The Balti House Tandoori in Weymouth and Portland

My husband and I have been eating out at this restaurant for Many Many years when we go to Weymouth and we visit there at least 2/3 times a year and have never been disappointed, this visit again was fabulous food as always, staff was great and polite, we definitely recommend.

We got a takeaway from here. The food was good and the staff were pleasant. It was just what we needed after a long day. Thanks for the munchies.

The food was nothing special, we have had much better for less what we paid for on that night. The children could not order a child portion curry so we had to pay for a full Korma and other at £12.95 each and only 4 pieces of meat with plenty of sauce! Staff was not accommodating.

Smaller portions than last visit before Xmas but prices are not lower. Bland and lacking flavour. This place is not what it used to be - avoid!!

My partner and I have been eating here for over 10 years and there’s a reason why, because it’s absolutely amazing. The food is second to none and the service is fantastic. In this visit we decided to enroll our 6 year old daughter to the tradition and she loved it. A huge thank you to Shalim and his team and my personal thanks to the cooks who make this outstanding food. 👍 We shall be seeing you again soon.

All three of us said it was the best curry we've ever had. (All in our 60/70s and had a few curries) Each dish was flavoursome, not at all greasy, piping hot and good sized portions. One of us always has a madras as a benchmark when trying a new restaurant. It was a very high mark. All the sides dishes were excellent particularly spinach bhaji which was dry and their special mushroom and pea dish was delicious. All the staff were welcoming and attentive when needed. Minor comments - the restaurant was not at all busy but they sat us between two fairly loud tables. I would also suggest they allow people to settle in before asking for drinks order. Beware of small print on menu - minimum spend of £19 per person. We will definitely be going back.

This was a mixed experience the actual food itself was top notch, however the hosting was lacking, on arrival there was no record of our booking, the front of house lady was saying it wasn’t booked even though I had emails and texts confirming it and their own website showed us as having a booking and I had reconfirmed the booking earlier that day, we were hurriedly seated in an annexe that had no character or ambience to it whatsoever which was disappointing. Now the praise, the food itself was excellent quality, a varied menu all carefully explained there is a lot to choose from, the meal itself redeemed our initial experience, we tried all new dishes and were not disappointed at all, although be aware there are no desserts on offer. The service was prompt and efficient and the waiters were all attentive and friendly. We paid at the table and left as we passed by the front desk the lady host was talking to one of the waiters and didn’t look up or even acknowledge us to say thank you or goodnight as most restaurants would, I would have expected that as a minimum and although it’s a small thing it was an irritation. It was Valentines Day and they were busy, the service and food were excellent and we would return but they need to address the glitch in their booking system and refresh the host on her customer service skills.

Visited Shalims on a Saturday night with family as we live locally. The restaurant was quite busy even though early on. The staff are friendly and the restaurant has a nice ambiance, is well laid out & well decorated. The quality of the food is good however the portion size is quite small compared with other restaurants. That said, I think Shalims is still the best Indian restaurant in Weymouth!

Always enjoy the food at Shalims. Normally have a take away but decided to book and eat in tonight. Booking highly recommended - even at 18:30 when we arrived the restaurant was busy and continued to be so all night, with tables turning quickly Great range on the menu for all diets, traditional dishes and some different specials. We enjoyed the chana chat (chickpeas) and special kebab starter followed by the freedom 50 (jackfruit and spinach curry) and special masala for main. All dishes freshly cooked and very tasty. Service was friendly and efficient. Fantastic value for money.

At my 6 year old granddaughters request, I took our family there for a Friday night treat. Food was hot and tasty. Drinks were great too. Love their lager. Service was impeccable. Our go to place for an Indian. I highly recommend this restaurant 👍

This restaurant is superb. We have been there on several occasions (the last being on Christmas Eve) and have never been disappointed. The menu is varied and the food delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful and the ambience is warm and welcoming. The best Indian restaurant around.
