Precioso restaurante! ¡La pizza es divina y su tarta de queso también! ¡Buena porción también! Sin duda recomiendo la comida y el restaurante. Buen personal, buen servicio, gran vista desde la ventana del restaurante, pero paredes negras y no gran iluminación. Toma un tiempo para que tus ojos se adapten. Cueva bastante deprimente como los alrededores.

Waitress moody and some of the food revolting. When we politely mentioned the food wasn’t great we were told the food was bought in and the potatoes were from lunchtime and heated back up for dinner!!! He still charged us for the unpleasant food. We didnt have dessert, coffee or liquors as when you are out to eat customer service and how you deal with a complaint is important to us.

Arrived in the early evening on Friday & came here to check in to our accommodation. We were warmly welcomed, the gentleman was very polite and handed over everything we needed to know. The place has a calming and cosy ambience, lovely decor and overall it's a really inviting place. We booked for dinner and were sat by the window and beside the warm log fire. We had the Pinot Noir option to drink which turned out to be really enjoyable. To start we had the prawn cocktail starter between us, then I had the special BBQ rack of ribs and she had the Haddock. We shared each others' dishes and very much enjoyed them. Finished with the cheesecake and by that point we were very well fed. We were very well looked after and it was a pleasure dining at the bay restaurant. Thank you everyone! This was a birthday weekend away and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Wanted to thank you for a splendid time and I'm wishing all the best on your future. Dunbeath was a great getaway. Thanks again!

Average not bad just not great very dark decor and not much hospitality your just there imagine very busy in summer as limited places to eat views are good tho.

My partner and myself were there for lunch today. All I can say is wow best fish and chips I've had in Caithness. My partner had the burger and he struggled to finish it was so big. Will defo be back. Would recommend the bay for good food and the views are beautiful. Lovely staff.

We had a really lovely meal here today, and used a voucher our sons had recently bought for my BIG birthday, which has just passed. Starters delicious & burgers were amazing. There sadly was an issue with the expiry date on the voucher (it said it expired Aug '23 - should have read Aug '24!!!) - the owner thankfully agreed to honour it. A lovely lassie served us. The view across Dunbeath bay is amazing.

We came for dinner, fish and chips, burger and chicken burger. All very tasty and freshly cooked. Good selection of draught beers and don’t get me going on the amazing views across Dunbeath Bay. Definitely worth a visit.

Visitors to the area, staying with friends who live locally, called in for dinner three of us ordered fish and chips the fish was dry on talking to the manager about this he seemed to be in a temper about their mistake took the plates away and then we didn’t see him again until we got up to leave, he then expected us to pay full price for meals uneaten, we will never eat here again and advise you to not also.

Terrible stuff absolutely rude 3 out of the 6 meals well completely overcooked my fish was the size of a fish finger when we complained we had no apology or offered a replacement Would never go back When we did complain the manager swore and said this is b******* unacceptable behavior and no customer service skills

Amazing! Pod was spotless, modern and comfortable, the bed was so comfy, the sheets were soft and the view was lovely. Michelle was very responsive and helpful. The restaurant/bar is a minutes walk from the pod, food was so good and Jon was the perfect host, the locals were also so friendly. I can’t praise this place enough it was just amazing, the best nights sleep we had on our NC500 journey. Highly recommend and would love to go back.

Very welcoming and friendly owner and staff. Took great care over the gluten free. A member of staff recommended the Bay Burger and it was so filling and the best burger I've ever had, will definitely be back.

If you are feeling hungry and are passing this restaurant keep going. We called in having booked a meal and would struggle to find anywhere we've been to that has provided poorer service. On arrival we were ignored for a while whilst waiting as requested to be seated. When we were spoken to we were told 'you're table is over there'. No effort was made to take us to it or provide a menu as is generally the case. After about ten minutes the waitress asked us if we'd like to order at which point it finally clicked that we hadn't seen a menu yet. On ordering two drinks the coke was thin and watery whilst the lager was flat. On complaining about the lager was told that nothing more could be done and it looked perfectly fine. The landlord then took a mouthful before passing it back for us to finish. The food when it came, pizzas, were ok but nothing special. On paying the bill we then discovered we'd been charged for an extra pint of lager. Signs outside proclaim this venue as a restaurant of the year. If so I'd hate to see who they were up against. Avoid at all cost.

This place is a hidden gem! Viking/Norse themed restaurant with incredible views of the bay. Great food and beer with fantastic staff. If you are doing the Nc500 - treat yourself this is a must!

Overnight stop at nearby Inver House campsite and needed something to eat. How amazing to find the only food for miles around is so good!The staff are extremely friendly and although we had to wait a little while to be served they were attentive and we never felt forgotten. After all there is a limit to how many pizzas can fit in a proper oven at once.The best food we had had during a week in Scotland, generous portions and not over-priced. They have a great selection of things to drink too, including local craft ales and many different gins.Don't be put off by the exterior which looks quite small and unimpressive. Inside is spacious and very comfortable with panoramic views over the bay.Wishing the owners every success in these difficult times.

Visited for the first time to dine in, after enjoying many a takeaway with this restaurant during the pandemic.Seated in a lovely window table so we could soak up the view. Food was tasty, plentiful and came in a timely manner. Staff were all lovely - warm and engaging.We will absolutely be back!

I was about to write my review when I read the previous entryI was in the restaurant on the same night and also had the linguine, a special. It was delicious I also had with it a garlic bread with cheese and asked for added Chilli. Provided no problem, the young waitress couldn't have been better.My partner had the double burger and said it was one of the best burgers she has had.In addition we are both gin drinkers and they have not just well over 100 whisky choices but over 50 mainly Scottish or local sourced gins. I would recommend this as a stop on your NC500. It is a great pub with excellent food and lovely people.

Booked a table last night 24/08/21 for my husbands birthday whilst on holiday here. What a very disappointing evening. We both ordered the linguine and it was the worst we have ever had! The plates were cold and the food bland and tasteless. We told the waiter we were not happy and his reply was “well what do you want me to do about it”What a response!! Asked for parmesan cheese for the topping and was charged 50p. When we came to pay we raised our concerns with the owner who did not seem to care about our complaint.Will certainly not be recommending to family and friends.Avoid this place.

Arrived at restaurant at 2100 after travelling over 200 miles to be told they have just finished last orders , disappointing customer service to say the least . I will not be wasting my money at this diner during this stay in the area if this is their attitude to tourists .Poor show

The staff here are so helpful food is soooo tasty and amazing, but booking in advance is a must, we pre booked as we stayed in a campsite up the road which is just 4 mile walk so we could have a little drink too. Dogs are welcome too, warm friendly atmosphere and the Evie’s from the restaurant is lovely Food and staff are top notch!

Don’t let the outside of this place put you off. The inside is absolutely stunning and has a great view over the bay. We had a window table as you can see from the pics. Battered chicken burger was tremendous as was the chicken tikka pizza. All pizzas freshly made and love that the kitchen is open and you can see your food being made. Kids portions available. My kids had marguerita pizza, fish and chips and kids burger and cleaned their plates. Staff lovely and couldn’t do more for you. Owner came over and had a chat and told us about the place. Very reasonable priced. Definitely worth a stop if your in the area

Fantastic place to eat right on the NC500 route! Although it doesn’t look much from the outside, the interior is really cosy and welcoming with a brilliant pizza oven and well stocked bar. The food is brilliant, great quality and well priced. If it’s nice weather sitting in the garden overlooking the coast is fantastic. Couldn’t fault the visit at all. Brilliant staff, super friendly and accommodating. There’s ample free parking too which is great.

Arguably the best fish and chips I have had in a long time. The place was lovely overlooking the sea and the service was top notch. The fish was so fresh and batter wasn’t too oily or heavy. The scampi and the chicken curry wEre both top notch as well. If we lived close by we would be visiting this place very frequently.

I joined a few friends for a meal here, not really knowing what to expect. Having passed the Bay hundreds of times, I now regret not having tried it before. The atmosphere was fantastic, decor was unique and the staff were so accommodating.With a beautiful pizza oven on show, our choice was made before even looking at a menu. The pizza was fantastic. Chips were perhaps not the best quality, but overall the experience was fantastic. Will be back soon.

We drove past this place on the way to our campsite, as it has an ideal location right in the A9. Decided to go back for dinner and drinks in the evening.The place is unassuming from the front, but the interior is incredible. Open plan kitchen so you can watch your food being made, large window showing off a fantastic view of the bay and the decor was very smart and stylish.The staff were very friendly, the owner going our of his way to give us drinks and food recommendations and even stopped for a chat about the local area and how he came about to own the place. He was also training a new member of staff at the time, who he was very attentive to and patient when she was asking questions.The menu is very inclusive and varied, you won't have much trouble finding something you like. Good quality food and portion sizes for the price. They've got a huge selection of spirits and local lagers and ales. It was a lovely evening spent, and I'll be recommending the place to friends who are also trying out the NC500.

This restaurant and bar was taken over by new owners a year or so ago. The decor and layout of the premises has vastly improved, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Service wasn't that fast, but pretty good. However, the menu has changed a lot, and is much more limited than previously. If you like burgers and pizzas you will enjoy your visit! If you want something a little more sophisticated, you will be disappointed. I enjoyed their 'Meat Feast' pizza, as the quality was good. However, I was disappointed that at a restaurant overlooking the sea there was no fresh fish on the menu. Neither were there any straightforward steaks etc, with fresh vegetables and potatoes (rather than chips). The side salad which I ordered with my pizza was vastly overpriced, at £4.95. A local person said to me that the menu offered might appeal to passing visitors, but will not appeal to the local population. So I think that there is room for improvement.

Too busy to do a takeaway meal for just one customer. Also wanted to book a table for 20 in the coming days but I'll assume too busy and we'll now find elsewhere

Enjoyed a lovely family lunch today (16th) for our last day on holiday. Setting is beautiful and the restaurant is well designed inside. The staff team were friendly and attentive. Food ordered was great and well priced - 2 pizzas, burger and fish and chips. Food was fresh, hot and tasty. Will definitely return when next in Caithness. Highly recommended.

We are so glad we booked here for dinner on our NC500 trip. The battered chicken burger was the BEST burger we have eaten anywhere. It was soo good! The view and staff and selection of drinks are just great additions to this great restaurant.Will definitely recommend to anyone travelling and hopefully will be back!

Called in for an evening meal and we were glad we did. The menu is straight forward, we had the burger which was absolutely perfect. The staff were great, and the food was great, what’s not to like.

Where do I start with this restaurant/bar? Me and 7 of my friends are currently completing the NC500. We stopped off at Inver caravan park for the night and booked here to go for a few drinks and a meal to celebrate our last night on our trip. The first thing that stood out to us all was the fantastic location and sea views, the restaurant was only a two minute walk away from the campsite! Next was the modern decor the place was just gorgeous, we got speaking to the owner John and he showed us the before and after pictures of the renovation, something he was so passionate about it was great to see! We had delicious food at an amazing price as well as a few cocktails and bottles of wine. The atmosphere was fantastic. The staff really took their time to care for you and make sure they met all your needs. We ended our night on such a high and can say that this night was the best night on our trip.

Stopped in on Tuesday night with a group of six of us. Nice menu choice, not too much but something for everyone. Keeping the menu simple meant that everything was fresh and absolutely yummy! We had a selection of pizzas, (all delicious), fish and chips, and a pulled pork burger. We were all absolutely stuffed but after a while chatting and admiring the stunning views decided maybe we could squeeze in a dessert, and my, was that the right decision!! Cheesecake, carrot cake, pancake stack, sticky toffee pudding were all shared and polished off! Thank you x. Just wish we were here another night to revisit! Well done on the refurb. Magnificent!!

We stopped off at The Bay as a group of 8 on the NC500 and it has a very cosy but rustic atmosphere. The staff were so accommodating and friendly, making a real effort for us to feel welcome. Not only is the food so lovely, but so affordable too. The drinks selection is great and also so affordable. The view is stunning too, you cannot fault the place!

Stopped at The Bay with no prior booking as we were doing a road trip all over Scotland. My husband went in alone initially as our 7 yr old daughter is autistic and may have become distressed if we were turned away due to her lack of understanding about bookings. A man we presume is the owner, when my husband explained there were in fact 3 of us and why he had gone in alone, immediately said he would ensure he could give us a table despite the lack of a booking. He directed us to a quieter entrance, showed us to a quieter table out of the way and wasn’t phased when our daughter didn’t respond to him talking to her. We had a lovely meal without feeling our usual anxiety when we eat out with our daughter. All of the staff were amazingly sensitive towards her and the young man serving us didn’t mind when clearing our plates that she decided she wasn’t in fact finished. He said no problem, let her take her time and simply came back later on. The food was delicious, huge portions and well worth the cost - though I would have expected it to cost more due to the standard of the food being very good. No room for pudding, we were absolutely stuffed. We had the Bolognese pizza, pulled pork pizza and my daughter had the special which was a pesto linguine. Aside from the food being well worth a visit, I would commend all the staff for making us and our daughter welcome and comfortable. We often feel very isolated and excluded due to the lack of understanding people have in respect of autism but they not only had some understanding of autism, but also seemed to go out of their way to ensure we all had a nice time, which we did. For us, a meal out together can be difficult but they made it anything but.We cannot thank them enough for their kindness. Given a rating of 5 as that’s the max but I would score more if I could.
