not much occuring but the beer is nice and the staff pleasant. I was the only one in so not much atmosphere but chilled out. The young guy in glasses on the bar was lovely but didn't know much about the beer really

We popped in here for a post-lunch drink with time to while away ahead of our first family get together in nearly a year. Great beers, value and service - what more can you ask for?

No atmosphere but the upstairs area is nice. Beer could be better, going for the trendy hip craft pub kind of thing but not quite hitting the mark

Great service. Seriously, really good good service - however it's a bit of a boys club for the arrogant staff from the coffee shop up the road. Avoid. Not the way to do things.

This alehouse pub has a lovely atmosphere and setting, where I enjoyed a lovely beer with friends. The selection was impressive and the decor was a perfect match. Will be returning

Wow, what a find! These chaps/girls know their beer! Such a relaxed atmosphere - I visited by myself and enjoyed the great beer selection whilst reading a book - one of many to choose from in the homely upstairs room. Staff so friendly - can’t wait for a return visit!

You always receive a warm welcome from Jamie and Connor plus the regulars. There is a good selection of real ales, which is not really my thing but they are damned popular. I'm usually a lager and stout drinker and I'm well served in that area. The pub, though small is made cosey and fun. There is an upstairs room too which is very nice. The Bastion also does the occasional collaboration with local eaterys so you can order a meal which will be delivered to you at your table. As for Covid-19, they are taking it seriously, everyone has to remain at their table and order from there, if you leave your table for any reason, you must wear a mask following the government rules. They also make sure that you sign in either via the app or their sign in book. Tables are thoroughly cleaned after every customer leaves and there are anti-bacterial hand cleaners on every table. It's a great pub and they're working hard at making it work. One of the nicest things about it, no dramatics, no fights, nobody coming in looking for trouble and Jamie and Connor are relaxed, friendly and helpful.

A nice find in Oswestry where foods pubs are rare. A good selection of craft beer with great staff who are knowledgable about what they are selling and provide a warm welcome. In terms of the beer and service it would get 5 stars but the approach to Covid restrictions were woeful. No social distancing and a track and trace system that was largely ignored. Will return when the Covid situation is under control and in the better times. For now though I will stay away.

I've now been to The Bastion several times and on each occasion its been great. There's always lots of ales to choose from and I haven't been disappointed once. If you're struggling to pick then there's knowledgeable, helpfully advice always on hand from the friendly staff. The pubs layout is simple and elegant with a very cosy atmosphere upstairs & down. If you're looking for a good ale with an environment to go with it, you won't go wrong in The Bastion!

We were staying over with friends in Oswestry. They mentioned a new place was opening up, The Bastian Alehouse, so we went in. Lovely building, modern, buzzing. Good gin, cider, wine selection and 3 hand pumped beers, the rest on tap. Will be back when we visit Oswestry.
