My friend and I called in here whilst in Wigton and had a bacon buttie and a barista butties both of which were delicious and cooked perfectly. I had a latte which was lovely and my friendcsaid her cappuccino was one if the vest she'd had. The staff were so helpful and friendly and we will definitely return.

What a beautiful little gem this place is stunning food and drink very friendly and helpful staff very warm and welcoming would highly recommend a visit Just off the Main Street in the town centre will be back for sure!

Excellent location , nothing was a problem for Janice and the team. The food was of a high quality sourced locally and cooked in house. We enjoyed a lovely relaxing evening.

After a long and tiring walk in the area we just needed to relax with a nice drink. When we entered to cafe they were just tidying up having just closed. But the lovely lady at the counter said she would do us a takeout and let us take chairs into their courtyard. The drinks were excellent and to cap it off another kind lady fetched out some scones which they had left over. In this day and age to find kindness and service like that is a treat. If you get chance to visit these angels in Wigton they really deserve it. We cannot praise them or the venue highly enough. Thank you.

My friend and I chose their speciality of the day Leek and Potato soup for our lunch , well that's what they called it....it was awful, watery with grease floating on the top didn't taste anything like what it was suppose to be, actually I couldn't tell you what it tasted like it was weird. We both returned it. Neither of us were asked if we wanted something else instead. On our way out we noticed another customer had also had the soup, my friend asked his opinion the face he pulled said it all. Sandwiches are well over priced at £7.95. Would not recommend to anyone.

Just visited with my friend as a treat for her birthday. We both ordered a cup of tea and a pannini each with Brie & Cranberry (£7.95) and also an extra of bacon (£1.50)… Panninis were very poor, small, little Brie and almost no bacon (2 tiny pieces about the size of a thumb nail).. we sent them back and it took ages for them to refill and return to us that were not much better. By this time our tea was finished/cold. No offer of a free tea or if everything was ok when I paid the bill (£23.40) !. Don’t like giving bad reviews but very pricey for what we had. Surroundings very nice.

Sandwiches had been made up a while before we arrived as the the bread was dry. Meant to get prosecco with it but wasn't to be seen. Staff lazy and had to ask for the table to be cleared of glasses. Staff really bad at coming to ask for drinks. We could wait to get out as it was freezing and we're meant to stay for singer.

Gorgeous breakfast in this chilled out restaurant. My husband had the Barista breakfast and I had the Spanish Hash, cooked to perfection. Friendly service we will definitely be back!

Visited with a friend last week and we were both really disappointed with the quality of the tapas. You know when you have freezer tapas at home when you can't be bothered cooking? Well this was the same. What looked like the lowest quality southern fried chicken strips from Iceland (you know when the strips are smooth not nobbly that it's poor quality!), a frozen garlic baguette fired in the oven with some cheese on top (not what I'd expect when I order garlic cheese bread in a restaurant), we ordered fried chicken in sweet chilli sauce which we expected would be flour dusted but it was lumps of plain chicken (again like the frozen stuff from Iceland) with a sauce on (the sauce was tasty tbf), we had chilli beef strips which were tasty but dry and didn't come with anything. The chips were clearly frozen fench fries. The halloumi fries were dry, hard and rubbery, even the garlic mayo tasted horrible. The waitress didn't seem to understand anything we said, she brought full fat coke instead of diet, not a huge issue really but didn't help our evening. All in all I think serving this quality of food is nothing short of embarrassing for a restaurant that looks so nice inside. It really does let it down. I don't know how you can even call it tapas? I won't be returning unless management make some drastic changes to their ingredients. Currently my advice is order a freezer full from Iceland instead of the £60 on 1 meal here. Such a shame, I really really want to like this place, especially when it's the only place in Wigton to sit and have a meal (other than the Indian). I'm not sure I can give this place many more chances 😔. Please do something management! 🙏

I don’t like to rate places so low as I have worked in hospitality and I know how hard some of us work to provide the best possible service to service users however not being from Cumbria myself and seeing all these amazing reviews the place has got I wanted to see what the buzz was all about. Anyhow - myself, my sister and my year old daughter were passing by and went for brunch at The Barista. I ordered two ‘deluxe milkshakes - one chocolate, one strawberry’ … there was nothing deluxe about it. It tasted like the Nesquik mixed with milk (I make plenty so I know it when I taste it) absolute rip off. Ordered a ‘freshly squeezed orange juice’ which again tasted like orange juice from any other carton. To top it all off we had ordered each a bacon sandwich with a few other toppings which to be absolutely honest I can’t even remember due to the disappointment! The lack of bacon on our ‘bacon sandwich’ was appalling for the price you pay you would have expected at the very least a few more LITTLE dices of bacon. The staff came across as rude and our request of a plate and cutlery for my little one (which I usually carry around with me wherever we go) to be too much trouble so when I had discovered the quality of the food I felt like I couldn’t even complain & be taken seriously. £30& upwards it cost to feed two people the bare minimal The ONLY pleasant thing was the desert I’ll give them that The time I then had to wait at the till to pay for our bill with a member of staff standing by chit-chatting away made me feel like walking away and not even paying to be frank This place isn’t all that great 🫥

Came on Sunday for a dinner with my mum and quite a few of her elderly friends. Quite pricey which we don't mind but when you can't even cut through the beef it was appalling. One of the ladies explained this to the waitress she stood there and said " sorry about that" and walked off. This isn't good enough my philosophy is never let a customer walk out of an eatery unhappy. This is why I am leaving such a disappointing review. We did give you the opportunity to put things right. We feel ripped off. Don't be fooled by the nice interior. Everything on the menu is overpriced

This is our second time here, and once again the food / service/ staff were great , so much so that we’ve booked to come again.

We had a lovely meal here last night, but the service was sadly lacking. We finished our main courses and prepared to order a sweet. Nobody came near our table again, we had no drinks, and 20 minutes later gave up on a sweet and left. We would have spent quite a bit more money, and didn’t leave a tip, which was a loss for those concerned at the Barista!

Cracking meal tonight, steak night and the Rump steak was cooked to perfection ( both of ours) whole meal was lovely. Couldn't ask for better, and lovely surroundings.

I don't normally write reviews but thought this place was definitely worth a mention. Stayed in the area for a week found this on our last night ( wish we had found it earlier) Had a great meal good service with excellent surroundings. Definitely recommend a visit. Chris Middlesbrough.

We were staying in the area with family and Went for Sunday lunch to celebrate my Mums 80th. They stayed open late for us which was great as it fitted with our plans. Food was lovely and had 3 courses to offer for the vegans in our group. Friendly staff and good service. Lovely interior and last but by no means least had wheelchair access and a disabled loo. Highly recommend.

Regarding the tapas owners need to dine out at proper tapas bar most of our order could had been bought at Iceland staff need training urgently.I hope the owners take this as advice because I think Barista has great potential

Very handy venue as I live locally. Sunday lunch for two adults and two children. Sea bass was delicious and turkey was melt in the mouth. Relaxed, comfortable dining, staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend trying.

Arrived in Wigton at lunchtime hoping for a nice pub and a light lunch, depressingly nothing looked even vaguely promising so we asked a local who pointed us at the Barista. It is tucked away up the side of the library but is certainly worth seeking out. It was quite busy and we enjoyed soup and rolls plus 2 glasses of decent red in a nice atmosphere with friendly service. Lots of other dishes at adjoining tables looked really appetizing.

We had a gorgeous meal last night at Barista. Two steaks and a bottle of wine for £30 - homemade chips, tomatoes, homemade onion rings, peas and additional homemade peppercorn sauce - it’s was absolutely delicious. Followed by homemade key lime pie and coffee. The weekend before we had dinner at Armathwaite Hall and I can honestly say it wasn’t anywhere near as good as the food here. We’ll be visiting again very soon.

Visited on Sunday afternoon. Didn’t want the roast but had fish and chips and pie and chips. Food was freshly cooked and tasty. Kids meals are also freshly made not frozen and good value. Also a very pleasant atmosphere and helpful staff.

Wigton has needed a place like this for a long time... Somewhere younger, modern and fresh and offering something different. Great decor and atmosphere inside, service was friendly and quick, brilliant place to just sit and have a catch up and a coffee.

I have been holding off reviewing here in the hope that teething issues are resolved. Its not happening though. The decor is lovely but the food is a bit hit and miss and there is often a long wait. The staff are polite but the last time I went the owners were in and it was as if the staff were intimidated, it was a bit unsettling really, I don't think I will bother going there again. Sorry.

I’ve decided to write a review and get the word out about this cosy, value for money restaurant that has not disappointed yet. What is offered on the short menu is delicious and well prepared. When I last visited with a friend, we were the only diners on a Friday night - something that belies the lovely food. Give this place a try - it’s a real treat.

Excellent little bistro went with my mam and 3 young kids made feel very welcome and the meals where lovely the cumberland sausage was a local butchers which was really nice and the the kids chicken nuggets where the nicest chicken nuggets I've saw put infront of child then for dessert we hade homemade cheesecake and a homemade stickytoffe pudding which where both really nice. Excellent value for money can't understand the neggative reviews about this place because we did not wait long at all I will be returning and I will be recommending to other family members and my freinds.

Been here a few times now and very mixed outcomes everytime! Very attentive staff but the food has its ups and downs. Need to put on more theme nights with drinks offers to bring people in the evening. Please invest in a decent ice machine, if you are selling cocktails you need to have ice

This place started off excellent and now its letting its standard slip, theref been no chef in on several occasions which means no food as he girls behind cant cook then theres the way the owners speak to the staff its appauling! No wonder its never the same person serving id have enough aswell wont be back in a hurry

Four of us came here for a meal on Saturday evening, a little nervous because we’d heard from others that they had had problems and had a new chef. We needn’t have worried; although the menu was limited due to the new chef starting, it’s possible it was all the better for that. The food was delicious, the two men chose steak which was cooked exactly to their liking and the ladies chose Sea Bass which was also cooked to our liking and was a good sized fillet - beautifully presented. The wine was also good. The staff were very friendly and helpful and helped give the place a good atmosphere. We’ve eaten here several times now and are very happy to keep going back.

Called in just for a coffee after a visit to the Dentist near by. Came across it by accident hidden up a little lane. Had the nicest cappuccino I have had in ages. My dad enjoyed his scone with jam too. The service was excellent and the staff really pleasant and lovely surroundings. Will definitely be dropping in again.Might even pop through one evening

This is a lovely little place, with amazing staff who make you feel extremely welcome. We were here for over three hours, and didn’t feel rushed at all.

Came here on a bike ride around the area, popped in for a cake and some coffee. Very nice surroundings and lovely staff. Had a bit of the Salted Caramel Cake and it was delicious. The Latte was hot and very pleasant. Nice little seating area outside which will be brilliant in the hotter months. Had different menu's for both day and night which would keep things fresh. Will definitely return for the evening menu, maybe even on one of the theme nights. (Tuesday is steak night which an elderly gentleman sung praises about). Definitely the smartest cafe in Wigton, very worth the extra penny
