Taste of Thai in North Norfolk

Unfortunately we went when they were understaffed which meant a delay but the food was good and not expensive

Food was delicious! Pork dumplings very tasty, Green duck curry was full of vegetables and served super hot! Would 100% recommend

Just tried this place a visitors to the area. The food was amazing. Chunky bamboo pieces, soft beef, tasty egg fried rice. The prawn sweet chilli starter was awesome. We had drinks while we waited for our food. Such good kind service and lovely vibe. Very very good food.

This was our first time dining at this restaurant. We loved it. The food was delicious and the menu choice was great with some unusual Thai dishes available. The staff were very welcoming and all the staff were friendly and professional. Best to book as very busy.

Absolutely delicious food. This is definitely the best restaurant/takeaway in Fakenham, and we'd recommended it to anyone. We'll be back!

After being away at university this was my granddaughter's first choice of restaurant. We had a delicious meal , great service & lovely atmosphere. Look forward to returning soon.

Have been too Fakenham many times, but was my first time going too this Thai restaurant. Lovely service and delicious food . That was hot and fresh.

Had a lovely meal for one at Taste for Thai tonight. Lovely ribs and prawns for starter. Main was great also with garlicky and black pepper chicken and coconut rice! Just what I needed after work. Bless you

Another delicious meal tonight at this restaurant which has always been one of our favourites. The staff are very friendly and helpful and we always enjoy the quality and value for money. We highly recommend and will be back again soon.

Terrible, just had a meal with me wife last and we couldn’t eat it. Food was disgusting, cooked in dirty fat. Veg was soggy. Meet tuff. Service was ok apart from when I told the owner the food was bad his only reply was “well that’s shocked me” basically cost me £70 for an uneaten meal. Avoid at all cost!!!

I've eaten a lot of Thai food but this is always a cut above the rest: good, homely cooking and the service is friendly. We always eat there, or get a takeaway when we're in Norfolk. Recommend highly the Beef Massaman, the Yellow Curry and Green.

I went there not first time already but never left a review before even enjoyed food all the time. We ordered sweet&sour and ginder fish for collection tonight. Fish was delicious and melted in the mouth. Service like always very polite, smiley and friendly. Definitely the best thai restaurant in town.

Booked with high hopes, we usually travel to Thursford Crawfish however thought we would give a taste of Thai a try and sadly will not be returning. Both service and food were way below expectations. Food wasn’t very hot, sent one of the starters back to be heated up, Mains again were not very hot and lacked taste, portions were on the small side. A shame as the restaurant its self is very nicely decorated and positioned in a good spot of Fakenham.

Nice place. Worth a visit if you're in the area. Great service. We all enjoyed our food.

My favourite place to eat when I’m in Fakenham. The most amazing food, think I’ve tried most of the menu. The staff are very friendly and efficient. I always get a warm welcome when I visit. The only downside is accessibility is limited as you have to go up a steep staircase.

We saw it on line.we were on a buisness trip.We phoned in & got a lovely table for 2 .Service was great the meal was delicious & the surroundings were so authentic I thought I was back in Thailand .It was a lovely end to our 2 day trip. Would definitely recommend 💕

Really nice food, possibly slightly bigger servings needed. Service was a bit haphazard, with it being difficult to work out which server was responsible for what, but quite fast.

Excellent food, beyond our expectations. All fresh, great for vegetables, all dishes we had were very tasty, the green chicken curry was light and perfect. Some criticisms: the menu has too many things, it offers 10 different sauces each with a choice of various meats. Come on, cook, surely you know what the best sauce is to have with duck or pork. Be more confident in your tastes. Wine list is weak, I’d suggest they get some advice and it would be perfect (my recommendations is to have a dry Riesling and a Chenin Blanc). Impressed, overall

Loved it great food and service

We hugely enjoyed our visit. We've eaten in a lot of Thai restaurants and our mains were among the nicest we've had and the ladies running the restaurant we lovely.

Booked a table for 8 pm, actually sat down at 9pm. We ordered a set menu and did not get half of what was on it. Utter chaos!!

I absolutely LOVE this place. I live in fakenham and I go here all the time. My favourite restaurant definitely. The food is amazing, lovely music, beautiful decor and very kind staff. I recommend going here it's absolutely fantastic.

Very good family Thai had here on a Thursday night. We didn't book, but there were plenty of tables. Food was great, delicious and authentic. Service good too, although the bottled beer wasn't cold enough and there was nothing on draught.

We really enjoyed the meal and service. The food was delicious, we could taste the real Thailand’s food. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We have successively been coming for many years.

Had a takeaway from here. Friendly service and very comfortable waiting area. Had chicken satay and Pad Tai. Delicious and fresh ingredients. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I rarely leave reviews, but felt I had too having seen a couple of bad comments. We could not find a fault with anything and the price is so reasonable. The spring roles where as good as we have tasted anywhere (including in Thailand). In fact every dish we ordered was great, authentic and really well presented/tasty. Fully recommended and we will be back, just so pleased we tried it out and suggest you do if you like Thai food and friendly service.

Another lovely meal at the Taste of Thai. Service is always very friendly and all the thai food freshly cooked to order. Its delicious. Good prices and convenient in the Market square.

Very quiet, clean and presentable. Medium pricing but good sized portions so good value for the money. Access is via quiet steep stairs to the side down a small alleyway.

Fabulous Thai food and a gracious hostess. I hope that more people go there to support this little gem. We can’t go to Thailand right now but this brings a bit into the heart of Norfolk.

Delicious takeaway Thai food. Catered to our group's varying requirements with no fuss, and produced excellent, fresh, vegetarian Thai dishes that were devoured by all from age 4 to 74!

Very expensive for what it is. Possibly the worst Thai meal I've had; greasy, stodgy, poor quality meat. The staff are pleasant and attentive but sadly the food is just horrible.

Delicious meal and lovely friendly staff.

Stood at bar for 5 minutes before anyone realised we were there, ordered food which came quickly however, once we got our food we didn't see anyone until they came to take our plates 20 minutes later, they then brought mains straight away and again, no one to be seen, you can however hear lots of talking coming from the kitchen, took our plates away and then no one, waited 15 minutes then went to the bar and ask for the bill then had to go looking for someone again 10 minutes later, only 1 other table occupied in the restaurant. Food was very nice but the service was very disappointing, we would probably had 2 extra drinks and coffee if they'd have been attentive, i wouldn't recommend or go back

The meals are so delicious. Especially served by the lovely Mođ. Who always has a smile for everyone. Such a lovely lady.

We came with our family members and young kids, had fantastic starters and main course. Children loved it. Can discuss suitable dishes for children which they can enjoy. The restaurant has a lot of space to accommodate from couple dining up to group parties and we didn’t have to be asked to leave at specific time. So we took time especially when with children. Staff are helpful and friendly. Environment is peaceful and calm which is suitable, great view of town. Will always return on family’s special occasion. Thank you restaurant staff for looking after us.

Best food in Fakenham by a mile

We popped in here without reservation early evening. A warm welcome followed and we stir fried mains which were nice and hot and very tasty. Simple desserts finished the meal off well. Prices are mid - range in my opinion but you get lovely surroundings, attentive and pleasant service and lovely tasty food.

Food was hot and apart from the noodles which were somewhat bland, it all had great flavour. Service did take a while, but all the staff were very polite and friendly.

We dropped into this restaurant without booking on a Saturday evening and finding it almost full, we expected to be turned away.However, the delightful Thai member of staff rearranged a couple of the tables and accepted us for dinner.The food was excellent and the service without fault.Well recommended.

I love thai food but sometimes it can be a bit on the expensive side compared to alternatives. Which is why at £5.99 the lunch menu here is unbelievable value for money. A choice of starter, a choice of main course and choice of rice, all served together is an excellent alternative to a soggy sandwich or an overpriced alternative. Yes, the stairs are steep and the surroundings could do with a revamp, but at prices like these, and food so good, who cares!?!?

First impressions when walking into this restaurant are of an old fashioned, dated restaurant. It’s not the most beautiful of surroundings, but it’s got character, and it grows on you.The food is a highlight.. we al had the mixed starter and it was really delicious. For the main course, the green curry is well recommended from me, but all the dishes were hot and tasty. Rice is served in huge quantities. 1 portion could easily serve 2 people.The service was a bit of a mixed bag. The staff were fantastically friendly, but not always easy to find. It was Saturday night when we went, and I think they were being asked to help with take away orders. The wine we ordered was both cheep, and delicious. It’s hard not to recommend.If your going out for a taster Thai meal with a group of friends it’s great. If however you are looking for something with more ambiance, you might find better elsewhere.We all had a great meal. And will be back.

Fantastic food and attentive staff

This review is aimed at the managers at the restaurant as my partner and I visited on a Friday evening which of course the restaurant was really busy and there were only two people serving as one apparently was off sick.We ordered a set menu for 2, however the wait inbetween each course meant that after being there for 2 hours we only mananged to get served 2 of the courses and left before the last course was served because the wait was far too long. As I say this was not fault of the 2 ladies serving as the restaurant was full and they cannot be serving, drinks and food and making the eating experience as it should be as they were just too busy. The food was fine it was just the slow service that let this place down and it is a shame as a lovely venue serving authentic tasting food.

We called in on a lunchtime as we fancied a Thai but found it to be bland and full of veg, totally unrelated to Thai cuisine.

After walking past this restaurant so many times we decided to make an impromptu visit.Greated by a friendly member of staff who was dressed in traditional thai regalia. The decor was a bit dated... but great views overlooking fakenham town centre.We ordered starters main course, which was timely served wasn't overly impressed with any of the dishes and not really living up to our previous experiences of other thai restaurants.... the only dish we liked was the seafood sizzler. Think we will in future well continue to walk past the taste of thai and maybe visit one of the other local thai restaurants that seem to pay a bit more attention to the cooking and presentation

Authentically decorated restaurant and all the staff wore traditional Thai clothes. The menu had lots of choice, the food came quickly and tasted great. The environment was intimate for couples, but there were a couple of tables with small groups and it worked well and created a nice atmosphere without being intrusive. Staff very pleasant and efficient. A nice little find in North Norfolk!

I was happy to find that this little restaurant is able to cater to gluten free people. I went in and ordered a takeaway and explained to the lady taking my order that I am gluten free. She was very helpful and understanding, and ensured that the chefs didn't add any soy sauce or other gluten containing ingredients to my food.

We had the set two course lunch which was a really good price, although you do get served both courses on a tray

Ordered a take away for collection and it took almost 2 hours, when finally collecting it they missed out two dishes that we ordered and paid for. The pad Thai was so bland and over cooked and the Panang curry was so watered down and under seasoned

The food was delicious and in a nice setting. The dishes were bulked out my tinned new potatoes which wasn't great but they had absorbed the flavour. Service was good. Couldn't believe how cheap it was.

Found this nice little restaurant by chance on market day took a chance and WOW , We were seated very quickly drinks arrived really fast ,We both ordered set lunchtime meals they arrived very prompt and tasted really great would definitely recommend it.

The food prices were very reasonable for the quality of food you get and the portions. The food tasted amazing and the service was also top rated. The deserts in offer are also not to be missed.

We visited based on the reviews here and overall were happy with our experience. Some of the food we ordered was great, some not so great. We've been to Thailand and eaten Thai in many countries, plus have a Thai family member so like to think we know Thai food! Great Panang curry, chicken Satay needs more Satay sauce. Pad Thai was quite bland, we wondered if the sauce had been forgotten. Staff were very friendly and service was good too.

Food was really nice and staff are very friendly. One of the best authentic Thai food around. I did a long drive to get to this restaurant but the food was totally worth it. The decor of the place and the music makes it such a warm place to enjoy your meal!

Ordered takaway for 4 and was not dissapointed. Had to wait a while but it was worth the wait. Would return.

We come here nearly every week and absolutely love their food. We've always had great service from the lovely blonde waitress and the food is excellent, give it a go, lovely atmosphere too.

Beef and sticky rice, the sticky rice came in an individual steamer basket inside was a sweaty plastic bag that housed the rice,obviuosly straight from the microwave. The rice slid out of the bag in a gluppy mass which I speared with my fork and raised the entier lump above my plate, if it had slipped the plate would have been in pieces. The beef was typical indistinguishable peices of probably steamed under extreme pressure to make it yield. The beef sat miserably amongst a ladle of house stock which was sickly sweet tasting neither fragrant nor floral. In a vain attempt to personalize a solitary sliced carrot floated a top- with serarrrated edges. Waitress asked if ok, I stabbed and raised the offending mass of rice and asked if she would eat this at home? She said yes and have I never had sticky rice before? I paid what I valued it and left. Never again.

Very average food. Wine arrived already opened (usually means they filled it form the cheap plastic cask bought in France. Service was good though from a very pleasant young lady. Doubt we will be using it again.

Every time I go there the food is always amazing. The atmosphere is pleasurable. The food with amazing in the restaurant and the takeaway is just as good. The staff is very efficient and take great care of everyone and makes sure we are happy.

My first visit to this restaurant was with my wife on our wedding anniversary. Our evening meal was so tasty that we promised to take our sons there for a lunch. Accordingly, on one of the rare occasions that our sons both had the day off from their employment, we drove to Fakenham and sampled the set lunch menu.

I have been a long time regular customer. I would honestly say I and my family always have been coming to this restaurant not only on special occasions but also when I have visitors. I have never been disappointed with the way things are in regards to service and meals despite whatever bad comments people made. There were some busy times that we had to wait but it was worth it, We have always been recommending this place to our friends and colleagues.

Always lovely to go back to our favourite Thai Restaurant in North Norfolk, the entrance is in a hidden alleyway but never hard to find if you follow your nose. Comfy seating with great view overlooking the village square. Food is nice, all served with candle food warmers Portion is good and taste is authentic and fantastic! If you want to impress the others with your parting skills, try to share the sticky rice!!!

This has to be o e of the best Thai restaurants that I have been to outside of Thailand. Friendly staff pleasant atmosphere, great food. What more could you ask for except, maybe, someone special to share it with.
