My husband booked Afternoon Tea with family to celebrate my 60th birthday. Having been here for lunch about 7 years ago, I was very excited to return and celebrate in style. We arrived early and were greeted nicely and explained we were keen to have a walk around the garden and a drink whilst waiting for everyone else. When we sat down at our table on the terrace, (there were three of us at this point), I asked for a gin and tonic, as did my brother and then the waitress started to walk away. We then called her back and my husband asked if he could order a drink too! When two other family members arrived, we called the waitress over again and asked for a further drink, but once again, she started to walk away without waiting or asking if the 5th person wanted a drink! When the last two members of our party arrived, one ordered a bottle of beer and we had to ask three times with it eventually arriving an hour after initially being ordered. When the afternoon tea arrived, the description of everything on offer was very rushed and we were left trying to remember everything that was said. It would have been lovely to have been given a card for the table with some descriptions. At this point there seemed to be a complete lack of staff and when we needed more cutlery and plates, we had to raid other tables as there was no one around to help us. Only once did someone come and check on us and then seemed surprised we had needed more plates and cutlery. Having just eaten meat and piccalilli, many of us wanted fresh plates for the cakes. When the scones and cream arrived, although warm and delicious, the amount of cream offered, would definitely not have been enough for two scones each. Thankfully everyone was full by this point and we asked if we could have some bags to take the remainder home. Despite 7 people being in attendance, we were provided with two small brown bags! We then waited and waited to see if anyone was coming to check on us, but eventually my husband went to the Reception to pay the bill. Having been out for another afternoon tea two weeks earlier, I would have to say, that one far exceeded this experience and at almost half the cost. We were aware how much it was per person when it was booked, but at £50.00 per head we expected far better service and a greater experience than we received. Sadly, despite the beautiful surroundings we will not be returning.

The best 'resteraunt experience' I EVER had (TWICE!) I went there (with my younger sister who is now 38 yrs old) on my mothers LAST Birthday -,about April 2022 (she passed away the following December). I previously went there -,also with the same sister & my mother a couple of years earlier for MY Birthday treat - & MY Sisters Birthday too, as we were both born in November (me on 4th in 1964; and my sister on 3rd in 1984). Best quality food I have EVER tasted - 4 course 'A La Carte' - small sized portions, I thought, but EXTREMELY good quality food & excellent service on BOTH visits, so not that bad value after I thought about it for a while afterwards. The quality & 'richness' of the food is so great, you would not want bigger portions - & I could not have paid for bigger portions anyway as their prices were (then), ummm OMG! how much??? But still 'worth it', I think. I WOULD go there again, but I doubt I could afford it these days (especially if I was paying for more than one person), I doubt I could even afford 2 courses just for myself. So not likely to go again, sadly! Unless I won the lottery or something!!!

I booked to celebrate my mum’s 80th birthday, sent emails back and forth with queries relating to ensuring an umbrella was placed above our table on the terrace due to having elderly guests and originally I requested a flower bouquet for the table for my mother. As I didn’t hear back regarding the requests I arranged flowers elsewhere and rang to cancel the flowers. I also reiterated the need for an umbrella for the table as it was forecast to be extremely hot. We were seated at a table that didn’t have an umbrella and no shade at all (30 degree heat). Initially we hoped we were being moved to a different table at the booked time but this didn’t happen. We were attended to so slowly that it was 45 minutes until we got our first drink from the time of sitting down. We had to request an umbrella three times before it was provided and had no choice but to move the table ourselves in order for it to be covered. When the menus were brought they did not bring the child menu even though we obviously had a child with us so again had to ask for this which yet again took a surprisingly long time to arrive. After finally ordering food we were brought our sides and just needed the three main parts of the dish for three people. Five minutes later these had still not arrived so we asked about this (twice) as the sides were getting cold and did not receive them until nearly 20 mins later! Our waitress apologised and admitted it was her fault due to not putting the order through correctly. She offered us coffees on the house at the end of the meal which we had. If this had been the only issue with the meal I wouldn’t have felt the need to write this but the whole thing was so unsatisfactory from the start. For dessert we ordered specifically vanilla ice cream for our son (we were clear just vanilla) and yet the dessert arrived to the table with three different flavours in the same bowl. He is a neurodivergent child and is extremely particular about these things and this was just yet another mistake. The rattan seats were uncomfortable due to not having any seat cushions. I noticed some did and others didn’t. For such an establishment this should be an easy and obvious thing to rectify. The last thing was that when I asked for the bill I was told I had to get up and pay inside at the front desk even though I had clearly seen other tables (of perhaps obviously wealthy people) easily paying at their table. I didn’t leave a tip because the service was appalling from start to finish. What was meant to have been a very special celebration on a big occasion felt ruined. The only positive is that the food was excellent (when it eventually arrived) but I would never go there again for a special occasion as they are just not organised enough to manage it properly.

The food was exquisite and the presentation phenomenal. A very special night out. And the chef was outstanding at delivering lovely food for a gluten-intolerant diner. Our only complaint was that the waiting staff were slow to pour wine -- often delivering food and not looking at wine glasses to see if any diner needed more. That said, I would highly recommend this restaurant for people who appreciate great food.

We had booked a table for a birthday dinner. We have a registered assistance dog and informed the restaurant in advance. There was no issue with us having the dog. The staff were friendly and offered water for the dog and made sure we were sat in a comfortable place. The food was sublime. The service impeccable. The setting stunning. I can’t recommend this place highly enough, a wonderful evening made even more special by the understanding and kindness of the staff.

We had a wonderful experience with all of our meals during our stay. For our anniversary dinner we had the tasting menu. It was as flavorful and luxurious as it was beautifully presented. While we don’t usually spend this much on dinner it was a delightful and delicious treat and our service was excellent. The chef adjusted the menu for my dietary needs with wonderful substitutes.

Enjoyed a lovely Afternoon Tea experience here. The food was lovely and the scones were warm which was a lovely bonus. The only exception to the great Afternoon Tea, was fridge sandwiches. Pastries - savoury and sweet, cakes and scones were all top notch. The service was attentive and responsive. If this feedback is acted upon, then, easily 5 star experience.

Went for Mother’s Day afternoon tea was absolutely beautiful. Great variety of sandwich’s, savouries and pastries and all delicious! Fabulous selection of teas and coffees too. My Mum had a gluten free afternoon tea which was probably one of the best she’s had, she didn’t feel like she was missing out at all. Staff were lovely and extremely helpful, nothing was too much. Thank you so much! Will definitely be back!

The food at the Bath Priory is nice, if rather expensive and the staff service is polite and efficient. My only criticism is the very small portion sizes of main course dishes, which is surprising given the cost of the 3 course set dinner menu, £98 for 3 courses plus 10% additional discretionary service charge. The room we stayed in was generously furnished and clean although the carpets were slightly marked and stained and the table was marked with water stains, so overall with an impression of being slightly tired. This was a pleasant experience but at a price of £754 inc 10% discretionary service charge for a one night Saturday overnight stay for two people with breakfast and a 3 course evening meal and a £44 bottle of wine it was moderately overpriced and there is probably better value to be had elsewhere.

Ours was a 2 night stay for some R&R and to see some of Bath. The Priory is handily placed outside the clean air toll zone but still in easy walking distance of the City and its places of interest. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the hotel rooms are very comfortable and the spa works well albeit a bit small. The restaurant food for both breakfast and dinner was excellent and backed by an extensive wine cellar.........however we thought the wines were rather overpriced. Overall a very comfortable place to stay.

I took my wife for the Winter Spa Day for Two for her birthday treat. We both had a delightful relaxing afternoon after a 2 course lunch followed by a 60 minute Bath Priory Signature Massage and use of the spa for the afternoon. The meal was lovely and the afternoon was peaceful and relaxing in nice surroundings. The massage was very good as well. Definitely recommend.

The most perfect Valentines tasting menu made this a very special occasion. The food was unusual, delicious and beautifully prepared. The restaurant team at the Bath Priory are efficient, charming and helpful. I cannot recommend the whole experience highly enough.

The Priory is our favourite place to dine in Bath. Delicious food - very attentive friendly service / set in sumptuous elegant surroundings / our lunch this time was 10/10 perfection.

A great experience from start to finish. We opted for the 3 course a la carte menu which began at the table with 3 appetisers courtesy of the chef. They were sublime and very nicely presented. My pigeon starter was cooked perfectly although my wife’s tart was a bit runny! We both had venison as a main which was perfectly cooked-my only criticism would be that there was a lack of vegetables to complement the beautiful meat. I had a chocolate dessert (which was preceded by a palate cleanser which we both found a little too sweet-the thyme icecream alone would have been perfect) which was very nice. My wife had a soufflé but preferred my chocolate choice. The wines were quite expensive so we shared a bottle over 2 nights which was perfect. The staff are an asset to the hotel and are always very friendly and charming.

This was probably the nicest breakfast/brunch I've ever had! I went for the Full Nourish and it was delicious, I enjoyed every mouthful and didn't want it to end!

Lunch was included as part of a winter spa day. After the amazing spa day this could have capped off a great experience but instead nearly soured it. The service was very slow and the staff were rude. We were served totally flat champagne and when we politely mentioned it they spotted a stray bubble in one glass and didn’t replace that one. The calorie counts on the menus at least gave us a heads up about how mean the portion sizes were about to be. Starters - 3 tiny pieces of mackerel over some leaves - less than half a burrata. we asked for some bread to go with it, were told about a special bread board and then were left alone for 15 minutes. When they came back with bread we’d finally submitted to eating the burrata and they apologised that there had been a powercut Mains - max half a piece of cod with a few pieces of potato and chorizo and a mushroom - a few mouthfuls of tagliatelle The food was pretty good but we left starving. The main downside was the service - we were the only ones in there. We went from being treated like royalty in the spa to second class citizens in the restaurant
