The Bay Tree in Teignbridge

Pass by the chain coffee shops and pop in here. Based in the market. Serves great local coffee and all the cakes and lunches are homemade. Family run business. Great friendly staff.

What we thought was going to be a nice morning watching our children in the May day parade, was ruined by the rude owner ( I believe) of the cafe. We had previously grabbed drinks from another vendor before heading into the town square and made the snap decision to sit on the cafe tables as we had 2 small babies that needed feeding. Not to be rude, we went inside and purchased cake from the cafe so we could utilise the table rather than sitting on the floor with babies . We were sat watching the parade when we were abruptly approached and sharply told that it was 'not on ' and 'rude' that we had purchased drinks elsewhere and were drinking them in front of her cafe. We had made sure that we brought something from them but apparently that was not good enough. Multiple people sat at other tables didn't even bother getting a cake or a drink but took up space. I won't be using this place again.

We come here most days to escape the “working from home” syndrome. They do a great cup of coffee and a good selection of meals and snacks. Homemade cake and scones are also delicious. The service is always good and friendly. Additional bonus is you get a lotus biscuit with every hot drink. Best frappes in town. Always busy with locals so show how good it must be. Local produce. Local business. Always support small and local businesses.

The price of a really weak 🍓 milk shake and the price of a really strong coffee nearly made me fall over backwards for a Newton abbot Market cafe it's to expensive and not really up to much definitely not going there again choose the carlton cafe

I was there with three friends having lunch on Saturday 29th February 2020. I had a baked potato with goats cheese and cranvberry sauce with salad for lunch.

Margaret's home made shortbread are so light and delicious I would recommend you try one,my grandson Jake loves his visit for his healthy banana milkshake.👌

Here we are again. Fantastic service and coffee. We visit this cafe at least once a week from Plymouth

Yes. Undoubtedly the best bacon sandwich I’ve had for a very long time. This most unassuming venue is a haven when needing a break from the inevitable shopping trip! The staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is ‘open’ in an indoor sort of way, as it is located within the entrance thoroughfare to the market hall. Yes there is background piped muzak but not too irritating, as the volume was low enough to allow conversation to take place. My only gripe.....Why do you put the paper napkin on the plate and then plonk the bacon sandwich on top? I had to ask for another napkin as the original was greasy from the sandwich. Other than that, I’ll certainly be back next week. Thank you Bay Tree 🌳

My mum and I often visit here for a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea. The bacon is always perfectly done and served to the table by friendly staff. Have to say that the cakes on offer are very nice too! Definitely recommend this gem 💎

Had a very nice lunch time snack here with family. Have to say service and food were lovely and delivered with a nice smile. Recommended. Very nice and we will go there again.

Not baby feeding friendly staff in a bad mood to a woman sat next to me just wanting a hug of hot water to warm her babies bottle!

I went hear with my 2 months old baby as he was due for an feed, i ordered an cuppa and hot water for my babies bottle. she severed us, filled the jug to the top so their was no way i could put an bottle in. my sis asked her to take an bit out please. being all nice, but to my shock their was hardly any water in the jug. at this time my baby was crying for food, so i asked her to top it up an bit, being polite and she told me i should have feed my baby earlier, i was in shock tbh to be spoken to like that.

Cuando vamos a Newton Abbott de Plymouth siempre sin falta de un aperitivo y café aquí. El personal es muy amable. Los sándwiches son para morirse. Un riquísimo pan fresco. No puedo esperar a volver. Hay un montón de tiendas fuera del mercado y mucho un poco más lejos. La cafetería tiene un ambiente encantador

The food here was quick and clean and fresh sandwiches with what ever you want to have in it they were helpful to do their best for you. Food was basic but fresh and tasty!

El Bay Tree cafe es un hallazgo fantástico en Newton Abbot. El personal siempre es amable y servicial. La comida está recién hechos, siempre una calidad excelente y muy buena relación calidad-precio. El café es siempre bueno y compite con cadenas la mayoría de los gustos. Me astuto encarecidamente esta pequeña joya lo suficiente.

We have visited the bay tree on many occasions.the staff are always really friendly and helpful and the coffee is amazing.they really know what they are doing.its very refreshing to find a place which serves all homemade food which is all delicious.will always visit when in town and so should everyone.

Después de visitar el mercado y sentir un poco hambre, decidimos probar el Bay Tree, nos sirvieron por un joven amable miembro masculino del personal que nos atendió en el mostrador y nuestras bebidas luego nos llevaron por todo el Estado miembro femenino del personal...

Mientras que en vacaciones fuimos al mercado interior, tenía un chocolate caliente, que era increíble. La comida es buenísima, como donde el personal. Bien merece una visita

Visited here when looking at Market, nice buzzy space on a Market Hall. Nice coffee served by a friendly assistant. Would go again
