We had dinner with my daughter and son in law, the food was excellent and the service was equally so. We will definitely return.

Absolutely love this place. The Sunday dinner is absolutely beautiful.. we now go every 5-6week. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Called in on speck while out walking. Warm friendly welcome from all the staff and nothing too much trouble. Ended up staying longer than planned and had the Sunday roast. Really lovely food, great value for money. Cannot recommend this pub highly enough. Will definitely go back.

Second visit, even better than the first. Nice relaxed country pub, pleasant efficient service coupled with locally brewed beer and well cooked food. Try the specials options, they would be at home in a good quality restaurant at twice the price.

Called in for lunch with my dog in tow. Absolutely fantastic lunch - freshly cooked, large portion and a warm welcome (to us and the dog). Lovely staff. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

This is a lovely warm welcoming pub, extremely dog friendly, really nice home cooked Sunday lunch, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and our 2 dogs, they had a real fuss made of them and were given water and treats! we will definitely be back

Had 3 beef and a lamb Sunday lunches. Food was lovely, service even better. Great if you enjoy a good crack with the people around you, great hosts and very down to earth. Only thing I could really say is the potatoes weren't quite salty enough and too much milk rather than butter but I suppose when you have a wide range of palates to cater for this is a hard one. Will definitely be back soon.

My cousin and I went for tea to this lovely pub. The staff were really friendly and inviting. They serve good, wholesome, home made food that is absolutely lovely and are very generous portions.

We had a sumptuous Sunday lunch at this fabulous country pub. Just ten minutes from the M62 off the A19 towards Doncaster, lies this historic Inn. A warm welcome from the friendly landlord and landlady started our feast. It is honestly one of the nicest Sunday dinners I have had at a pub. Really traditional and truly delicious. We both had pork (you can choose a large or a small portion) with wholegrain mustard mash, garlic and herb roasties, leak and bacon in cheese sauce (my favourite) and cabbage, with amazing Yorkshire puds and Gravy. Absolutely gorgeous. With drinks just £21.00. Gorgeous and cheap. Highly recommended.

Fantastic homemade Sunday lunch. Everything was perfect, there was even lamb on the menu which is unusual on a Sunday lunch. The staff are amazingly friendly and give a very personal touch to your dining experience. The food was beautiful, one of the best Sunday lunches we have had. Service time was good as well, if you want the personal touch matched with great food, good portions and friendly faces this is definitely the pub for you. Well done Bay Horse it was a pleasure and we will be sure to visit again 😊

Lovely pub with very friendly hosts. Me and my friend have visited a few times now for Sunday lunch. We also visited through the week and had a lovely meal and were spoilt for choice with the desserts. We will certainly be back very soon. Highly recommended

Food all home made,the friendliest of welcomes,ample portions and a great atmosphere.What more could you ask for? This place is buzzing with repeat customers and now we know why.We had a Sunday lunch here and it was cooked to perfection.Two large yorkshire puds and more than enough meat was on top of three choices of mash.Proper home made roasts and parsnips to accompany 2 more veg dishes left us both so full although we had to order the sweet.My wife had banoffee whilst i had the most choclatey fudge cake i have ever had,both home made.We will be back soon. Me and my partner decided to go for tea last night at the pub, we saw it was under new management and living in the village we decided we would give the food a try. We now wish that we hadn’t bothered and just stayed home and ordered a take away! We walked in to stand in the doorway and not be acknowledged, staff looked stressed and run off their feet. We decided to go to the bar to which we still had to wait for a table to be cleared. We were sat in a small area with a table of 9 people sat behind us and a table of 5 men to the side of us, their wives were sat near in another section and were constantly shouting to each other or were just in general ridiculously loud! The landlady was rushed off her feet and seemed pretty angry the whole time we were there. There were a group of people in the back marquee that refused to leave as their allotted time had finished and were threatening the landlord with violence. Once we finally got served, our food was brought to us 50 minutes after arriving, we did receive an apology for the wait and the food was actually okay. Which is why this has a rating of 2 and not a 1! People were walking about with no masks including staff which had their masks under their noses rather than covering their face, there was no social distancing, there was no track and trace app, no one took our number either, people were walking up to the bar to be served, other people from different tables were moving around and sitting with other people in the pub. We also shared our table for 2 with another random man who decided his drinks were going to be on our table! We thought about walking out a couple of times but decided we wouldn’t as we had ordered food and would leave as soon as we had eaten which we did. We will not be returning to this pub which is a shame as I have lived in the village my whole life. As me and my partner both work over the Christmas period, we go for a meal every year near Christmas when we have a night together and I feel this year it was ruined. We felt awkward and couldn’t sit and talk as the pub was so loud the whole time! Credit to the young man who was cooking and also serving and kept checking on us while we were eating to make sure the food was okay.

This was our first visit since the pub had been taken over, we all had burgers and they were huge! Service was great and the pub was very clean and covid secure, we really enjoyed our evening and have booked again for Christmas eve. It was lovely to see all the tables full and was a great atmosphere.

We booked a table for four on Saturday night, the pub was quite busy and had a lovely atmosphere. Hand sanitiser was available on arrival and everywhere was very clean.We all enjoyed our food (pie and chips and ribs with chips), the portions were huge and we couldn't finish it all!We loved it so much that we have booked again for Tuesday which should be even better as they offer the 'Eat out to help out' so will be cheaper than cooking at home.We have dined here several times and always enjoyed our food :)

I sent a message to the pub via the contact system, to ask if they still do a certain dish I like. Only to be met with not only a rude remark but it copied and pasted all over social media. I think this is a horrible thing to do, and having just moved back to Snaith from working abroad I’m disgusted what the pub has decided to do with my private message, I’m not even sure if it’s legal what they’ve done. Judging by the reputation this guys got in Snaith now, I very much doubt the pub will be open much longer. Such a shame from a once lovely little pub.

The Bay Horse Heck has put in all precautions and thoughtfully set up the out door space to ensure customers feel safe during these times. Fish and chips are well worth the travelling for and I don’t even like mushy peas but there mushy peas are the only time I can honestly say we’re even better than the fish and chips which were exceptional! Always a good pint and friendly service well worth the trip along to the next village. Highly recommend.

Went on a whim for a meal out, the pub has been set up responsibly for social distancing with markers and hand sanitiser. This helped me feel more comfortable with my choice to return to eating out. The menu is reduced but there’s still plenty of choice, the ribs were amazing and Chef Chris accommodated me wanting a (perfectly cooked I must add) jacket potato instead of chips. The staff are friendly, the environment welcoming and I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit.

Just had a really great meal at The Bay Horse with the very warm welcome which is always guaranteed at this gem of a country pub.Measures are in place to ensure safety and this is strictly adhered to and upheld by the team with constant cleaning going on which was fantastic to see in these difficult times.The Food was cracking as always, Chef Chris always does a fantastic job every time. Our plates were clear and our bellies were full!We were a little worried about how safe eating out would be but needn’t have stressed, The Bay Horse have it all taken care of and we very much enjoyed our evening.

Me and mates stopped off for fish and chips, tiny tiny portions, fish was smallest I’ve ever had, must be a kids portion! But at full price! We got to sit at tables as well which is a bit weird in middle of car park and full of dust!

Chris and Chrissie have made a great job of continuing to serve the community in the strange "lock down" times. They are now providing a food and drink delivery service to a massive area around the village'The reson for my review is because my wife and I had the greatest fish and chip Friday I have had in a long time. The fish was delicious and tasty and the chip were undoubtedly home made, coupled with the beer delivered in kegs it made the best stay at home Friday I have ever had.I can only recommend that you try it.Andy M

I can’t write enough about this place. Have been a few times for the cavery on a Sunday and every time it seems to get better. Can’t praise Chris and Chrissie enough.

Excellent location for a nice meal to end the week .The best Rib Eye steak I have had for a long time, Medium cooked , very tasty & well presented. My wife opted for Sea Bass and top marks to the chef, cooked to perfection and well presented. Definitely worth a visit to this friendly pub in Great Heck. My daughter and I went for the fabulous Steak Night last Thursday, I had the 16 oz monster in the Bone, blue/rare, my daughter has Fillet Medium rare, both with chips and Onion rings and WOW they were superb, with a Bottle of Red and a few beers it was a great night, and the company in the pub and staff was wonderful, already booked again, going to have to take the Boss this time, it’s not cheap, but the food is top quality and worth every penny.

Well worth a visit, what a wonderful friendly place and the food is delicious. We will be visiting again soon.

Me and my family have been to this pub since the new owners have taken over and wow what an amazing little pub it is. The food is gorgeous and at a great price. The owners go out of their way to accommodate you and so friendly. The things they have done to this pub are brilliant. Ignore the last review as they clearly have an issue and nothing better to do. Probably got told his favourite pudding had run out or something so little that they decide to slate the place on here and make a load of lies up. Keep doing what your doing Bay Horse Inn it's a beautiful little pub you should be proud of yourselves!

We have just enjoyed a family meal with out two teenagers, the food was amazing and the pub is so cosy and welcoming with it's log burner. Very reasonably priced and although the pub seemed full the service was good and we were not rushed to finish our meal, would highly recommend!

We stumbled across this as a meeting point for a few drinks before heading out. The landlord came over and welcomed us to the bay horse. Would highly recommend to anyone. Restaurant not open every night so make sure before wanting to eat there. Thanks again, will be back

Recently moved into the area and visited the bay horse inn for bonfire night, me and my 5 year old son absolutely loved the fireworks display. The people who keep this pub are lovely the landlord gave out sparklers on arrival the food was great I’m told the Sunday carvery is the best in the area I will be back soon to try this worthy of 6 stars

Very friendly staff always willing to help with anything I’ve asked. The food was of a very high standard and price of food is very reasonable. Would recommend to anyone.

Fine dining food with proper pub grub In a quaint village pub. That's my take on this pub - quality over quantity and booking is essential judging from one disgruntled guest.

We have found a gem of a pub. Outside it looks the part with well kept hanging baskets. As you will know that i take as top priority easy parking. There is enough space here for me. The interior is tradional, but has a modern feel, so there is the best of both worlds. The staff were very friendly, and as we had ordered a meal served us for drinks at our booked table. The menue was varied and catered for all of our party of five's needs. I had the best crab and prawn cocktail starter I have ever had, followed by a wonderful crab salad, both so well presented. There is a wide range of beer and lagers on offer. My family ordered olive starters, Guinness and steak pie, burgers and chips, and curry , rice and chips. Everything well presented and clean. I must go back very soon to try the pie, burgers etc, as I fancied everything. All were very impressed with every aspect of our wonderful family experience. (It was our 45th Wedding Anniversary). We are looking forward to visiting soon. I cannot recommend The Bay Horse enough. Chris and Chrissie, it is a credit to you. See you soon!

I agree with the management response on the review from the 9th July. The pub is almost full Thursday to Sunday. Booking is essential! I can understand people being disappointed by turning up for food only to be told the pub is full, but no need for such a bad review, that can effect business. The owners would have done everything they could accommodate welcoming guests if it was in their power, but if space is not available then it just isn’t.. The pub has the best food in the area and the owners are fantastic. The pub is very much worth a visit, and I recommend the crab salad myself!

The Bay Horse staff were very welcoming. The function they hosted for the Greenwood family was a fitting tribute with quality food and drinks on offer. This country style pub has an excellent atmosphere which is both relaxing and enjoyable. Nothing is too much for the landlord and landlady who have recently taken over this quant and very pretty establishment. Thank you very much for such a warm welcome.

Arrived Saturday evening 7:45 board outside said they served food until 8:30. Barmaid claimed they’d finished serving. When asked what time she looked at the clock and changed her reply to oh we’re full ( yeah really looked like it not) Well if they can afford to turn down customers they can afford to lose them. Knowing how pubs struggle to survive one day they might think twice about turning down £50+.

Always a friendly welcome from the hosts Chris and Chrissie, the pub is light and airey, the food is lovely, we frequently visit for Sunday carvery as excellent value for money but top quality as well

Just had a fantastic Sunday Carvery at the Bay Horse in Great Heck. New landlords Chris and Chrissie have recently taken over the pub and have completely transformed the look and feel of the place (inside and out) as well as the menu (which has something for all tastes).

Just been for a fabulous Sunday Roast at the Bay Horse, plenty of meat choices, Gammon, Pork & Beef and a vegetarian option too. Chris & Chrissy welcome you with open arms and are so friendly. Just arrived home after enjoying a beautifully cooked Sunday lunch at the Bay Horse.

Just eaten in this beautifully refurbished little country pub. Chris and Chrissy make you so welcome. The food is first class, freshly cooked for you, presentation is beautiful and taste is exceptional.

When you enter you realise this pub has just been re-furbished. It has a good old English Country feel to it with a great atmosphere. The landlady and landlord, Chrissie and Chris have recently moved in and already they have given it a completely different and relaxing feel. "The old Mill" Brewery supply the beer which is always well kept by this couple and worth the visit just for proper ale. We had Sunday lunch cooked by Chris who is properly trained. This was just like the old proper at home Sunday lunch and was wonderful. I cant fault the place.

Welcome to the new look at The Bay Horse. Chris and Chrissie have transformed this lack lustre establishment and made it a friendly and comfortable home from home.Its incredible new look is down to damn hard work and boy has I paid off. The change in atmosphere and the wonderful food supplied by Chris will turn this back into the hub of Great Heck where it belongs. Come and relax and get cosy by the wood burner and try a special recipe grapefruit gin. Highly recommended.

This country pub/restaurant is now under new management. It has a nice cosy feeling and under the process of re-furbishment/decoration. The new owners are putting a lot of effort into making this a welcoming place to eat or have a drink. We recently went to a Thai Night and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is certainly worth making a visit here to experience the food and friendly surroundings.

This little gem has been totally transformed by the new landlord and landlady Chris and Chrissie. It was tired and rum down but in a month it has turned into an establishment fit to grace the heart af any village. It serves excellent beer, good food (especially fish) and my own paticular favourate Chris's secret recipe grapefruit gin. The pub is comfortable with log burners giving of that lovely smell and the warmth of greeting is just great. Chrissie has the knack of giving the place a wonderful ambiance from the gin bottles full of twinkly lights to the artwork and touches of shabby chic. Definately one to visit. Oh, make sure you try the garlic mussels. My oh my so very tasty. The carvery on Sunday makes your mouth water with roast potatoes done in duck fat-another favourite of mine. The Bay Horse wecomes all ages with children not allowed after 9pm which I agree with wholeheartedly plus there is one of the three rooms for adult dining only which I like. There is still some work to be done and it will make the place more ad more popular especially during summer as it is very close to the marina and a firm favourite for fishermen for beeakfasts. Try it and see. You will go back.

Havent been for a good few years so decided to try it isnt too far away and wanted food at tea time. Place was empty apart from a couple of blokes at the bar, a barmaid and a toddler who just wandered around. Felt like we were intruding in someones front room complete with bad language!! Cold boring surroundings!! Food came out stone cold after a long wait altho waitress had gloves on cos plates were hit???!! and we sent it back!! Waitress apologised and returned sometime later with 2 more meals which were tasteless and thrown together. We werent offered coffee or puddings infact we werent looked after at all and had to wait at the bar to pay the bill altho the ‘landlord’ said he had never had food returned in the 3years he had been there, was sat at the bar. Paid full price for 2 very substandard meals £22.95!!!

There aren't many places these days you can go where you get, a warm & friendly, family atmosphere, delicious, home cooked food that is freshly prepared, not microwave plastic rubbish! The owners Kaya & Craig are very welcoming, along with all the staff being polite & friendly too! A safe & great play area for children aswell as plenty of outdoor seating when the weather is kind! We love it here, up until coming to the Bay Horse we didnt go out much, but now we have the perfect excuse as we can all get on our bikes & enjoy some quality family time in a brilliant environment!

This is a great place to eat and drink. The atmosphere and welcome are second to none. There is a specials board which is regularly updated or changed. Its so good I have used it as my regular now for the last few months.

Called in on a Monday on the off chance, warmly greeted by host. Place was pretty much empty of diners, so we had our choice of seating.

Me and my mother would both highly recommend The Bay Horse Inn, all thanks to the staff and chefs who cooked/served us a wonderful meal for my mothers birthday. They went above and beyond by giving great service and delicious food, were soon to be going again next month for my Grandad's birthday.

Been before, took some friends thinking it would be as nice last time.....sadly not! Waited about 40 minutes for food even though the pub was empty, when served it was one plate at a time, portions were small, the mixed grill was the most disappointing with 4 very small pieces of meat and shop bought onion rings, 3 tiny mushrooms and half a tiny tomato! At £14.95 NOT value for money. Wont be going again!!

Called in on a spur of the moment decision for Sunday lunch. and soon wished we hadn't.Lovely aroma as we entered but the spacious pub / restaurant was deserted at 1pm.Pleasant bar staff.Shown to a table and were given a choice of Beef Pork or lamb as the turkey wasn't ready yet.Decided on the lamb and after what seemed an eternity in the empty room but probably only 20 25 minutes or so, ready dished up plates were brought to our table,The lamb was tasty however a little overcooked , one slice and the rest in bits?3 re heated tiny pieces of roast potatoes and a splodge of what we thought was either smash or whipped to an inch of its life mash but still lumpy.The small Yorkshire pudding was shop bought.a separate dish of well presented well and truly over boiled veg arrived, carrots, watery cabbage and broccoli that was yellow?The gravy was good.After the long wait we left just after 2 with only one other couple daring to enter.The pub / restaurant has changed hands since our previous three visits where although Sunday lunch was plated up and brought to the table, the quality and portion size was far better.I cannot understand how when offering "home cooked" Sunday lunch they cannot be bothered to make their own Yorkshire puddings and have to re heat what should be crispy and fresh from the oven roast potato's etc.Just over £20.00 with two drinks was on the expensive side for what we had.Sadly we will not be returning unless we hear it has improved dramatically.

been there a few times before and was very good but went on Sunday and it has changed hands we were very disappointed with it, the potato didn t taste very nice as if it had been reheated and had lumps in it , was not impressed that it was nt very hot and also had to go and ask for the serving spoons ,it had also gone up by £2 we were quiet regular for there lunches but WOULD NOT GO AGAIN ! personally i would have complained there and then but my partner would nt let me !!!!!!!

Had a lovely family meal, with three small children.Staff were very helpful and friendly offering to take our drinks to the table. Quick service but they do not hover over you. Food was very good, with the children able to order a half portion from the main menu. The food is very clearly made from scratch and very tasty. Would recommend and will return.Lovely pub grub and relaxing place to be.

We have recently moved to Hensall a village near both Goole and Selby and have made point of visiting as many local pubs and eating places as we can. We found this place on the internet and have visited 4 times in the 3 months we have been here. We have eaten here 3 times and believe me not been disappointed. Both bar and restaurant service is polite professional and friendly.the place is situated in a small village easily accessible from the local area. it has a car park and nearby street parking. Its a pub serving drinks from the local brewery at Snaith.. an excellent pint. Its an old/worldly English village pub which serves and extensive and very enticing selection of meals.portions are large fresh and served promptly. I have visited three times to eat and tried different each time and never been let down. Well worth a visit and combined with a canal voyage (just at the back) a cycle ride or walk its a great place to eat drink and relax.

We have had Sunday lunch here on many occasions, the beef and the gravy is simply superb. Always our first choice. Lovely environment and the staff are brill!! Thoroughly recommended.
