The Bank in North Norfolk

We popped here for dinner whist staying in Sheringham. The staff were lovely and knowledgeable on the menu. The food was really flavoursome and tasty, not as spicy as expected but that did not take anything away from it. It was set up in a COVID safe way and all the staff were wearing masks or visors

It was a surprise. The food was excellent. Tasty and flavourful, with the right amount of hot and spicy background for our not-so-accostumed taste. We loved the gobi in particular and the naan portion was generous. The service was great and helpful in explaining the menu and give the right suggestions.We strongly recommend it.

Bit different and menu has Nepalese dishes rather than traditional items you normally have.Food was very good but not spicy at all, even dishes marked hot were not.Would recommend but restaurant lacked atmosphere but this maybe COVID related.Was only place we have been in sheringham that has not signed us in or asked as to use nhs app.

We ate here 4 days ago with reference to the food,value for money I cannot fault,however the decor and furniture needs changing but don’t be put off by that as the food is well worth a visit

We have been to this restaurant a few time and the food is fantastic. The only problem with this restaurant is that it has zero atmosphere, it needs some sort of traditional background music and some better traditional decor. When we were dining there were four other tables and when we stopped talking you could here a pin drop! The food is great tho and we will go again.

We chose this restaurant thanks to reviews on this site and were not disappointed. Luckily we remembered to make a booking for early on Saturday evening because by 6.20 the place was full. As the name suggests it is locared in an old bank premises with the vault door prominent in the back wall of the restaurant. The aromas fillng the restaurant made me hungry and excited for my meal. Tables are well spaced and we made aware that the table was required for another booking in 1.5 hrs. None of this distracted from the actual food which was delightful, Nepalese specialities alongside familiar indian favourites. Beautifully spiced dishes accompanied by rice , glad that I was tempted by one of the Nepalese specialities because I wiped the bowl clean with my naan .Will definitely come again when back in the area, if we can get a table

This place was recommended by a friend. He said it was quirky. Well it is if you look at the lunch menu. No suggestion of what is available at night.The description of the appetisers do not do their presentation justice. The chicken chilli fry and the polenka masu were really well spiced dishes, artistically presented. The mains were described as being served with gravy or sauce. They were also well flavoured but with less flair.I enjoyed my food and the lamb chatapata was every bit as good as my favourite dish at my local Indian back in Bedfordshire.If you like Indian food you will enjoy this restaurant.

We had a very nice meal at the bank. Wanted something different, and what better than a curry! The service was very good, friendly staff. My husband only likes a mild curry, and I like it hotter, you can get both here. Some English food too, if curry isn’t your thing.

I went with my husband for dinner. The food was very tasty but it was much hotter than the menu suggested it would be. I went was a mild dish and it was more like a medium/hot. It was definitely more Indian than Nepalese. The service was good and the restaurant was Covid-safe.

We have had takeaways from the Bank during lockdown but this is the first time we have eaten in the restaurant since we moved to Sheringham. The food was delicious we had Nepalese dishes which were unusual and had really good flavours. The butter nan was light and fluffy. The service here is friendly and efficient. The Covid precautions seem good with proper social distancing. It is very busy though so you do need to book to be sure of a table

One of the best meals of this type we have had. Great service and a nice friendly atmosphere. We will certainly return if we can get a table!!

We ate here on a Friday evening at 7 o’clock and I’m glad we had booked because the place was very busy with a queue for tables.The welcome was warm and friendly and we were shown to a nice table in the pleasantly airy restaurant.We soon ordered our drinks and food.We both opted for a Nepalese dish (first time for both of us). The menu had a good choice of Nepalese dishes and the usual Asian dishes.When it arrived it was beautifully presented and smelt wonderful, then when we tucked in to it the taste was great!The portion size was plentiful and we enjoyed the food in a comfortable environment with very pleasant staff.We wish we lived nearer Sheringham as this is a top restaurant that we’d like to visit regularly!

Its a very interesting place to eat. The food is very nice. Especially the fried chicken starter. The Nepalese curry is also delicately flavoured and not too hot. There is plenty of it and the value for money is also very good.What does let it down a bit is the service is a bit slow and unorganised. Took rather a long time to serve us, forgot the knife and fork, didn’t bring out all the main course at the same time. Simple stuff.BUT definitely go for the food. Its very good!

Had a fabulous take-away from here whilst on holiday in the area. Phoned the order through and was ready to collect 20 minutes later. The food was amazing. We had various dishes and couldn't fault any of them.

when we are on holiday in Norfolk, we always visit bank restaurant for meal. This year experience has been great aswell. curry was flavoursome, pipping hot just perfect!! They have followed the government social distancing rule, table were laid out considered distance apart, I think it is advisable to book table in advance as there were only limited tables. It was really nice experience once again, Thanks to all the bank team, awesome food and great service. All the best guys.

I arranged a takeaway as a Friday night treat and it was delivered which was great. There were 3 of us eating, all of whom chose a different Nepalese dish. All dishes were of the highest standard - hot, tasty and different.

Staying in Sheringham for a few days and ate at The Bank last night. We had one of the best meals ever there! The food is exceptionally good - absolutely delicious!! The service is attentive and lovely too! Cannot fault this place. We would come back - just to go there again!!!

Generally really nice food and good service. I had one of the most delicious meals there. Unfortunately I only managed to visit once as it was a holiday meal.

After the surprise burning of a Viking Longship and a blustery day birdwatching we bumped into the Bank and the idea of a Nepali twist on a familiar theme. Wow! A perfectly formed evening with food that was genuinely different (the Nepali section of the menu), great service and a busy atmosphere. Black Sheep beer complements this really well. Left with a chilli buzz in our mouths and high spirits. Will be back.

If you want a good curry the Bank will not let you down. There is a good choice of dishes from mild to very hot. The service is good with a friendly smile. If there is a minus point the tables and seats could do with a more comfortable and user friendly feel and look. They need updating! There is good parking nearby.

We have visited several times in the past when in the area visiting friends. I had booked a table for a valentines night a few weeks back for 7pm for four and when we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to our table.As always the food was lovely and beautifully presented upon the plates.I have had to stop eating meat for medical reasons and there’s was no shortage of vegetarian options.A slight delay with the main course, however we were informed and it didn’t detract as we were happily chatting, we shall be back again

Once again we had a fabulous evening meal at The Bank, Despite being 2 of only 6 people in the resterant we recived the best of servise,, Again the resterant ticked all the boxs, If you grt chance give this place a try.

We were recommended this Nepalese restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food was lovely ,the service was excellent and the price was very reasonable. A good selection of food both traditional and English.

We went to the Bank on Saturday evening, the staff were very friendly and service was very good, The food though was very average at best, we had a lamb and a chicken dish, and the taste of both dishes were very bland as if the meat was frozen not fresh, Our food was served very quickly and people on tables around also commented on how quickly they received their food, which almost makes me think it was not cooked fresh at the time of ordering, I don't think we will visit again.

This was our first visit to The Bank despite having stayed in Sheringham a number of times over the years. We had an excellent meal, great quality and ample portions. We will definitely return when we are next in Norfolk

Visited with friends, my first visit and was very lmpressed with the service and the quality of the food. I opted for the Nepalese menu it was superbly presented and extremely tasty,I will certainly be returning

we stayed in Sherringham at the end of Oct, we went to the Bank for an evening meal, wow we wasnt disappointed, the food was fantastic huge servings and the taste and flavors were beautiful, a little more expensive than normal Indian meals, but very very worth it.

Me and my husband went here in August 2019 for our Anniversary and it did not disappoint. It was our first time trying Nepalese cuisine and we loved it. It was our first time in Sheringham as well, the quality of food in this restaurant was outstanding. I would recommend it to everyone, you won't regret it.

We had a wonderful meal here. The honey chilli chicken was wonderful as was the Nepalese curry! We also had the lovely paneer starter. Service was good and we couldn’t stop talking about how lovely the food was! Thank you

The food here is really something special - beautifully fresh ingredients impeccably prepared. It is more expensive than a standard Indian curry, but worth the extra for a taste of something different. Service was a bit slow (although in fairness they did warn us) but also they kept forgetting to replenish cutlery, drinks, etc. Despite this, the food was so good that our party would have been perfectly happy to go back the following night!

A quiet Monday evening in this popular restaurant and we soon realised why it was so busy. The meals were excellent. Full of taste and well presented. The curry was excellent.

We have been to this restaurant before and the reasons for going are still the same. The appearance of the dishes is stunning and the flavours are better still. PS The service is efficient and friendly.

Truth is: The Bank is pretty good. The food is fresh and tasty. It's definitely one of the better Indian restaurants we have been to in North Norfolk.

Arrived to be greeted by a nice friendly man who showed us to our table.

Having never tried Nepalese food before I was intrigued to try and was not disappointed in any way ,shape or form. As a party of four all of our starters and main meals were excellent. The staff were friendly, welcoming and eager to help without being obtrusive.

Food was great the second time we’ve been here didn’t let us down All four of us happy. Will definitely go again

Came across this lovely restaurant last December on a cold & wet day, we were drawn in by the lunchtime special’s board outside. I have been several times since & the food is excellent along with the customer service, although I have to say I’ve only eaten meals from the lunchtime specials board.

We were in Sheringham the first week in August which just happened to coincide with my birthday Having had a couple of lovely meals there in 2018, I asked the husband to book a table. I kept my fingers crossed that the standard had not changed.

This was our third visit in as many years. Pleased to see that they have upheld their quality. Food lovely, quick service and reasonably priced. Always happy to reccommend. Not sure about wheelchair access (best to check with them) but there is plenty of parking nearby.

We returned to The Bank having had a delicious meal last year when on holiday. This year was equally as good - I had the lamb jalfrazi and the special rice which was excellent. My wife who has a gluten free diet had the Nepalese special chicken dish with steamed basmati rice - it was really good and dealt with dietary issues very easily. Recommend that you book especially if you are a party of four or more as several groups were disappointed during our visit. The Banks reputation is well deserved- the staff are friendly and helpful.

Fabulous Nepalese and Asian food, beautifully served in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Very professional also very clean. Really good.

We visited The Bank last night with family. Our first time and their second. We ordered from the Nepalese Menu, we had Lamb Mysor, 2 x Pudni Chicken, Navrattan Korma, Sag Aloo, Daal Makahani and Aloo Gobi, with Kashmerie Rice and steamed rice. Well what can I say wonderful wonderful food, tender chicken, fall apart lamb, creamed spinach in the sag aloo so so tasty and different from Indian food, I love Indian food but this is on a higher level, there is no ghee residue that you can get with Indian food which can feel a tad heavy, this is just (hunting for a word here!) heavenly, perfectly balanced spice and full of flavour and the perfect texture sauce. All food was piping hot and served on good quality tablewear. An excellent experience and I would not hesitate to recommend The Bank. 10/10!

Interesting selection of Nepalese, Indian and other dishes. Pleasant service. I chose Nepalese dishes - which were different to other Asian food; others chose Indian dishes which were more run of the mill.

The food here is very good and quite a different take on your normal Indian curry I have been twice recently and have had a really tasty curry from the Nepalese section both times well worth a visit.

We were on holiday and our B&B; owners recommended The Bank and we're very glad that they did. Our past experiences of Nepalese food have not been very positive. This time it was completely different. The food was excellent - lamb bryani, sheekh kebab, paneer, garlic naan - tasty Indian-style cuisine but with a light touch. We would definitely eat at The Bank again, next time we're in Sheringham.

An absolute delight to find a genuine Nepalese restaurant, owned and run by a Nepalese family. Food was excellent. It is a must to have the Momo.

Visited this restaurant twice during our 5 night stay in Sheringham, as the first visit was so nice, not over powering in heat just really tasty food run by a lovely couple and the staff were nice also, good range of food.

My family experienced their 1st Nepalese meal tonight at The bank. We all really enjoyed the food. Flavours were so delicious!! We will come again. I cannot recommend enough 😀

We went to the bank only because my wife loves charity shops, my feet in the end were hurting like Billy goats.

Bought a takeaway of chicken jalfrezi & saffron rice whilst visiting family in Sheringham. When I got home I popped it in the freezer & ate it a few days later, wow it was superb one of the best curries I've ever had, so full of flavour & loads of meat, shame I don't live nearer! Staff were friendly and polite & restaurant was nicely decorated, they also have an automatic door so you don't have to struggle when carrying out your food, a nice touch will definitely go back

This is a Nepalese restaurant and I love Nepalese food but I felt it had been toned down for the tourist trade. Nevertheless the food was tasty, the restaurant was clean, the staff were friendly.

Nepalese cuisine wasn't the first that sprung to mind when we reached Sheringham, but friends recommended the restaurant and we weren't disappointed. Certainly worth a visit – service was efficient, premises well dressed and food scrummy.

Visited the Bank Restaurant along with six golfing colleagues following a round of golf at Sheringham Golf club. We had booked for 7.30 and our table was ready for us on arrival. The food selection off the menu was comprehensive with a varied choice to suit all tastes with items clearly marked regarding the level of spiciness / heat.

So good we went twice in the week we were in Sheringham, only Asian food but excellent choice and well cooked and tasty, staff very pleasant and helpful - essential booking as very popular with the locals - which says it all!

Went here with my partner Saturday 22nd June for dinner. Seated promptly and served efficiently by lovely, friendly waitresses who always had a smile on their faces.

If you like Thai then this is the restaurant for you! Book way in advance if you are visiting peak times else you may not get in. My only gripe was the lack of choice on booze, but the food more than made up for it. Great place to have a lovely meal with your friends or loved ones as a treat as it is slightly expensive.

Visited at lunchtime and we were not disappointed.I would go as far as to say I had one of the best curries for many a year (lamb Mysor) . The restaurant was very clean and the staff were efficient and welcoming.We will certainly return when visiting Sheringham again.

Excellent Nepalese restaurant the dishes are all freshly made and served with a smile the staff are very helpful when choosing the dishes. The food is cooked to a very high standard and tasty. Definitely one to return to

Nepalese food...never before..what have we been missing.

Visited here while staying in Sheringham for the week. The reviews were good so we gave it a try and the verdict was that it was delicious. As a family of 5 who enjoy a curry out from time to time this one didn't disappoint. Two children tried the Chicken mo-mo and the other the Lamb mo-mo to start. I had vegetable khaja sharing with the Chicken chilli fry too! All were delicious and beautifully presented. For main we kept it Nepalese as opposed to the Asian options. One of the adults had Buteko Masand I tried the Speciality Chicken. Both were made to a high standard we chose the saffron rice and naan bread. The children enjoyed their milder choices of Mango chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala. Would recommend this place as somewhere a bit different, my first experience of Nepalese and one I would love to repeat another time.

First time here in fact first time for Nepalese food & i must say it was outstanding taste,quality & quantity. We had a starter between us (Tandoori Lamb Chops) a (Chatapata Chicken ) rice & Garlic & coriander Naan also between us & there were plenty. Very spicy & tasty but not too hot lovely & £27.20 for the lot so excellent quality & value.

My first visit here and will definitely return. It's the first time I had tried Nepalese food and it was delicious. I had the chicken Mo mo as a starter, which was amazing, followed by a beef Nepalese curry, which was also delicious. The staff were attentive without being overpowering.Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent Indian/Nepalese cuisine. I had the Nepalese chicken curry. Very tasty and not too hot. If you like this type of food, I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

This was a first for me. Visited plenty of Indian and other Asian restaurants, but my very first time experiencing Nepalese food. Although the menu was both Indian and Nepalese, I clearly just had to try something from Nepal. And I am so glad I did. Delicious, rather different from Indian, but a real delight. Also great value for money, so looking forward to another visit.

we were treated by our special friends to a fantastic meal for my birthday. The food here is the best you will find anywhere the service is very friendly and discreet. Portions are very generous and the food is served piping hot, my taste buds are going just writing this review but unfortunately we will have to wait some time to return as we were on holiday from north devon. if you like well spiced tasty food try the Bank

I was really pleased impressed with The Bank, being Nepalese it was a twist of the usual Indian. The service was very good but the quality of the food was excellent. All of my party were impressed with the food and enjoyed the meal.

Wow went with friends for special birthday meal.And it was special....We live near Leicester so are spoiled for good curry...My hubby the only meat eater was blown away with his lamb dish.And us veggies were very very happy..Best ever defo go back..

Very busy Monday night. Luckily we got in early. I liked that an old building has been repurposed. Sat next to the old vault. We were glad we were away from some rather boorish self important clientele elsewhere in the room. Loud conversations and a huge sense of entitlement. Food came quickly after ordering and was very hot. Too hot to eat in fact. After it cooled down I enjoyed my chicken curry. Veggie side dishes were excellent too if a tad expensive. Female waiting staff were polite and attentive. Male manager? Was stroppy with my veggie mate and blanked me when we were paying at the till. The bloke before me got full on smiles and jokes. I got blanked. Nothing. Mysoginy? Strange atmosphere. Luckily we left just as a large group of self opinionated Chelsea set arrived. Lucky escape......marked down for manager attitude and atmosphere

My wife and I had a great meal here. Much better than expected, absolutely superb.

First time here and not the last, food and service was very good. Just one complaint is they advertise King Prawn dishes in the menu but they are Tiger Prawns. Not a great lover of Tiger Prawns but the dish i has was very good.

I have to give this place an excellent because the food, service and cleanliness within restaurant and toilets, could not be faulted. Although we visit Sheringham a few times each year, this was our first visit to this restaurant. The food was absolute amazing. So many herbs and spices and a good sizeable portion at an acceptable price. Will defo be revisiting on our next trip.

The Bank is a Nepalese / Indian restaurant, which also provides a good choice of English dishes, so you can take your granny or children with you if they don't like spicy food. As the name suggests, the building was once a bank, and they still have the large vault, which they are happy to show you. The people are delightful, the food was delicious, and I can fully recommend the Butter Naan - absolutely scrumptious. Very good value for money, and good portions. We will definitely return.

Went into the Bank on the off chance as it is certainly one of our favourites in Sheringham. We did not have a reservation and they were very busy with large parties, however no histrionics, they found a table and based on the large parties we ordered quickly. Great fresh food as ever. This restaurant just keeps producing the goods.
