We stopped here on our way to Birmingham and had lunch. Such a good choice of meals on the menu and reasonably priced. The American lady behind the counter greeted us with a huge smile and was so friendly. We had a great lunch and it was reasonably priced- the Russian Caravan tea was superb as well. It’s run by a lot of church volunteers but you don’t need to be religious to enjoy this lovely cafe!

I have been going to the Barns Cafe since it opened some years ago. The barn dates back to the Middle Ages and has been faithfully restored by the congregation and friends of Christ Church (which is next door) after many decades of neglect. It's a warm and friendly place which delivers consistently excellent coffee, teas, soups, sandwiches and panini (and more!). It's a place to meet friends or just chill out. You can't go wrong or find a nicer place in the locality.

This cafe is set in an ancient barn that was also a church and some buildings still are. It is run by volunteers and does a truly excellent flat white. The hot chocolate is also fantastic, get it with all the trimmings! They put malteasers on top! The setting is absolutely beautiful and the history and ethic of it is wonderful. The cakes are delicious. Especially the caramel and chocolate shortcake. Just give yourself lots of time as they can be busy here meaning it can be loud and they might take a bit of time to get you your delicious order. It has loads of board games and there are lots of clubs too such as knitting and natter, clubs for people with disabilities (I think) or who like oragami, board games and quilting. It is a great community cafe that welcomes anyone and doesn't judge. It is run by the church but nothing is imposed, you wouldn't necessarily know it apart from the wonderful feel of it and the prayer box you can pop prayer requests into.

I really love this place, cosy and friendly with a decent range of food and drinks given the limited kitchen space. The coffee is good and the food reasonable. One of the major attractions is that there isn’t much else in this part of Abingdon and it’s a real community hub. Loads of free parking, near the bus stop, served by kindly volunteers in a welcoming atmosphere. I do regret that they don’t seem able to cater for coeliacs at the moment, but hopefully they’ll find a way round this soon

It took several attempts to find this place open as it closes Mondays etc.Its attached to A Church Compound/Car Park which on one wall has the most amazing piece of grafffittiproclaiming "Jesus is Lord"A Spray Paint Mural some 50'long.Visible if car park is not full. The entrance has wonderful real bamboo waxy canes growing in a big pot.So far so good.Inside it is small even with the upstairs balcony of this converted old barn. Its not particularly churchy more general low income community.Filled with mothers at high noon chattering loudly non stop two to the dozen.Females outnumbered males by about 15 : 1.The paultry offerings on display are just a few tins of common fizzy drink that one could buy in any supermarket probably cheaper. The cakes, unsold were just bought in looking pretty horrible affairs like greasy looking carrot cakes, oily and heavy in plastic cake covers obviously supplied to many other places whoiesale. This was very unimaginative and dissappointing though the clientele didnt seem too aware of the low standard in my opinion. Most people seemed to be there for the sitting around blethering more than anything.Quite unimpressed I returned to work.

This cafe is quite local to us so we like to walk there with our grandchildren. There isn't a lot of space for a pushchair but we have always managed to find a seat. The coffee is really nice and they do 'kiddie mocha chino' in small cups for children. The facilities are good and have everything you need. There are extra seats upstairs and outside when the weather is warmer there is a nice sun trap. The cakes on sale look delicious but as I am on a diet have resisted the temptation. The staff work very hard and the wait for the coffee to arrive can be a bit lengthy as they get very busy at certain times.

The food is always top notch, made with fresh looking ingredients. It's always busy when we walk in, often finding it hard to find a seat. The customer service can sometimes vary from disorganised and disinterested to absolutely engaged and helpful. I believe this is probably a product of the volunteer workforce rather than anything more profound. Overall though, a great place to take kids for a spot of lunch.

I first discovered this cosy cafe on my way home from collecting my daughter from nursery. It was raining, windy and we were just plain fed up. This Mummy required coffee. Stat.I was welcomed warmly, my daughter was greeted cheerfully and shown a stack of games and books and after I ordered my coffee, I was told to take a seat and they would bring my drink over. I noticed that there were not many free tables, most people were eating and I noticed my neighbouring table tucking into soup that smelled divine. This is a lovely little cafe that my daughter now begs me to go into any time we pass. Slightly on the outskirts of Abingdon town centre, this local favourite is a great place to grab a light lunch or coffee with friends. The staff are really friendly and the set up of the place means that on the balconies you can find some more personal space, perhaps for more private conversations with friends or a work meeting. The food and drink aren't overpriced either and the place is always buzzing with people from all walks of life. It definitely feels like the heart of the community.

had a really nice experience at the barn cafe. the restaurant is a very nicely presented barn conversion. the seating is a bit crowded (tables small and close together), but everything looks very nice. there are two upper areas on each side with loungey couches and low tables. lots of family, older patrons, and children/babies, its a very welcoming environment. there are board games and childrens books on both floors; various activities for almost every day are advertised on the blackboard; this is a very social place.the food is small bites, sandwiches are very large and the bread is awesome. in the summer they have salads, and in the winters its soup. overall its nothing too special, better than say costa, but its fairly priced and clean food.service is great, you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. everyone is very nice. its volunteer run, so it can be a bit slow to get your coffee or sandwich, but this isnt really the place that you go for a quick meal, its a place to relax and chat. we will definitely be back =)

Visited here for the first time last week. The cafe is run by a full time manager but otherwise staffed by willing volunteers. You would never know this as the service is very professional. I have a restricted starch-free diet and normally opt for salad at lunchtime. There were no main course salads on offer so I opted for the gluten free mushroom soup. It was gorgeous! As I can't eat bread of any type, I accompanied it with a small, very reasonably priced £1.00 side salad. It was a lunchtime work related meeting so the free wifi was an added bonus. The medieval barns have been beautifully restored. The downstairs was busy , mostly with young mothers and toddlers but it was neither noisy nor overcrowded. On my next visit, I'm going to try out the galleries which look to be fitted out with comfy chairs.
