Taste of Thai in North Norfolk

I had really good food again the other night- a destination venue post Covid for me I will be back soon

Fabulous Thai food and a gracious hostess. I hope that more people go there to support this little gem. We can’t go to Thailand right now but this brings a bit into the heart of Norfolk.

Great tasting food, super friendly staff and also better value for money that other local Thai restaurants! Highly recommended.

Very expensive for what it is. Possibly the worst Thai meal I've had; greasy, stodgy, poor quality meat. The staff are pleasant and attentive but sadly the food is just horrible.

Stood at bar for 5 minutes before anyone realised we were there, ordered food which came quickly however, once we got our food we didn't see anyone until they came to take our plates 20 minutes later, they then brought mains straight away and again, no one to be seen, you can however hear lots of talking coming from the kitchen, took our plates away and then no one, waited 15 minutes then went to the bar and ask for the bill then had to go looking for someone again 10 minutes later, only 1 other table occupied in the restaurant. Food was very nice but the service was very disappointing, we would probably had 2 extra drinks and coffee if they'd have been attentive, i wouldn't recommend or go back

We came with our family members and young kids, had fantastic starters and main course. Children loved it. Can discuss suitable dishes for children which they can enjoy. The restaurant has a lot of space to accommodate from couple dining up to group parties and we didn’t have to be asked to leave at specific time. So we took time especially when with children. Staff are helpful and friendly. Environment is peaceful and calm which is suitable, great view of town. Will always return on family’s special occasion. Thank you restaurant staff for looking after us.

We popped in here without reservation early evening. A warm welcome followed and we stir fried mains which were nice and hot and very tasty. Simple desserts finished the meal off well. Prices are mid - range in my opinion but you get lovely surroundings, attentive and pleasant service and lovely tasty food.

Food was hot and apart from the noodles which were somewhat bland, it all had great flavour. Service did take a while, but all the staff were very polite and friendly.

We dropped into this restaurant without booking on a Saturday evening and finding it almost full, we expected to be turned away.However, the delightful Thai member of staff rearranged a couple of the tables and accepted us for dinner.The food was excellent and the service without fault.Well recommended.

I love thai food but sometimes it can be a bit on the expensive side compared to alternatives. Which is why at £5.99 the lunch menu here is unbelievable value for money. A choice of starter, a choice of main course and choice of rice, all served together is an excellent alternative to a soggy sandwich or an overpriced alternative. Yes, the stairs are steep and the surroundings could do with a revamp, but at prices like these, and food so good, who cares!?!?

First impressions when walking into this restaurant are of an old fashioned, dated restaurant. It’s not the most beautiful of surroundings, but it’s got character, and it grows on you.The food is a highlight.. we al had the mixed starter and it was really delicious. For the main course, the green curry is well recommended from me, but all the dishes were hot and tasty. Rice is served in huge quantities. 1 portion could easily serve 2 people.The service was a bit of a mixed bag. The staff were fantastically friendly, but not always easy to find. It was Saturday night when we went, and I think they were being asked to help with take away orders. The wine we ordered was both cheep, and delicious. It’s hard not to recommend.If your going out for a taster Thai meal with a group of friends it’s great. If however you are looking for something with more ambiance, you might find better elsewhere.We all had a great meal. And will be back.

This review is aimed at the managers at the restaurant as my partner and I visited on a Friday evening which of course the restaurant was really busy and there were only two people serving as one apparently was off sick.We ordered a set menu for 2, however the wait inbetween each course meant that after being there for 2 hours we only mananged to get served 2 of the courses and left before the last course was served because the wait was far too long. As I say this was not fault of the 2 ladies serving as the restaurant was full and they cannot be serving, drinks and food and making the eating experience as it should be as they were just too busy. The food was fine it was just the slow service that let this place down and it is a shame as a lovely venue serving authentic tasting food.

We called in on a lunchtime as we fancied a Thai but found it to be bland and full of veg, totally unrelated to Thai cuisine.

After walking past this restaurant so many times we decided to make an impromptu visit.Greated by a friendly member of staff who was dressed in traditional thai regalia. The decor was a bit dated... but great views overlooking fakenham town centre.We ordered starters main course, which was timely served wasn't overly impressed with any of the dishes and not really living up to our previous experiences of other thai restaurants.... the only dish we liked was the seafood sizzler. Think we will in future well continue to walk past the taste of thai and maybe visit one of the other local thai restaurants that seem to pay a bit more attention to the cooking and presentation

Authentically decorated restaurant and all the staff wore traditional Thai clothes. The menu had lots of choice, the food came quickly and tasted great. The environment was intimate for couples, but there were a couple of tables with small groups and it worked well and created a nice atmosphere without being intrusive. Staff very pleasant and efficient. A nice little find in North Norfolk!

I was happy to find that this little restaurant is able to cater to gluten free people. I went in and ordered a takeaway and explained to the lady taking my order that I am gluten free. She was very helpful and understanding, and ensured that the chefs didn't add any soy sauce or other gluten containing ingredients to my food.

We had the set two course lunch which was a really good price, although you do get served both courses on a tray

Ordered a take away for collection and it took almost 2 hours, when finally collecting it they missed out two dishes that we ordered and paid for. The pad Thai was so bland and over cooked and the Panang curry was so watered down and under seasoned

The food was delicious and in a nice setting. The dishes were bulked out my tinned new potatoes which wasn't great but they had absorbed the flavour. Service was good. Couldn't believe how cheap it was.

Found this nice little restaurant by chance on market day took a chance and WOW , We were seated very quickly drinks arrived really fast ,We both ordered set lunchtime meals they arrived very prompt and tasted really great would definitely recommend it.

The food prices were very reasonable for the quality of food you get and the portions. The food tasted amazing and the service was also top rated. The deserts in offer are also not to be missed.

We visited based on the reviews here and overall were happy with our experience. Some of the food we ordered was great, some not so great. We've been to Thailand and eaten Thai in many countries, plus have a Thai family member so like to think we know Thai food! Great Panang curry, chicken Satay needs more Satay sauce. Pad Thai was quite bland, we wondered if the sauce had been forgotten. Staff were very friendly and service was good too.

Ordered takaway for 4 and was not dissapointed. Had to wait a while but it was worth the wait. Would return.

We come here nearly every week and absolutely love their food. We've always had great service from the lovely blonde waitress and the food is excellent, give it a go, lovely atmosphere too.

Beef and sticky rice, the sticky rice came in an individual steamer basket inside was a sweaty plastic bag that housed the rice,obviuosly straight from the microwave. The rice slid out of the bag in a gluppy mass which I speared with my fork and raised the entier lump above my plate, if it had slipped the plate would have been in pieces. The beef was typical indistinguishable peices of probably steamed under extreme pressure to make it yield. The beef sat miserably amongst a ladle of house stock which was sickly sweet tasting neither fragrant nor floral. In a vain attempt to personalize a solitary sliced carrot floated a top- with serarrrated edges. Waitress asked if ok, I stabbed and raised the offending mass of rice and asked if she would eat this at home? She said yes and have I never had sticky rice before? I paid what I valued it and left. Never again.

Very average food. Wine arrived already opened (usually means they filled it form the cheap plastic cask bought in France. Service was good though from a very pleasant young lady. Doubt we will be using it again.

Every time I go there the food is always amazing. The atmosphere is pleasurable. The food with amazing in the restaurant and the takeaway is just as good. The staff is very efficient and take great care of everyone and makes sure we are happy.

My first visit to this restaurant was with my wife on our wedding anniversary. Our evening meal was so tasty that we promised to take our sons there for a lunch. Accordingly, on one of the rare occasions that our sons both had the day off from their employment, we drove to Fakenham and sampled the set lunch menu.

I have been a long time regular customer. I would honestly say I and my family always have been coming to this restaurant not only on special occasions but also when I have visitors. I have never been disappointed with the way things are in regards to service and meals despite whatever bad comments people made. There were some busy times that we had to wait but it was worth it, We have always been recommending this place to our friends and colleagues.

Arrived around 9pm on a Thursday evening the restaurant was empty. We decided to give it a try but we found the food disappointing.

The restaurant has good service, good environment...and...most importantly...excellent food. It is always a good experience and the food is absolutely amazing.

I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend about 5 years ago.

Our first impression was the steep flight of stairs that had to be climbed before arriving in the restaurant. First appearance was a very tired looking place. Very old carpets, patched in places, menus were stained. Only 6 people in the restaurant but we had to wait quite a while. The Mother and daughter apparently run the place. Not a great variety of drinks. This was my first introduction to Thai food and I am sorry was not impressed.

En un viaje a Fakenham nos encontramos este encantador restaurante tailandés Little en un carril en la plaza del mercado. Un Lunes, parecía lleno, lo que me sorprendió. Sólo había una camarera trabajo supongo que sorprendió a estar tan ocupado en lunes. Sin embargo, el servicio era fantástico y en buen tiempo - ella ciertamente era ocupados. La comida era genial: un rojo precioso curry y un plato de marisco, ambos con arroz pegajoso perfectamente cocinada. Realmente sabrosa. Recomiendo encarecidamente esta pequeña joya de restaurante.

Fuimos para el menú que llevar. El pollo con nueces de anacardo era muy sosa. La carne era más sabrosa, pero curry nada especial y que no podría decir demasiado, a pesar de leer entre los platos muy diferentes. La mejor parte era probablemente el primer plato, con las tiras de pollo tener una bastante decente y los rollos de primavera satay siendo fresco y no demasiado grasiento. La búsqueda de un decente para llevar norfolk continúa!

Entre los mejores tailandeses por aquí. La comida, el servicio y la relación calidad-precio es excelente. parking está a 25 m de distancia en aparcamiento o en la carretera. La única pega es que necesitas estar relacionado a una cabra de montaña para negociar las...

Este es un gran valor para el dinero - Menú de 6 platos para 7 3 pequeño del menú - rápido servicio, educado en producción trabajó duro y ambiente en un edificio muy antiguo que una vez fue un hotel y posada casa.

Visité el restaurante en la noche con mi madre para cenar antes de nuestra visita al cine. Nos saltamos directamente al plato principal. Teníamos un pollo al curry verde y curry verde de verduras con dos porciones de arroz de coco. Uno bowl es simplemente no era lo suficientemente! Nuestro curry's estaban llenos de hortalizas y la mía estaba llena de pollo. Los sabores eran preciosas. Dejamos espacio para un postre. Tuve estarás más banana algo que no he tenido en años. Fue un lujo. Y mi madre disfrutó de un delicioso plato decorado de helado de Madagascar. Nos llena! El servicio fue rápido, ya que el personal nos informó al cine. Sin embargo, salimos nosotros mismos el tiempo suficiente. Una noche muy placentero. Gracias.

Excellent service through out whole evening.on arriving we got a warm welcome the decor is great lots to look at we were seated at a table the cutlery was of authentic style which to us was really nice to see.the staff were very polite and they were always smiling and never imposed when we were eating they were also dressed to the style of the restaurant.food was served hot and provided with hot plates on table to keep it all warm everything tastes real nice with the right amount of spices where needed nothing was over spiced .price was just what we expected for a thai restaurant we will be back again.

I've had takeway from here twice and both were awful. Different dishes but both tasted of nothing in particular. There are far better places for Thai food within 10 miles so make the extra effort and go there.

I haven't written a review in a while, but given that I endured,a takeaway from here, I feel I need too. I'm widely travelled, and I have eaten in many Thai restaurants, and had many takeaways. But this has to be the worst I've ever tried. I had mixed starters, which consisted of Spare Ribs, which were nice.Wontons which were overcooked Satay Chicken which was okay.And something that looked like Prawn Toast, cooked in egg, it was just a sticky stodgy mess, which was inedible.Moving onto the mains we had Chicken Massaman Curry, which tasted watered down, and nothing like any Massaman curry, I had ever tried, and I don't mean that in a good way! I also had a duck dish, I can't remember which one, and tbh, I don't think it would of mattered, the duck was stringy, and flavourless.A Prawn dish I had, the prawns still had their tails on, and yet again the dish was inedible. Lastly we had Phad Thai once opening this dish, we decided we would have no choice but to bin the meal. I was passing through, and brought the meal to take back to my Caravan in Thetford Forrest where I was staying on holiday. Had I been local I would of taken the meal back, and demanded a refund. A complete waste of £37.00 . I wouldn't wish this meal on my dog. Disappointed, and I feel ripped off, I definitely will not be returning.

We sometimes pop in for lunch and have fixed price menu, or go for dinner, perhaps trying something different. The staff are lovely, the atmosphere is relaxed and the food is always consistent and delicious. A regular favourite with all the family for many years.

We turned up on a Monday evening without booking, only one other table occupied. It seemed to take longer than usual to come and take our order and deliver our mains. The food however was excellent, quite sufficient and very tasty. We did have desserts, a very limited menu but they did an excellent banana split and I had a mint ice cream in a chocolate case, very nice. The girl serving was very pleasant.

My friend and I popped into the Thai for lunch. It was there first time having Thai food. They really enjoyed the flavours of the green curry and the spring rolls. We will both definitely be visiting again.

We had dinner in December as we got a free £50 voucher from a client.. there was hardly anyone in the restaurant.The starters were lovely, very tasty. The mains not so great and service was slow. Would go back but in no hurry.

Have eaten here a few times for lunch,they offer a good value meal deal, the food is very good and the restaurant is nicely decorated.

My family and I arranged to go for a lovely Thai meal before heading to the cinema. We booked a table to make sure we gave our self's enough time. Service was very welcoming and the atmosphere was cosy. We informed the staff we were off to the cinema and ordered just main course. Warmers were bought to our table with our plates and not long after followed our food. It was delicious, full of flavour and presented nicely. We were very pleased with our visit and shall be back again. Thank you.

Having lived in Thailand the food was excellent best i have eaten in the Uk, Service was attentive and what a lovely atmosphere very authentic, my partner and i had such a lovely evening.i recommend this restaurant highly it brought back so many memories of my life in Thailand.So Thank you to o and her staff for a lovely evening you made us so welcome.

Me my mum and my dad went up for a lunch time meal we waited at the bar for about 30 seconds then we were seated. I chose to have a Thai green curry and it was full of flavour and it tasted great. When we left the restraunt we was warmly told bye see you again definitely recommend it will definitely be visiting again

During a visit to the Fakenham market my mum and I went for a lunch at Taste of Thai. The choice of set meals is a good variety and staff are helpfully with choices. The portion size is perfect for just filling that spot. Really enjoyed and thankful for a lovely service.

This resturant is up a flight of steep stairs and has steps into the property as well as the restaurant floor. The waitress did not raise a smile when she showed us to the table obviously just cleared from the last customer no cutlery no napkins even though there was other tables already dressed. We were seated and waited a long time for our drinks order to be taken and eventually the waitress returned again with drinks and stale prawn crackers. I should of taken the hint then. She returned for our meal order again in a rush I would of understood if they were busy but there was just us and another couple and all the time we were there only one takeaway order.The waitress returned with our food and said enjoy your meal still no cutlery and napkin and had to ask her for them which she grabbed from the next table and dumped them on the table and we waited again for plates so we could start.The mixed starters were tasteless and over cooked and the mains when it arrived were passable but the sticky rice was still hard in the middle uncooked I had to go to the kitchen to find the waitress. It was changed and we ate the meal.All in all a waste of £45. We had to take the bill and the money to the bar as we were again waiting for any sign of a waitress.Needless to say we will not waste our time or money on this restaurant as the service is appalling and the food only just edible.Mr Midge

We went to this restaurant for the first time as had been recommended by a friend. We arrived only to be asked to take a seat in the waiting area. We were not asked if we'd like a drink. After some time of waiting, we were ushered to our seats. Still not asked if we wanted a beverage and no menu to look at. After some time of waiting, I asked if you could have a drink and the menu. There were only 2 staff on for a busy restaurant and they were doing their best, but it was far too long to wait and there were other people complaining.When the food finally arrived it was very good.If they had more staff and the service was improved, then it would be a good place to visit.

I recently visited the Thai Restaurant with my mum, we were greeted and made very welcome. We skipped straight to main course and it tasted beautiful, full of flavour. We were extremely pleased with our food and the quality of service.

Visited on the off chance when in area and so pleased we did. Doesn't look great for the outside nor are the fittings inside modern or luxurious but please ignore that as the food is beautiful.A wide choice of dishes, well cooked with a bit of heat and fresh flavours. Red hot when servedService is great, so friendly and helpful and will guide you if you are not sure. Just lovely

Nothing was to much trouble with the menu or food descriptions and when our choices came they were fully of flavour that takes you straight to the orient starters mains and desserts were all really good would recommend a visit

We were staying up the road in Sculthorpe at a holiday cottage and pre booked this restaurant for the Saturday night. There were 14 of us so we booked a good month in advance.We were made very welcome and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was lovely, and presented nicely. We all had a great meal and would definitely visit again if we are in the area

I went yesterday night to have dinner with a friend.The food wasn't the best Thai food in my life but was flavoured and the place was very nicely decorated. The two waitresses who served us were super nice.The prices very reasonable.I think I will come back.

Had planned a week beforehand to have a Thai takeaway with my friend but when we phoned to order we were told they were too busy for any takeaway orders so I asked if we could eat in instead, they found us a slot at 8.20.When we arrived you could see the two ladies waiting on were extremely busy, we were shown to our table and there was a fair wait before our drinks order was taken, and quite a wait for our drinks but as you could clearly see the girls were run off their feet, we didn't mind. We both had chicken satay to start which was absolutely delicious, the chicken was so juicy and lovely. For main courses we had Bangkok chicken, pad thai, ribs, green chicken curry and rice (We ordered way too much!) it was all beautiful and so tasty. I think they would really benefit from an extra member of staff, maybe someone was off sick or on holiday. Not everyone would have been so understanding about the slow service, we really didn't mind it though!Will definitely be returning !

Arriving in the evening, restaurant was busy obviously means it's popular. Staff are very friendly. Meals were cooked to order, nice and fresh- we enjoyes our meals in nice atmosphere. We will recommend this to our friends and family when they next visit Norfolk. We will definitely be back when we next visit this town.

My partner and I decided to pop in to Fakenham's Thai Resturant for a seat meal for lunch. The weather was miserable so the food was perfect for spicing up a dull day. Our set lunch includes a nice choice of starters, mains and rices. The the food was delicious as always, good priced and quick service.

Soggy noodles and were tasteless. Green curry ok. Noodles took ages to arrive after I got my green curry. It's understaffed so if you want something you may have to wait a while as it's quite busy

I went out for a family New Years Eve meal, the restaurant was decorated lovely for Christmas and I really liked the xmas crackers and party whistles on the tables, it was a special touch. We ordered a variety of delicious food, which was well cooked and served in a lovely manner. The service from the staff was great, they are so very kind and thank for you hitting the new year off with a good start.

Absolutely awful service and the worst Thai meal we have ever eaten. Obviously understaffed and too busy dealing with take away food to cater for its restaurant customers with everyone being kept waiting for an unacceptable length of time. Very unprofessional and we certainly will not be returning ever with much better Thai places in the area.

I have been her many times over the years, often on Fakenham's market day.The staff are sweet as can be and the lunchtime special extremely good value for money with a wide vegetarian option, seafood options, spicy or unspiced.Always served fresh cooked and with a sweet smile

The two of us were visiting the area and ate here on a Saturday evening since of the two pubs in the area one had stopped serving food by that point and the other was a Wetherspoon's. The Thai looked busy from the street and we decided to try it and we were not disappointed.We were shown to a table quickly and we did not mind the wait between courses, etc., as it made for a relaxing evening and suggested that the food was being cooked to order. When it arrived it was delicious and packed with fresh flavours. We had two starters, two mains - one beef and one excellent tofu - as well as a rice dish and two beers for under thirty-five pounds. I would recommend this restaurant and would happily come here again myself to sample more of the varied menu.

A lovely warm welcome from pleasant staff, the food was delicious, full of flavors and very filling. The atmosphere was relaxed and cosey, I would definitely commend to friends and family for a wonderful evening meal.

Relaxed atmosphere and service, thats' what it is not fast food, our meal was very good with subtle flavours and done to a turn (I had the Chicken with Ginger and stir fried vegetables with oyster sauce). Best pound for pound value I have had in ages.We are definitely going back and will recommend this place!

We have eaten here and used as a takeaway and always enjoyed the food. Usually have a beer while waiting and are given very good prawn crackers which is a nice touch.

Had an excellent meal - fresh ingredients, great flavours, many dishes to choose from - very reasonable prices. Friendly and efficient service. Although only a visitor to the area, will return when next visiting.

Warm welcome whether local regular or first time visitor. Authentic and relaxing atmosphere with food cooked freshly to order so time should be duly allowed not least to savour on arrival at your table.. Family run and friendly and efficient staff who ensure you are made to feel welcome. Candle lit at your table but equally suitable for romantic dinners or family gatherings. Advance booking advisable and appreciated if larger parties or visiting at weekends.Takeaway service also available.

Situated on the first floor of an old building, the restaurant has a certain atmosphere enhanced by the Thai trappings. Entry to the first floor is via a steep staircase and therefore unsuitable for the seriously disabled - which is a pity.The greeting was warm, the drinks good, the pre-meal crackers were present, and the menu comprehensive, with chilli strengths to suit all tastes. We had a variety of dishes both meat and rice and all were good and more than we could manage. The starters were delicious - recommend the mixed starters for 2+ people. Desert was for us banana fritters which could have been served with a syrup and as such were a bit of a disappointment.Service was extremely pleasant, the coffee was good and we would certainly return on a future occasion.

Generally, just not great. There were no prawn crackers whilst I waited and overall the atmosphere was less than inspiring. However, in Fakenham, I'd still go back!

When arriving at the restaurant we were greeted with a smile feeling very welcome and showed to the table where our candle was lit. The atmosphere was lovely, food was bought to our table quickly and was absolutely delicious, great flavours and colours. Would defiantly recommend and be visiting again.

Fairly unassuming establishment with very friendly staff. The food came fairly quickly and was served with a smile. Everything tasted very authentic and was really tasty. A bit of a hidden gem really!

On walking into this restaurant I wondered if we had made the right choice. It was quite dull in need of a refurbishment and quite lacking in staff. A nice lady, traditionally dressed, showed us to our table, it was early evening and had only a few diners. The tablecloth was marked with an oil stain and the cutlery seemed like it had seen better days. I was wondering if the food would be disappointing as first impressions were not great, however, we were pleasantly surprised. The food was cooked well and presented nicely and had an authentic taste. The down side was that service was quite slow. There were two waitresses who were rushed off their feet serving drinks at the bar as well as at tables, serving food and taking orders which was also slow to arrive. The waitresses were very nice and apologised for waiting times for drinks and food. This could be a better restaurant if the management employed more staff and brightened the place up. I felt quite sorry for the young girl serving us and many other tables as the restaurant filled up. I wouldn't say that I would not return but it wouldn't be the first choice on my list.

We were not expecting to find a Thai restaurant in Fakenham so were quite surprised.The starters were lovely. Cooked perfectly and very tasty.The mains, however, were a little disappointing. Both dishes were very watery which took away a lot of the flavour.

The service was the worst I have ever had! The food was slow and it tasted rubbish! What a waste of money! So angry right now!!!

I went with a friend for a nice local meal, or so I thought, I am gluten free but not coeliac I asked for the same meal I had last time which they made me gluten free only to be told this time it was not, ok was not I'll so no problem, if the waitress came back 6 times to check my food choice I would not be exaggerating the food was bland and boring, and very expensive poor service and the place smelt damp!! Do not recommend this to anyone even if not gluten free!!!

Had an excellent meal on New Years Eve.....really good food, cooked very well....lovely flavours....staff excellent, very welcoming and made a fuss of the kids.....will return.

with 3 small girls who profess to being unwilling to try new foods it was great that the variety of the set lunchtime meal meant all enjoyed it, and the middle one is pestering us to go back

Always a delight to return to the Taste of Thai in Fakenham. Very friendly welcome and the food is delicious. You might have to wait a bit with everything cooked to order but be patient as it's well worth it. Always very tasty and served with a polite smile with very reasonably prices. Above Holland and Barrett in the market place with the entrance just down the side you won't be disappointed. Well done to all the staff - from the Garrods

Freshly cooked food,very tasty full of flavour. Love it. Warm, friendly atmosphere, will definitely recommend to all my friends.

really good food - been their twice, first time there ws one other table and the wait was horrendousthen yesterday ordered a take away - was told it would be in an hours time - got there in an hours time and waited 15 minutes. there were two tables with people sitting at them.- but a very nice room and place to wait....

We were slightly sceptical after reading some reviews but we shouldn't have worried, the restaurant itself is very authentic and the food was absolutely delicious, we had a number of dishes and shared as a group, everything tasted lovely. The only thing is that, at peak times, you might have a bit of a wait as there does only seem to be one waitress! Worth a visit though, we will be back!

We came here because we were staying on the North Norfolk coast on a bank holiday weekend and had forgotten to book a restaurant for the Sunday evening. Everywhere was busy so we ventured inland. Fakenham is a quiet market town (especially on a Sunday evening) and there was very little going on. We decided to try this restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised. They were very friendly, the service was good and the Thai curry (I had vegetable, my partner had chicken), was totally delicious. It wasn't fine dining - but it didn't pretend to be. It was just what we needed, and very reasonably priced.

After seeing reasonable reviews on Tripadvisor and on the way back to our hotel, we decided to try this Thai restaurant. Situated down an unusual side street, we travelled up the steep flight of stairs not really knowing what to expect. On arrival, we had to stand around for quite a while before anyone acknowledged our existence, whilst the waitresses were talking amongst themselves behind the bar. Once finally seated, we were left to our own devices with no menus or offer of drinks for at least 5 minutes. One waitress finally told us that she would bring us a menu, which never happened. During this time, other tables were being seated around us, and were given prawn crackers and their drinks orders being taken. We finally received one menu between us after asking, when another waitress was going to bypass our table and hand menus to a group of diners who had just arrived. After a further 10 minutes of being ignored, we eventually got up and walked out, and tried a different Thai restaurant down the road, which turned out to be a completely different experience to this. Never again!

I ate here with a customer and had the two course lunchtime special which for £5.85 a head was excellent.Good service, nice atmosphere.Restaurant is approached by a steep and narrow staircase so I would contact them first if this poses a problem.

upstairs rooms, warm and well-furnished. A lot of people but good space standards.Food good Staff friendly, however speed of service lacking. With a party of three it would have been nice to have all got our food together and many other tables suffered from this.I would give it another go but it probably needs another waiter at peak times

We visit family in Fakenham frequently and have eaten here several times and had a take-away. Each time we have been delighted with our meal. The waitresses were kept busy when we visited but nothing was too much trouble for them.

The staff were very pleasant and couldn't do enough. Food was fresh and well presented. Great for a little place like Fakenham to have a good Thai restaurant.

This restaurant provides the least authentic Thai cuisine I have ever the misfortune to eat. It's hard to be negative about Thai food because even when it's not that good, it's still better than most other cuisines. But Taste of Thai managed to achieve an absolute zero for flavour, presentation and authenticity. Awful. Compounded by the hurried, almost frantic service when there was no apparent need as we were the only ones in there. The efforts expended to make the restaurant look like a Thai setting only made the situation more pitiful. Plus it reeked of must and damp. There are other Thai restaurants in the area that provide an altogether better experience and put this one to shame.

Have never eaten in Fakenham before, but very pleased to find a charming Thai restaurant! Cosy interior, very good service. The portions are a great size not too big or small. The food is all cooked to order. I would go back!

You'll have to go a very long way to find a better value lunch spot than Taste of Thai. 2 Courses of freshly cooked, delicious Thai food for £5.50 !Restaurant decor is old school Thai with lots of pictures of the king. We came here last Monday for lunch...with a friend who uses it often...mainly take aways..the decor is most interesting...lots to see...the service was fine and we enjoyed the variety of the dishes that we had chosen...with a lot of advice from the friendly member of staff. On our next visit to Fakenham, we will surely come and sample the the lunch menu again.
