What an absolute gem of a place. Ticks all the boxes...dog friendly, beautiful decor, welcoming and homely feel, amazing cake and friendly staff. The fact this place is open until 8pm is also great. So many other cafes were closed......thank goodness really as we wouldn't have found this gorgeous place otherwise. Coffee is gorgeous and the cakes were not only proper cakes but absolutely gorgeous. Fresh and delicious. The staff were super friendly and loved the fact we had our dogs. As someone with Autism the whole place just felt so lovely and I can't wait to return. We weren't overly hungry which was slightly annoying as the menu looked fab. I'm not vegan but the options sounded amazing and there was plenty of choice. Can't wait to return. Thank you!

I was looking for an light-ish evening meal. I liked the look of the burgers here. The one I ordered was perfectly cooked and very flavoursome with nice salad and dips. I had a ginger beer with that. I was tempted by the Rhubarb Crumble but I didn’t want to over-eat. It’s a nice restaurant and I recommend it highly. I’ll go back to have a pudding (and another burger of course!) when I get the chance. Excellent.

The thing about Hebden bridge is the choice of unique eating places. We were actually heading somewhere else and glanced at the menu of the baytree. Yes a small choice menu of hot foods which normally indicates great cooked food. What took our interest was the steak pie and the Vesuvius burger with a choose your own heat rating of 1-10. And also dog friendly :-) Our minds were made up. The place does prefer cash so I let my missus order my food whilst I went looking for an atm. She knows I like spice, so ordered me a Vesuvius 10 spice rated burger cooked medium rare, much to the surprise of the staff, and she ordered the steak pie. Both foods arrived and as I took my 1st bite in trepidation wondering what I was going to experience… and WOW it delivered on heat. I’ve seen many places advertise hot spicy burgers. None before have delivered on the spice. This one did… Full of flavour, fresh tasty juicy lovely and yes HEAT. I’d liken the heat to a touch spicier than madras in heat levels but the warmth was within and not a burning stupid tongue. They advertise the best burgers in town. For me this was. The pie came with their special gravy, and the missus certainly loved it. Great pastry and juicy filling with a gravy more resembling a stew than a typical gravy. Both dishes were lovely and yes we will visit here again. Dare I try a spice level 12… if the baytree will do me one then watch this space… Thanks

Positive :Staff friendly and pleasant. Negative - Had to wait over 70 minutes for our lunch. After 50 minutes a member of staff did apologise. Customers who came in after us ate and left before we got served. Vegan food bland and over priced , wish I had walked out after 50 mins !

It’s not often I write reviews but I feel this is warranted after the previous negative review, we were sat at the adjacent table to this couple yesterday and the staff member politely asked them to move to a table for 2 considering the place was packed and the only other free table was a table for 4 which they were sat at…bearing in mind it does say “please wait to be seated” the weather was horrendous and customers were piling in out of the rain, the couple did move to the table for 2 and then the man said “just get me a full English and a black coffee” the woman who he was with looked beyond embarrassed!!! He was arrogant & rude and I absolutely do not blame the staff member for saying I think it would be better if you got your breakfast somewhere else!! We have been here many times and the staff go over and above to help, I felt sorry for the woman who he was with and also the staff member who was overly polite….I would have said a lot worse !! The Bay Tree is an absolute must when visiting Hebden…from the friendly welcome, the music, 100% inclusive, safe space, dog friendly and the food is amazing 🤩, The breakfast and lunch menu has something for everyone!!! specials board, vegan, veggie & GF, and please don’t get me started on the home made cakes ❤️ My “go to” is always the graze board…..open visible kitchen, fresh coffee of every description, beers, wines, soft drinks and funky looking pink bubble stuff !!! Keep up the good work ladies….this place is a gem 💎 xxx

It was our first time at The Baytree. Quiet atmosphere, lovely helpful staff and very clean. We ordered the Filthy Pig and the Steak & Ale Pie. My pie was lovely and tasty but was let down by very small quantities of steak. The burger was perfect though but there was no salad or coleslaw as per some review pictures that we’ve seen and the fries were not seasoned. They were just plain like mine. It’s a shame.

Amazing visit !! Friendly staff ! AMAZING FOOD❤️- me and my partner came down for the day and we stumbled upon this heaven, we got the rose lemonade Brie wedges garlic bread, pitta and humous which was sent from the gods!! The mac n cheese meltdown burger which came with peri fries and salad and the filfthy pig which came at your preference of how the meat was cooked! All of these were demolished and scoffed!! So many food options aswell as sweet treats and desserts !! If you come down to Hebden Bridge this place is a MUST!! It was cozy, delightful and amazing for the price. LGBTQ+ friendly and we will definitely come back !!! Thankyou team for your amazing service and happy faces!! Keep doing what you’re doing!! A happy hotel manager :)

Staff were lovely & friendly, wasn’t too impressed with the food, taken awhile to come out, chicken n stuffing sandwich was hardly any chicken in it, not worth £10 at all, was expecting chicken strips to come with kids meal not just chicken breast, children’s meal chips already came with salt on which I think should be an option to add on yourself instead of it being done for you. No baby changing facilities, had to change my baby on the cold hard floor in the bathroom.

Cosy little place and 3 out of our 4 meals were fine. However, the Roast Chicken and Stuffing Sub at £9.95 contained mostly stuffing and hardly any chicken. Waitress said she would tell the chef but we received no apology and no recompense, which is unacceptable. In hindsight we should have refused to pay for the Sub. Instead we left feeling disappointed. For this reason we will not return or recommend. Plenty of other cafes etc around instead.

This cafe enticed us in on a very cold day, looking very nicely done out. The breakfasts and drinks looked stunningly presented when they arrived. However, the vegetarian sausages tasted a bit cheap. My grandsons, who love the sausages at Wetherspoons, refused to eat his. The fried eggs were undercooked and had chopped parsley sprinkled on top, which led one grandson to leave them both. When I went to the till to pay, I clearly stated where we were sitting. (There only 2 other customers present.) It was very dark and I couldn't see the bill, not having my reading glasses) I trusted what we had been charged and paid by Visa. Around 30 minutes after we had left, the owner, having chased us down in the middle of the busy market, claimed we had been under charged and that he was going to deduct the amount from the waitress' wages. We passed him an extra £20.00. Very humiliating and rather ruined our experience of the wonderful Hebden Bridge.

Had high hopes based on reviews and local feel. However those hopes were quashed pretty quickly. Alarm bells rang when “ice cream milkshake” came out in liquid form, then sandwiches followed more or less 5 mins after ordering. The ciabatta was like a partially baked bread that hasn’t had the second baking, raw texture and incredibly chewy. Spicy nduja mayo had no flavour let alone spice, and the rest of the fillings were equally bland. It’s rare I feel so disappointed with food, but this really felt like it had zero effort or thought out into it, while costing more than many other better restaurants nearby. Still shocked by the high rating, sorry - but I won’t go back again.

My god, put some food on the plates, and don't expect people to hack their way through the bread served with the chicken and chorizo melt. Unable to chew and given a full refund for this poor excuse for a sandwich. It was supposed to be a melt, but it must have melted away. It didn't soften the bread at all. They were very curtious and only let down by the food. A great setting but not matched by poor quality and quantity. This is an example of size-flation. Dearer food and smaller portions.

We stumbled upon this cafe on a busy saturday to escape the rain. The cafe is very welcoming and staff attentive and friendly, whilst being super efficient. We had a dog with us, but the stone floor and plentiful tables made this an easy situation. Mine was the only dog. They even had doggy treats to buy. The sandwhiches, salads, and flatbreads are all top-quality ingredients. I noticed the cakes looked amazing, but I am dieting! My latte was hot and in a generous cup. They got everything right, and we will definitely return

I'd been for fasting bloods at my GPs and walked into town perished in this awful bitter weather and had had no breakfast 🥣 So called in as it was the first place with hot food that I saw. WOW !!! Did they write the book about how to look after their customers in here ???Amazed, stunned & delighted to put it mildly. I'm veggie so asked for a non menu item which arrived with a steaming hot brew within about 7 minutes of me walking through the door but was it good or what ?? How anybody can make such a basic food item taste as good is beyond me but it was excellent and yes, I was tempted and added 2 pieces of parkin to the order which I shared with a friend later and that also was extremely tasty. Overall, reasonably priced, spotlessly clean, excellent customer service and yes I'll head there now any time I need a quick butty and know it'll be worth every penny. Thanks guys keep up the very good work 👷 ☆☆☆☆☆

This is a little gem of a cafe in the Piece Hall in Halifax. I came with a coach party from around the Blackpool area and we were dropped off at the Piece Hall first. It used to be a cloth merchants place many years ago and I worked just around the corner from here in an office in the 90’s and could not believe how much it had changed. It is full of little independent shops well worth venturing inside to look around. The stone work has been cleaned and the walkways/ floor redesigned. It’s beautiful now. A lot of money has been spent doing it up. They were just preparing to hold a Eurovision Song Contest party and I believe they held a Coronation party also for King Charles on May 6th. I ventured upstairs, there are lifts as well as stairs and came across G’s cakes. I love a nice latte and cake. Already members of my coach party were inside and I was served by a really lovely lady called Helen. She said she loved her job and you could tell. Nothing was too much trouble. I had a latte which was just perfect and a large slice of Victoria sponge. It was delicious. There were so many cakes to choose from. I was told they also had another outdoors eatery downstairs. It was so nice in G’s cakes, I went back before the coach headed onto Shibden Hall.
