The Balti Express in Havant

Just had our first meal from here since opening under new management. Got to say it was absolutely delicious! We had lamb tikka dansak and chicken coconut fusion which were both very nice. The mushroom bhaji was really tasty. All of the food had lots of flavour, and was still hot even after walking the 5 minutes home. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the food was very reasonably priced compared to other takeaways, all in all a really good experience. Will definitely be eating here again. 👍🏼

Good food and nice service from all at the shop

the food is very basic, delivery and service cost £3.50 and the delivery time on a normal day is over 1.5 hours, in general I recommend other restaurants where it is not so expensive

The food was outstanding, under new management. It was made with so much Love. Fresh ingredients from popadums, light a crisp, bahjis wow and the curry was the perfect temperature for us. Ask and you will have exactly what you like. The chicken melted in our mouths. Flavours were amazing. New management, you won't be disappointed 🥰

If I could give minus stars I would. I ordered a delivery online, my £50 payment was taken but I got no food! After waiting an hour and a half after the expected delivery time, which was 45 minutes, and no answer or engaged tone on the phone I drove there to find the place closed up and in darkness. No sign on the door to explain why they were closed. Now I have to wait 7 days before I can raise a dispute with my bank to claim my money back and I had to spend another £50 on an alternative takeaway.

Ordered online at 7.35pm. Said delivery would be 40 minutes at 8.15pm. Tried ringing them 16 times. No answer. Now over 2 hours since order. Still no delivery. It closes in 15 minutes at 10pm. Not impressed at all. Very poor service. Won't be using them again.

Over 2 hour wait for delivery when told would be an hour. When chased order said didn't know when it would be delivered could offer refund but didn't know when we would receive it. Said we'll wait half hour later ring back up told should be 20 minutes but don't have 3 lamb tikka starter that we ordered & paid for so asked for them to be refunded & gave bank details. 45 minutes later food turns up (2 hour 15 minute total wait) then onion rice and yoghurt & mint dip missing. Rung up again & they said would refund. 3 days later still waiting for refund. Shame as been ordering for over 20 years but the customer service when issues arise is non existence and on a £65 order currently still waiting for at least £20 refund

Such a shame. First time with these and a treat for us. Food very late despite watching and waving at the driver as he turned around 3 times. Food cool at best. Wrong order in part. Wrong curry. Wrong side. Called shop to be told we got what we ordered. Just couldn’t be arsed to argue. Wont be repeating

Arrived hot and delicious as usual. Never disappointed

Chicken was a bit chewy. Overall quality of the food was just okay. Samosas were lovely. Missed the extra popadoms we ordered. Unfortunately will not order again.

Sadly, we had an awful meal from Balti. Very late. Items missing and what we were given was like the leftovers which is a shame as we’ve had many good meals. Probably won’t order again. Onion bhajis were inedible, mixed kebab was missing meat. £30 wasted.

Chicken tikka had a different appearance (yellow rather than red) and taste than I have had elsewhere. Pilau rice was quite lumpy/stuck together. All in all not unpleasant but disappointing.

Tika masala with pilar rice very watery and cold no taste you pay a lot of money to get a take away nowadays and expect it to be nice and enjoyable unfortunately most of this takeaway went in the bin

Unfortunately the driver must have been a smoker and made our takeaway smell of cigarettes. He went to the wrong area which delayed our order and arrived cold. The chilli chicken wasn’t spicy at all and lacked flavour. I had asked for there to be chillis in one of the naan breads as this wasn’t an option on their menu and it wasn’t carried out.

This is the second time we’ve ordered from Balti Express. The prawn cocktails are exceptional. Excellent curry’s, tandoori chicken. All the food was so tasty and nice and hot.

Much less sauce than usual, the korma is normally really saucy and tasty but there was do little sauce making the whole meal dry. I didn't finish mine.

Tasty as always, tender chicken and flavoursome sauce. Arrived hot and on time, can’t ask for more than that.

The food arrived within 30mins of ordering which is never a good sign as the food was clearly reheated and microwaved which is exactly what it was. The curry sauce and rice were watery and bland and chicken was so dry that it was grainy, again, signs it was reheated and microwaved. The chips were cold in the middle and hard on the outside so were clearly cooked well ahead of time. The naan’s again were microwaved and the cheesy naan did not even have real cheese like other Indian takeouts instead having processed cheese sandwiched inside and warmed though enough to just start melting. The only part we really enjoyed was the popadoms but at a staggering £1 each I would expect nothing less which goes to mentioned the price. This takeout charges more than most of the local renowned curry house restaurants. If you are going to charge restaurant prices for the food, I would expect at the bare minimum it to be made to order and the fact we ordered on a quiet Sunday evening really is no excuse to do so. Unfortunately, even if the food was fresh, the price you’re paying really isn’t justified with much better options available locally for cheaper prices. Avoid.

Not happy been waiting nearly 2 hours for my food where is it????

I phoned multiple times as it was late ordered at 7.20 delivery estimate 8.05-8.25 and kept being told out week come soon. I eventually drove and got it myself collecting after 9. I had already paid for delivery and I was given a can of coke to say sorry... don't bother.

Food was cold and the wrong curry was delivered

No ordered extra nan, and no shish kebab in the tandoori mixed grill. Also 1hr late. And cold.

Very disappointing- food arrived late and was Luke warm. Unfortunately it was also the worst curry I’ve ordered from restaurants in that area. All three main dishes were bland and the naan breads were stodgy. Definitely not ordering from the Balti Express again.

Can't fault the lamb in the curries, probably the most consistent tender meat I've had, vindaloo is a bit hotter than most places so maybe try a madras to start with, rice portions are good and come in the larger container as opposed to the trend of others in the area that serve their rice in the smaller containers, naan bread was very anemic and would hove benefited with staying in the tandoor for another 30 seconds. My only other gripe is that it has now become very expensive and is on the border of pricing its self out of the market.

Great food and service, the Jalfrezi sauce was very hot though.

Korma was lovely but makani chicken had cheese in when it hasn’t before, it ruined the curry and was inedible. It overpowered any spices that were put in the curry

You could tell this curry was all homemade and didn't contain any processed or frozen meats! Will order again.

Do not order from here food turns up wrong and cold and they are rude on the phone and can't even speak English if your going to work in this country at least learn to speak English or don't answer phones worse take away in Hampshire.

Ordered at 5.30 for a 7pm delivery. I called at 7.15 and told they were waiting for a driver. I then called back at 7.30 and was told the same, but they'd contact their driver. When I called back a 3rd time, I was rudely told "we're busy." Food arrived at 7.45 - no apology

Never used them, but keep sending me nuisance txt, reported to TPS and ICO. Avoid!

Delivery man was so rude. Disgusting food, it was delivered to me with the food spilled in the bag and the curry was so watery. The driver didn’t even come to the house, had to drive to him.

Food was warm. Keema nan is meant to have mince in it. Ours had a red paste. We ordered butter chicken. I don't know what was delivered but it was very very hot certainly not what we ordered. Won't order again

Love this place… food is always hot, tasty and delivered early. The only place we will order a curry from!!

Overall, good quality of food. Would have preferred Dhansak to be a little milder but not an issue with restaurant. Poppadoms were missing from order, but received refund from Just Eat. Would order from restaurant again.

They got the order wrong (missing items), then when we phoned to let them know they tried to tel us we hadn’t ordered them. Incredibly rude throughout. They returned 30 minutes later with the missing items, but incredibly rude again, making it out that it was our fault they messed up. Food is OK, but the customer service and the fact half of the food is cold means we’re not enjoying it now.

The egg fried rice was quite spicy an the korma was quite warm as well for such a mild curry

I order from Balti Express for many years now. So does most of my family. Balti Express are the best in every way.

Biryani, Tikka and saga aloo were really tasty but we found something that looks like fungus on the yellow condiment sauce, which makes it difficult to give you a high rating on food quality.

Have had food from here previously which was good but today the long prawn korma was not great. I actually couldn’t eat the prawns at all as they were dry and rubbery; they were not fresh at all. £7.50 wasted sadly.

Food received was poor. When cutting into the chicken it was pink in colour. One of the curries had spilled over everything in the bag ruining other items. All in all disappointed..... ended up throwing the food out and ordering elsewhere
