Lovely chippy! Great fresh fish and chips. Had a lunch meal and it was perfect. Looking forward to going again soon.

We enjoy a ptn of fish and chips, and will travel for the best, sadly tonights fish was poor, cod was over cooked and rather dry, the batter didn't look very appealing. I wondered if it had been reheated. Chips not too bad. We always give places a second chance, but will be checking reviews to see if this was just a one off or a more regular occurrence 🙃

This is probably the best food restaurant if you want the best fish and chips in your local town. the food is very fresh and quickly made! I absolutely loved it when I first tried, and the service is so kind and friendly, this restaurant obviously deserves 5 stars.

We won’t be returning- the chips were not cooked well some still raw, the pie was warmed in a microwave so pastry turned hard. Portion size was also not in line with other local chippy’s.

Unfortunately we won’t be returning after half our group got food poisoning. We ordered for a family of 4, half of us had cod and the other sausages. Lovely chips but the two that had the cod had severe sickness afterwards. On collection I felt a little sorry for a member of staff, another employee (possibly the owner) was rude to her. Everyone has a bad day I guess… but it’s also the reason we didn’t call in to complain. (Friendly to customers though)

All of the Fish and Chips cooked to order. I had a regular portion which was an average in size, fish had a crisp batter and the chips tasted good. A good fish and chip shop for the area at a fair price.

Nipped in while in the area for a night. Great little local chippy, really friendly staff, and the food was delicious. Haddock was hefty and freshly cooked to perfection with a healthy portion of perfect chips. A breath of fresh air for a northerner living in London and deprived of proper chippies. We also got some chicken strips on the side which was a rogue shout but they were also brilliant. Would highly recommend this place.

I enjoyed my fish and chips yesterday. It was my first time here visiting the area and especially the friendly welcoming service of the staff was very pleasant

Disgraceful. Fish and chips were awful. Fish was way too small for a regular and mainly batter. Dry like it was cooked twice. Very poor taste. Very disappointing and I won’t be returning.

Excellent gluten free fish & chips. The best in the area.

Such a shame, the large cod was inedible, almost like it's been twice cooked, so dry, and the batter almost needed a hammer to it. The medium cod looked and tasted like something from the frozen section in Iceland. Chicken nuggets, were they even chicken? My son loves a chicken burger, but that was also hard and inedible. The one star though, that's for the chips, although a large portion is more like a regular, they were quite nice. We won't be revisiting unfortunately

Absolutely fantastic shop. Everything cooked fresh in front your eyes. A lovely and friendly chap served me, explaining the price and length of time for the wait. Great value in my opinion. What else would you want?

Not bad but nothing special. Main gripe is the small portion size, there was nothing large about my fish or chips, first time I've had a chippy and not been full afterwards. That chips are decent but my cod was on the overdone side, with batter was more rubbery than fluffy/crispy.

The best fish ever..... from fish strips to fish portions. Only just moved down here and happy to have such a great fish and chip shop so close! (Being from Liverpool, we do like good fish and chips!!!). Thank you for the great food and the even better service!!!

Friendly service and good tucka well presented. They even battered crab sticks for us when we took them along. Can't ask for better than that.

I really hate leaving bad reviews but we just had 3 fish and chips and the 'fish' was pretty well inedible. I had a large cod and the only difference between the regular one (which my friend had) and the large was the amount of batter. I actually struggled to find any fish in mine in fact and the batter was really tough.. we ended up throwing it in the bin.. sorry!

Very busy and also the most expensive I've purchased. Food is of good quality though. Would probably use again in the future.

Got a cod and chips the cod was cooked to a crisp it looked disgusting and was harder than my grandads old slippers.

Tiny piece of tough cod, watery mushy peas and waited twice as long as they said.

Arrived at 8.35 to place order, only to be told closed at 8.30pm despite published 9.00pm closing. Very, very dissapointing. Service??

Quality was fantastic during 2020 and early 2021, but unfortunately our last two meals in August have been very poor, being stale and tasteless.

Our local chippy! And the best chippy we have been to by far! Since moving to Hindhead, Hindhead friars has been our go to when we can’t be bothered to cook! Literally a 2 minute walk, very quick service generally and the owners take the time in knowing the regular customers. I love the fish bites and chips! The chips are always cooked to perfection and will definitely be the reason for any weight gained over lockdown 😅

To summarise the actual "Click and Collect" service provided: you make the order on the phone and are given an allocated time, once you arrive, you queue up with people that are window shopping, when you reach the front of the queue, you wait for your order to be prepared. Edit: Star Rating changed from 1 to 3 stars after a successful delivery order, for some great tasting food.

Beware, its not just fish and chips on the menu! I've heard that the Friar's Tucked a jumbo sausage about his person!

Staff not very interactive but food we ordered made up for that. Chips tastey and the battered cod was fantastic - the best we've had and we've tried quite a few chip shops over the past few months.

Sadly over the two latest visits in a month. The size of regular cod has reduced in size, and the last visit over cooked. Try somewhere else.

The fish was grease and expensive but thay were busy .

Very expensive and doesnt reflect the quality. Very poor wouldnt go there again! Brief example £7 for large cod and £1.30 for a can of drink. Tip for the owner - if you want to charge so much you must up your game.

There is quite a good selection on the menu here. Cooking time is not too long. Parking is available outside and there is window seating for while you wait. Staff are friendly and make you feel welcome.

Really good chips, chips are fried in separate oil to the fish, they are good about allergens and very pleasant. Always enjoy the chip shop experience when I go I recommend to all! 😊
