This is a very welcoming pub both in looks of the pub and garden itself and service from the lovely staff. Gorgeous gardens for al fresco dining, an under cover seated area as well as a dining room and bar area too. It has a cordoned off children's play area. And dog's are very welcome. The menu is quite extensive and the hardest part is deciding what to have, we both plumped for the steak and kidney puddings (his and her sizes...) and opted for mashed potato and green veg. What can I say, the steak and kidney puddings got a 10 from both of us as the suet pastry was excellent and absolutely filled to the brim with tasty, tender meat. The mashed potatoes just right and the 2 types of cabbage cooked to perfection. We were so full we couldn't manage a dessert (but the menu all looked very appealing) so an Americano and Latte coffee's completed our meals. We can highly recommend.

We had two people in our party with very specific needs around their meals. The service and kitchen staff could not have been more understanding or helpful, and the food was delicious. Thank you all again to the team.

We all had the steak night. We asked for sauces and more drinks. Was told he didnt think they had salad cream so asked for mayo said he would check. Never arrived Eventually the drinks arrived, one drink was wrong. Very slow service. Food was good. Owner was uninterested apart from serving himself to drinks. Waitress explained they were short staffed afterwards.

We have eaten at the Crown many times, we’re there in the 21st July for lunch, always had a very good experience. The staff have always been excellent. The young ones are very good and show that they are hard workers, unfortunately their generation often gets bad press. We have been for Sunday lunch there for the last 3 weekends!

When we first visited The Crown, 2 or 3 years ago, we were impressed. Sadly, this was not the case on Sunday 21st July. We had booked well in advance, but were shown to the worst table in the restaurant. We asked to move to a different table but, despite the restaurant being more than half empty, the waitress was reluctant to move us. She finally agreed we could use another table which was still not ideal. Things got worse when the food arrived. We both had Sunday Roast, one pork, one beef. Both the pork and the beef had the appearance and texture of frozen ready meals. There was a very hard parsnip accompanied by equally hard potatoes, unidentifiable green vegetable on the plates and a tiny pot of vegetable to share. The gravy was watery, the Yorkshire pudding was tolerable. After this disappointment we were keen to pay the bill and leave without dessert. The staff were even awkward about that, making us wait unnecessarily. Finally, we paid and left, never to return.

The Crown serves tremendous food and a long and interesting menu. The staff are super friendly. I suffered a blackout during our meal and Simon assisted me to recover from the incident. He and his colleague were incredibly attentive and I'd like to extend my warm thanks to them both.

No follow up, interest or offer to resolve after two of us found the £22 Crab and Prawn inedible after it was drenched in an overpowering stringent sauce. We felt we ignored by service after we said we could not eat the dish eventually opting to just ask for the bill, and get out with a view not to return. The test of good service is the ability to resolve issues, rather than ignore them and the customer. This inability to acknowledge the poor dishes is a shame as the starters were good, and with some effort to acknowledge or resolve the Criwn could have retained a customer and avoided a poor review.

We enjoyed a family meal here. We all had Sunday roast. Everything was cooked nicely. Good value for 2 course for approx £20. Deserts were yummy. Very happy.

I’ve been to this place a few times and will definitely be returning. Each time the food has been great and definitely good value for money. Overall, majority of the staff are super friendly and has a good atmosphere.

We arrived with our 2 little dogs after a walk from Spting Meddow Caravan and MotorhomeCL site, A very friendly happy welcome from the staff on entering, we were seated out of the way as requested even though we hadn't booked, Our drinks were served at the bar and we took them to our table, we ordered, deviled whitebait and the prawn dish as starters and the chicken skewers and venison as mains, all washed down with a second drink, Service and food were excellent The bill came £78.80 we considered good value for money. Would we return,,, yes without a doubt. Thankyou, Ignore the -ve reviews, some people just hide behind the keyboard.. If you have a problem mention it at the time and give the establishment an opportunity to rectify it.

We went here for Sunday lunch with friends that are regular patrons. It is always busy here, so booking is essential, especially on a Sunday. Two of us chose the traditional Sunday roast, which was excellent. Two chose from the specials board and feeling more adventurous, chose a crab and prawn dish with spaghetti pasta. They both thoroughly enjoyed this dish and would choose again if it is on specials. We did have desserts, chocolate fudge cake, but the portion size was just a bit much for us after the delicious main course. We will definitely be returning here.

Spontaneous decision to eat out was accommodated by the team, despite the restaurant being busy. We chose a special and a regular menu main, chicken and leek friscasse and slow cooked pork belly. Absolutely delicious food, generous portions served hot and in a very timely fashion by lovely attentive staff. We found room for desserts too, creme brulee and waffle with ice cream, which were like the mains well presented and rounded off our meal perfectly.

Just got back from a Sunday lunch with my mum and family. Portion size good for a Roast Dinner plus extra veg in a side dish, meat could of been sliced thinner but that is me nit picking. Staff very friendly and courteous. Very good value.

First visit for Sunday Lunch, friendly attentive service, food and drinks ordered and only short wait, we both had Roast Rump and trimmings followed by Apple Frangipane and Creme Anglaise. Food excellent, other visits weekdays have always been most enjoyable, has to be our favourite Pub in the area

The best steak and kidney suet pudding you will ever eat!!!! The staff were welcoming and very attentive, a lovely quirky pub with a log fire. It’s a must visit if you’re ever in the area

Very nice pub very friendly staff excellent service and food tasting very good. Would recommend going there either for a drink or something to eat. It is in the middle of nowhere if you come from London would recommend it. I’m sure the locals know it very well.

Always had a good meal here but not this time! Family and friends meal which we preordered, lot wrong or not good even the scampi was well done!!

Booked a time, had wait 15 mins before being seated, obvious from the start, not enough staff. The barman was racing around on his own and was apologetic. My Burger which was supposed to come with Onion ring, was missing and the burger itself was hardly gourmet, more like a cheaper frozen option. Tried some of the suet pudding, looked ok but very salty, which is shame. With only limited staff, it was all a bit slow and drawn out, no fault of the staff. Pity the manager or owner, who was at the bar on his laptop the whole time, didn’t help out, or help co-ordinate better. Disappointed, to say the least, our last visit was also memorable for the wrong reasons. Shame, use to be an excellent venue, gonna give it miss for a while.

We arrived at the time we booked and was asked to sit in the bar and wait for someone to show us to our table which was about 10 to 15 minutes. At the table we waited for 15 to 20 minutes for further and the wrong ones appeared another 15 minutes and still no correct drinks, so went to the bar and I was told it would be brought to me eventually. The food was good and portions good size. The quickest thing to come all night was the bill as you would imagine not a bad price £130 for four although the incorrect drink returned had been added to the bill. on the way out was stopped to be asked if everything was ok and I said about our experience an apology was given and was told at least the food was okay . I am sure it was just a busy evening but with only one member of staff on the bar not very good for a Saturday evening. I won’t be returning.

First time here for us, we came for the Sunday roast menu. We hadn't booked but were slotted in with no fuss at all. Great friendly staff, whilst the food was plentiful and superb. Very reasonably priced too! Having recently moved to the area it's now our favourite pub. Will definitely be back.

Friends who dine here regularly booked lunch for us all when we visited them it was a good choice. The menu was extensive with something for everyone to enjoy, all beautifully presented and cooked. The portions were very generous, my devilled whitebait starter doubling as my main course. The seafood gratin and roast belly pork chosen by the others were all wonderful, as were all the desserts. I couldn’t even finish my generous chocolate brownie with ice creams. I would definitely return here if visiting again.

Mother's Day treat. Sunday lunch absolutely out of this world. The restaurant was extremely busy but staff were exceptional. In fact each and every member of staff that looked after us went above and beyond. But, there is one member of staff that deserves an extra thank you, that is Simon! He is an absolute gentlemen extremely smartly dressed and his personality is a pleasure to be around. Simon you are a credit to your profession, and a fantastic ambassador for The Crown at Banningham. It wasn't a easy Mother's Day for me this year, but, Simon and the staff and chefs have made what has been a sad day, into one if the nicest Mothers Day in an awfully long time. Again, thank you looking forward to seeing you all again.

The menu offers a decent range and had a specials board which gave you more choices. The steak and kidney pudding was very tasty and generous with very nice well cooked vegetables. Fish and chips good with nice chips. Prawn starters were very tasty with excellent bread. Service was good, friendly and welcoming. The restaurant could do with a bit more ambience. But otherwise not a bad pub.

Had burger, chips and coleslaw, the meat was of excellent quality, the coleslaw was delicious, I couldn’t manage all the chips as I was saving room for pudding, glad I did! The sticky toffee pudding was to die for, best I’ve ever had and I’ve eaten plenty as my favourite! I would go back just to eat that. Great staff, friendly and efficient, nice olde-worldie vibe, have recommended to friends to go and definitely have the sticky toffee pudding, yum yum yum 😂

A lovely little pub with a pleasant atmosphere and great grub. The main course was excellent (I had the burger) but the dessert stole the show. Best sticky toffee pudding I have ever had. It was amazing.

Always eaten here. Always first choice for food; however last night was disappointing. I Always have chicken skewers and there's now smaller portions and no coleslaw but prices not reduced. On looking at dessert menu I think £8.25 for 1 cheesecake is very overpriced and £9.25 for 1 Sticky toffee pudding is horrendous!!! Also when we phoned to book a table for 6 30 we were told only 6.15 available. We got there for 6pm and wernt seated until nearly 7pm!! Needless to say we won't be returning. Food is still very good but understaffed, poor portion sizes and overpriced.

Went to a wake today. Waited over 1 and 1/2 hours for the food to be served. The pub was full of fumes which came from the open fire. I would say there was not enough staff to cope with the function.

We were treated to Sunday lunch and although they were very very busy we had a bit of a wait but it was well worth it, the service was excellent the food was excellent and prices very reasonable, enjoyed by all 4 of us. This is not the first visit, lots in the past and maybe many more in the future

We enjoyed a family evening on Saturday and were treated to probably the highest quality food we have experienced in any pub we’ve been to, which has been quite a few over the years. Simply superb, including the game casserole with dumpling, beef bourgignon and chicken breast with perfectly cooked vegetables. The service was very friendly and attentive and the pub is a genuine local. An absolute pleasure.

We had a fabulous meal here,we were a bit late because if road closure but was no problem,very friendly,roaring fire, lovely atmosphere.Had sweet potato and chickpea curry,was warned little bit spicy,was one best curries I've had,smelt delicious and was so flavoursome, definitely had a kick.My husband had the duck,also one best he's had.Very reasonable price and good portions.Defintely would go back if in Norfolk again.

What a wonderfully quaint pub, this really is. Roaring fire and great food with very helpful and friendly staff. A must for anybody passing this way! I shall without doubt be returning here again.

I love this place. It's homely, log fires, real ale, great choice of food and drinks, and the staff are super friendly, plus the guy that runs the bar is just 'on it', you can tell he takes pride in what he's doing. We've been in for drinks at the bar, in for meals in the garden and inside, and it's been a pleasure every time. One of my go-to places in the area. It's where the 'real' folk go too... if you know what I mean? It's not the whole North Norfolk, only set up for tourists type deal, they care about what they're doing, the locals are in there and come back time and time again. Tourists are welcome too of course. It's a really great place.

The staff were friendly and the service was fantastic. It’s such a cozy atmosphere and the food was some of the best we’ve had. The portions were large and used quality ingredients with meats that were tender and well seasoned. Absolutely incredible all round. This was the second time visiting and we will definitely go back and would highly recommend.

Very disappointed with the food. The ingredients seemed reasonable but the cookery was not good. Between our party we ordered 5 different main dishes on the a la carte menu. The price point should be lower for food of this quality.

I wrote you a letter but as yet I have received no answer. Where do I start. We had a fifty mins wait after ordering. The plates were stone cold.The mash potatoe luke warm.Vegetables cold and the sprouts rock hard. The liver on one plate with blood coming from it.The other one not cooked properly.the lasagne was also not hot.we have been coming to the Banningham crown for the last thirty five years but this will be the last. We did mention this to the waitress but didn’t want to know.

We have visited this place for many, many years. It’s a family business and the welcome makes you feel like part of the family. Tonight my husband and I visited for dinner. My husband always has to have the outstanding steak and kidney suet pudding as he loves it so much. The portion size is huge and packed full of meat and comes with fresh veg of your choice. I had the roast Turkey from the Xmas menu and I can honestly say it was the best roast dinner I have ever had 5 star. We love this place and the very pleasant and helpful staff. I asked which gin they had and the choice went on and on, they have a great choice of ales too and some local which is always nice. Fantastic place and will be back soon. The food was lukewarm & very disappointing My friend had a miniscule fillet of dried up, overcooked sea bass. The fresh vegetables for two came in a tiny bowl - just about enough for one. I had 3 tiny slices of grisly stuffed fillet of lamb The so called “pannacotta” was 1/3 rd of a tiny ramekin of a flavourless creamy substance, with a teaspoonful of stewed apple & 2 blueberries!

Great starter. Poor quality main from the Christmas menu. Slow cooked pork? Don’t think so from the unrendered fat. I like my veg not overcooked but raw is a step too far. Chef condescended to agree veg was undercooked! Free pudding offered- we’ll see ! No- it wasn’t a salve to my disappointment. ‘Chefs larder’ from the wholesalers and thin weakly custard.
