The Beach Bar in Teignbridge

Sat outside for a drink with wife and two naughty dogs saw the fish and chips and just had to have them was not disappolnted really nice it came with mushy peas and we ordered curry sauce all smashing. The staff were very busy but still had time for their customers even my naughty terrier the price was good too and the portions amazing.

the place itself looks alright, and i’m sure for a “normal” person it’s great. however, as someone with allergies, to be told by kitchen staff and bar staff that all the food is cross contaminated doesn’t fill me with great confidence! upon talking a little more to the kitchen staff they told us that their manager doesn’t “believe in allergens such as lactose intolerance, gluten - free and vegan etc” now unfortunately, i can’t actually help having an allergy so it’s pretty insane to run a kitchen without those rules in place - instead just cross contaminate everything! so although i can’t comment on the food, i can comment on the incorrect functionality of a kitchen. as a chef, being told they cook vegetarian dishes in the same pans etc as meat dishes isn’t the best of starts. same goes for the dishes with allergens and unfortunately it won’t be taken seriously until a customer is taken ill due to the preparation of the meal. saying that, i appreciate the honesty from the kitchen staff and bar staff, otherwise it could’ve been me falling extremely ill.

Lovely place, very good service.

Well very discussed with this place. Went to have breakfast but one of us was a vegetarian. Food was brought out and the veggie meal tasted like meat. We asked the staff and was told the chef can't stand veggies so he cooks everything in the same pans. We wasn't happy and the member of staff says if ya don't like cross contamination go elsewhere. This is unacceptable behaviour for somewhere that serves food and especially somewhere that offers vegetarian meals knowing the chef does not give a damn and cooks it with meat. Also very bad management allowing him to do so and stay employed. I will be taking this further and be seeking legal advice and reporting to the appropriate authorities.

Fabulous friendly staff, who although they were busy they were also happy to help. We had breakfast, really nice food made with good quality ingredients! Prices were also reasonable. Brilliant food,service and atmosphere!

After waiting for 40 minutes for Food that didn’t arrive to find out that the person who took our order forgot to give it to the kitchen. Plus charged for pints of drink instead of half pint.

A lovely café bar by the side of the main road. We have frequented this bar quite regularly while on holiday over the years. There is a good selection of refreshments to be seen, plus confectionery or meals if required. While we did not eat there on this occasion, when we have previously eaten here, the food has always been very good. Service is excellent and staff are very friendly. It's definitely worth a visit.

On a day visit to Dawlish we stopped off here with our dog for some lunch, there was a choice of inside and outside seating, dogs were allowed inside which was a bonus. The menu was very reasonably priced and we had a lovely lunch and excellent service although the Cafe was extremely busy. We would certainly go back again

I used this cafe a couple of times a week the food is superb but it's the service from the young ladies and young men ,and nowvthe entertainment has started up perfect.

Lovely place in Dawlish for Brunch in the centre, 5 minutes from the waterfront. Great service & adapted our Brunch to suit our vegetarian breakfast from larger to smaller. Very nice venue.

Food was ok. Atmosphere was ok. Prices went bad. We would go back again.

Pleasant cafe that serves a good cup of tea and a bite to eat. Friendly and helpful staff.

Most staff are great except for one you lady that started huffing & puffing while I was decided what to order. Not impressed.

dreadful service and rude staff

A very poor experience, it difficult to know where to begin. "Service " was a barely tolerated exchange of a rude woman, who continued a much needed conversation to another member of staff, while we tried to order, about what she did the previous evening..... Food was as expected, tesco/ asda budget range heated in a microwave. Given the terrible food and utter distain in having to deal with customers, this is the place for anyone wishing to experience social and culinary torture. Make sure all vaccinations , are up to date, as the place isn't clean enough for the immune comprised. If your willing to take your taste buds to a barron land of preheated food , this is the place for you.

We wentv as a family group most having different meals but all enjoyed the food, waitress was polite and helpful

Service was a bit slow, but I think that was because the person serving us was training, food was good

Nice and easy place to get some food. And if you're lucky to get nice weather like we did then you can enjoy the sunshine outside!

Watch out for the seagulls stole my bacon off of my plate lol

4 of us just popped in for a light lunch and a Doom Bar. Being a Sunday, we were warned of a 30 min wait for food, but it arrived together after only 15 mins. It was nicelg orepared too.

Not the best fish n chips okay ish. Oily/greasey, you will need your Rennie if you're over a certain age.

Really good spot for a bit of lunch Menu was really good, food was lovely and plentiful. Portion of topping on the Jacket potato was a really good portion size, breakfast looked good too Good prices. The only down side was the number of dogs in there! Lots of barking, dogs sat at the table, don't really like animals being let in to a food service area. Other than that, lunch was lovely

Good food, large portions. We went on a wet and stormy Sunday in February. Large picture windows which have a great view - when it's not pouring with rain!

Food taste was spot on. Had Big English breakfast. 2x Sausages 2x Hashbrowns 2x Fried Eggs 2x Bacon Beans 1x Slice toast cut in half Shame I'm greedy, big breakfast could include a couple extra items without the need for paying extra, other than that spot on!

Nice, really good deserts for me personally, and a wonderful cappuccino, made by a nice bartender.

Great place we always go for a coffee or a beer whenever we are in Dawlish. They have a huge selection of draft beers for a cafe kinda place which is brilliant. You can have a full meal, coffee and a cake or just a beer. It ticks all these boxes. See you next time!

Stopped here for a refreshing drink during the warm Autumn weather we had a couple of weeks ago. Got served quickly by the staff. Pimms and a pint cost £10.

Stay clear!! Customer Service.. non existant!! Sat on a table out the front.. not sat down for long and the table was very wobbly.. spilt my expensive Apple Juice everywhere!!! Husband was charged further.. for another drink.. table very unstable.. thankfully wasn't a hot drink otherwise could have been worse.. Complained to assistant.. bits of kids stating not their policy to refund drinks... Just go elsewhere in Dawlish!

Brought 4 pints after the barmaids had accidentally smashed lots of glasses. Waited for them to clean up and ordered 4 pints. After sitting down discovered one of the glasses had a chip at the edge and almost cut my lip, after what happened didn’t want to finish drink and swallow glass so returned for a new one after a few sips. On returning glass the blonde haired barmaid with attitude looked at it and said “chip in glass?” I said that don’t know but don’t want to risk it also chipped glass?? Didn’t even apologise and got another barmaid to serve my drink?? Terrible service and shocking behaviour of the staff. End of the day the glass was chipped end of!! Simple sorry and replacement done! Instead attitude and ignored to be served by another member of staff!! Swerve this place!!

Great service, atmosphere beautiful with the outside seating looking over the boats and crabbers, its cosy inside, I really have to enthasise how great the staff are, welcoming, friendly, clean, well spoken and all around 5/5.

Wonderful . The staff are very efficient and friendly and attentive our favourite place to be. We are not from this area but come here often. A place to enjoy and trust for a lovely relaxing time

As title says: Rumbling stomach in Dawlish, after visiting the new sea wall, Black swans and village. We were all hungry including the 3 small dogs with us. It was noted that there were already dogs at the outside tables of the Beach Bar so we also joined them. After viewing the menu ordering was from the counter. I ordered Ham egg x2 and chips, Toasted sandwiches for the rest of us, with coffee and a beer for me. The price was very reasonable for the 3 of us. The waitress bought our orders out and I enjoyed the Ham,eggs and chips. The dogs managed to help with the sandwiches also. Very busy and popular place on the main thoroughfare watching the world go by. Only negative is that when a coach parks in front to pick up holiday makers again the view is no existent for a while.

Really good dog friendly cafe bar, we called in for breakfast The full breakfast was fantastic, the service was excellent, friendly helpful staff.

We love sitting here have something to eat and watch the world go by and some nice cars too!!! Nice staff and service. Enjoy a beer also.

Good breakfast for the price. 2 of everything for under £10 is good in todays economic climate, especially near the sea front. Bacon could be a crispier. Staff were friendly and the service was 10 times faster than last year

A busy spot with a pleasant atmosphere. Lots of outside seating - welcome on a sunny day. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Staff encountered were good. Recommend for the area. Didn’t eat, but the food did look nice.

Popped into the Beach Bar around 5pm due to most other eateries had closed. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the menu choice was good for us. The meals, Lasagne and fish finger sandwiches both with chips were delicious, and it was pleasant to sit outside and watch the world go by. The flavored cider on tap was most refreshing on a warm evening.

Always come here for breakfast and a coffee whilst visiting Dawlish. It’s a very dog friendly place and the coffees are USUALLY very nice with coffee art as a little bonus. Sadly todays visit was quite different to our usual. Our cappuccinos were like warm milk *without special topping :(* Much smaller portion of food than we’ve ever had before and no cutlery offered when ordering meals. Altogether a much poorer experience than usual it has to be said.

Lovely place, Food was delicious, staff were really friendly. Didn't get to try it at night but bet the atmosphere would be great and food just as delicious.

I've been to The Beach Bar at Dawlish 3 times, within about 2 months. The food is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. The food is VERY nice and freshly prepared. And the staff are VERY friendly and helpful too.

Great range of drinks (especially gins) and friendly staff. Good prices and a good position in town.

Situated just off the central garden area. Not the biggest of bars/cafes but good use of the space there is. The 4 of us found a table in a good position. We chose some drinks and scones etc and then had to go to the counter to place our order. This was taken quickly and politely. Prices were reasonable. All were quickly served and were enjoyable. The ambience was excellent and the place in good order. Staff young and pleasant. Well worth a visit.

Really enjoyed our all day breakfast, fresh, hot and great value. Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, the best latte ever, we even liked the music playing. Brilliant all round.

Visited for the first time ( September 2022) and had a big breakfast. The food was wonderful, well cooked, great quality, the menu had a big variety etc 🙂 definitely pop in again when I'm in the area

We always drop in here for a very nice cappuccino whenever we have a walk in Dawlish. The only problem is that coaches stop right outside and the passengers can cause queues.

Great cafe, had a lovely breakfast. Only gripe is they wouldn't do scrambled eggs on the breakfast.

We and our Westie enjoyed a friendly welcome. We ordered Haddock Goujons and drinks. Competitive priced meals, which were delivered hot and well presented. I was halfway through when I took a picture. We were not rushed and enjoyed our time relaxing.

Great food, great value for money, extremely competitive to use a toilet. Tables very clean and the choice of drinks was good.

We make a bee-line for these, when we are in Dawlish, they got a Cappuccino, to "die for!!!" We had a meal from there once, it's brilliant. I had Lasagna, and that was great, to much for me, but my hubby ate it. He said it was brilliant too!!!

Good food at good prices, staff were very friendly and helpful especially when we asked to substitute items due to one of our group being gluten intolerant (it came across as no problem which was a nice change from other recent experiences). Highly recommend :)

After a nice walk along the sea wall from the Warren, nothing better than relaxing with a toasted sandwich, chips and a refreshing pint of lager.

We arrived in Dawlish in the pouring rain and ran straight into this cafe, the tables were well spaced and it looked clean and bright staff were friendly and our two cappuccinos were almost a work of art

Great general bar and food bistro, standard offerings of haddock goujons, lasagne Currey etc we'll presented at reasonable prices. Good selection of beers largers wines and spirits.

Fabulous place came in Late morning and returned late afternoon to excellent standard of refreshments alcohol and meal customer service including young barman and approach to serving drink in the correct way exemplary!! Toilets impressively clean throughout the day where else do you get that!! If I could give more stars I would my husband is also impressed at the quality of the draught beer as an experienced bar manager!!

We had breakfast Saturday 18/9 before our long drive home . Well worth the money with quality ingrediants will use again when back in Dawlish.

i had jacket potato and hubby had a burger it was okay. you could sit outside which was good at the moment.
