Great pub, great beer, great location!

Sunday lunch - disappointing: giant portions don't make up for cold plates and food, very slow service and really poor roast potatoes. The pub is still lovely as always but they clearly can't cope with full Sunday capacity as staff seemed quite stressed and a little curt consequently. I'm sure it's more agreeable at other times.

One of my favourite pubs in the area. Great beer garden, with views of the river Wey, and neighbouring fields. Out front you can enjoy a pint and watch the local cricket team play.

We went to visit the Barley Mow after an absence of a few months, and we had a fantastic meal at such a wonderful setting next the River Wey. The roast beef, chicken supreme and nut roast were all delicious, and of course, the cauliflower broccoli cheese! It was such a pleasure having the Sunday Roast menu back on again. There was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were great - they were equally happy to be able to serve roasts again. Wine and beer very good, too. Thanks Stuart and team.

Popped in for a light lunch. Lovely welcome, great food and atmosphere. Proper pub. We will be back to try the Sunday roast.

Amazing home cooked food! A traditional pub with fantastic service and lots of charm. Dog friendly and steeped in history. Highly recommend this pub and can't wait to go back.

Great country pub on the green. Spacious rear garden away from cricket balls (match was in progress). Good drink and food options at reasonable prices.

From pub side had diet coke flat & syrupie didn't complain as man was complaining about flat bier so thought maybe a problem with pumps. After walk went to cafe lovely hot cappuccino. Dogs welcome. Pizzas freshly cooked no gluten free and couldn't see any gluten free cakes or cookies very busy so didnt ask. My husband had an ordinary cookie he said lovely. No dog ice cream.

Brilliantly situated between the river and the Green, this pub is full character inside and out. The menu is mainly pub classics with some interesting twists - tasty and well presented. The staff were friendly and service was good.

Love this place whether for coffee after a Sunday bike ride, amazing pizza on an evening or just great place to have a beer. Beautiful setting.

Lovely place, very pretty surroundings

Took 7 year old grandson..loved the train and intractice places. Took out a yearly subscription. Will drop in loads.

After a long walk we settled down for a pint in the garden. Fantastic beer, lovely friendly staff and beautiful setting by the river. An extensive menu with lots of choice including some fab classic however we chose a pizza from the wood fired Pizza Hut in the same garden which was fabulous.

We went in to this quite little pub and I must say after seeing the reviews I was very disappointed. The bar staff was extremely rude to my partner, all she did was ask what hot drinks they served and they said tea or coffee abruptly when she asked if they did a lattee they said well thst is a coffee and when she asked if they do iced coffees they said next door might but in a very condescending manner. Managed to get my coke wrong although I do think the syrup needs changing as it is very flat even after they gave me a fresh one.

Delightful traditional english pub on the village green. Good beers, excellent food and loads of friendly staff. Car park nearby. Bring the dog and kids. If ever there were an appropriate to use the word "quintessential" the Barley Mow is it!

It was a beautiful summer's evening and a group of 6 of us sat outside. We had starters, mains and 2 people ordered sides of chips. Sadly they didn't arrive until tge meal was nearly over, despite being told they were 'on the way'. I was also charged twice for a drink but that was remedied straight away. The pub was very busy.

Had a business lunch here back in July last year and was very impressed by the food, service and atmosphere. Would definitely return again in the future.

Great food. The manager takes time to make you very comfortable. He went to get brollies and linked few tables outdoors to accommodate our group.

12.30 bank holiday Monday and already stopped taking orders....shame!! Bad planning.....so never got to try food!!

Great food Had 2 burgers chips and salad. Massive portion well worth the money and well tasty Only thing annoying was the service charge that was on the bill as we only got the food delivered to the table as we ordered at the bar and also got are drinks at the same time No problem with tips but when it’s charged without warning it’s considered a stealth charge

Our first visit to this amazing place. Picture perfect location facing the village green and next to medieval bridge over the river. Wonderful bygone atmosphere inside and friendly welcoming staff. Without doubt the best meal out we've had in years, easy beating some upmarket / over priced eateries we've tried. Couldn't help but stare at everyone else's meals, all looked amazing. Our meals arrived incredibly quickly and after the first mouthful we both said "Wow" Definitely going to return regularly.

Great food nice staff good value for money

The Barley Mow is the epitome of an amazing village pub. Great food, wonderful staff, and lots of added social events. We moved to the village recently and now spend lots of time there with lovely people. They are making huge efforts to provide an exciting offering of varied food options. Pub staples, absolutely fantastic pizzas, an outdoor burger shack and an outdoor bar. As hospitality is suffering, Emma and Stuart are facing the challenges head on and provide a great welcome. Every time you walk in to the pub they are all there to serve with a smile. Their young team are engaging and hard working. Well done to you all.

A lovely character village pub on the green. I had the chili con carne which was good though I suspect it had been reheated as the meat was dry. My friend had the Welsh chicken dish which she enjoyed. A cosy pub with a lovely ambience. Service was good. Book in advance if you want any chance of dining here.

Just had a fantastic lunch at The Barley Mow. The new outdoor Riverside bar and grill is great. Had an awesome burger and Lily was fantastic, so helpful and fun. Great nails as well! Highly recommend

The best roast I’ve had in a long time. Especially loved the huge portion of broccoli and cauliflower cheese as a side! Very busy but worth it as the food was just so good.

A truely lovely English pub with great food and friendly heart warming staff who went above and beyond. The young waiter/bar man and landlady totally impressed us with their cheer, generosity and good nature. Highly recommend the flame grilled burgers, pies and Welsh Chicken but believe all dishes are just as delicious. Will return as holds a special place in our heart. X

Lovely place and made my day when the young man behind the bar gave me his Guinness t-shirt. Am visiting from Denmark and Guinness has a special meaning to me from my past. Thank you for making the visit memorable to me and my family❤️ Really nice food and good service.

I just wanted to share my thoughts on this fantastic pub. If you're ever in the area, you must check it out! The food is out of this world, and the staff are some of the friendliest folks you'll ever meet. Seriously, it's also an authentic Italian outdoor pizzeria. It's become a weekly tradition for me and my wife. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Great draft beers on tap and a go-to for a dinner out for us

Popped in on Friday late afternoon for a drink as we were in the area. Friendly, welcoming staff for us and our young pup. A great British pub that hasn't changed for the worse. The Harveys Best was lovely.

Fab pub nestled I. The Surrey hills!

I went on a 12 mile hike and was looking forward to settling at the Barley Mow at the end for a drink and lunch. Unfortunately, there was no bar food available on a Sunday, unless it had been pre booked. I was there at midday and there was no one inside, and only a couple out in the garden. Staff did offer my dog a couple of dog treats though, which was nice. And they were friendly and apologetic. So, if you're looking for an impromptu visit and something to eat, you'll be better off heading elsewhere

Nothing beats the location, cricket green, river, fields at the back. Kid friendly and though we just had drinks we'll be back for pizza very soon. Amazing walking and cycling all around Tilford. On a sunny evening there's nowhere better. 😍

Lovely location. Garden with river , cafe, and pizza oven plus food in the oldie pub. Across the road, a large green and another stretch of the river you can sit by.

Lovely place for a drink in an idyllic setting

Went with friends so that helped make it ok. Unfortunately because we had to sit outside because we'd come with dogs we could only have pizza, which were ok but would've been nice to have had a wider choice

The Barley Mow is perfectly sited on a small village cricket green and has a garden backing onto the river. We went at about 1210, so it was early. We were greeted by a nice Spanish lady who spoke little English but endeavoured to help. After 5 min a bar maid arrived but unfortunately the tills seemed to be malfunctioning (which I gather was no surprise to them), so it took q0 min or more to place a simple order. All the staff were lovely. The food though was clearly out of a packet and relatively flavourless and presented in similar style. I accept that our pubs are going through tough times, but I eat out at quite a few and this was definitely below par on quality whilst being average on price.

What a lovely little pub! Situated on the end of the large cricket green, The Barley Mow is a gem in the crown of Tilford. I went today for drinks and food with friends. Staff were very friendly, and service was excellent. The pizza was great! Handmade, fired in a pizza oven and with that perfectly crispy crust, I really recommend visitors to the pubs try it. The pub garden, backing onto the River Wey, is a perfect setting for a relaxed summer evening. Thank you for your hospitality!

Another 5 star from me. A great location on the 'River Weys' , where the North and South Rivers meet before joing the Thames. But it's all about the lovely Cricket green here. On a sunny day watching a quintessential English game of village Cricket and having a real ale. Lovely Pizza oven outside too. Building will need some external improvements in the not too distant future.

A great pub located in Tilford green. Lovely location for summer while watching a local cricket game and a stream running right next to it. The pub staff is very friendly and the locals are awesome.

Food was not good, no children's menu. Unwelcoming. Won’t be going back.

Excellent vegetarian Sunday lunch - nut roast - with lashings of veg and a yorkshire pud for a very reasonable price. 'Coach House' extension dining area is a bit plain but was perfect for our large walking group

A very excellent pie and well-kept pint for lunch on a winter Saturday. Just the job! Friendly place, not too busy but full enough to give a great atmosphere.

I had a table without space and very uncomfortable. The waitress never show me the menu, I wait for about 30 mins with my beer. It was overcrowded and there wasn't enough waitress or service persons to help. I had to ask for the menu when the bartender told me that it wasn't enough food for all the restaurant, so we had to leave the place.

Perfect pit stop during a day out walking. Very reasonable prices for drinks too

A great spot and a very quintessentialy English pub by the village green. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Decent food and what looked like some very good pizzas from their own out door oven. Definitely worth a stop.

What can I say, fantastic service, fantastic food and very reasonably priced. They were really accomadating as we had a 6 month old lab that was very excited, but they sat us in the corner where she was away from People and we had an excellent 3 course meal We will definitely return xxxxx
