This is now the Woodyard café and is typical of most NT cafés. The sponge cake was complete so you'd think it would be fresh and moist but was a bit dry. Both the cakes were overpriced. The service was slow with the young woman still bringing out the produce as a a queue formed. The woman at the till was also selecting and plating the cake as she went along.

We visited the garden centre this afternoon. After purchasing plants and gifts in the shop we decided to round our trip off with tea and cake at the restaurant. The restaurant was advertised as closing at 5pm. At 4.11 pm we ordered cake and tea for ourselves We were served our drinks and cake at 4.25pm. We were trying to chat and enjoy our tea but the blonde lady started slamming dishes and making rude comments about still being there in the morning at this rate. She locked all the doors put her coat on got her handbag and glared at us. She asked if she could take our cake plates away we enquired what time she closed and she snapped ten minutes ago. I asked why she served us pot's of tea and cake at 4.25pm if she closed at 4.30pm and she said she couldn't win. ?? We have never been made to feel so unwelcome . She seemed to forget that without paying customers she wouldn't have a job. A little humanity and politeness goes along way when you work in hospitality. We would advise you to avoid this restaurant and go elsewhere.

Sited in the Charleston Garden Store (Garden Centre) at the far end of the indoor sales area. Somewhere to sit and have hot and cold drinks and possibly a “lite bite” during a plant buying session. Virus protection measures in operation. All ok.

Today, after purchasing over £60 of plants and flowers in the lovely garden centre at Charlecote, I decided to treat my wife and daughter to a sandwich and cake in the Bakehouse Cafe to round off the trip. After checking the opening times on the blackboard outside (attached picture) I was surprised and confused when at 15:50 the server Nicky informed me that contrary to the words in black and white at the door, the kitchen shuts at 4 - and if we wanted to buy anything to eat it would be just cake at that time. Her dismissive attitude made it clear enough to me that there was no point questioning the opening times. As I work in hospitality locally I understand that businesses occasionally have to adjust opening times to suit the needs of the business however when you clearly have staff on hand and customers willing to spend money there is no sense in turning down sales. If your opening times need to change, you could have used the convenient chalkboard to update potential guests rather than alienate them and make them feel unwanted. I will undoubtably return to the Garden Centre, however I don’t think I will bother to try the cafe again, let alone recommend to others!

Cannot take dog into cafe but as weather was great we were able to sit at a table outside. Only had a coffee and scone (which was very nice). Quick service and friendly staff.

This cafe is lovely to look at but we were greeted, sorry not greeted by a young man who gave us the greatest vibe of us not being welcome. He didn’t say hello, can I help when we were clearly looking around for a menu. Then when he served us we didn’t get a please or thank you. Very matter of fact and definitely not a happy guy. We were given a voucher of a buy one get one free breakfast that we laughed at as we certainly won’t be using it!

This is an exceptional venue for a first date, with a welcoming ambience of both romance and horticulture. While some might argue the lighting is stark, it adequately serves to illuminate the captivating features of that special someone, and the unhurried service provides ample time to break the ice and get the conversation flowing. If I had to criticise I would suggest that teaspoons were provided as standard, or if not that they were kept in a more convenient location than the small room at the back. Overall though, a thoroughly delightful experience.

We arrived at 11am Sat morning, as expected cafe was half full. We were told that food would be available as soon as possible. Only after we had paid for the full breakfast were we told that mushrooms were not available. Food took 20 mins which is what we had expected but tea/coffee/oj took another 25 so our meals were finished well before we got the drinks, a total of 45 mins after ordering. It was very obvious that the staff were working very hard and busy but they were also very short-staffed. We felt awkward at having to ask for our drinks, felt like we were being a nuisance. Would definitely not come again. Shame as in contrast the garden centre is excellent.

I can only say that the food was delicious, however the price charged for a small bottle of coke was horrendous - we were charged £2,59 per bottle, when you consider that 8 cans of coke can be purchased from a supermarket for £3.00 equating to 37.5p per can, the price charged by The Bakehouse is a joke. Possibly the moral of this story is purchase the food but don't bother to drink here

I genuinely would not bother with this if you are visiting. We called in for breakfast at 9am and were the only customers. The lady taking our order struggled to write it down (not complex, 3 breakfasts 1 each with scrambled, poached and fried, 1 bacon sandwich, 1 juice, 3 teas and 1 toast). The first time she rang it through she only put part through and I had to remind her of the rest. Then one meal arrived substantially after the others and had cold beans. No toast appeared so I asked for it, a large lad ambled over with it and asked to see my receipt which I did not have as I paid contactless. He the launched into a lengthy rigmarole about it not being on the order so I told him that it was but at this point just to take it away. He said no they were happy for us to have it - clearly not! In the end I asked him to go as he was spoiling our breakfast. Then the lady we had ordered from arrived and apologised that she had not realised we ordered it, I pointed out that I had reminded her twice!!!! Incompetent, surly (the lad) and flakey (the lady) come here if that sounds fun.

The cafe was less than half full when we arrived and we were told it was a half hour wait for food, no problem as we were there on a family morning out to buy an Xmas tree. 1 poached egg on toast took 50 minutes to turn up which was completely overcooked and sent back, the people we were with had ordered a full English each which took 1 hour 10 minutes. We got a refund but our young kids needed to eat so when it eventually turned up let them eat, as an apology the cafe gave us two free coffees while we waited for the kids to finish. Unfortunately the complementary coffees took 20 minutes to turn up. As the place started to get busy they announced no more hot food was being served. Complete joke of an operation, young kids at the front of house ( not there fault) and a completely unorganised service. Will never step foot in there again.

Came with my mum after visiting the pet shop, ordered a latte and a flat white which took ages to arrive and when they did the coffees were both really milky and tasted nothing like coffee. The young waitress was apologetic as she said she didn't know how to make the coffees but we ended up leaving without even drinking them. Disappointed.

Called in for lunch today they had just run out of the roasts so ordered ham ,egg and chips well can't go wrong with that can you?Well yes is the answer 1 piece of packet ham admittedly we had 2 eggs but the chips were huge wedge type potatoes definatly not chips they were greasy over cooked if it says chips on the menu surely that is what you should get .So all in all £ 6 95 for 2 eggs and a bit of ham an expensive and not in the least enjoyable Sunday lunch needless to say won't be visiting again .

When I arrived it had only just opened and as it was a rainy day I opted to stay for a cup of tea whilst waiting for the National Trust to open, I was served by a very helpful young man who was working his last shift, we got chatting and he was telling about the local area, the garden centre and his passion for travel, I'm pretty sure this place must get very busy however I was lucky enough to get this place to myself and enjoy a hot drink, this place is worth a look round.

Stopped here when out on a motorcycle ride. The cafe has a rustic look and was a very pleasant place to have a coffee and a bit of cake.We weren't there for very long, but enjoyed our quick stopover. One slightly sour note on the visit, was the insistence of the manager (I think) that we parked our motorcycles at the very furthest part of the overspill car park, in order for the spaces in the main car park to be available for cars!!!

We popped in for a bite to eat when The Orangery at Charlecote was full to overflowing. The scones were lovely and fresh but microwaving them is always going to be problem. The english breakfast was good value although a bit more tea in the pot for your pound would be a welcome improvement. There was plenty of room and a choice of table or sofa, inside or out which was nice. Basic tea shop menu and good service but somehow the place lacked a certain something. Perhaps we were just a bit put out that we couldn't get something at Charlecote, but I was a bit disappointed with the Bakehouse.

My son and I had lunch here today towards the end of a cycle ride. Although I have cycled past here hundreds of times over the 20 years I've lived here, I never knew there was such a fabulous cafe in the garden centre. We had paninis, hot drinks and cake, all delicious, a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Very clean and welcoming. I will definitely come back and start planning more cycle rides around a cafe stop here!

Visited here for lunch after giving up on another local garden centre restaurant. The restaurant is behind the garden centre and is tastefully decorated in a rustic style. As we are on a low carb régime we each ordered a free range mushroom omelette and drinks. The omelettes were delicious and they had heeded our wishes that they should be quite well done (can't abide runny omlettes) the came with a nicely dressed side salad. Considering there was only one person in the kitchen and one taking orders the service was excellent and the food very reasonably priced. They pride themselves on their fresh ingredients and I noticed they scored the top rating for hygiene. I just hope not too many people read this review as I'd like to keep this jewel to ourselves!!!PS there is a wonderful selection of cakes

The food here is lovely, the venue nice if not a bit chilly in winter ( grab a seat by the fire). However today I asked if they had a gluten free menu and the answer was a curt "no". I then looked at the menu and said "but you have jacket potatoes, they are gluten free". The girl wrote down jacket potato on her pad. I said "i haven't decided yet - look you have an omelette too, that's gluten free" - she looked at me blankly as she stood behind a sign which told customers to speak to staff about their allergies!!If I hadn't been so hungry I would have moved on but ordered an omelette which was delicious. The lady who served it, who I assume was the chef, was incredibly polite and friendly. More staff training needed guys.

Visited here on a Saturday afternoon having driven my disabled mother here especially (for some strange reason she likes it). We arrived at 3.46 to be told they had closed at 3.45 and would not serve us, despite the cafe still being nearly full. I know they have to close at some point, but 3.45 for a place serving tea and cake is ridiculous. What made it worse was the terrible attitude and rudeness of the poorly trained teenage staff who really couldn't care less. We asked to see the manager but she had already gone home. Won't be returning.

Visited several times mainly for Sunday lunch as it tends to be a popular destination for family gatherings. The food has always been very nice and staff are always very friendly, however I often find that after clearing my plate of Sunday Roast I still feel rather unsatisfied. The portions of meat don't tend to be very generous and leave you wanting more. I'd happily pay extra if that meant I could get fully stuffed! Instead I had to satisfy my hunger with a rather large piece of chocolate cake which was very scrumptious indeed!

Being from the local hospitality industry I understand the frustrations of customers requesting non profit making items, however I was saddened to find the narrow minded ness of the staff when refusing to offer a glass of tap water.Admittedly I only had a credit card when initially requesting to buy a bottle of still water to be told there is a minimum spend which I wholly understand. on further requesting a simple glass of tap water to enable my daughter to take her tablets ,Which I explained at the time, I was surprised to be turned down. One thing I have learnt in business is that sometimes you have to flex a little to appease customers and gain return visits. As a family we have used the cafe previously on various occasions and given a little more time I would have happily increased the spend This time around. The outcome was that I did not spend in the garden centre or the cafe and unfortunately had to go elsewhere to seek a glass of water. such a shame this incident will taint my previous good experiences of the cafe.

Lovely home cooked food. Warm, light, clean surroundings. A little bit concerned in case a spider dropped on me from the roof because it is an outhouse type building, but it is lovely for all that! There are different types of seating - sofas and tables. Quiet corner too - one lady was breast feeding her baby in it and she had a fair degree of privacy.Staff are friendly and efficient. They eat their own food, so that's a sign of how good it is.Prices are fair. The latte maybe a little overpriced since you don't get a mug full - just a cup, and of course one third of it is froth. But the coffee is good.

The Bakehouse Cafe is one of those perfect, cosy and homely cafes I could happily sit in forever (who can resist a log burner at this time of year?) Not only is the food scrumptious and filling, but the atmosphere is wonderful - it's how cafes should be.Sarah, the lady who runs the cafe, is truly lovely and provides a service which is second-to-none. The Bakehouse Cafe is a lovely cafe at the back of the Charlecote Garden Centre, near the Petshop. It is very homely and cosy especially at this time of the year with the fires burning. There are comfy seats as well as sturdy, wooden cafe table and chairs. The meals we have had here have all, without exception, been delicious but my favourite is the the scrambled eggs on toast - absolutely delicious. There is a lovely selection of cakes but every time I have been I have been too full from my meal to get as far as a cake! The service is very good and everyone very pleasant - chatty and friendly without being intrusive. I have never waited long for the food. The place is clean and well kept and is becoming a regular place for us to visit.
