The Barley Mow in East Lindsey

The four of us went for Sunday dinner whilst on holiday; one of the best Sunday dinners we’ve had out! The quality was superb, well cooked and presented and the quantities just right. Would highly recommend

Took my parents for Sunday lunch. It was busy. Staff were friendly and polite. The menu is extensive and the roasts are not just your standard meat and veg. I had the chicken breast wrapped in pancetta with apricot stuffing. The chicken was tender and moist. The stuffing was lovely but I would have like a little more of it. The Yorkshire pudding was excellent if you prefer your pudding not to crispy. Very nice cauliflower cheese but the stork of it needed more cooking. The beef was very tender but ask for a steak knife as the normal knives just pull it apart. We had extra gravy and it was very good.

We were staying locally and were recomended to go to the Barley Mow. Very nice greeting and I have to say that both my wife and I had one of the best meals out, for some time. Would not hesitate to go back or recomend.

Another amazing Sunday dinner at The Mow. I’ve lost count how many times we’d have been over the years and the quality of the food and service has never been anything but 10/10. The Barley Mow is unbeatable - totally spoilt having this as the local because it sets the standard so high for when we go elsewhere!! The food is so fresh and delicious. Great value for such high quality food. I had the belly pork with plenty of veg - I didn’t get chance to get a picture of that as was too eager to tuck in!! Then we finished off the meal sharing the cookie dough and the chocolate and raspberry tart - definitely recommend if you have room. Thank you as always ‘Team BM’. We already can’t wait to come again!

Been a couple of times now, Expensive compared to other restaurants. Food over rated. Pub looks nice but spoilt by the old Industrial estate next door !! Came out to find black dust all over the car.

Another excellent night out at the Barley Mow. The normal warm welcome and excellent service from start to finish from the friendly and efficient staff. Food as ever superb. 10 out of 10 as always.

We had a fantastic meal at the Barley Mow, Mushrooms for starters, Belly Pork and Fillet Steak both cooked to perfection follwed by Bannana Split with the best walnut ice cream I have ever tasted. we will certainly return on our next holiday

This restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Quiet, polite service. My steak and ale pie had that individually-made look and tasted sublime. Nice selection of vegetables too. Will definitely be back - especially as I need to try the treacle sponge

Well!!! My partner and me were able to get a table at this pub! The food is amazing! We both had fish and chips, best we have had for donkeys years, the taste of the fish and the batter was perfect, I was then a piggy and had the coffee creme brûlée! Again absolutely divine! Complements to the chef, very sad to be going home as would have loved to work my way through their menu xx

Been to the Barley Mow for Sunday lunch and I was super Impressed.The owner Jayne is so friendly and helpful and all the staff go above and beyond every time we visit.This has become our regular now as after 10 vists or more Jayne and her team get it spot on everytime and food is so yummy and the new Covid-19 procedures always make us feel safe.First class place highly recommended

We have actually been twice since the end of lockdown. The first time we had belly pork and salmon. The second time we had ribs and fish pie. Sweets were lemon cheese cake and Eton mess.The arrangements to deal with Covid were very good. Plenty of room, booking is essential and proper protocols are followed including contact details. Everybody was extremely friendly and helpful and the service was spot on. However, the real jewel in the crown of this restaurant is, as you would hope, the food. The food is superb. Every single element was absolutely right. Full of flavour and perfectly cooked. Faultless. Both occasions were amongst the best meals I have had in years. Its difficult to praise them too highly.I would recommend the Barley Mow to anyone in a heartbeat. Oh, and the total bill for four people each time was of the order of £70, including drinks. For a meal of this quality it was a total bargain.

This has become my favourite restaurant to go to, never disappointed with food or service atmosphere always excellent, only let down for me is too many people know about it, we have to book a table, I would like to keep for myself as my little next secret lol

Went to the Barley Mow for Sunday dinner with the family and was mind blown with how incredibly tasty the food was and very generous portion sizes. The food was exceptional with mouth watering flavours. The sticky toffee pudding was the best I've ever had! The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Booked via email in advance, arrived At 12 noon as advised, greeted at the back entrance door by a member of staff who recorded our personal details, asked if we were in good health, then took a digital temperature reading which was also recorded. We were asked to use the hand sanitizer all before being allowed to enter. Then taken to our table by a member of staff, all of which were wearing face shields. Once sat at our table our drinks order was taken & menu provided, we were asked if we had any food allergies. Drinks arrived & order taken. All tables are safely distanced apart. Food served was as pre Covid standard...excellent. We were asked several times during our meal if everything was Ok & if we needed anything, which was attentive & prevented the need to leave our table. The staff have put in & implement a great amount of effort to comply with current Covid regulations, we will be returning next Sunday for lunch again & felt safe & comfortable whilst there. A very big thank you to all the staff.

Our first visit back since lockdown. Great social distancing measures in place. Greeted at the door and shown to a table in the garden to have drinks in the sun. Temperature and details taken . We had our orders taken in the garden and shortly after shown to our table. I don’t know what else to say about the food. Absolutely fantastic in every way. My third visit to the Barley Mow and the first for Sunday dinner, wow, we couldn’t have asked for anything better! I had the belly pork which was so tender and yet perfectly crisp, we also had chicken, topside of beef and a children’s portion of chicken, everything was cooked perfectly and we loved that all the veg came separately so we could actually choose what we wanted! We were absolutely stuffed but had to make room for dessert, their creme brûlée is the best I’ve ever had!Nothing is ever too much at the Barley Mow and I would genuinely drive all the way from Nottingham just to enjoy the treats, 5*!!

This was our first visit to the Barley Mow after looking for somewhere nice to have a family meal for my 40th birthday. on arrival we were greeted by a lovely polite and attentive lady who took our drinks order and gave us menus to look at. We had booked a table in advance and arrived early so we enjoyed a drink in the garden before being seated at our table indoors. As we are still in the Covid-19 pandemic, the staff were wearing protective face shields, there was hand sanitiser available and social distancing respected. We had an amazing meal, couldn't fault it. My husband had patè, Chicken in a mushroom sauce with fresh vegetables for main and sticky toffee and pear pudding for dessert. I had cheesy garlic bread which was the best garlic bread I've ever had, then I had fillet steak for my main which was mouth wateringly delicious and so tasty and for dessert i had biscoff cheesecake which was divine! The staff even added a strawberry and a lit candle for my birthday! Our children were happy too, they shared a bowl of cheesy nachos for starter, my son then had Boston sausages with chips, peas and bread and butter followed by a Christmas ice cream snowman that he found hilarious being in July but loved it and ate every bit. Our daughter had fish chips, peas and bread and butter followed by the biscoff cheesecake which she also thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were very attentive and made sure we had everything we wanted and were happy. We had an amazing evening and it was the perfect end to my birthday celebrations. We highly recommend the Barley Mow and will definitely return!

Ordered the Father’s Day picnic online as we love going there but obviously can’t at the moment so this was perfect to be able to have Jayne’s amazing food at home. We were not disappointed. I ordered it for 3 and there was plenty for all. In fact we are saving the desserts for tomorrow. The attention to detail like the napkins and butter portions were lovely. Clearly a lot of hard work went into making this happen and we very much appreciated it. We can’t wait for you to reopen so we can enjoy your fantastic food and hospitality. Fabulous as always. My wife and I have enjoyed the hospitality and excellent food at the Barley Mow since Jayne first opened. We last visited the restaurant on the Friday before Lockdown, 20 March , my wife had the haddock and chips which was superb as usual. I had my favourite, fillet steak which was cooked exactly to my liking , with peppercorn sauce . Both our meals were exceptional as always , we wish all the Team at B M all the very best and hope to see them soon .

Another excellent Sunday lunch. The food was outstanding. I had roast beef and my partner pork belly. Superb mash potato and roast potatoes. Vegetables were cooked to perfection and a delicious cauliflower cheese. Excellent Yorkshire puddings. We paid extra for stuffing but well worth it as it was homemade with proper sausage meat. Cheesecake as a dessert which was delicious. The service was very good and the staff very friendly. We have been here for Sunday lunch on a number of occasions and the food has always been superb. It is to be thoroughly recommended.

I often visit places and can find various faults with them but with this visit I could not find one fault from the friendly welcome to the choice and standard of the food. The waitresses were very friendly and obliging and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We had the gammon and Thai Chicken curry which were attractively served. This meal thoroughly gets my recommendation.

A party of 19 of us enjoyed a wonderful meal for my mum’s 95th and my cousin’s 80th birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpful, taking good care of us all from my elderly mother who was in a wheelchair, to my baby nephew. The food was fantastic, and we all enjoyed our meal. My wife's birthday I need to get it right We arrived at 6pm Drinks by a warm fire Seated at our table Then the food arrived My wife had Fillet steak cooked to perfection I had Steak and ale pie both had lots of fresh vegetables The steak pie was the best I have ever and I mean ever eaten The fillet was cooked mid to well absolute perfect We finished of with Treacle sponge and Custard again wonderful The staff were very very attentively even though the restaurant got quite busy This is my no1 for eating out in Lincolnshire

While staying locally we booked a table for Sunday lunch. It was good we did as it was fully booked. We had warm bread “nibbles” with pesto and butter as a shared starter, lovely fresh home made breads. I had the smoked fish pie, wow! It was the best fish pie I have ever had, and I have had a lot of fish pie in my time. It’s really smokey, loads of fish and prawns, served with veg. Hubby had the fore rib of beef and veg, he said it was cooked perfectly. He had creme brûlée and I had ice cream for dessert. Again both were tasty. If we ever come to this part of the country again we will definitely be coming back. It is almost worth driving 2 hours from our home to be able to eat here. It’s fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Taken by a Daughter for my birthday. Cheerful welcome, immediate service, shown to a table, drinks ordered and meal selections taken. Wonderful home made Broccoli and Stilton soup with warm crusty roll. I had the Half and Half Sunday roast, absolutely excellent. Plenty of meat, variety of vegetables. Me bigger eyes than belly [well some will disagree] had the fantastic chocolate Orange gateau with ice cream to follow.. Cannot fault this place in anyway. Highly recommend advise booking in advance. I have been to the Barley Mow a number of times, and I wanted to take a friend there on Xmas Jumper day, for a nice meal; well, I'm so glad we went, my friend was most impressed on her first visit. We both opted for the Xmas lunch, and my goodness, what a treat! Everything was perfect, and the portions were huge. In particular, the vegetable selection was first class. Even after a really filling main course, we still indulged in deserts, "naughty but nice". As usual, the owner, her staff, the ambiance, the quality and presentation of the food was impeccable. Along with all that, the whole meal was really good value for money. Fine dining at mid-range prices, Thank you, and I will return

We’ve visited a few times:with friends, as a couple, for the early bird menu and just for a drink. Most recently we got together with friends for National Pie Day. Started with garlic bread but can’t recommend enough the little duck balls (my friend generously shared one of his with me) while the garlic bread with cheese was perhaps a bit floppy, lacking in crispness. A few of us had enormous portions of delicious pies - Steak & red wine and chicken & leek. Plenty of chips, vegetables & gravy. Plus steak and other yumminess at the table. I was actually in pain afterwards because I was full but couldn’t resist finishing everything & ordering pudding. Forced down delicious pudding. could have gone for the refreshing pineapple carpaccio like my partner but how could I resist treacle pud?

Visted first for my Dad's birthday then a few day's later as we enjoyed it so much. A great vibe in the pub and great food, the mussels are to die for. great staff and service.

Visited the barley mow with my partner on a Thursday which happened to be pie night, pie main course and dessert for £15. My partner had this and said his pie was delicious with big chunks of beef and tasty gravy. I chose to have the ribs which were absolutely amazing with the meat falling off the bone and so tasty.

I always worry I’ll be disappointed when reviews are so good, well we wasn’t disappointed at all , the reviews are true the food is fantastic well worth the every penny, taste and presentation 1st class, and thanks to Ellie who just put the icing on the cake, we will definitely be back even tho we travel over an hour well worth it, thanks you for a lovely evening

Can't remember the last time I had a meal this good. £156 for 4 starters, 4 mains, 3 drinks each and 2 coffees. Worth every penny. Ellie served us and she is a credit to you. Cant wait to return. Thanks for a lovely night

We were staying nearby so booked (recommended as it gets really busy) for early evening. They have an early bird meal deal, Wed was steak night and they also have a full menu. We had a drink in the bar next to the open fire while we looked at the menus. We had spiced pumpkin and sweet potato soup and mussels with chorizo to start, fillet steak and king prawn curry for main and creme brulee for pudding. Everything was amazing!!! The service was good and really friendly. I would highly recommend this pub!!!

Went last night for the ‘ early bird special ‘ ( before 7 pm ) for the first time and 5 stars is the least we could give them. The welcome and service gives you a feel for what you are about to enjoy. Two courses for £15 that were absolutely top drawer and substantial- too much for us but if I had 2 stomachs I would have gladly filled them both. The best pub meal for a long time

13 of us visited this pub restaurant for Sunday lunch for my birthday. The food was excellent and all brought out together, all hot and freshly cooked. Portions were very generous. The place was lovely, very clean and nice decor. Staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend a visit.

Went here for our wedding anniversary tonight and have to say its the best choice we have made in months made to feel welcome the minute we walked through the door sat us at a table in the bar with our drinks to look through the menu and wow what a choice , took our orders and 5 minutes later collected our drinks and took us through to the restaurant to serve our starters , I work in the food industry myself and the service is 2nd to none very helpful and attentive girls they are a credit to your business , everything about tonight was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed every part of the meal everything was cooked to perfection its the very first time in months and months I have left a table with an empty plate ( it was too good to leave ) so well done chef We had whitebait goujons and soup for starters and Roast belly pork and Lamb rump for main couldn't make room for a sweet sorry We honestly cant fault anything about this place it was our first visit but it will certainly not be our last , this place is too good to drive past give it a go you wont be disappointed

It was a windy weekend from hell. Away for the weekend but this pub was a glowing gem in the windswept landscape. They even made out dog feel very welcome. The staff were excellent and the food spot on!

We called in the Barley Mow for a meal a few years ago and were really impressed with the welcome, the service, the food, the beers - yes, everything! On a repeat visit this weekend we were again not disappointed - the owner and staff create such a welcoming atmosphere. You can choose to sit in the old traditional cosy pub rooms, the light and airy conservatory or the lovely garden. My only complaint is that the Barley Mow at Friskney is 90 miles away from where we live...

There was plenty of selection in menus and it catered for even our fussy eaters! The service and waitress staff were very attentive and when the food arrived it didn’t disappoint. The ribs fell off the bone and the fish was flaky and fresh. The puddings whilst a little expensive were delicious! Definitely would recommend and would return if we stay in Skegness again

Visited for lunch with my Mother, great attentive staff and lovely food. Always good here, and although we are not frequent visitors it is always a treat. The marinated halloumi salad was great, really nice to see so many different vegetables included in the salad.

Went here with a friend for a Sunday evening meal ready to be disappointed, how wrong I was. This was pub grub par excellence, in fact more like a really well cooked homemade Sunday dinner. No stewed soggy vegetables here, all hot and zingingly fresh, beautiful roast pork with crispy crackling, lovely home made gravy, all piping hot - about as good as a Sunday roast gets. Not only that but really generous, genuine hospitality from charming staff. Managed to force down a delicious homemade cheesecake, pure greed after the very generous portion sizes. With drinks it all came in at under £40 for two - a bargain. Wish I lived nearer, I'd be there every week. Will certainly return whenever in the area. Long may it last, don't change a thing. This is rare excellence.

Having decided to go out for Sunday lunch but not sure where we decided to drop in at the Barley Mow as it had looked nice when we'd passed days before. In arrival just after 12 noon we ordered drinks and enquired if we could eat. We were told that the tables were fully pre booked so decided just to have our drinks and go elsewhere. The manageress had overheard our conversation at the bar and came over saying that a group had not turned up for their allotted time and she was going to text them. If she got no reply she would give us the table. This happened and we were treated to the best Pub meal I could remember. Mussels Gratin followed by belly pork. Unable to finish the main course due to its size I was happy to take almost half away for the following day. My daughter, [a veggie] said that the choice for veggies was one of the best she had seen and enjoyed hers immensely as well [some roasted veg on a massive mushroom with loads of veg as side dish.

Extremely poor service. Told 30 minutes after ordering our meal that a member of staff had gone to collect the fish that we had ordered!! Left to wait a very long time.

Visited the Barley Mow on Saturday evening, 27th July 2019 with my Parents etc. Had a warm welcome on arrival and was shortly lead to the restaurant area which was very pleasant and clean. The service was excellent from the young lady that served us to the landlady who checked that everything was to out satisfactory. The food was also excellent, well displayed, hot and ample portion for the hearty of us. The Barley Mow made us feel welcome and comfortable, thus making it a very enjoyable night for all. After having a few bad meals in skegness over the last few months, i decided to celebrate my grandad's birthday here as I haven't been for a while but have always had a good meal here, plus it is out of the way of all the tourists, so much quieter. There was 8 of us and a little person, and we were all looked after from the minute we arrived. Staff was very attentive - I think the owner Jayne was serving us and she was fantastic - especially with our 2 year old.....who is obsessed with food and doesn't like waiting. The food was absolutely gorgeous, we all loved our dishes and the desserts were out of this world. If they have the millionaires tart again - i highly recommend it.....did not want it to end. We will all be back again soon.

We are from the early bird menu. Fantastic value for money, great food and great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and polite, and the bar area is cosy. Plenty of choice of drinks and a warm welcome feeling

Good was fabulous and the two for one offer very reasonable. Staff were friendly and hard working and we very much enjoyed the experience. So much so, that we are going back again tonight to try the lamb (me) and the steak (my husband). Would definitely recommend this.

This was the second time we had visited this restaurant and I must say we were very impressed with the welcome and the quality of the food. I would recommend it to anyone and I just wish we lived nearer.

Had a lovely meal here would highly recommend a visit proper freshly cooked food and I would recommend ordering some pork crackling as a side order 💖

Great food , plenty of variety, something for every budget. Polite staff and quite frankly one of the few eateries in the area actually worth a visit. Will definitely visit again Thank you

We visited the Barley Mow 19 June 2019 - book in advance to b sure. The bar area and restaurant is lovely and clean. Staff polite, helpful, efficient and friendly. We had been recommended and it certainly lived up to its reputation. The food was fabulous. Menu lots of choice and they have speciality nights. Prices are reasonable - depending on choice. The starter we picked - kalmari was amazing and both mains were delicious. Would not hesitate to highly recommend this pub/restaurant for a visit.

Our only regret was not being able to finish the meal. We booked the Barley Mow after research into the area, and we were not disappointed. The starters were amazing, my husband had the whitebait and said they were the best whitebait he has had. The prawns in the delicately formed filo pastry basket were to die for. When the mains came out well my husband looked round to see if there was anyone else joining us for Sunday lunch. The forerib of beef was excellent and not silly slices, My husband had the half and half. I say the one regret. Thinking about it I have several regrets. First one being we didn't go to the Barley Mow on our first night leaving it till the last day of our holidays to have a meal there. And wish we had room for pudding as they sounded great. You know you are eating at a great establishment when you know the locals use it. If anything wants us to have another holiday in Skegness it is the Barley Mow.
