Great staff and lovely food. Nothing was too much trouble. Disables entry was on the main road and the barmaid happily opened it for us. The disabled toilet wasn't big enough for the wheelchair but then most pubs are the same. Luckily my son could wait. Otherwise it was a brilliant afternoon.

We cane here with friends and ate off the pub grub menu, good value at £5 per course. We all had one course which everyone finished! They even make smaller portions for kids off the main menu!

Having been a regular in The Barleycorn around 15 years ago, I've been coming back to it again more and more recently - it's a great pub with great customers who enjoy a bit of banter and the staff are very welcoming with plenty of chat too. They've got a fantastic restaurant which I've eaten in several times - they regularly change the menu and I've never been disappointed with either the quality or the value. I noticed when I was last in at the weekend that they've got a fantastic Valentines night package with a three course meal and wine for two, (the menu looks amazing!!!) and wine for two plus tickets to see four comedians in their function suite upstairs for just under £70! I can't think of anywhere else you'd get a deal like that on your doorstep. In addition to the restaurant they also have a bar food menu and the last time I was in I thought I'd give this a bash - the menu is different from the restaurant and given the even greater value, I suppose I was expecting it to be a little more 'basic' but I couldn't have been more wrong! I just had the two courses from a menu that offers some great options - I had home made scotch broth and bread and steak ciabatta and chunky chips. After the fantastic, but very filling soup, I was thinking I'd maybe overstretched myself but the main was so delicious that I forced myself to eat every last bit - this is no mean feat for me as I'm a bit of a picker when it comes to food sometimes. With live entertainment and karaoke every weekend this really is a cracker of a pub where the customer is everything - how about this for an example - I'd happened to mention my love of chip shop pickled onions and the next time I was in there was a jar waiting for me behind the bar to take away!!!! So whether you're after good food, good chat, a bit of entertainment or all of the above - The Barleycorn is the best bar none!

On my brothers birthday the family felt it was time to support our local friendly pub. With its friendly and attentive staff, not to mention the fab newly refurbished diner, and first class chef, who politely took the time to join us after our lovely meal, just to thank us for our booking. Where else would you get that in Hamilton ?? HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRUV XXX Catherine O'Neill.

I'd peviously been to The Barleycorn for food before, shortly after it opened, and was very surprised at the quality and quantity of the food for the price I paid. Originally I went for the 3 course set menu, which was about £12 or £13, if I remember correctly, and assumed that the portions would be slightly smaller than the 'normal' a la carte menu.... wrong!! I was stuffed after having 3 great courses - prawn cocktail, steak pie, and a pudding (I think I just went for ice cream). Anyway, I went back again yesterday just to see if it had just been a 'new opening' thing and to see if the food was still as good - I wasn't disappointed. I only had the 2 courses from the main menu. Ham and cheese topped mushrooms to start with followed by the burger and chips. again, really tasty, and all freshly made to order. Not for the first time either I was struggling to finish the generous portions put before me. I did notice that the menu's had changed slightly from my first visit, and it's always good to see places paying attention to what's good and what's not and changing things to suit. Too many places just offer the same old stuff without ever 'mixing it up' a bit. Also, there was now a snacks, bar snacks menu and all their food is available to order and takeaway as well. I'd higly reccommend The Barleycorn for food and drinks, whether heading out shopping, or coming back home, or even as a treat to save cooking the dinner yourself. I'll definitely be back... (Pssssst, lads... there's also a bar right next to the restaurant so make sure you keep the ladies glass filled with a nice drink and you get a night in the boozer too; 2 birds, one stone... result!!!)

Went here with my husband for lunch but was very disappointed. Firstly the place was absolutely freezing, we couldn't bear to take our coats off. We chose a table and reviewed the menu. We both felt there was very little choice especially chicken dishes which are a favourite of ours. The prices were a bit steep for what is basically a pub lunch. On reflection we decided not to order.

Just been for an afternoon lunch and was very impressed with the service and the new dining layout. Food was delicious and well presented, and staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Would recommend people to try out their new food menu and will definitely return :)

We visited the newly launched restaurant and enjoyed it so much we went back again a few days later! The area is beautifully decorated and the food was amazing - really fresh & well presented with a generous portion size. Absolutely delicious! Service was friendly and fast, we felt very well attended to on both visits. The prices are very very reasonable... our party of four consumed 2 bottles of wine and each had 2 courses and our bill totalled £80! Having been to The Barleycorn several times before, we've always found it to be a friendly and comfortable place. The atmosphere is always warm & welcoming and there's usually entertainment on in the bar at the weekend. The pints are clean and fresh and there's a good selection of alcohol (and soft drinks!) on offer! The function room upstairs was refurbished last year sometime and is really lovely. Ideal for smaller/medium sized functions as think it only holds approx 100 people. Really couldn't recommend highly enough! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

This function room is fairly large so is ideal for a large party. The decor is fairly fresh as it has been recently refurbished. The dance floor is a little on the small side compared with the size of the room but is probably large enough for most purposes. The actual bar is large and there is plenty of space to set up a band or disco and buffet. The bar downstairs tends to be a bit quiet and a bit of an " old man's pub". The main problems with the function room is a lack of parking, as there is no real car park; and noise prevention issues, as it is next to private houses. The food was in the form of a buffet and was very good.

Second visit here & was another amazing meal. We had the fish & chips, ‘boring’ burger & chips, maple & garlic siracha chicken gyros & southern poutine loaded fries. Everything was cooked well, tasted amazing, well presented & we didn’t wait long for food to arrive. Service was excellent, waitresses are lovely. Didn’t have any alcohol this time but cocktail menu looks amazing! Restaurant is really well decorated with lots of unique features & there was a great, buzzing atmosphere. Forgot to get photos of the food, was too excited to eat it!

So 1st and last time visitor ! Was recommended to me so made a trip for lunch. Ordered soup which both came luke warm so requested that they be warmed up to eating temperature. Take 2 on return one was slightly warmer the other still luke warm. As am not one for take 3 spoke with staff to ask if I could pay as decided to go elsewhere, no charge (not eaten) but the soup "apparently" take a while to heat !! Offered to heat "again" but thought after 2 attempts, not. It should be good to go from the off otherwise why serve cool soup. A less than satisfactory experience and to be honest not a great ambiance, my wife thought seating was uncomfortable. Sorry but that's how we found the place 😐
