Lotus House in Havant

1st time and won’t be using a Chinese fish and chips place again. Chips were good…..battered sausage for sure was hours old and not crispy….. Cash only, so yeah…..not 2023 yet there.

The first time I ordered, it was ok. The second time, 6 hours after eating, I exploded both ends and 36 hours later, I still keep running to the bathroom. I do not recommend this place.

The chinese food is average at best. I only use the lotus house because it is a 2 minute walk from my house. Usually the food is not too bad. One of my favourite dishes (from any chinese) is a spring roll. All too often the spring rolls from the Lotus House are dripping (literally) with oil. On a couple of occassions I have had really good fish a chips from here. On others I have thrown the chips in the bin as they had been reheated too many times and were inedible.

Chinese and a fish and chip shop combined. Not bad food, about average, cash only, but I felt sorry for the owners as their main client base seemed disrespectful to them and rude.

Local Chinese owned mixed fish and chip shop/Chinese takeaway. Nothing special but everything is OK, prices not bad and the portions, particularly with regards to fish and chips are big. Staff always friendly

Previously we'd always gone to the New Golden Leaf for Chinese takeaway, but they decided to shut during the great 2020 pandemic and we had to find somewhere else. We're glad that happened, because we tried Lotus House and the food is delicious. Even now the other takeaways have re-opened we'll still drive that bit further for Lotus House. My children are particular fans of the chow mein, which is nice and moist and tastes great. We've done small orders and large orders here over the last 6 months and every time it's been good. We even get free prawn crackers every time!

We have used Lotus House many times over the last 8 years. The food is tasty and piping hot. Prices are very reasonable. I am not tempted to change to abother takeaway. Very happy to contibue my patronage.

Our favourite chippy and curry sauce to die for

Visiting family locally and needed a Friday treat for lunch. Even in difficult Covid times I was given a friendly welcome. Superb S&K pie with chips. I really enjoyed them Thankyou. If I lived here this would be my local go to takeaway. Thanks.

Nice food at good prices and even in these difficult times good friendly service

Horrible greasy old food. The fish was soaked in oil a bright orange oil slick when we opened the paper. The batter was really thick undercooked stodgy. Sausage in batter must of been cooked for days, couldn’t cut it with a knife and fork and the batter just shattered. Really poor show, would never use again!

Great value for money. No complaints. Excellent curry sauce.

Friendly staff plus good food at decent prices

Is great for fish and chips, had Chinese from here for the first time tonight, realy nice, no complaints and good value for money.

Live just round the corner and am a regular. I have no issue with them, but I only buy burger and chips. Chip portions are huge, even the normal serving. If you go for large, it means large. I buy and eat in the evening and skip breakfast the next day as the meal fills me up. Been there loads of time and have never had any problems. The only issue I can see, but it does not affect the food, is that the ceiling wiring in the customer part of the shop needs attention. Looks like it was done not by a qualified electrician, which I am. No not looking for work, just a comment. I always look at wiring everywhere I go.

Food good. A lot cleaner now. Value for money.

We used to always get our Chinese from here but we were so disappointed when we realised it had changed hands. We asked for mini vegetarian spring rolls but they forgot these. We then went back to get these and when we finally got home, we realised it was a giant spring roll with meat in. The sweet and sour sauce smelt like vinegar. My friend took one scoop of her chow mien only to find a long black hair in it. By that point we had really lost our appetite so we decided to contact the Lotus house to ask for our money back. On the phone they told us that they don’t have anyone that has long hair working at the takeaway so it must be one of ours, even though none of us have long black hair. We decided to go into the takeaway to show them and they continued to argue that this wasn’t their fault. We finally got our money back and went to the Lucky Star in Denmead instead which was lovely. Please don’t bother coming here, go to the Lucky Star instead 🙂

The previous owners suddenly sold up and left. It’s not the same. Service is a lot less personal and the discounts and free prawn crackers have all gone. Prices have increased and the food, supplier or way it is cooked is different. My favourite dish is no longer offered so menu has changed too. Food tasted ok but we won’t be regulars anymore that’s for sure.

Staff pleasant fish & chips tasted ok but a bit soggy

Was closed when it said it was open annoying because I was trying to get an elderly person her fish super and did not have time to go else where

So disappointing after trying this place for the first time. Mainly because we are having a party next week and wanted to order from somewhere that opens at lunchtime. So we thought we’d try it out first. Worst Chinese food we’ve eaten. I couldn’t even eat the chicken because it tasted disgusting. And even the rice wasn’t nice!

First of all you always get a warm welcome and a smile when you come here. Mae and Jack take the time to get to know you if you are a regular and if you come often enough you can be sure to get little extras. We always get free prawn crackers with our Chinese order. The portion sizes are great. My favourite dish is their mixed meat curry which I cannot get anywhere else. Food seems to be pre-cooked which is pretty standard which can alter the taste at times (I.e can be too greasy) but I never have any problems with it. Certainly the best in the area and although it’s not my closest I always go here over my local any day.
