Visited here a few times for drinks and the atmosphere has always been good. Great selection of spirits available, including lots of gins/rums. There is occasionally live music on a Friday or Saturday night, or they tend to show the sport of a major tournament is on - most recently the rugby! (we won't talk about that game...) Prices are what you'd expect from most pubs, so not overly expensive/cheap. There is an additional area upstairs that you can request to book of you're having a work event or just a large group of you turning up. Have never had a problem here. If the drinks prices mean you can't spend your whole evening here, there's always the Wetherspoons next door to get a few cheap rounds in.

Came here for some drinks with some friends and it was lovely! The service was quick, the drinks were amazing and the staff were very attentive and polite. Will definitely be coming back soon!

Don’t scrimp on this one! Definitely a gem up the top of town, well done!!

Went in for the first time in ages and still a great pub. Beer selection is great, always a proper pub atmosphere, and always a smile and a friendly greeting from the staff. Shame you don't seem to do food anymore as you were actually really good at that as well. But not to be put off coming here. The good folk of Basingstoke should appreciate this pub a bit more. Hope to be back soon

Hidden gem at the top of Basingstoke! Dog friendly, and a great range of drinks. Jay has really worked wonders with this pub from what it was before, and the addition of the seating out front is great for people watching

Jay enabled a large group of us to use the upper bar for a social function which went very well thanks to the friendly staff and management team. We'll definitely use the Bakers again for another family get together soon.

We drove 27 minutes off route to go for lunch here. We saw the menu and all picked what we wanted to order. We arrived and the women straight away told us children weren't allowed in. I said we only want food. She then stated they don't serve food. I said we've seen your menu online. She said this was incorrect and they don't serve food. The lady was very rude and was totally unnecessary.

Nice pub, happy hour 4-7pm Mon to Thurs.

One of the worst pubs I have ever been in. Was sitting upstairs (as it was quieter) having our drinks when we were approached by security. We were asked to move immediately as the manager wanted to close the seating area. Didn’t even get chance to finish drink as we were rushed to move! Not what I expect from a busy town centre pub on a Saturday night! Will definitely not be returning again!

My visit to the bakers was amazing. Staff where all very friendly and their service was incredible. Definitely going to go back!

Great atmosphere for sports, they have a pool table which is great. A wide variety of drinks and beers. Lovely, kind staff. Come here if sports is on and it's a nice chilled relaxing vibe when sports aren't on.

Saturday night and lifeless. No atmosphere to speak of

We come here every Tuesday evening for a few drinks and games of pool. Really friendly staff, prices are good and food has been lovely. It's also quiet so you often feel like you've got the place to yourself. Bring back the smirnoff ice though or keep a few behind the bar for my wife pls 😆

Great Pub / Great Venue - Jay the Manager kept in touch and made sure we had everything we needed for holding works drinks at the pub. Over 30 of us enjoyed good food and good beer. The only thing I would say is that it would have been nice to have the upstairs bar ready when we arrived rather than later! Having said this most of us did not mind at all and Jay was extremely helpful all evening! Great Service. Thanks

Expected more from a Greenking. First time in Basingstoke, really much prefer a pub to stop for lunch. Decided to try, I must say the member of staff was really nice and friendly. The menus and tables looked good. However so many items missing on the NEW menus. It was embarrassing for both me and the server. Decided to go next door!

Love this pub, staff are like family and have remembered my order, they always go out of their way for my daughter when we pop in when I'm trying to avoid McDonald's, great kids menu which is a great hit! Extra special shout out to Shannon, Louise and Charlie!

Thoroughly disappointing - went for a meal with friends, waited quite a long time for food (that was underwhelming to say the least), and during the wait incredibly loud club music started playing, to the point where the bar staff couldn't hear us ordering and got our orders wrong. When we asked if it could he turned down (we were there for a meal, not a club trip, after all), they said it was for an "event", which we couldn't understand as there were approximately 5 guests downstairs and no event going on. So we had to sit in the garden in the cold. Would recommend the McDonald's up the road instead.

I booked the top floor bar at The Bakers for a retirement do. The pub has been refurbished really nicely so the room had a great atmosphere. Lauren was really friendly and easy to deal with and looked after us really well on the night. We had exclusive use of the top floor. If you're looking for a venue for a private function I would definitely recommend it.

Love the Bakers. I have become a regular here because the staff are really friendly and welcoming. Brilliant events too. Lauren and Shannon particularly go above and beyond.

Recently came here for my dads 60th was brilliant service and atmosphere all the staff were great and props to shannon for dealing with the constamt needing of drinks

Visited the top of town recently with some friends and spoons next door had stopped letting people in so we decided to give here a try. What a surprise! Great music and atmosphere, drinks were all served in nice glasses with fruit and the staff were really friendly. Will definitely be back when i'm next in town

My first time going back in to The Bakers after it's reopen and it was such a good night! The staff were all amazing and the service was spot on! They also had live music & a DJ on to keep us all entertained throughout the evening! Excited for next weekend :)

Popped in while visiting friends in the area, the atmosphere was chilled, loved the added touches of candles on the tables. The manager was lovely and the gin selection was to die for. Will be making another stop when I am back in the area.

I noticed Bakers reopened this week and decided to have a look inside, there was signage outside detailing their events for the week so looks like this could be a good bar to visit for different things like happy hours after work or live music and sports on the weekends. Chatting with the barstaff was lovely and she was happy to discuss their collection of drinks (with more soon to come apparently) I thoroughly enjoyed both a pint from the tap and a gin with pretty garnish. From our chatting, this pub has done some great market research and I would recommend trying them out because it was good vibes all round :) hopefully their live events and things go just as well as my visit!

Visited here today for re-opening and everything looks amazing! The pub needed some TLC which it now has. Great range of gin and Lauren the landlady was lovely. Can’t wait to visit again soon!

The bar service was good, they had a new chef so the food took a while but when it came it was good. Beware though there is not much of a vegan/vegetarian option so not the best place to go with 3 vegans.

Stopped in for a drink whilst waiting for a nearby restaurant to open. We had a bit of entertainment listening in to some locals row at the bar. Think it's happened more than once from the sound of it. Bought a Guinness and a strongbow dark fruit, about £8.50.

Food took so long we almost ran out of time on an already long lunch. One of the party’s was served, what can only be described as, yesterday’s pie and mash. The mash had skin on it the gravy was on big lump. The pie had cold bits in it. Sort of reheated nastiness. Not going there again. The toilets were terrible too. Bin liner over the urinal, mirror was broken, as was the soap dispenser. It was all very grubby. When was it all last cleaned? What are the kitchens like? Regretting the outing.

Ordered food and it took nearly an hour to come. The pie was cold in places, the mash tasted like Smash and the gravy was so thick you would have needed a spoon to spoon it out. Not value for money. Stick to what you can do, serve drinks, leave the cooking (or warming up of food) to professionals.

Good food cheap drinks and very very friendly staff! Dog friendly place as opposed to the wetherspoons next door where they ask you to leave even if you stay with your dog in the back garden. Lovely place!
