The Bath House in East Devon

Had a lovely experience at the bath house this evening. Much nicer than previous visits. The pub looks incredible with new decor and much nicer atmosphere all around. Frazer, Kaz & Clare were behind the bar and all seemed happy to be there and very friendly. Food was also very nice and a huge improvement on previous experience. Well done guys. We’ll be back!

What a mistake nipping in here for lunch on Sunday bank Holiday weekend. Was staying at devon cliffs thought we go in to exmouth for lunch called in the bath house ordered 3 roast dinners and a steak meal told its a 40 minute wait. waited over a hour for food to came out it was awful roast potatoes where dry like they been cooked and rewarmed veg was Luke warm and under cooked then served with no gravy took me 5 minutes to get someone's attention to ask for gravy then they looked confused when I asked for gravy to go with me roast all I wanted to do was get refund for the food and leave but wife didn't want to make a fuss cause it was busy won't rush to go back.

Decided to call in last evening to see if the refurbishment had improved the inside as last visit it was beginning to be a bit grubby. We decided to try one of the burgers for me and my wife fancied the lasagna. Firstly we were overcharged for a half a pint of larger at £6 and then the burger and my wife’s additional portion of chips, these were in a small enamel dish and totalled 9 chips, then kept going downhill as her lasagna arrived. This lump of dried out loaf like burnt lasagna was awful, when I pointed it out to the server his attitude was a blank expression and it’s not my fault. We decided to return it and the came back with a few extra chips to up the portion and a freshly cooked lasagna, however the chef which I use that word lightly had just microwaved a new one and it was hot on the outside and stone cold inside. I gave up and had a refund for her meal however I had half eaten mine so we ended up having to go elsewhere for a meal for her which when you are away for a few days is not really the best experience. The server dealing came out and apologised that they were just getting used to a new menu but I did comment if your chef can’t microwave a meal then they really don’t deserve the title. I would recommend people to stay away and save your money for far better places around the town.

Visited on a busy Sunday as a family of five.reasonable wait of around twenty minutes for meals to arrive.unfortunatly all five different meals were at best Luke warm and the carrots on the roast dinner were stone cold.

Brilliant meal everyone enjoyed the food it was all lovely & hot . Everyone was was helpful as always ! kelly & all the staff were ran of her feet ! Super job 😊

My family is staying in Devon on holiday, and we visited The Bath Arms for lunch. With 9 adults, 2 children, and 3 dogs, it wasn’t easy finding somewhere to seat us all together. However, the lady behind the bar was incredibly kind and managed to find a perfect area for us. The bar area is dog-friendly, which was a bonus for us. The staff were all welcoming, and the food was delicious, offering great value for money. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

This is exactly what one would expect from a family pub and food place, it could definitely do with more than a lick of paint in some places, and trying to keep it spotless must be a nightmare, but the staff were professional and polite and helpful. As vegetarians we often receive expensive unpleasant food as we are seen as more trouble than we are worth. I must admit this is not really my kind of place but the onion barjees and samoses were some of the best I have had, the lady who served us obviously loved her job and it showed. Anyone reading this and in the area should try them out, for what they do they are doing it well, power to you and thank you.

I come to visit exmouth and stopped in the bathhouse with friends for lunch, we was seen to by a lady named Kelly she seemed very dismissive when Serving our group, Which I just passed off as maybe She's having a bad day. But then the customers behind me She was very polite to which made me and my group feel very awkward and uncomfortable, as the meal went on we noticed this Several more times As we were in view of the bar , some customers she would be nice to others she'd come across rude, Amongst this When We was leaving My friend noticed Kelly speaking down and Very abrupt to a nother member of staff, Unfortunately , this experience has deterred me and 4 friends From returning.

It was okay. Told to order using the app which I then had to download. It’s not the easiest app to navigate. Then one of the items was not available, which the app fails to mention when you order. Food was lukewarm. Nothing special.

Visited on Monday the 28th October. We booked by phoning up and talking to their AI Charlie (because you can’t talk to real people anymore) stating there would be 7 of us plus a dog which are allowed in one side of the restaurant. Charlie said he would make a note of it. Fast forward to us arriving for our 7:30 booking, greeted by front of house to be told you should have stated you had a dog when booking in a very rude tone. We replied we did we spoke to Charlie, the reply being we don’t have a Charlie here. So they don’t know their own booking system. So we explained, anyway they seated us in the non dog side thanks to the manager ( it was basically empty) Next the same lady then told us keep your dog under the table, again very rude. On to ordering, they had run out of special of the day, no mention of this before hand, anyway out came our food burgers missing salad, cold peas with the steak and potions that even my kids said were small. I shall not be returning here and advise anyone with a dog to go in person to book.

We went to Halloween 🎃 breakfast today ! We all enjoyed it Staff are always so welcoming & fantastic. Think the to Ladies today were Debbie & Angela both dressed up making it extra fun 😁 It's our favourite Hungary horse to go to ... Booked in for Christmas breakfast with santa already too 🥰

Where do I start….we arrived in resort and went to the Bath House, as it was closest to our hotel, we arrived around 5:45 nice and early, when asked if we had booked it went down hill from there, we were made to feel awkward and a nuisance, begrudgingly offered a table, that’s where customer service ends, we ordered our meals at the bar , collected our cutlery. My meal was barely warm, my husbands just as bad, they must have been sitting around for a while. Awful is my toned down comment, I can’t even say cheap and nasty, as it wasn’t that cheap. Bar staff wearing unironed shirts….speaks volumes about this brand

We had booked a table for 7 when we arrived we we shown to 2 tables. When we asked why we were told a walk in had taken our table. Another member of our party went to the bar to complain,we were moved to a bigger table. This was sticky all over and the menus were dirty. Our meals were average for the price we paid. On leaving 2 of us noticed the cutlery tray was nearly empty but was filthy.One of the young lads had been out to check outside and stroked 3 dogs whilst out there, on coming back in went to the kitchen and returned with plates of food , NO HAND WASHING. he wasn't in there long enough.

Visited on Tuesday tea time. Venue quite busy. The no gluten menu seemed to have a good choice. Meal was ok, but nothing special staff pleasant. The venue needed to be updated/redecorated. Ladies toilets in terrible state, writing all over the doors, door lock loose. Not pleasant!

We went out for a treat I'm disabled don't get out as waiting for a hip replacements my daughter had already bought lunch so I thought we could sit to have a drink to say thank you it was busy one man in the till which looked like the food que a girl at the next till not serving I asked the man in front was this just for food he explained he had asked this girl and she sent him back in the food que I popped over asked her excuse me lovely do you have to stand in the food que if you just want drinks yes it's all one que she said me that's fine and went back and stood in the food que next a couple were being served by her so I thought maybe they had their meals at the table but as I watched 3 very rough looking lads came in from the street and were served straight away I'm still standing like an idiot in the food que which is agony for me so I went over and asked her why she was serving people off the street she didn't really give any answer said it was the que then why did she send me back to the food que where people were standing at the till deciding what to eat we were served eventually she was rude couldn't have cared less about a customer the place was filthy and toilets left a lot to be desired and the door didn't lock in this day and age when money is tight look after customers that chose to spend in your establishment DO YOUR JOB PROPERLY WONT BE BACK

Once again The Bath House delivered. We had a small problem on our last visit which was easily resolved with no fuss creating very good customer relations. Tonight we had two meals. As my wife is a vegetarian there is less choice than for meat eaters. However her choice of salmon was again was very good. All the staff worked very hard. Many thanks once again.

Got here around 5pm after biking the Exe Estuary Trail from Dawlish. The place was pretty busy and only one lady behind the bar taking a £90+ order which meant a bit of a wait. I ordered a drink and she was ok with me using a socket to charge up the bike battery. I used the app to order some food. Sirloin steak with added scampi was a good choice and it went down well. My Hungry Horse visits are a bit hit or miss but this was a good one.

Very good value for money, we had the award winning steak and ale pie's Monday to Friday is two meals £ 12.89 from the classic menu. Thumbs up to our waiter Stuart who was very helpful.

Enticed to eat there by tasty menu options. The Monday special was "Save on Grill" but none of the steak options were available by 7pm but we ordered other items which were OK. However we went back on Wednesday evening, similar time, for "Curry Night" They had run out of onion bhajis, also IPA which was the only been included in the offer. Not much of a curry without any bhajis - they did offer an extra poppadum but no alternative vegetable offered. They refused to offer an alternative beer at the same price and the only non alcoholic drink was Coke. Very disappointing as Wetherspoons offer a full range of both beers and non alcoholic options

Food was hot and staff were friendly. Great atmosphere in a beautiful location. The perfect pit stop , will be returning soon.

I came here with my partner and our dog after having a lovely day out in Exmouth enjoying the sunshine, we sat outside on table 122 and ordered some drinks from the app while we looked through the menu to see what food we would like to order. After 35 minutes our drinks had still not arrived, i queued at the bar to ask for our drinks to be told they could not make my drink due to not having the mixer, which was fine - i happily chose another. Before i could go back to the table a member of staff had asked me to go to the table next to us 123 because they had ordered 4 of the same drinks that i had previously ordered and tell them they could not make these drinks for them and ask them what else they would want instead! We did not know these people on the table next to us nor did i realised i worked for this company! I was shocked as to what had happened, I asked for a manager to be sent over to our table to explain the situation that had occurred - the manager was not helpful or apologetic at all, he went on to explain they had 2 people call in sick and could not get cover. He offered us 2 free drinks which we declined due to the wait for the first ones and the service we had just received. We wanted to order food here but we left without even finishing the drinks we had paid for. I have looked online for a general manager email but cannot find one! Utterly shocked at the service we had received, and would like for a manager to get in touch with me ASAP!

We ate here on 3 occasions in the past week and loved every meal. The staff, mostly young, were all polite and friendly and always checked that everything was ok with our meal, even on a very busy Saturday. Service was generally quick, with the exception of the aforementioned busy Saturday, but that was too be expected. I noticed another couple ordered on the app and their service was much quicker, so something worth trying if it's busy. The food was hot, nicely presented and excellent value for money. We would definitely eat here again if we were in Exmouth.

Down here working popped in for a beer after work ended up staying for food and the service from Kelly and Luke was the best ... thank you very much

When we arrived we asked if the Sunday roast was still available but they only had the turkey. I then asked for scampi and chips but was told it was unavailable as the deep fat fryer was broken and that applied to the fish and chips as well. My husband ordered the chicken with 'sauce' and chips, peas and onion rings and I ordered beef lasagne. When the lasagne arrived it was cremated by being in the microwave for too long so I asked for a replacement. By the time that arrived my husband had finished his underwhelming meal. The replacement was nearly as bad as the original but I ate it as I was hungry and it was getting late. I mentioned this to the server and he said he would tell the 'chef' but that was it by way of an apology. All in all a total waste of time and money. As mentioned in previous reviews the toilets were disgusting and should be closed as they are a health hazard.

The place is a little shabby but has a Great choice of food and very good value so we intended to eat here. But when we visited the toilets we decided not to ‘risk’ eating here given how bad the loo’s were 🤢

Do not eat here - serious sewage issues. Lovely staff , we ate here, and the food was good - HOWEVER if we had seen the state of the toilets , mens and ladies, some closed , WE WOULDN'T OF ORDERED!!! There is obviously a serious problem with the sewage ,drains- this isn't a new issue according to reviews on Google.!!! This place should be closed into this serious disgusting issue is sorted . What disgusting diseases are in the air ! People will- or probably have caught something quite nasty from this place . Such a shame as the staff were lovely and we enjoyed our food .

What an unexpected find! We called for something to eat late Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised how good the food and service was. Pete our server was amazing, he watched and read the room beautifully, he looked after all the customers, was very polite, he was very considerate of peoples needs. He is a credit and asset to the company and he wouldn’t be out of place in a mitchellin star Restaurant.

Wow wow wow ! To say I was surprised is an understatement. The staff were so inviting, friendly, and accommodating. Atmosphere was pleasant and food was hot, tasty and served promptly. Great value for money with a beautiful view of the sea. Will definitely be returning soon.

Bit of a 2 halves here today. On the whole we enjoyed. We stood waiting to be seated in a practically empty restaurant for for over 5 minutes to be told the sign to wait was for the previous day. Kelly behind the bar was great with excellent customer service and happy to make small changes to our breakfast choices. Before eating I went to one set of toilets to find both male and female out of order and the disabled one blocked. Kelly directed me to the other ones. In the ladies the lights were out in the washing area and one of the 3 loos again out of order. Tbh they all looked very grubby and in desperate need of a refurbishment. On the whole our full English breakfasts were very good apart from the bacon being stone cold. It was very quickly replaced with apology. The prices were excellent and affordable for all especially families on a budget. On the whole I would recommend but ask that Hungry Horse look at hugely improving the toilet facilities. They should also reward Kelly as she is just perfect as front of house.

Myself and my husband had dinner in the bath house on Friday night the service was brilliant .The food was beautiful. I really did love the food and the service The bathhouse has a nice and friendly feeling about it .we were suppose to go there Saturday night ..I was unwell but would loved to go

We went to The Bath House prior to a show at Exmouth Pavillion. Chose it as it is very close. We booked a table and arrived at 6pm to find a queue at the bar with one member of staff serving drinks and taking food orders. I felt a bit sorry for him as he was rushed off his feet. Eventually he asked another guy for help and I overheard him saying, 'sorry I was out the back, needed a nicotine fix'. Eventually placed the order and the starter arrived quickly. I had ciabatta with garlic mushrooms, my wife had haloumi. The portion of mushrooms was laughable, although the haloumi was not too bad. This was followed by our main, 'Classic Chicken New Yorker'. This was a small piece of anaemic chicken breast smothered in BBQ sauce, accompanied by a handful of chips. Definitely not value for money. At least the young lad who brought the meals was very polite and friendly. Before leaving, I want to the gents toilet and found that the urinals were in service but the toilet was not, it was cellotaped off with a sign stating the urinals were still working ! I'm just glad that no one used the urinals for the purpose that the toilet was designed for ! I understood that it was a legal requirement to provide toilets and clearly they did not. It seems that the ladies toilet door was broken too, with no facility to lock it. As we were leaving, my wife stated 'that was distinctly average'. I have to say that this place has a long way to go to achieve the dizzy heights of being average. I wish I had read the reviews before using this place. Poor.

Pete was our sever, he was excellent, really friendly, knew when to collect our plates and checked back on us made sure we had everything. Food was 11/10. Best burgers we have ever had. Overall amazing meal

3 people ordering 3 meals - mixed experience as some was fine & tasty, but other stuff was served only luke warm & had to be sent back to kitchen to be replaced with fresh hot food. Meant eating at different times due to the waiting. If they can get replacement food to you table nice & hot the second time then why can't they do it the first time around instead of you having to get the staff's attention to say something?! Probably just think that they'll send it out & see if anyone mentions it or not then deal with it afterwards..Overall only an average experience at this place with the food & staff just so so.. We wouldn't rush back here that's for sure

Staff hadn't a clue what was going on , we had to wait over 40 mins for the kids ice cream and brownies. Shall not be visiting again!!
