Aggresily asked to leave the toliet as my partner tried to get his attention as we hadn't orderd and has just got out of the car after 4 hours with holiday traffic. I haven't asked to use the toliet in a place that serves hot drinks as that is the law, we were going to order food. If you look at the hygein it was given a 1 rating in May this year.

Went for a quick breakfast on a Sunday morning. My friends and I all had the full English, very nice breakfast for an inexpensive price! The man working was really lovely. They offered a variety of breakfast items along with a large range of sandwich choices too.

The gentleman serving was friendly and welcoming... food was fine, a bacon bap... The cafe is very tired though,feels you are sticking to the floor and tables..could do with a lick of paint and deep clean... customer loo was an experience!!!! I couldn't even touch the door or light pull...that DEFINITELY needs sorting

Lovely coffee nice smooth and mild as I like it. Had a great scrambled egg plus salmon breakfast. Only small niggle - big screen tv can dominate a bit but volume turned nice and low so we could easily have a conversation. TVs in cafes is a pet peeve but others might like them. Nice owner very friendly. We arrived shortly after opening on a wet Sunday morning and had the place to ourselves. Independent business better than the big chains.

Awful avoid !! If I could give 0 stars I would . Worst breakfast I ever had. The place is dirty. The smell and taste of burnt food is gross.

Coffee was fine. They didn't have much in the way of cakes and pastries when we visited.

Was stood at the till waiting to be serviced while and elderly disabled man came up to pay for his breakfast whilst describing how his food was the guy behind the till proceeded to demand £3 from him, elderly guy was struggling to speak and to communicate the staff member took his money and told him to go away and kept repeating bye bye bye in a rude manor. I told him he was being really rude and will be going somewhere else and he told us to piss of then! I am absolutely disgusted at the behaviour and attitude of this staff member Southbourne is a lovely place full of elderly and disabled and this Man does not belong in this community. I am a regular customer and also live in Southbourne and will not be returning! Where is this nice guy that normally runs this place.

I have never regretted eating somewhere until now.

The worst English breakfast I have ever had, tasted of burnt griddle which is what everything seemed to be cooked on, accompanied by burnt toast. The scrambled eggs were mixed by the milk frother - not sure what would happen if you have an allergy to eggs or milk plus milk frother not wiped. The place smelt of oil and burnt griddle and was smokey and the whole place was dirty you could also see through to the kitchen at the back which looked very unappealing . No health and safety sign visible. One man doing everything. The one star was for the orange juice which was freshly squeezed. Also saw another family of four arrive they sat down and were ignored so after 10 minutes upped and left. I’ve seen good reviews on here so I am baffled seems like they are reviewing a totally different cafe.

What a lovely experience that was. Amazing friendly service, excellent food at reasonable prices, very generous portions too, and the coffee, well that was just lush! We have found a weekly replacement for our usual cafe now. Thankyou ❤️

i come here only for the vegan sausage roll. it smashes Greggs right out of the water. if you're looking for the best vegan sausage roll in town then look no further

Not very happy with the sausages and bacon they are like rubber and aweful taste. Sorry but I am just being honest. Never to eat there again.

Stopped here for a quick lunch bite with my family. Greated by a really lovely guy who took our order, food and drinks arrived really quickly even though the guy was on his own. Nice food, friendly service at a great price.

The sandwiches looked nice and fresh but sadly we stopped here for a fry up and all but the egg was reheated. Not good.

We found this cafe by chance and stopped to enjoy breakfast before a long beach walk. What a treasure! Amazing full English with freshly squeezed orange juice and frothy coffee all served by the nicest guy. Loved it. It’s obviously a locals haunt as it was full of people enjoying breakfast too. Looks like everyone loves it too. Go try it it out too!

Since my first meal at The Bake House, I have been back for more! I have experienced breakfast, lunch and dinner there, both take-away and dine-in, and the service is absolutely great. I arrived very close to closing time once and still the chef turned the grill and fryers back on to accomodate me! The food is fresh, appetizing and very well presented. The decor is fun, pleasant and inviting! There is a wide variety of hot and cold foods - English, American and Greek. Lovely selection of teas - including my favorite, Redbush tea - which I haven't seen in any other restaurant yet. The restaurant is very clean and spacious and I was so comfortable in the place, even after I finished my meal I wasn't in a hurry to leave - and lingered a bit! The staff is very friendly and very easy and intriguing to converse with. I definitely recommend The Bake House for great meals, great service and just an all around great place to be! 5 Stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟‼️ ~ Timeless* Angel

Great value for money. Truly lovely man who served me. Would definitely go back . And recommend. Had a veggie breakfast. (The only reason it isn’t 5 is the mushrooms tasted a little old. Other than that the food was good ) 👍

My mother went here, food appeared to be disgusting and the place seemingly unclean, would not go back food seemed old and out of date.

Had a great experience when having lunch in this restaurant on New Years Day. The menu choices are very extensive. the food is tasty, the prices very competitive and the member of staff very customer friendly competent and capable and extremely efficient. I will certainly be using this facility again when in the area and will be recommending the restaurant to all my family and friends who live locally,

Called in for lunch while in Southbourne. Greeted by a lovely gentleman who took my order. Just sat down and my mug of tea arrived. Within 5 mins my lunch had arrive. Generous portions and very value for money. Nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend to anyone that is visiting Southbourne.

I like the owner, we have a joke and he serves some pretty tasty food and has a wide array of drinks, even does green tea, which i like as its healthy.

The Bake House is a genuine local independent café which I think is a real hidden gem. It looks a bit shabby (which I quite like, personally) but the sandwiches and fry ups are lovely, and super cheap. The service is great- you'll almost always be served by the owner who is super friendly and who knows his community really well. As you'll be able to tell after being there for five minutes, it's a local's eatery, and it's a great antidote if you feel a bit over craft ale and artisan cheese hipsterdom and want to eat delicious food at a low price point. I'd recommend the full breakfast with halloumi, and a chat.

Visited for lunch special chicken or beef burger chips and salad £4.95 generous portions good service tasty food from friendly owner spaced out tables and hand sanitiser available but not asked for details on track/trace plus cash only payments but overall very nice and worth a visit if in area very nice varied menu

I have been in a few times over the last couple of months, and I have to say the service from the very friendly owner is always exceptional. The food is always very generously portioned and and has always been wonderful. Only very small downside is you can only pay by cash.

The owner is friendly, has a good hand to cook adding nice flavours. Price are fair and menu has plenty of options. Place offers seats inside and outside. He also just take cash. Is worth it a visit to eat something.

Our first visit, and very nice it was too. Super-friendly service, delicious coffees and bacon ciapattas, outside table in the sun. We both thought it was pretty faultless and will certainly visit again. Plenty of choice from the menu, including full breakfasts, sandwiches, jackets, etc. Very good value too: £10.50. Level access off the pavement, free nearby on-road parking, bus stop 1min away.

Staff are usually brilliant. I don't know who the young chap was working this afternoon but he was rude and argumentative. Will not be returning as long as they're employed there.

All day breakfast _ mange tout!

my partner and I popped in for breakfast the other day, we both had a full English, absolutely disgusting, the bacon tasted awful I actually had to spit it into a serviette! My partner thought it was some sort of turkey bacon, I ate a spoon full of beans and bit of hash brown. Took the bacon and sausages home for the dogs and even they wouldn't eat it!! Tables were sticky and unclean, sauce bottles were dirty and re filled with cheap watery sauces that weren't the branded ones. Floor was disgusting. Just to make this an even less enjoyable experience we were over charged breakfasts were advertised as £4.90 each (huge sign in window) and we each had a cold drink (£1 each) but were charged £17.90!!! Avoid like the plague there are so many nice places to eat in Southbourne........

Salimos a caminar y decidimos tomar el desayuno y decidimos probar este.El suelo tenía trozos de comida por todas partes y no había sido barrido. También era muy grasosa y un peligro potencial. Las tablas no se habían limpiado correctamente, se podía ver dónde había estado el paño y los trozos que se había perdido.Teníamos el desayuno cocinado estándar. La salchicha tenía un sabor muy barato, el tocino era duro, obviamente precocinado y recalentado, sin sabor a los frijoles. El precio puede ser bajo, pero es barato y desagradable y no volveremos allí

Bueno, debo admitir que no fue nuestra primera opción, ¡pero en realidad salvó el día! !Primero probamos Velo Domestique, luego Ludo Lounge, y un domingo lluvioso, estaban agitados, ruidosos y tenían una espera de 30 minutos en comida.Como es mi cumpleaños, y caminar por la lluvia no era una opción, optamos por Bake House. Soy vegetariano, y los chicos no, y cambié mis huevos por halloumi, mi esposo tenía hongos extra, etc.La comida estaba bien, no Cordon Bleu, pero fue servida con una sonrisa encantadora, llegó muy rápido y el hecho de que el dueño le importara un comino sobre cómo fue nuestra experiencia valió su peso en oro. !El responsable fue feliz, atento y sentimos su interés en hacer que nuestra experiencia sea buena.Los malos críticos deberían estar avergonzados. . . . Si pagas hongos, ¿deberías esperar un bistec? ?En general, un alivio bienvenido de la abarrotada, la corriente principal estafa juntas?

Entonces, para empezar, este café desde el exterior, parece barato pero alegre y está ubicado en una ubicación muy práctica. El precio de los alimentos es bastante barato, pero no diría que fue una excelente relación calidad-precio.Sin embargo, la comida es francamente desagradable y no vale ni un centavo, pedí un queso y jamón tostadas y patatas fritas, además de un batido, que llegó a 8.Para empezar, el batido de leche está etiquetado como batido de helado, pero estaba tibia y en su mayor parte mezcla espumosa lechosa sin sabor.Pasando a las fichas, estaban secas y estoy 99% seguro de que son chips de McCains que pueden haber sido calentados al microondas, puse un poco de salsa de tomate en el plato y se convirtió en una consistencia de agua debido a la cantidad de aceite / grasa / líquido inexplicado en el plato.Luego la tostada, que para ser justos venía con una ensalada de lado encantadora (que era la mejor del lote). El pan estaba seco y el queso era insípido y el jamón no era del todo agradable. Preferiría haber ido a Ludo Lounge y haber tenido un panini y patatas fritas.En cuanto a la ubicación, este café es ideal, no muy lejos de la playa y las tiendas SIN EMBARGO, gastaría su dinero en los cafés vecinos, que tienen mejor comida y bebida.

El Bake House es una gente de cafe. Un alto porcentaje de sus clientes son muy regulares y muchos ir en realidad cada día. La comida es típico café servido en un generoso tamaño de las porciones. No va a ganar ningún premio, pero es bueno. El personal hace el lugar por ser gente muy cálida y amable. Cada calle alta debería tener un café como este. Ojalá que siga de largo.

Estado aquí unos 7 o 8 veces y cada vez que tenía la calidez, el confort, televisión, prensa para su placer, también producía alimentos realizados en frente de usted, con platos de pasta del día, sopas caseras, ensaladas, pasteles y mucho más.Es en Southbourne, que es una zona agradable, cerca del mar. Lleno de gente de todos los habladores, el personal no puede hacer más por ti y están bien educados.

came here with friends and family, there is a lot of food choices, we went for Lasagne and chips and two of us had the paella which was really nice and very reasonably priced.

This is a lovely welcoming cafe and has become one of my regular haunts. Great staff. Very friendly and helpful. Great food too. They are happy to adapt to suit.

We stopped by for lunch tiday and got a warm welcome from the hosts as we walked in. It was obvious by the clientele and repeat customers that this cafe is popular with the locals.

We were struggling to find somewhere to have a light lunch. Most cafes in town were closed between Christmas and New Year so we were pleased to find the Bake House open. We ordered veg' soup which came with delicious Pitta bread. The soup was excellent and so much better than the typical watery veg soup served in cafes. It was tasty, thick and creamy. Couldn't fault the experience.

There are times when you want a decent inexpensive lunch with no frills. The Bake House is a cafe serving paninis, baguettes etc with a choice of 20 or so assorted fillings plus other lite plates,, specials etc. Yes, it is basic but our food was good, the side salad fresh and the chips (not fries) excellent. OK, the drinks were served in transport cafe style mugs and the decor was not inspirational but it is ideal for a midday snack.

Boy are we sorry we ate here before checking their food standard agency cleanliness rating. Which at the time of writing is a 1 as of March 2016. Sat at a table near the counter and frankly I can see why. My wife pointed out a doormat on the floor wedged in the corner and it was filthy. Apart from serving no purpose it looked visually disgusting and dirty. It generally feels grubby in here from front to back. And yes, whilst the staff are friendly and helpful, they're not the ones that are going to be putting in that call to your office to let them know you're going to be off sick that day should you catch something.

Whilst the cakes are lovely, service is fast and the staff are really friendly, it's not the greatest place for an actual meal. I've been several times and everytime i've had a main meal its often been quite tasteless. However it is very nice for a coffee and cake! Also as located in the grove it's great for people watching!

Been here many times over the years since it opened, the staff are great and were very accommodating for my friend who is severely disabled. It's really rare to find such a non-judgmental attitude and genuine warmth towards somebody with a disability. The food is lovely for the price although I wouldn't pay any more than what is currently being charged. I usually go for the BLT baguette and chips with an Oreo milkshake, which is made with fresh full fat milk, none of this semi skimmed rubbish. The milkshakes are better than Shakeaway and a third of the price. Highly recommended. If there is anything you want different or want to omit an item from a cooked breakfast or have an allergy then the staff are always more than happy to oblige. I will always visit this establishment no matter what as this is how every cafe should be run.

This place is more of a café than a serious restaurant. The place seemed full of 'regulars' who seemed to know each other and the staff; this made for a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Great Mediterranean style food. Homemade homous is very good. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. They also do takeaway.

Visited the bake house on three occasions now. It's great for lunch in or take away. Whether you want a baguette, panini, baked potato, lasagne, salads, or classic grills, it's all there. Great selection of fresh barista coffees as well. Perfect for breakfast and lunch. £7 will get you a decent plate of hot home cooked food and a drink.

First time there, we have been served molded cake, the waiter said that the manager was sorry (but he didn't show up), never again...

I come here on the odd occasion and I find that the service in here is always good. Very bubbly atmosphere. Food is brilliant value for money. I look forward to my next visit.

Came here for lunch and had the lasagne and chips, we thought it was packed out with potato though, so as not to use much meat. Still it taseted ok. The service was good.

A wonderful selection of food from sandwiches which are made to order to hot food. The choice of hot food on our visit was curry, lasagne and pasta. The pasta was delicious. .

Had 2 english breakfasts here and jam on toast for my son, eggs not cooked enough they were done on a hotplate, very slimy, bacon and sausage very poor, bacon was awful, sausage dry and no flavour. Not recommended.

Went for breakfast, coffee was nice as was the danish pastry I had. Fry up looked ok and is good value at £4.50 - quite a large menu as well, including milkshakes. Probably would visit again but wouldn't make a special trip.

Used to be friendly atmosphere and nice fresh food. Now stale cake, soggy salad and disgusting toilet where you can see into the filthy kitchen. Spent loads of time here last summer. Won't bother again.

If you are looking for a nice hot cooked breakfast with friendly service I'd advise you to avoid 'The Bake House' we ordered a full english breakfast which when served to us was tepid and very quickly became cold. When I informed the properietor of this he confronted me and quite rudely declared that the breakfast was hot and tested this by putting his hand on top the food and said it was fine. He didn't offer any apoloigy or offer to replace the breakfast & then charged us the full price for the breakfast even though my daughter had ordered a smaller childs portion. When I suggest that an apoloy would have be nice he continued to argue with me that the food was hot. Consequently my family and I will certainly not be returnding to eat there again. A very unpleasent experience with a confrontational and very rude owner who certainly is lacking some very essential skills in customer service!!!

Had an ok fry up here, just what was needed after a late night, it was ok but sausages were over cooked but masses of bacon, proper Heinz & HP sauce so not all bad

went there, the food inspector was there looking grim faced, ordered anyway and immediately felt that the food was dodgy, you could tell the staff didn't give a hoot. My husband found a thick black hair in his food, he told the staff and they never offered a refund or anything even though the environmental health officer was there! fresh squeezed juice was nice but other than that i didnt trust it and left feeling a bit grim! sorry about the bad review but seriously....
