The Batter Of Bosworth in Hinckley and Bosworth

Completely underwhelming and quite expensive. Small portion and as you can see from the photo, won't be eating all of them! Staff were too busy larking around to get peoples order correct. Disappointed and won't be going there again.

Son had a lovely mini fish abd chips and staff were very friendly and accomodating. Chips were cooked perfectly and large portion more then enough to share.

Friendly, clean and good prices. The chips were absolutely delicious! Popped in just before closing and they were happy to serve, felt guilty going in near closing time but they made us feel welcome.

Great chips, Pukka pie as good as always, having grown up next to the old factory 60 years ago and the pea fritter was ace. Good value these days, excellent service, very friendly.

Just had two haddock with chips. The fish was undercooked with soft batter that stuck completely to the wrapper. Totally unappetising. Chips were cold as well. While in the shop two of the people working there were openly arguing and obviously not concentrating on what they were doing. I was looking forward to fish and chips but ended up with something inedible. You have just lost two customers.

Worse chips I have ever tasted the was cold and old and £3.80 for a bag of chips even Siri say it’s expensive

I've lived locally for nearly 15 years and yet have never really used this chippy until recently. Wish I had found it sooner! Lovely fresh chips, generous portions and plenty to chose from.

Literally only when i crave fish and chips i travel 3 hours from London because, let me tell you , there is no other place quite like it!! The BEST FISH AND CHIPS EVER! Great food at a reasonable price. Staff take your orders at the door and then you wait over the road until your number is called. This works out very well as the shop can stay open and customers can observe social distancing.

Steve, Jude, Adam et al always provide service with a smile (and wonderful banter).Food is great, love to take my mini fish and chips, curry sauce and separate small battered sausage and sit in the countryside locally to enjoy it, often watching the sun go down. They have a great telephone order/collection service operating - we leave home, order on the way and it's ready when we arrive. Long may you continue!(Very regular visitors)

£24 for Cod and chips and sausage and chips twice. It was not COD. Whole family were ill later in the night. Worst take away we have even had in 53 years.

We visited this chip shop whilst camping at Bosworth water trust. It is only a short drive away from there. The chip shop was dealing with a huge food order yet dealt with the customers meanwhile in a confident and efficient manner. The staff are friendly, funny and really went the extra mile, even giving my son a lollipop for free while we waited. The food we ordered was excellent, some of the best fish and chips we had ever eaten. We will definitely be returning and will be very willing to travel the 35 mile journey it is from our home. Looked for pub reestaurant where we could take dog in with us, short walk from canal where we barging . after being disappointed came across this suberb gem, all fish and chips freshly cooked for us which were suitably seasoned and packaged to take to nearby market square to fill our tums, glad the weather was warm.Staff very helpful and friendly.

Great quality fish and chips from easily found chip shop in Market Bosworth. Fish was large and beautifully cooked while the chips were also well prepared. Tasty meal.

Moored at the canal on narrow boat and walked into the town, over a mile but worth the walk. The fish and chips were made to order, piping hot and delicious. We sat on some chairs in the high street area to enjoy them in the sun.

An occasional visit with the grandchildren as they like fish and chips. Us olds have eaten fish & chips many times and sadly the Batter always has overcooked fish and greasy chips. Shame to say that we won't be returning.

Health kick was supposed to start in the NY but after such enjoyable fish and chips we had over Christmas, thought I’d better treat myself again! Fish was chunky with lovely batter and plenty of chips too! The pea fritters are a great purchase as well. I’m sure I’ll be back again soon!

Overpriced for the size of the portions. Undercooked mini fish, chip portion very small compared to others locally. Mushy peas, curry sauce overpriced. Shows they have no competition. Best to avoid and go elsewhere.

We’ve been quite a fan but tonight although queues were long and business was good I ended up with warm fish warm chips and warm peas. How can that be as I parked right outside and I had hot plates waiting in the oven!

Visited previously as love the pea fritters but tonight the chicken kebab had very little chicken in comparison to previous meals but the same price! consider it does depend who servers you! previously small portions have been an issue on occasion! will learn how to make the pea fritters in the future.

We found this chip shop by chance ( needs more signs seems hidden) Great service,fabulous fish & chips & scollop cheese batch,great price just wish it was in Hinckley but would travel to get the best.

Ordered in advance, 14 different meals of Fish, Pies and Sausage with Chips, Mushy Peas a Curry Sauce. Ordered for 7.0pm and ready at exactly that time. Fish packed separately in boxes to prevent going soggy. The whole lot nicely wrapped and put into a large plastic holdall. Great and well done. Thank you.

Dropped into this place on way to fireworks last weekend and got mini fish and chips for myself and chp butty for the OH. first of all the portions are huge - insane amount of chips with a regular meal - my mini portion was plenty for me and should be considered an average meal.

Really expensive and not the cleanest for a very small building . it cost quite a lot for small portions and the tiles were dirty for a rather small premises .

I adore these fish and chips. Beautifully cooked light batter, huge portions, delicious, very friendly staff. Highly recommended. Each trip for me is a 27 mile round trip but well worth it.

There's nearly always a queue. The food is Fab. The hand made onion rings are to die for. It's fun banter and fantastic food. Expect to wait most of it is cooked fresh.

The Fish and Chips are absolutely Fantastic/Delicious and yummy. You may have to queue but its worth the wait. Not easy to park. Park in the Square and walk down (3mins) away.

Decided on a trip out and fish and chips in the car. It's a busy chippy, with friendly staff. We had our fish and chips boxed which makes them easier to eat. All was delicious and very hot. Great mushy peas too.

We popped into here on the off chance as we were hungry last night, and we were very surprised by the quality, and the portion sizes and how freshly the food is and prepared and how it tasted.Everything that we ordered was hot and the order was served up very quickly.It was great to see staff work so professionally and showing pride in what they are producing and serving to there customers. This chip shop is well worth a visit if your are travelling through market bosworth.

I think the people saying they have had bad service and food from this chip shop must be the competition trying to put people off!!Everything I have tried from The Batter of Bosworth so far has been the best I have tasted ever. The fish is gorgeous whether you have cod or haddock. Batter is beautifully light and yummy. The chips are crispy and lovely and you get loads. I couldn't finish them even though I wanted to. The kebabs are to die for!!I'm going tonight cause I've made my mouth water just thinking about it!!

Ridiculously long waits for fish and chips from...... a fish and chip shop, then you tuck in to the sumptious texture of uncooked fish. Give them the benefit of the doubt, everyone makes a mistake, right? Yep, mine was going back and getting uncooked fish again after another massive wait.

OK, so if you happen to be in the area, and many visitors do seem to go the the Battle of Bosworth attraction, this place really should be on your list of where to buy food from.There are plenty of good traditional British Chippys but this one is a real cut above. They even do gluten free on Fridays and Saturdays if you happen to need that.

Be prepared to queue if visiting during the summer months as this is a small fish and chip shop. Good selection and most cooked freshly, but the fish does tend to be quite greasy.

This chip shop makes the most out of its customers with its over priced small portions because it's the only chip shop in market bosworth so they can charge what they like. When we first started going there 6 months ago the fish were quite large and the chips were lovely but now the fish is dried out and full of grease same as the chips , flooded in grease. I wouldn't even say that the cleanliness is to standard when an item is dropped on the floor and still used to pick something out of the cabinet. It's a shame that this chip shop doesn't give the loyal customers a better standard of service.

Fantastic fish and chip shop , gluten free is fabulous! If you are visiting Leicester , this is the best one to go too , staff are very clued up on coeliac , the owner Steve is a great host and makes you feel normal . We can't wait till our Saturday night treat

Exactly what it is - delicious, fresh fish and chips. Huge portions - you won't be hungry. Note - only a small window bar of seating area, but plenty of options nearby. Great prices.

I know we always try and keep to healthy eating. And generally we do. However a fort nightly/monthly treat of no veg and such a delight can't be that bad. Lovely people willing to go that bit further to ensure fantastic service. One member of the family being gluten free makes it a little difficult sometimes but not with this fish and chip bar. Beautiful food. Fantastic service. It may only be on a Friday and Saturday but we can cope with that. Just very grateful.

I had mini fish and chips which were succulent and not greasy, plenty for 1. my wife had kebab meat ample portion all food very hot and great value under 8:quid.

Despite having several fish and chip shops in the village, we travel 9 miles to The Batter of Bosworth. The reason being, they are simply the best fish and chips. Special orders can be plaiced (!) on the way in such as for Lemon Sole. The batter is very crispy and the chips just right, neither are "soggy" - even after the trek home. The staff are very friendly and efficient and process the orders quickly plus there is always good banter in the queue. Orders can be phoned ahead and boxed, we even had our birthday party order wrapped in tin foil to keep it warm for the journey home. In the summer there is nothing better than ordering fish and chips from here and taking them to the local park round the corner with a bottle of wine - would highly recommend The Batter of Bosworth.

Great chip shop with everything that you would expect from fish, pies, burgers, kebab meat etc. On weekends and to order they serve gluten free fish and chips which I have never seen anywhere before. The wait can be quite some time at busy periods but the service is fast.

Had fish and chips (recommended in a box) from here for the town lights on gathering. Queue was out the door but it was well worth the wait.The chips were honestly the best I've ever had from a chippy. Red hot and crispy (with some actual colour on them, not pale and soggy)The fish just disintegrated in my mouth and the batter was light and crunchy, as it should be.

If the Batter of Bosworth had been open the day before a well known local battle, I reckon the outcome would have been very different.I travel from my village, to eat here. Quality is guaranteed, and there is plenty to choose from the menu. At the weekend, they even do gluten free and have a dedicated fryer just for that (I don't need gluten free, but worth sharing that).They do get very busy, and on occasion a mistake has crept into the order. They are more than happy to correct that on your next visit, no questions asked.The cod and haddock are fabulous, but you can have whitebait, sole and other delights cooked to order - ask on arrival to save waiting!A very British meal, done very well.

I feel conned, not only did I get a chicken kebab with virtually no meat, I complained by phone, I was offered something the next time I came in. The next time I got large chips but was charged for large chips.

Visited on a night the owner was not present and this is always a bad move. The young man who works there constantly moans about management and is really quite embarassing. Ordered haddock and for almost five pounds I didn't expect undercooked fish and awful soggy batter. So bad when I got home I rang to complain and said young man mumbled an apology and then cut me off. The chips were soggy and so no meal for me. Went to newbold verdon instead and got served by happy friendly staff and had a huge crispy haddock and amazing chips, won't go anywhere else, certainly not batter of bosworth. Shame.

Never bother with this rude over priced Tiny portioned place again!!!The owner is rude, Staff smoke out the back next to the door then serve up food with out even washing there hands.when leaving the shop to walk back to my car the extractor fan from the chip shop blows a dirty oil smell in your face:-( I bit off putting to say the least.although the food is nice the fish is about the size of two fish fingers and just enough chips for one child......
