The Bamburgh Pub Restaurant in South Tyneside

Bamburgh is great, staff are friendly and welcoming. Clean and tidy, especially like it because it’s dog friendly. Food is good value for money and offers are good.

Midday lunch - place was virtually empty but food took forever to arrive and was way pricier than the Fountain which apparently is the same company plus beer charge was astronomical. No-one came to ask if we were satisfied or not and we still felt hungry on leaving

The food quality is good but l think was better a couple of years ago

I ordered hunters chicken when it arrived under the sauce the chicken was over a third solid fat most unpleasant as was the bacon on top which I left the chips and vegetables were ok but for the first I left a restaurant after a meal still feeling hungry I’m sorry that was my first visit I’m afraid I won’t be returning

I had a vegan meatball marinara ,it was nice ,a good price

Extremely busy, struggled to sit - didn't spoil it as was due to the great north run. Service was reasonably quick and friendly staff.

A lovely family pub with good food, reasonably priced drinks, great quiz nights and friendly staff. Would highly recommend to everyone.

We had a lovely meal and there was a quiz a raffle and a game of bingo on so it was very busy. You are allowed to take your dogs in but not on the carpeted part. The prices were average and The service was excellent and the service was spot on. We definitely recommend that you give them a try.

First time here for a family lunch! Was lovely and clean inside, spacious with brilliant views. 5 of us had varying meals, which were all lovely. The lovely bar lady with the glasses and blond hair was absolutely lovely! Had a lovely chat with her whilst ordering! Sorry I didn’t catch your name. But you’re right the hot honey flatbread was incredible!! Would defo return!

Driven by this place quite a few times and decided to drop in. Little bit disappointed 😞. It could do with a paint as it looks a bit sorry for itself. We ordered food. Included was a vegetarian option. Was served chicken. We did report straight away and it was managed very well. It's potential is huge with stunning views but, just needs updating

We booked a family celebratory meal at the Bamburgh on Monday for 21 people. Full marks to the staff involved. The service was prompt and friendly. The quality of the meals was good and at very acceptable prices. Highly recommended.

Service was fabulous as always. Beer spot on. Food lovely. Great pub.

Bamburgh right on the South Shields seafront, great pub, lots of space, nice staff with nice foodand a short walk to South Shields leas nice walk along the cliff with or without dogs. A great place to start and come back too. It's on the bus route too so easy to get to from Sunderland too and opposite where the Great North Run finishes too. Worth a visit

My wife is gluten free, and Green King pubs offer a gluten free menu. We had a great meal a week or so ago in Newcastle so thought we would try this one. My wife had a steak with jacket potato, and I just had a light bite of salt and pepper chicken strips. Unfortunately the steak had more gristle in it than meat, and my chicken strips were normal not salt and pepper, just came with some peppers and onions on them. It would have been nice to offer our feedback but no one came to clear our plates? Even when we left the plates were still on the table??

It's an ok local, sky TV and the usual pub grub.

I love the place great staff and venue for a quick drink or even with the family brilliant as you can even bring your fur babies too. Only thing needs more vegetarian options #pickyvegetarian.

We had Lunch meal deal for £7.49 that includes a lunch dish,chips and drinks (only softdrinks and beers) Available Mon- Sat @ 12pm till 5pm. For two (2) adults, we only spent £15.13 - which is very reasonable price yet the quality of foods and service is very much value for money. And all staff are very attentive and accomodating too. Meals of Steak and Cheese, Sweet Chilli Chicken. I love the hospitality of Drew, Gillian, Sarah and the rest of staff.

Great place to visit with views of the coast. Staff super friendly and helpful and our fish was fantastic.

Popped in thinking there would be great views and the pub chain was one we were familiar with. The Bar person spilt lager all over my partner at the bar flinging the pint a little too enthusiastically and he was soaked. He asked for meat on the mixed grill to be well done and it all came out undercooked and practicaly still breathing, he politely asked for it to be cooked longer and all the meet came out half the size and nuked. Id practically finished my meal. We could hear the bar staff shouting to the kitchen 3 times "you do realise we need a chef here dont you?" Not great. My pie and chips was lovely, except for the soggy bottom. Staff did ask if everything was OK and apologise, but we'd lost the will to live by that time. Ate and left. Overall not the greatest experience.

Inexpensive for eating and drinking. Parking is not good so you are better off parking in the street. Probably above 3 star but not quite up to 4 star. I'd definitely go again.

Nice location as right by the sea front. Unfortunately waited over an hour for food, despite saying 40mins. Wouldn't be a problem if the food was nice, but it was disappointing. Too salty, dry, not hot, just didn't taste good. I often go to greene king pubs, this one just didn't hit the spot. At least staff are nice and it's dog friendly but I wouldn't come for food again.

Well Recermended the Bamburgh was not, Disappointed meal quality service excellent would certainly go back in the future , I would recommend a visit.

What a lovely surprise. Expecting a decent mid week pub tea and instead got a couple of gorgeous meals. He had gammon, I had pie and we enjoyed both meals. Lovely friendly helpful staff. Clean and cosy eating and drinking areas. Sea view!

Popped in for tea with Mam tonight. The guy behind the bar was so lovely and attentive from entering to leaving. Service was first class, food was lovely and, it was hot. Definitely recommend.

My partner and I decided to come to the Bamburgh for New Years Eve and we were not disappointed, we ordered 5 small plates which were delicious and even had room for dessert, it was a nice atmosphere and the staff were great as usual, we really enjoy coming to this pub, thank you for a lovely evening.

Lady on the bar yvonne was quick to acknowledge us as soon as we walked into the building very quick service with the drinks and directed us to a table overlooking the coastal view. We returned to bar to order food and the same lady was lovely and very good at recommending extras. When leaving a very pleasant goodbye. Well done on lovely seevice we will be returning.

Christmas fayre menu, absolutely fantastic, lovely turkey, and a fantastic cheese board, table decorated beautiful, a great get together with the girls and fantastic service from the staff. Highly recommended!

Went today for our Christmas fayre what can I say wonderful from start to finish soup for husband prawn cocktail for myself both has Christmas dinner with all the trimmings then Christmas pudding, complements to the chef & we had the most polite & caring waitress nothing was too much trouble for her sorry I didn't get her name Kyle she is a credit to your team & we even had our favourite table number 19 merry Christmas to you all from Brian and Norma xx

Driving along the coast approaching my favorite location noticed surrounded by scaffolding "Agh it's closed I thought" however it was business as usual doors open and a warm welcome from Kyle the Manager Xmas decorations were fabulous really eye catching displays surrounded the whole area after placing our order the food was promptly served my brother had Chicken Pie I myself had a Seniors Choice which includes dessert in the deal and was quite ample my favourite Fish and chips and Brownie Dessert We were checked on during our stay and asked if we required anything else A great establishment all round

Had a b’day buffet lunch for 20. The staff were great and food very generous/great quality. The location across from the sea is excellent, parking is tricky but lots of on road parking. Thanks to the staff for making it a great afternoon. Plus it is dog friendly.

An excellent Halloween breakfast. Food was lovely and staff very helpful. Children loved the pumpkin carving and all received sweets which was an unexpected treat!

Went with my grandchildren for hallowe’en party. They had a great time, breakfast and pumpkin carving. I myself had a breakfast it was delicious. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Would highly recommend it, Thank you everyone

One of my favourite Green King establishments - the photo is of the mixed grill, gammon was a little oily but otherwise lovely! No disabled access in the front, but round the back you can easily get in.

Nice pub good location…. But a little expensive

We were told food would be a 30min wait. Came within 15mins. Food came piping hot, great portion. Sadly didn’t get a photo but had a mixed grill. Better than the new crown down the road. I like the optional seniors menu too - something you don’t often see. Will definitely be coming back!

Very good food, tasty and well cooked, backed up by good polite and quick service. Very very full when there. Every table was occupied, mind you the Great North Run was being setup at the time, so this more likely counted for the full restaurant.

As always, great little pub with cracking service and lovely food on offer. Great management, well worth a visit !!

I feel that as there are limited bays for motorhomes overnight parking. It may be more benificial to both them and yourself if after 6 pm when car park closes that said car park could be utalised for more overnight Motorhome parking and then re open as a car park at 0800 in the morning.

Food was amazing I had the katsu chicken

Excellent food and service as a coeliac I find eating out difficult but when I asked for a gluten free menu and this was sprayed and cleaned before handing it to me this made such a different that the staff understood. My order was brought out before the others that I was dinning with and for once I was able to relax and enjoy my meal. Praise should be given to the staff for their knowledge and understanding.

We had some Great British Pub Card vouchers to use on Father's Day, so The Bamburgh was perfectly placed to eat before a walk around The Leas with my family and dog. The food is fairly standard chain pub stuff, so nothing hugely special. You can take your dog inside on the non-carpeted areas or outside. The staff were friendly and the place is spacious and has plenty of seats with views out to the North Sea.

Got the small eats plates and the food came out quickly and was delicious! Great atmosphere too

Went to order steak, waiter not sure if they had any 6 o’clock on a Friday holiday night? They did have. Ordered wine no Malbec, no Rioja, ended up with some thin Italian. Meal arrived 1/4 tomato, on menu clearly states 1/2 tomato. Not sure trading standards would accept this. Waitress did volunteer to bring the other half. Wilted rocket Luke warm chips. There was a time you would not get seated at 6 on a Friday now lots of empty tables I can see why. Waitress did not know how to smile no customer service. Steak full of sinue. £14.99 not good value.

Nice place to sit and watch the world go by, didn't have food, but what was being brought out to other customers looked nice.

Kyle and the team always make sure you have a really comfortable and enjoyable time.

Fantastic views. Great staff. Food reasonable. Front area next to pool table a wee noisy. Rear area a bit quieter when all the football is not on. Great if you like football.

I must say the staff at the Bamburgh are the most attentive I have had the pleasure to come across; the atmosphere is that of a by gone era, a throw back to the days when the “pub” was quite literally the public house, a place for the community; and is this place you will that very feeling. My family really enjoyed their time here, they are more than happy with children, being children; while there is always a place for those who want a quiet drink. The food is excellent and extremely good value, while the location is second to none, it’s quite literally my favourite Pub. I can’t wait to venture here again. Thank you Kyle (the manger) and his staff

Visited this lunchtime was a good atmosphere ordered promptly at bar once seated Within a short wait our food was served which was splendid the service from Kate was excellent her professilism was a credit to the establishment With a smile she returned to check all was satisfactory which we informed her all was good we frequent this locality because it never fails to give you the welcome and good feel of wanting to return Well Done to you all

A day of 1 football and 2 rugby games. The bar was busy but due to the excellent service I never really had to wait for more then a minute to be served . The whole team behind the bar worked hard to ensure you never missed much of any of the games, The whole experience was too much and I will need to apologise for missing my booked table for the Cup final today, due to just being burnt out, sorry for letting you down Kyle.

Husband booked a table for Sunday lunch always table 19 husband had steak & ale pie with chips I had roast turkey with all the trimmings & a extra portion of buttered new potatoes OMG so good , been a few times & always a good meal lovely staff & nice drinks lovely clean pub would highly recommend

Thank you to Team Bamburgh for going above and beyond to make sure we have a great night. Excellent service throughout the year and when they were at their busiest over Christmas this didn’t stop. Moving tables around to accommodate our big party of family and friends. Food arrived very quickly which was delicious as always. I’d definitely recommend this pub.

We love coming to the Bamburgh. Staff and management are faultless and always go the extra mile and more! We regularly come as a couple and with family plus our dog absolutely loves being here and having a fuss made of him. 100% recommend to anybody 🤗!

There is always a welcome and the manager even makes the extra effort to know what you drink. Always a smile by all of the staff and better still, they are happy when my daughters German Shepherd (who is as soft as clarts) comes in.
