1812 Bar and Restaurant in Bournemouth

I had the pleasure of visiting the 1812 club whilst in Bournemouth this weekend . The staff in the bar were excellent, competent and so helpful. How they coped with the huge influx of people on Saturday night and with so few staff was awe inspiring. They just got on with it. It just shows what good team work can achieve. Well done all !

We visited here when we were staying at the Royal Exeter hotel. It is very large but does get crowded in the evening. The martinis were very nice. They stay open until 4am on the weekend so I could hear the thumping when I woke up through the night, but it wasn't too bad on the 2nd floor. My daughter didn't hear music at all. We went for breakfast and that was quite nice. Full English or continental. I had poached eggs on toast with sausage and all was tasty. My daughter enjoyed the pastries. Service was very friendly.

Booked for Mothers Day lunch with family and wish I hadn't! £20 pp for a cold roast dinner, we sent back the first ones and the second plates were even worse. Had to ask how we wanted the beef cooked 1 medium well 2 medium they all came out the same. The food came out between 5-10 minutes from ordering and as it was just about luke warm it was pretty obvious it had all been pre prepared and not even reheated properly. The Yorkshire puddings were 100% frozen they looked like aunt bessies. The waitress was attentive and they took some meals off the bill but with wine, drinks, taxi's there and back and having to order food when we got home I would have been better off just cooking a roast dinner at home. I like 1812 for a drink but would never eat here again.

I went for unlimited sushi on Sunday 11th February wow! The best sushi I’ve ever tasted honestly was amazing and lovely staff too

Had a few cocktails and some praen crackers. Such a lovely vibe. Cosy and wonderful friendly staff. Would definitely come back.

Great Venue to watch a band, drinks not overpriced

jasmine looked after us and prepared our food to an excellent standard, super friendly and attentive, she’s a real asset to the restaurant, made experience worth it!

Couldn't have had worse service, private dome booked and pre paid for. The dome wasn't ready when we arrived and it was leaking so we had to sit inside, food took so long to come (nearly 2 hours) we had to leave hungry. They refuse to even acknowledge our complaint and offer a 20%refund for food we never received. if your considering ever going here please reconsider I can't recommend not going here strongly enough

Really disappointed and ruined our Christmas night out. Friends and I had booked the Christmas dome for £85 which included a bottle Prosecco and 6 dishes between 6 of us. We thought this was an ideal Christmas night out and really reasonably priced. When we arrived the dome was not ready, looked very dark and uninviting even though we had it booked from 7-8.54pm (which is the time the restaurant gives you). Anyway, we accepted this and had a drink whilst we waited for the lights etc to be put on. When we went to the dome it was cold and leaking so seats and table wet. We accept the rain can not be helped but surely this is something that should be considered. The waiter did accept that we wished to sit inside instead due to one of us constantly being dropped on. He did offer the other dome, but it sadly looked the same as the one we were in. We went in and were given a table and our Prosecco and then things really went wrong. We ordered our dishes with some extras and then waited, waited,waited. Eventually 3 dishes arrived however no sign of the sushi. A waiter came to take these plates away and asked how our meal was, we pointed out that we hadn’t received the sushi yet. It was now 8.45pm, so an hour and 45 minutes after we arrived and the time we had booked to. So as we had all booked childminders etc around this time, and parking we informed them we would need to leave. Initially the supervisor said he was unwilling to give us a discount, other than not charging us for one water and one coke. Even though we had paid in advance for the sushi and had not received it. We pointed out this was not acceptable and would like to speak to a manager. Initially we were told this was not possible however shortly afterwards he came back and said that the manager had agreed to give us 20% of our bill back as well as the sushi to take away. We accepted this, and felt that this was a good customer service response to very poor service. They took my name and number and advised a manager would call me in the morning to arrange the 20%. The following day I had no one contact me so I sent an email, which was replied to immediately and again told that the manager would contact me the next day. I thanked them for quick response and said I’d look forward to hearing from them. 3 days later and still nothing so followed up and sadly now nearly a week later and still nothing. However they have found the time to promote themselves on social media. I don’t usually leave reviews but really feel that the customer service was shocking, at a time of year when people look forward to nights out and have spent money then not had the night that has been advertised. The bar was lovely on arrival, and I can’t complain about the food as all was delicious (albeit didn’t plan on eating it at home) but don’t expect an enjoyable night.

Visited for a works do ... what can I say? I have never been to 1812 before and based on this experience I probably never will again! Given the size of the place, and the fact is was a big company do, you'd have thought they'd be ready for the big event? Chaotic service, everyone behind the bar doing cocktails, so a big wait at the bar, a buffet with a queue to the door with empty trays with a 5-10 minute wait for different items ... really shambolic and completely took the shine off the evening. Very average food when it finally arrived. Bournemouth is supposed to be a venue of choice for great nights out ... what a shame if this is the best it has to offer.

Feels like a place out of Vice City (you know if you know it) Not enough workers behind the bar considering the table count, but they do amazing cocktails. The toilets are accessible via stairs only (sounds familiar?) Prices are high, but nowadays a night out costs a fortune anywhere. TLDR: Not impressive but it's a good place to have on your list

Very good service and amazing sushi. The 25£ all you can eat sushi definitely totally worth it. The restaurant was quite empty so that's why i gave only 4 stars. My only complaint would be about the few choices on wines and beer, i think, as a sushi restaurant should have many more options for the white wines. Cheers!

I went there on a Thursday evening, can't say much about the food since I only had drinks. But the beer was nice and cold and cost about £5 a pint. Not cheap, but a pretty average price here in Bournemouth.

One of the ladies in our company weren’t allowed in because she wore sandals which you considered as flip flops. You’re not that posh, get over it, we live in a resort near the beach

Terrible treatment from the staff! Would not recommend I went in with my Mum for a couple of quiet drinks, two doormen did not ID me, said “good evening ladies” and we walked straight in. Drinking alcohol for about an hour and I went up to the bar to order some drinks for my Mum and I and was asked to provide some ID by the bartender. I had a photo of it on my phone which I showed, he went off to ask if he could accept this, and came back and said he couldn’t, I then said I could have a soft drink and he would serve my Mum an alcoholic drink. The other bartender that served us prior to this couldn’t even look us in the eye A young woman that worked there then came up behind us and asked me to leave the premises, followed by the original doorman that wished us a good evening who came to escort is out. He treated us very badly, despite not checking ID’s in the first place which is his job. The safety of this bar is questionable! Who knows how many underage people have come in without being ID’d. I am 21 and it does make me think how many that go in without having to present ID. They made a scene and the door man was very hostile and aggressive to a Mum and Daughter who clearly had no intention of that, and stood behind us arms crossed like we were in trouble and there to cause problems. Update: I have emailed the address given below, provided them with the information that they asked for, and they have stopped responding. Avoid

Always a great place for a late night visit.

So we were in Bournemouth last weekend and it so happened to be the air show coincidentally plus this was our first time visiting. We decided to explore and found 1812. Hands on heart this was an absolutely amazing night, the staff, the music, the vibe, the comfort was exceptional. Don’t get me started on the DJ and the live music, the amberzone band were playing live and boy did they put on a show. If you want a chilled night out in a spacious bar with good vibes, I would definitely recommend 1812!!!! Ps no star rating for food as we didn’t eat.

This has to be the coolest bar in town. We stopped in for a cocktail , excellent it was in a setting that sort of reminded me of a 30s or 40s plush lounge bar, all that was missing was the piano player and singer banging out some old classic tunes.

Visited here late on a Saturday afternoon for a cocktail masterclass. There were about 12 ladies taking part in the masterclass & we were well looked after throughout the event. We were warmly greeted, each given a class of Prosecco to welcome us & relax us before the masterclass. We were all sat around the bar, with each of us having our own shakers etc to make our 1st cocktail all together. This was great fun & showed you the skill involved. For the 2nd cocktail we were invited in pairs to go behind the bar to make a cocktail of our choice. Final cocktail was our again our own choice, but this time made by the 1812 cocktail bar team. A fun couple of hours or so & also good value.

Amazing food at the restaurant within the 1812 bar. Nice live music while eating at the restaurant. The band at the 1812 bar later was so so but still managed to have a bit of a dance. Would like to visit again one day

Myself & 3 mates went here on Saturday, it wasn't planed we just saw the venue & decided to pop in. We had a brilliant night, and would like to say that Kasia who helped us order our food was amazing. attentive and such a lovely host. Thank you Kasia. Would highly recommend 😃

After being asked by Nici to try 1812 for a more mature clientele, 1812 refused us entry because they said I was wearing jogging bottoms! I was certainly not! Then I pointed out that a man leaving the establishment did actually have jogging bottoms on and was allowed in! The security guy then said I would have to take off my patagonia jacket before entering. This jacket probably cost more than his outfit. It seems in Bournemouth bars are obsessed with what you wear and look like. We weren't riff raff or trouble makes, drunks or anything else untoward, just two women out for a drink!

Honestly don’t try any steak in this restaurant If you are looking for restaurant to have nice food In my experience was so so bad.

It was 6 of us tonight , we ordered drinks and food. First, it took them 30 mins to serve drinks then 45 mins to bring food to the table, steak was very chewy , chicken was not cooked and smelly. When we complaint, they took steak and we’re supposed to bring us another one. After 15 mins they said it will take another 20 mins. Extremely poor quality 👎🏻 not worth a penny ,,,

Over priced badly prepared sushi, terrible main courses with zero seasoning or flavours. Staff need training, knew nothing about the menu or sushi rolls nothing. Cocktails took forever should have just walked out when drinks took 30 minutes to come out. Over cooked chocolate fondant topped off a terrible night! Avoid!!

Been here before, several years ago. Has been revamped and expanded since then. In all honesty - preferred the old look, more intimate and exclusive , but everything was still as it should be. well dressed staff, well presented drinks and great vibe.

Overpriced and Empty.. Dead Atmosphere. Possibly down to a very rude member of staff. (A lady I believe was the manager) absolute joke.. Zero customer service. After sitting and drinking for 30min(in an empty bar), we return to the bar for a drink to find no one there. When we finally get service... we get bad attitude and a very unprofessional staff member order a friend to remove his hat (of which he is conscious of his head and wheres for good reason) or if not you can leave then.. So we did immediately. Staff then refused to identify herself (as i wished to make complaint.) Luckily we got a pic for reference !! Unfortunately for this business: discrimination is against the law.. (photos aren't lol and we were discriminated by the proprietor. Shamefull attempt to explain and argue is no doubt to follow ..Clearly incapable of professional customer service in person or expect online. I recommend you show professionalism now at least. Be careful if you visit people.. open to public (but hats, turbans, headscarfs, scull caps may NOT BE ALLOWED after your 1st drink 😉

Can you believe, after sitting in the restaurant for almost an hour, the staff didn't realize that we didn't get any food on our table, we asked where is the food, the manager came and found out the kitchen haven't started to cook. At that time, just four tables of guests, what an amazing services.

Good place for the night out for over 40- 50. Live music and great atmosphere

Local resident. My partners 40th. Poor service. Table booked 19:30, dropped off cake, candles and special 40th balloons at 14:00. Staff forgot to blow up balloons which was so disappointing, especially as we were one of two tables there on a Tuesday night. Food amazing though.

Upmarket bar lounge, great music from 10pm, enjoyed our visit

Great place with live music on Friday and Saturday nights. It does get very busy so arrive early if you want a place to sit down. Plenty of room to accommodate large groups and tables can be reserved if over a certain size.

Quite surprised at the cost of drinks all 4 of us had spirits with mixers which came to over £40.00 per round which thought was like London prices. Well run clean establishment

I don’t like to give a review like this… 1812 has always been my fav cocktail bar in town but the last twice I’ve been the bar staff have not known the cocktails on their own menu, everyone has to start somewhere but they even messed up the absolute basics. Standards have definitely slipped here from what it was

Great place to drink, plenty of comfortable seating, a bright modern interior, and a good selection of quality drinks, including draught beers. Happy hour from 5 to 7 pm. on a selection of cocktails.

Great night out! A good mixture of ages, so for two couples in their 40s, we had a great time. There was a live band playing which was really good fun. A bonus that you can actually use cash to pay for drinks 👍🏻

Nice interior, casual music. Terrible service, stood at bar for 10mins, lots of bar staff doing nothing, someone else turned and they got served first, I didn't shout up, but surely it's obvious if your the only one there waiting patiently.

Went twice in one evening as went with drinks with partner then returned with family. When with partner bar staff were welcoming and had a lovely time. When returning with family, bar was a lot busier, as show at ICC had finished. Waited for a drink for a long time. Minimum bar staff. Waited our turn ~20mins-half hour. When our turn, made this known to bar lady. Which we were rudely, told if ‘we were gunna behave like that then we won’t be served’. This was very uncalled for and found quite unnecessary. This was a real shame as enjoyed our evening and to be quite frankly snapped at due to understaffing was quite unprofessional on their part.

worst experience ever. we paid £96 for entry tickets online. After arrival we realised the event was free. We meet 6 friends there who not paid a penny for entry. And we also not get the midnight prosecco as well. We will never come back again!

We purchased new years eve tickets weeks befor the event. On the day when we arrived before 11am. We have shoked to see there was not a single person ask us or anybody about any tickets. We upset because after we paid nearly £140 for entry tickets, we expect to get our tickets chacked and get a champagne. But insted of that we were see peple walked in with out tickets like you walk in a tesco supermarket! Incluse our friends who confirmed to is thay not bought any tickets thats was around 11pm. I ask for manager at hotel reception to complain and i get 2 mail address where i can complain. I write an email on both emails but there was no reaction from them. Than i wrote a second email whete i point out if thay not respons and give us a refund i will contact the trading standerds for a formal complain. Eventualy i get a reply message where the hotel manager denied the fact there was no access contor by the entrance and refuse to give us a refund. We contact the trading standards now and waiting for help. The hotel managment just disgustingly misled people to get more money online for nothing. Why sould we pay a penny if anyone who not paid for tickets can enjoy the same event ? The only thing what was include the price was a glass of shampagne and the live music, but we not even get thatone because the place was short of stuff and aftet 30min wait by the bar we just give up to get any drinks. The managment offered us a coctail for compensation... well i dont have to say where can thay put that drink... £140 is a bit redicolous for a few coctails! Enyone with the same experience please contact the hotel managment and if thay faild to give you a refund just report them to trading standards. Because this is outrageous.

Went to the Oiishi restataurant for sushi afternoon tea and it was absolutely incredible food. Delicious, well presented and really reasonable. We will definitely be back!!

Booked a pod for 6 people for £21 per head. All we had was one bottle of prosecco between us and the equivalent of one sushi dish OR a tapas dish. So £21 for a glass of prosecco and a few nibbles. Don't bother.

Warm welcome. Excellent service. Food was amazing and a guitarist placing to add some Sunday vibes ambience. Plus the icing on the cake was that it was dog friendly too!

Watch this place , twice now I've been over charged around £25 more for a round of drinks . First time the round of drinks came to £75 , when I said to the barman this is wrong he said NO it's correct, I stood my ground until he went and rang it through the till again and it came in at £48 ! No apology just a rude stare . Second time charged £71 , again a disagreement with him took place and he said I asked for doubles , I didn't, he snatched the drinks away and made more drinks as singles and charged £56 ..... Be warned , don't just pay them .

My friend bought 1st drink, charged 20.45. I bought the next one, the same drinks 24.45. Then after that 24.45 again. The manager explained that 24.45 is correct and that we were undercharged for the first one as it’s for the dash of red bull only. Guess what, we were getting dash for the 3 rounds of drinks, only got a full red bull after I have complained. Shame on you 1812, getting £4 for each drink, do you think it’s worth it? Don’t think so! Taking the piss of people, very disappointing.

It was terrible . I was asking for a song for my daughter and the staff is promise me for £50 that my daughter to hear that song🤞. After 10-15 min. when I asked,the staff just returned my money back;but it was just only £40🤷‍♀️. After that ,when I spoke with "meneger ",he said he does not hear me propertly🙈🤷‍♀️🤣.

The restaurant is round the back of 1812 and is rather under whelming compared to the main bar who services drinks (meaning the price to atmosphere ratio is a little peaky) above the open part of the kitchen is a ncie mural however the rest...

Popped in for a quick drink in the hotel bar on 12/7/22. Admittedly a very nicely decorated bar and very professional staff but it does warrant the prices charged. Purchased a pint of Estrella beer and a large Sauvignon Blanc and was charged £17.75! When...

Had some drinks and lunch there. They do have a dress code even during the day but as long as you’re not wearing a beach towel around you, you’ll be fine. At night it has live performers but I haven’t visited at night. During the day the place is lovely. Food is also great.

Went in for one drink to finish the night off after a lovely meal in Zim Braii (would recommend) We waited patiently at the bar as it was busy obviously being a Friday night … bar tender asked for our order, I made the mistake of asking for 1 shot of the Dalmore 15 yr single malt whisky (instead of one serving) apologies for my incorrect terms. I was told they don’t do ‘shots’ I then said, I’m sorry I meant 1 serving. The bartender proceeded to put ice in a glass and when I asked him for no ice, he said I can’t serve you, we don’t serve shots. Now if anyone knows whisky, you know you sip, savour and enjoy it, and don’t knock it back. He then had a sense of humour failure as when I then asked for a soda water with a ‘shot’ of lime he refused to serve us and started serving someone else. Leaving us waiting and basically ignoring us. We left and went home, he may have done us a favour as I got to enjoy a better whisky at home before bed.I can only assume, he heard my northern accent and took me for a drunken holiday maker! Even though I run my own successful business in the BCP area. I will not be afraid of informing clients of how this experience slightly soured our evening.

Ate in the new restaurant. We both enjoyed our tapas dishes. The service was friendly and the restaurant decor very pretty. There was a very bubbly waitress who works very hard to be polite and helpful. I was shocked to read some recent negative reviews...

Not sure what the food is like we’ve been waiting 45 to be served. Bar staff could be more welcoming and attentive. Master chef seems to be turning into a master mistake.

Be aware when you go to the ladies WC as the last step is hardly to be noticed and the sign "mind the step"is actually written almost on the ceiling! So I could read it laying on the floor with a sprained ankle. What an unexpected "surprise " -spoiled birthday and two weeks off sick

We had the most wonderful Master class cocktail afternoon on Saturday 11th June and Kate was amazing. Her knowledge was incredible and she took her time to go through any questions asked and overall gave us a wonderful afternoon experience in Cocktails. We reserved a table in the bar area for the evening and the professional service at the bar continued. The atmosphere, great bar, and lovely decor really makes the hotel one to visit again.Thank you
