrived 20 mins after coffee and was hard. The cafe wasn't busy so the wait wasn't due to busy time. Overall disappointed 😞

Very expensive for 2 cups of tea , stale carrot cake & bread pudding £11 not happy, won't go there again!

We had cappuccino, latte, bread pudding and Dorset Apple Cake 2 days running at this cafe. Lovely friendly service and really nice bread pudding and Dorset Apple Cake. Great coffee too.

Fabulous breakfast and stunning location

Tried this place for the first time last week whilst on holiday. The cooked breakfast was amazing and the service was friendly. In some ways a victim of its own success though as it was extremely busy, even at this time of year, so a long queue for drinks and food. We will definitely be adding The Beach Hut Café to our list of places to visit when in the area.

The food was excellent. Staff attentive and friendly. You do have to queue for quite some time to place an order even when 'dining in'. I'm not sure there is any way to fix this however. It is a very popular busy place.

Like an oasis it offers good refreshments after a long walk along the beach. Both sheltered and outdoor seating with benches on the sand too..

Visited Friars Cliff and stopped here for a spot of lunch. There are tables on the beach and up by the small cafe area. All of our sandwiches and wraps were lovely and it was lovely to sit looking out to sea. Ice cream prices were a bit steep for the children's ice creams. Would recommend a stop here despite the queues for food/drinks/ice creams.

Sitting on a bench, having a big breakfast and being feet away from the sea. It doen't get much better.

A great cafe on Avon beach with some seating areas available. Always busy with a good vibe. Staff so friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble. Worth a visit for breakfast on the beach!

7th October 2023.... beautiful weather and we stopped for a coffee.... Hot and nice quality, but the wait almost made me leave the queue... 5 stars if the line moved quicker but, that's the trade off for a very popular Café... lovely beach and very polite staff.

Stopped here twice, once for takeaway coffee which was good. And sat in for iced coffee which was also good 👍

Place is very nice.. but qué jumping .. not very impressed... And it was over 16 people jumped the que... And instagated by a member of their staff.

Great ambience let down by the terrible queuing experience, even though you are seated, you are asked to join the queue. It was only after we had been served that the queue was then divided into food & drinks/ice creams. After ordering we then had a half hour wait for food. I went on the basis that the food was good. It was not. The bacon was just super salty with no particular flavour, okay sausages, a perfect egg and cheap doughy white bread. Sorry, I won’t be back. It was a miserable experience. :/

We turned up at about 4.00pm and were able to find something suitable to eat for everybody including gluten free options. Which were all delicious and freshly cooked. Highly recommend 👌

Excellent cafe on the promenade of Avon Beach between Mudeford and Highcliffe. Good varied menu at reasonable prices. All cooked to order so there can be a wait at busy times. Seating inside and out.

Pretty good cafe - not a bad choice of vegan/veggie food. Veggie breakfast £7.50 - no toast 😐 Tasty though - and not too pricey, which is a nice change.

Brilliant little(ish) cafe on the beach front. Seating inside and outside. Takeaway to your spot on the beach if desired which we did (plenty of bins on the prom too - so bin your rubbish!). Views are great. Food is great. We had 2 sandwich's and a kids meal. All prepared fresh. Sandwich's are packed full and a little salad was a nice touch. Lots on the menu too see the pics.... Thanks

We spent the last weekend near Christchurch for the first time and the hotel where we stayed was not far from the beach. We stopped at the Café just before their closing time on our first night there and we were served by a very friendly member of staff. It was great to be able to buy their lovely homemade cakes, which were absolutely delicious. In fact, we enjoyed them so much that we managed to go back there the following day after our long walk to try some of the other cakes (also delicious!) and ice cream. Thank you for the warm welcome and the delightful cakes and ice cream!

Visited Mudeford today, got caught out in the rain so decided to stop here for a bite to eat and warm up. Cafe was busy but the staff quickly found us a table. Friendly staff catered to all our needs, drinks were quickly delivered and the food was excellent. Many thanks for the warm welcome and excellent service.

This is one of our favourite places to go. Lovely walk along the beach and then stop for food. We've been here so many times now and have been really happy each time. It's a lovely spot right on the beach front. The staff are so friendly. The food has always been amazing. You can either sit inside or outside or get a take away. It can get busy at times though.

Cracking little place with great service. You have to try the sausage sandwich - or anything with sausage... Best I've ever tasted. This place can get busy, but it's well worth the wait. Seating on the beach, seating on the promenade and seating in the shade so they cater for everyone. Onsite toilet too. Highly recommended

Sunday 30th April approx 3pm Went out for a lovely walk along Avon Beach (Christchurch), walking towards High Cliffe. Stopped at The Beach Hut Cafe...it was busy outside with a queue for Ice Cream. Stepped inside where there are tables for hot food etc. My wife sat down and I stood at the till behind a customer complaining. As she left I continued to wait at the till but no welcome from any member of the young team. Noticed a sign stating "Please take a seat, table service" on the counter. I sat down and waited, explaining to my wife that the lady before me was complaining that her food didn't arrive ! Noticed two ladies from the The Beach Hut Team (probably managers) who were having their lunch (all entitled to a break). So we waited sat at the table watching the staff pass us numerous times with drinks. We were sat close to the till and serving window so couldn't be missed, but sadly nothing. We waited and waited, not a single attempt to serve us despite my looks at the staff behind the till, and the staff passing ....they just looked at us and carried on regardless. We waited in total approx 15mins. I got bored and walked out and went to the Noisy Lobster who are very interested in serving customers. I'm really not sure what's happened to general good customer service, I'd have been happy waiting if a team member had just had the courtesy to say hello, and told us we won't be long, sorry for the delay in getting to you. As a local to the area we wont be calling on The Beach Hut Cafe again, certainly won't be recommending it. The Noisy Lobster is far better !! Sorry, dreadful service.

Good food and a good position on the beach. When the sun is shining it's a great place for a coffee sitting out on the promenade next to the beach.

Lovely cafe sausage or bacon cobs to die for lots of filling, had burger and chips really good. It's a nice spot to rest up after you walk. Seats and tables outside on the beach

It is what it is it's a beach caff, slightly over priced but not excessively. Service needs attention if you don't go there often. If you are a regular you are treated in a much friendlier manner. This establishment is just Ok.

Fantastic location, friendly staff, amazing food. This local gem supported the NHS during the lock down periods, and continues to provide Blue Light discount. Yes, it can be busy, but the location makes any potential wait worthwhile. In addition, the ice cream is lovely and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Had an amazing ciabatta with brie and cranberry sauce - served with lots of salad.

Loved it. The standard single cone is about a foot long. Amazing! Nice coffee too! Highly recommended.

Right on the beach and open most of the year; although hours change with the seasons. We get coffee and cake there regularly and ice creams in the summer. The queue can get a bit long though and there is very limited seating if the weather is poor. Pleasant staff and they have a loyalty card for hot drinks.

Love visiting this place - food is always great and comes out surprisingly fast even despite the long queues, well worth the wait at the weekends. Plenty of space to sit both inside and out and in summer there’s always lots of dogs to see! The friars breakfast is always lovely, but on this occasion I had the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon which was great.
