The Beach Hut Cafe in Portsmouth

Great location but it's very small inside and is often overwhelmed by strong cooking smells. For some reason they don't have adequate ventilation!!

My breakfast was ok as yoghurt fruit and granola but my husbands was not great , bacon like leather, hash browns oozing oil and over cooked, poor quality sausages, tomatoes tasted like they were cooked on old oil griddle. He eat the eggs and toast. No one asked was everything ok and no one around to speak to. Very disappointed

Sister café of the excellent nearby Salt Café. Both on a super waterfront location. Plenty of boat activity. Clean and modern space inside and extensive outside area. Excellent savouries and cakes. Great coffee. 5 star but 4 as let down by the hideous plastic plants and environmentally damaging plastic grass.

The food is beautifully presented, but is mediocre at best and overpriced given the small portions. My sandwich set me back £8.50. Given the price I expected more, but what I received is a small brioche bun with some filling, a dollop of watercress and about five crisps (which were soggy). The menu is also quite limited, but does have vegan and GF options if that's your thing. That said the staff were fantastic and it was interesting to watch various boats being cranned into the water. I'm unlikely to return given the prices and average food on offer, but worth stopping by if you're in the area for a coffee to take in the views.

Lovely location. Even though there were several staff milling around could not get there attention so in the end approached someone. Ordered two drinks and waited and waited and LEFT! Place not particularly busy ( Tuesday) and staff didn't seem rushed off their feet? Would certainly not like to order food their! Real shame!

Lovely coffee, great views, interesting to watch the boats be moved around, a good selection of vegan options and very nice indoor and outdoor seating. A bit hard to find but once you're there it's great!

Lovely view and good coffee but spoilt by the incessant noise of boats constantly being lifted in and out of the water by a hydraulic lift. This made it impossible to relax and enjoy the view. I drank my coffee and left as soon as I could with a headache!

Second time we have visited. Each time limited drinks available. We visited 2nd time round after some attractive rum based cocktails were advertised on Facebook. Arrived and told they had run out of rum. The specialist coffee replacement was not a worthysubstitute. Will stick to salt cafe in future.

Great freshly prepared Butchers Sausage sandwich Onion Relish in lovely Focaccia Bread and and ice cold dry Cider made a great Autumn lunch in the Sunshine overlooking the top of Portsmouth Harbour towards Port Solent. Would recommend and will certainly be returning during future shoreline walks.

I ventured here one day post lockdown with my two young boys, and was promised The Best Mocha I’d had in ages!! Luca and Nicole did not disappoint!! I have been back quite a few times since with various friends and family, and enjoyed cake and other breakfast treats. My boys love the activity of the boat yard/marina and the staff are very warm and welcoming! A hidden gem for sure that I couldn’t recommend highly enough 🙏🏻

Lovely sea setting at the end of a industrial harbour area. Nice seating with picturesque views and nice atmosphere. Staff good and the food though limited is nice to.

Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, good service. Unfortunately by the time our full breakfast arrived (seated outside) , some of it was cold and the toast/bread needed a saw to cut it. Coffee was good though and would visit again for a HOT breakfast.

It's hopeless to get in so we turned around to find another place to eat, need to make the place assessable so you feel welcome. Will try again to visit next time

Drinks and cakes excellent (the same people who run the Salt Café at Wicor Marina); safe environment with track and trace very efficient (had details from previous visit already on the system). Inside and outside seating. Right next to the boat lift - now there's some skill given the value of the vessels being taken out of the water!

Had the pleasure of introducing both sets of parents to this gem of cafe which is local for them & tucked around the back of a busy wharf. Staff were really accommodating and reserved a table for us so that they could enjoy the outside space and amazing views of Portsdown Hill, Port Solent and out towards Portchester Castle. Jumbo sausage rolls are delicious and a family favourite. My teenage daughter recommends the Iced coffee from our 'treat' visit today - so good it had it's own photo. Great place with friendly, welcoming staff. Dog friendly too outside🐕‍🦺🐕

First visit on Saturday 15th February. Lovely view, calm, quiet and comfortable atmosphere. Staff were very accommodating. Will definitely be back. Look forward to sitting outside too!

Pretty limited menu choices yet very expensive, especially if there are a few of you. You’ll need to budget £10 head for breakfast which was nothing special. Maybe it will get better with time?

Made to feel very welcome as soon as I walked through the door. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Beautiful setting, looking out onto the water. And the coffee was amazing. I will be back for sure.

Things have changed the beach hut no longer supplies freshly made toastie it's all pre packed , and no longer supplies a salad and crisps with your toastie its plain and boring, presentation is poor . Sorry your changes are poor.

Always wanting to support local businesses and try new cafes, we decided to go for lunch at the beach hut cafe. First impressions where great as it was a lovely location and set up, unfortunately it became VERY clear that customer satisfaction was not there...

Great place hidden in among Trafalgar Wharf waterside near Portchester. Great for breakfast, lunch, coffee & snacks and they serve wine! Lovely overlooking the water. Excellent service.

This place is a real hidden gem. Well worth a visit just to see the boat yard working and the wonderful harbour views.

This little cafe is hidden behind the spectacular dry stack with their impressive forklifts and over 300 boats inside. The location is perfect, right on the water front with the seaside feel and the sun in your face there isn’t a better place to enjoy...

Good service quality of food very good, great location you must visit. Very clean and it's by the sea.

Had lunch here at the weekend. Food was fab - service was excellent and the views amazing. Never seen boats picked up by a fork lift before. Highly recommend a visit, much nicer than Port Solent
