Food was excellent and price was ok. Just be aware that if you are talking and drinking it seems you have a bigger gap between courses than others. 😊. 3 hours for 2 courses seemed slightly excessive and the bar bill ended up costing almost as much as the food. Our own fault entirely (we weren’t forced to drink) but helped by the big gaps between courses.

Always great food and lovely service. They also do deals on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays where you can get a 3/4 course meal for around 15-16.

My elderly parents and I visited the restaurant this evening. The food was delicious and the staff could not have been friendlier or more attentive. We each had popadoms and then the “midweek special” which was excellent value for money. We had a super time and look forward to returning soon.

Have always enjoyed visiting Shapla but was disappointed to be told when paying the bill on this occasion that only 2 card payments are allowed per table! As a large group this didn’t work for us so the manager said he would allow us all to pay by card “on this occasion”. There will not be another occasion as we won’t be returning if this is the new policy. Also strong smell of paraffin in restaurant which is quite off putting.

This place used to be fantastic. Most Saturdays we would have a takeaway and couldn’t fault it until these past months. The prices increased and the standard went down hill badly. Everything seems to be spiced up so much including raita. Never had spicy hot raita and have to say it’s appalling. This is our last time of using this place. I’m sure those people who were complaining tonight are of the same opinion too. Very sad.

Visited here with friends after a recommendation following their recent 'make over'. What was a traditional pub has now diversified and offers both a well stocked bar / seating area (which had a superb real ale on when we visited) plus a new Indian restaurant. We were greeted by friendly staff from the restaurant and offered the chance to peruse the extensive menu in the bar area. We enjoyed reasonably priced drinks in a very smart, refurbished bar with an excellent host and then walked through to our table. The food is all freshly prepared and despite a short wait, is well worth it. Superb starters and mains in such quantity that doggie bags are a must! This popular restaurant is gaining a good reputation which is well deserved. We will definitely return. Highly recommended.

I can highly recommend the carvery which we had today. The vast choice of fresh veg plus mash new potatoes and roast potatoes. The roast meats were succulent with lovely stuffing and battered onion rings and homemade Yorkshire Puds. You can go back for second helpings if you wish. Excellent value at £7-75. Plus the owners and staff are very friendly.

We'r local and would love to see this pub do well! The food is really good but the service is terrible! This latest visit there were only 6 other people in the restaurant, 2 of which had already eaten. We waited over half an hr at our table before we were asked for our order, no apology! God knows how they'd cope if really busy! Need more staff or to get act together if they're going to do well here

We were over there in May 2013 for 4 days, and we had the breakfast (it was great). The Landlords were the best and took good care for us.The food was good (the best we had in years in England)The pub and the rooms are from a different ownerThe rooms were clean but were not A+, (i would lose the bath and put in a shower),also put a little shelf in the bathroom and take care of the plumming because my friends room was flood . Older people can not take a shower because it is to dangerous. We will go back next year,it is so nice and quiet and the pub owners are the best

My partner and I stayed one night bed and breakfast. Lovely people, the pub looked very nice, though as we were eating out we never sampled the menu. Unfortunately the rooms do let the place down. The builders mugs that were provided for your hot drinks looked like they had just had a swill round in the bathroom sink. Going for breakfast we found the pub in darkness and totally closed. Where was our breakfast?! We saw another guest packing his car and asked if he had had breakfast and he said he had been told the landlady wasn't going to be bothered to cook him breakfast! Should you book do confirm the breakfast is included as it should be, ours wasn't! After packing we did one last check to make sure we had everything. I happened to look under the bed and cringed.....needless to say this establishment has never cleaned under the beds! Food containers from other guests isn't impressive at all. If you are a contractor or builder looking for the basics and don't mind stained bed spreads etc...this is for you, otherwise I would go to The Premier Inn nearby

The food is not bad and prepared freshly on the premises. If you are looking for local fare then you will not be disappointed with the restaurant. The Landlords are friendly. If you require nothing more than the basics in accommodation then The Bay Horse will suffice. We were given a twin room at the back of the block. The beds were singles, uncomfortable and the walls very thin. You can hear everything that happens in the adjoining rooms including early morning alarm calls and late night TV viewing. The area is well lit and there is adequate parking. Goole, York, Selby etc. are all relatively close by. Everything in the area is booked up at the moment because the local power stations are building Biomass units so be warned and book ahead of time to avoid getting stuck. The pub offers free WI-FI.

We stopped in on a Tuesday late afternoon. There was only one table occupied so it was nice and quiet. We both had double scoop cones. There were loads of ice cream flavours to choose from. Yummy.

We booked into the lodges next to the Gardeners Inn and decided to walk around for dinner & drinks. The venue is decorated for Halloween which I did enjoy and we had a lovely welcome from the waitress. A few item were sold out but the menu was plentiful and the food did not disappoint. I had the sizzling hunters chicken and my partner had Korean Chicken. Portion size was fantastic the side salad & slaw was fresh, definitely the best hunters chicken I’ve had. Banoffee Pie & cream for dessert again it was better than any other I’ve tried. Lovely atmosphere, service time felt right for the number of tables eating and the price was reasonable. Would recommend 100%

First visit to this lovely little restaurant to celebrate 🍾 both Mother’s Day and my wife's 60th birthday and we were not disappointed! The setting in the window table with background music and plenty of space was perfect. We ate off the a la carte menu and we both had three courses complimented by a bottle of fizz. Each course was food heaven and the service was exceptional so we will be returning for the Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday in April. Thank you
