This place is always hit and miss. At weekends the teenagers work there and their attitude is awful. A long haired chap today decided to be very rude when he got the order wrong and the laughed. Such a shame as their other venue the pump rooms is much better environment and customer service.

Poor customer service… We got an ice cream for our son with on a sunny Sunday afternoon but the wooden spatula type stick that came with it was very difficult for both our son and us to use - especially as our son has special needs. I asked the staff if I could have a proper metal spoon - there was a pot of them behind the counter. A staff member said she would ask her manager if I was allowed (!), but unfortunately the manager said we were not allowed a spoon. Our son was getting frustrated and upset, dropping ice cream all on the floor and himself, we tried to spoon feed him but he’s too old for this obviously and he got upset about that. Also we found the flat stick difficult to use too! Bit of a shame . Two stars because it is a good location

An odd one this. It can be a relatively small thing that can redefine what you think about somewhere. I asked and paid for two large americanos with hot milk. I was given two small americanos, no milk. I pointed out the discrepancy to the ‘barista’ who, a bit miffed, poured the small coffees into large cups and topped up with water. When I asked if the difference for the more costly large was just water - the reply was, yes. Can this be right? Tasteless coffee for more money. Given ‘The Aviary’ knows how to charge, this situation was either abject rudeness, or really poor value. Maybe both.

I recently moved to the area and thought I'd give The Aviary a try as it's in the beautiful Jephsons' Gardens. I only ordered one thing, having already been for brunch shortly beforehand, but it was quite good and very well made. I visited on my own, so it wasn't a problem finding a seat, but I can imagine it getting hard/impossible for families, other groups, and couples. As for the staff, they were okay - I did read a few dodgy reviews on here but found them pleasant enough. It would have been nice to have been asked if I was sitting in or not before being given my muffin in a to-go bag - a plate would have been better suited. On the plus side, the cafe is beautifully decorated as well as located. One thing in particular that ruined my visit, though (and I'd like to call to the attention of the owner) was an incredibly creepy older man behind me who behaved in a way that was borderline sexual harassment. There was nobody else behind him for most of the time we were in the queue, but he first moved up so close behind me for no reason that I literally accidentally bumped into him when I turned around to look and see what he was doing (and I'm a small woman - he was about 10cm away!!). He leered at me and started sniggering as I commented, "personal space," then continued to try to start a conversation with me, asking what I was having, despite my obviously having felt uncomfortable. I also had to keep an eye on him, as he kept on trying to get closer to me again, then turning away every time I turned to look at him. I literally had to have my phone out and on record, as I did not know what was going on there. I assume this gentleman is, unfortunately, a regular, as he greeted the staff like it after I had been served. If it helps, he was a middle-aged man, quite tall, with a beard, glasses and a button-down shirt. Some of the male staff members may remember him by his description. I'd appreciate it if the Aviary could please look into this, as, despite quite liking the place otherwise, I would not be back solely due to not having to want to visit somewhere that kind of person frequents ever again. I do look younger than I am (people still think I am a teenager for some reason), which made it even creepier that this dodgy character would "try his luck."

Steak pasty is lovely. Packed full of meat and veg and very filling. Most pasties nowadays seem to scrimp on the fillings and deceive with puffed-out pastry. This pasty was full to the brim with fresh ingredients. Deffo worth a visit if you love a pasty. They have a vegan pasty too if you are that way inclined.

The staff are very insulting and inconsiderate of people’s needs. Seen them miss handling a situation in such a horrible way. There was a young male with another, who I assume was his father or carer. The male in question was clearly special needs and not neurotypical, he became distraught. The other male with them did their best to claim the situation. But the staff were very rude and just wanted them out, they did not offer a kind word in exchange in fact the words that were given were very upsetting and vile, and as a witness made me feel outraged. This was pure discrimination on their part. In a world such as this, a bit of kindness and understanding towards other human beings goes a long way. The staff here did not show that today. Also, their prices are shocking for the size of the drinks served

Today as a customer , I witnessed a very sad sight. A young man, clearly very special needs , ( as his father stated to staff he was autistic) have a meltdown in your cafe. it was quite a severe meltdown. The poor father tired so hard to contain the meltdown in order to protect both his son and customers/staff . I was so saddened by the way staff/management handled the situation ! there was no emphathy or kindness show ! only concern about how it would effect their business . comments from staff/management such as "he's upsetting our customers, sort him out". Due to pressure from the staff/management , the poor father had to physically carry the young man out of the cafe, screaming and crying !! So my advise to The Aviary Staff is - I know we can not understand unless we have lived it , but we can show kindness , and empathy !!!

A visit during the Covid-19 restriction period resulted in being embarrassed by a manager because of my disability. Despite showing a mask wearing exemption card I was not allowed access to the premises and my carer had to shout what was available from the counter to the entrance door. It is a long time since I have experienced or witnessed such discrimination against the disabled. The coffee was reasonable but seriously overpriced for takeaway.

My wife and I regularly drop in here during dog walks for a coffee and bake to takeaway in the park. They make their own cakes and savouries, know what their customers like, and are consistently excellent. So many families and couples from Leamington visit which creates a nice vibe within the park - which is beautiful and has lots of space and walk potential to stay covid safe. Staff are friendly and efficient at dealing with demand - they have to deal with a lot of people but make sure everyone is safe before and during ordering. Muffins and coffee are world class - mine’s the white chocolate, raspberry and blueberry. Home baked dog biscuits too. I’ve really missed work trips to London this year but the Aviary matches the quirkiness and individuality of the very best coffee houses in the capital.

I think the social distancing rules here are too extreme as you have to wait for a long time as its just one person in at a time when there is enough space .. There was a queue to the toilets today. Why not ask people what they want before they enter so they can be served as quick as possible. Because of this we had to go to another cafe.I understand people are scared/concerned about covid however, I just dont think its right to make people queue for ages. Decided to stop in at the end of a run for a takeaway coffee but had no mask. I explained to the man behind the counter from the door who threw a basket of masks at me. I said thank you and he replied “it’s coming out of my budget!” - I would have been quite happy to pay for it as I told him OR he could have taken my order from the door!!! What made it even worse was the man making the coffees was coughing and spluttering all over my drink WITHOUT a mask and there were two delivery men stocking the store room behind the counter also with no masks breathing over everything!! I do hope neither of them had COVID or they will have infected half of Leamington. At least be consistent! I am never stopping there again!! Also NO track and trace checkin!!!

I hadn't planned to go here so I didn't have a mask with me. I had a scarf around my neck which I thought I could use as a mask instead. I entered the cafe having queued outside. Unfortunately I hadn't wrapped my scarf correctly around my face properly. The woman who served me told me "If you want to use the scarf correctly, it needs to go over your mouth and nose," in a no nonsense, rude, abrupt and unfortunate manner. Could this have been said in a kinder way I wondered afterwards? Received a coffee which tasted like an instant instead of Americano which I had requested, or was this a version of one? Paid £2.60 for the privilege. If they're going to take the whole Coronavirus thing seriously then perhaps I shouldn't have been invited to share a milk jug for my coffee which no doubt many others had handled before me... this just topped the whole experience off well and good. I won't be back for more. A beautiful little cafe in a wonderful location but very poor service. We have visited many times before as we live in the area but I have never received such treatment...what a shame.

The range of gluten free options are actually very limited despite advertising. And the prices are rediculous for what you get. I asked what was recommended and ended up with a frittata, for £3.50 I expected it to taste like more then a wet sponge. I went back and spoke to the man who had served me, remaining very polite, simply to ask if maybe I could have something else instead. I was met with a rude smile, and a straight up no without empathy or even a slight attempt at keeping up customer satisfaction. I spent just under ten pounds in there, and I got a teeny tiny "regular" coffee and a slice of disappointment, and it was a massive waste. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

The Aviary not only has the best food in Leamington by a long shot, but the atmosphere and service to complement. The location in amongst the trees in the clock tower square makes for an idyllic rendezvous throughout the year and the atmosphere created by the decor is welcoming, creative yet nevertheless sophisticated: perfectly in tune for Leamington Spa. However, the true charm comes from the staff who never cease to serve with such zest and warmth. Micheal, Jane and Safyia, all family, truly make the Aviary worth coming to for they always maintain a calming and cosy ambience no matter how busy it may be. Therefore my young son never eats here but likes the pre packaged milk shakes. As suggested by the name, The Aviary is tucked away in a Victorian aviary in the centre of pretty Jephson Gardens. It is limited for space and can get quite snug very quickly, although if the weather is good there is ample outdoor seating. The selection of cakes and savouries is not vast but everything is homemade and there are some unusual offerings - particularly for vegetarians. Dogs and babies are welcome and there is usually a good range of both at the weekends! Particularly good for parents with young but mobile children who can run about outside or climb the spectacular tree just outside whilst mum/dad enjoys a quiet coffee.

The service was friendly and the outlook from the cafe is attractive. The only possible shortcoming is the rather limited seating.

Relaxed and happy staff make a pleasant experience. We enjoyed the coffee and our lunchtime selections, but must give a special mention to the Pistachio Cake on offer. Dining outdoor in such beautiful, relaxed surroundings was an unforgettable pleasure.

Anyone who frequents this gorgeous little nugget of coffee-ness will know that Jane prides herself on seasonally creative decoration .. but she’s not alone - anyone in the cafe could find themselves folding , cutting or stamping something ! It’s a broad church . The current theme is Autumn so that the inside reflects the glory of the arboretum in which it is located . So if you fancy coffee and are feeling creative join in ! Or at least come and admire the result over your flat white !

I remember when this was a Avery with birds in! As a bird lover myself would be nice to see some birds back as a feature however, fabulous service from a hard working team.

This place is truly a little gem. Amazingly good coffee (I am really fussy about my coffee) and the food is superb in a beautiful setting whatever the weather.

Lovely setting in the centre of Jephson Gardens and whatever the weather - this is my place of choice in Leamington. The coffee is really good and cake fantastic. Ingredients are high quality and there are some lovely savoury snacks you won’t buy anywhere else.

This is my second visit to The Aviary in Jephson Gardens and will definitely be a regular visit when I’m in Leamington-Spa. The coffee is gorgeous and the white chocolate and blueberry muffin was divine. A great selection of cakes (all freshly baked in the morning) to choose from and friendly staff.

A lovely setting in the old aviary pavilion in the middle of the gardens. Was very popular with mums and seniors with pushchairs and mobility scooters parked outside.

This is such a lovely spot in the park. You can be sure of an extremely warm welcome and a good range of teas, coffees and other drinks and the most gorgeous homemade treats. Weather permitting you can sit outside but it is equally lovely to sit inside and read a book or chat with friends. Love it.

Housed in an ornate pavilion (formerly an aviary), this cafe is set in Jephson Gardens municipal park in Leamington Spa town centre. The building and its interior decor are very attractive. The cafe sells light food (sweet and savoury) and hot drinks - an excellent place for a cake and coffee. Friendly service too. Recommended.

What a lovely little cafe. We went for breakfast both days of our weekend stay and both days the staff were really friendly, the atmosphere inside was lovely and the food was cooked perfectly. Little gem on the locks.

Great selection of drinks, tasters of beers offered with out asking and then you can buy in 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, Pint or 2L. Great way to allow you to try several different beers. Excellent bar staff advising on what to try. Then drinks other than beer, Gins and Rum galore to chose from. Food was really good, good menu and Tuesday is 2for1 on amazing pizzas so we had to try 2 of those. Selection, atmosphere and especially staff really makes it really worth a visit.

We rocked up with 2 large families with young children. The staff were very friendly. Most of us had hot chocolates, and they were probably the best tasting hot chocolates we've had in a long time. And very reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again and recommend.
