We recently used The Barrows Bistro to hold a Birthday Party and I was extremely impressed. I wanted somewhere a bit different to the normal Hotel or pub scenario and I was not disappointed! The service was excellent and the food was very good indeed. The surroundings made the event feel very special and I found it reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this as a venue for those special occasions

Went for Sunday lunch which was good value at £19.50 for two courses including tea / coffee. Although the Sunday lunch menu was more limited than the usual All Day menu, there was a good choice. All our meals were extremely tasty and the desserts were amazing. The staff were attentive and professional and the atmosphere in the bistro very chilled. If this is the standard for the new restaurant we will definitely be visiting.

The best breakfast I have had in Harrogate so far. I have driven past this place hundreds of times and have never thought to go in. We were visiting the garden centre and the bistro is a hidden gem with a great outdoor area. Service was fantastic. I ordered the eggs benny with avocado and it was delicious. I looking forward to visiting next time for lunch.

We visited here for lunch one Saturday. The menu looked expensive so we expected large portions and top quality. The food arrived very quickly and we were disappointed. The £12 deli sandwich my husband had was in a large roll that looked like the type I would buy at the supermarket and came with a small salad. My soup was delicious but a small bowl and one roll was nearly £8. The cake I had after was huge but quite dry. When I paid I got asked if it was all ok and I said I thought it was expensive for the quantity and the waitress just replied ‘oh’! Nice place for a coffee but let down by the food.

We were delighted to see that The Barrow was open despite the building work. The service, food and ambience excellent. The Whitby Fish Platter to share was absolutely delicious. In fact all the meals coming out looked great. Always one of the places we go to when in the Harrogate area. Can't wait to see the extended restaurant.

Visited for a light snack however despite the pricey menu, the toasted tea cake had been previously frozen and was hard. It also contained cranberry which wasnt a favourite but this wasnt mentioned on the menu so we asked for a substitute. Scones came instead but these were dry and cold. They had no doubt been frozen but usually the bistro serves them warm to offset this. The waitress was quite curt and defensive although we were polite throughout. I will not visit again.

Food a chicken taco salad very mediocre and tasteless. Smoothy lovely as always . We were very rushed from arrival and didnt get chance to relax. Would avoid lunchtimes! I have been visiting this lovely cafe once a week for the last few weeks with my mother and once with both my mother and my girlfriend. The current 50% helps a lot but even at full price its good value. We usually just sit inside on the comfy sofa,s to have a latte and a scone but last week we sat outside in a pod and had more to eat.The outdoor area is really nice and you can hire it out and indeed you can hire the whole bistro if you wish. The staff are very polite and friendly and The Owner of the entire site Graham is a total gent. The scones and Cakes are Delicious.Theres a huge free car park and toilets a big gift shop and garden centre. There was an Antique centre next door but this has recently closed but they are hoping to open some sort of food market which should be good.

The Barrows Bistro is a spacious and rather stylish cafe in the Crimple Hall Garden Centre. With ample seating inside and in the garden there is plenty of room for “social distancing” and service when we visited was excellent. The menu is also very good and has a nice selection of hot and cold meals and snacks, and the cakes look very good too! Prices are reasonable and as the cafe is also running the current Government 50% off scheme, it represents fantastic value.

Blink and you might miss this place on the Leeds road. It’s really badly sign posted/advertised. Hidden behind a garden centre. If you do persist in finding it, you won’t be disappointed. The food is fantastic and very well prepared. Some nice ideas, like a taste of soup with your sandwich. The decor is stylish and modern and the staff courteous and kind. Only disappointment on this visit was not being hungry enough to try a dessert.

Visited here in August 2019 with my family for lunch. The bistro is attached to crumple hall garden centre and has a New York loft/industrial type feel to it. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, we chose to sit inside due to poor weather. Table service is available (including outside) and the staff are really friendly. We ordered the chicken taco salad, fishcake (gf) and fish butty sandwich, a pint of black sheep and two ice coffees. There are also other gluten free options available. The food was absolutely delicious and I was surprised how tasty the gluten free fishcake was. Everything was beautifully presented. The venue can be rented for private hire and is open in the evenings - there are some tribute acts running throughout 2019.Great service, delicious food, nice atmosphere and reasonable prices, 100% must if passing by!

The barrowsThe Interior looks like a New York industrial apartment : striped out walls multi tiled windows high up and pipes running the whole length of the restaurant. I liked the tables and chairs with tables for two, four or larger groups. Service today seems to of improved compared to previous visits. They are foreign waitresses, attentive and smile a lot; in the past I’ve found the Barrows more “well, ...we’ll see what we can do!” Menu included burgers, salad, info on vegan gf, smaller plates and a kids menu.Drinks a small collection of 1/2 pint bottles lagers beer stout cider and wines.Teas and coffees cakes to follow. It's worth visiting the Barrows you spend some time wondering around the garden centre art gallery and if you go through the cafe out the back turn left you get into the Brick-a-Brac store next door. An Alladins cave of second hand stuff. Further on you come to the interior decorators. Access is easy for all including those with wheelchairs and buggys. Toilets are good with a disabled one too

We called in for something to eat just after 11.30 midweek. The lunch menu isnt served untill 12.00 so we ordered from the small plates menu. Not much choice really, the fishcakes sounded the best option but I decided not to have them incase they contained salmon which I dont like. My other half chose them and yes they did contain salmon. So I had the Avocado smash, which was nice enough but served on rock hard, toasted/griddled ciabatta, impossible to eat. A softer bread roll would be so much more palatable and compliment the toppings better. The decor is nice and the staff polite but the food is slightly disappointing.

Scatty, disorganised staff providing mediocre service, poor quality food and inflated prices. The staff were all polite, but it just seemed a bit ridiculous as nobody seemed to understand what they were doing. Stayed here on our way home to the West Country we stay almost every year. And this year was just as good as previous years. This year we stayed in house opposite the room I believe was called Braxton? It had a shower over the bath and a nice sized bathroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable, there ware extra pillows/blankets etc in a wardrobe if needed. There was kettle and cafetière with coffee bags. The breakfast the next morning was all cooked to order and great poached eggs. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying there again next year. :-)))))

Gluten free review for the cafe: I visited the Druid’s Temple today and went to the cafe for lunch afterwards. Gluten free cakes and sandwiches were available. I had an ultimate hot chocolate and a trout and cream cheese sandwich (GF bread), and I’m sad to say that neither were very flavourful. The hot chocolate was weak and watery, and the sandwich was very dry. It’s a shame because the setting is so beautiful! A word to cross contamination, I have reacted to the food that I had, so I suspect that the chopping board used for my sandwich may not have been cleaned down before preparing my food (or similar). There was also a gluten free chocolate brownie which was in the same cabinet next to gluten containing cakes, with tongs that customers could use to select their own cakes, but no separate gluten free pair. If anyone from the cafe happens to read this, from coeliacs and gluten free people everywhere please could you make sure that cross contamination risk is limited through simple measures such as cleaning down a surface before making gluten free food (we don’t mind waiting a bit longer for piece of mind!), and that GF cakes and sweet treats are kept separate and using separate tongs etc? When we find places that don’t gluten us we share it heavily in the community!
