Dropped in on a whim when passing. Fantastic pub, friendly staff, decent drinks. Nothing negative to say. Will happily come back another day with friends if I can ever find any...

I was in the area shopping and stumbled across the Avenue. With the stress that is shopping, I decided a cheeky refreshment was needed and had a quick pint. Lovely pint, great atmopshere and I would like to try food if I am in the area again. Other food that was going past me looked great!

We were in the area for work and popped in for a meal after our meeting. Service was lovely, food was good and the atmosphere meant e stayed far longer than intended. We had a great night and look forward to popping in again in the future!!

Visited the Avenue to see a local band we loved and will definitely be back, the drinks were fantastic and the owners Vicky and Lee really made us feel welcome. They were showing the sport on the TV as well and the food looked great. Recommend if you are in the area

I am still in shock at Vicky’s attitude today. When we asked why our meals were coming out in stages, she explained that is normal for a large group and I stated that they clearly can’t cope with large groups even though we had pre-ordered and made the orders very simple for them. I was told, “Have you seen the size of my kitchen?” And “I only have one fryer!” And “I had a table of 11 earlier and they were fine with everything!” Shouldn’t the customer always be right? I feel the response should have been something like, “I’m ever so sorry you have not enjoyed your meals, we have had a problem in the kitchen today and we will try and improve for next time, this meal is on us.” If that was said we would not have felt compelled to write a bad review. The food was awful, smash potato, frozen roast potatoes fried, half roast chicken fried, frozen carrots and cauliflower under cooked, soggy frozen Yorkshire. Half of the group eat half or most of their meals due to be very hungry, 3 people didn’t touch their meals and yet we were only offered 30% discount. To have awful food and a Vicky with a bad attitude made a 30th and 18th celebration feel ruined, such a shame! To then have Vicky not smile and give a dirty look on our way out was just the last straw.

Booked in here as a large party and couldn't have been more disappointed in the place. Food was terrible, service was worse and the atmosphere was non existent. All the veg was frozen, Yorkshire puddings was soggy and microwave cooked, stuffing was just a stodgy ball of tasteless muck and the beef was dry, tasteless and more like shoe leather. Oh and the toasties were deep fried, overcooked and just like mush. The place was dead even though it was a Sunday lunchtime. When we explained to the female manager about the issues with the food all we had in response was that other people were happy with it, complaining that her kitchen is too small and plenty of attitude back. The kitchen looked filthy as did the chef who wasn't even dressed in appropriate clothes or uniform. I'd avoid this place like the plague.

Booked for a family meal to celebrate birthdays but couldn't have been more disappointed. Before we arrived the communication was top notch even though we had an email the night before to say that an oven had broken and they couldn't offer a full menu anymore, only roasts. When we arrived the place was dead, which should have alerted us, still we took our seats and waited for our pre-ordered meals to arrive. They came out in dribs and drabs which meant that most of us were waiting while others meals were sat going cold. We had to chase the gravy to even get it. There was a good 25 mins between the first meal arriving and the last one eventually being brought to the table, after we had chased it several times. The veg on the roasts was all frozen veg and not cooked well at all, the Yorkshire puddings were soggy and cooked in the microwave, the mash tasted like packet mash and the roast potatoes were deep fried, tasteless and soggy. When we spoke to Vicky about the issues we had she became quite confrontational and dismissive of the situation, even asking 'have you seen the size of my kitchen?'. Considering there was meant to be 13 of us, but only 8 had gotten there due to being stuck in traffic, how they expected to manage with such a large group is beyond me. The kitchen looked dirty and the chef was wearing outside clothes rather than proper whites. The other staff members were lovely and very polite but we were super disappointed with Vicky's attitude. Wouldn't recommend eating at this place ever.

Today’s Sunday lunchtime meal at the Avenue has probably been the worst roast dinner I have ever eaten anywhere. We had pre booked a group of 13 of our family to meet up to celebrate my daughters 30th Birthday and my Granddaughters 18th Birthday. We had been asked to give our menu choices ahead of time which we did. My daughter got a message yesterday to say that they were only able to do Roasts due to only having 1 fryer working. We were disappointed but accepted this. Sadly 5 of our party were unable to get there due to the M5 being shut for two hours and then stuck in the queues. They had a fortuitous escape. We alerted the pub to this and decided to go ahead with our booking for the remaining 8, big mistake. The first disappointment was my cola drink couldn’t have ice as the ice machine was broken. It went flat in a couple of minutes too. The second disappointment that I t was a Marston’s pub but had no Marstons beer or indeed any real ale. So we have 1 fryer and one ice machine on the blink. Hmmmmmm There were several notices up saying due to being fully booked they were unable to do walk ins…. We saw one other family group in the beer garden while we were there and that was it. The first 4 meals came out and we sat and waited for the remaining 4, after more than 5 minutes the next 2 appeared and then another 1 leaving my son who is himself a chef in a top Bristol restaurant still waiting for his roast been. We asked several times and were told its coming its coming. The meals however were truly disgusting, frozen carrots that were not cooked properly, Yorkshire puddings that had clearly been reheated in a microwave, they were like sodden rubber not crisp as they should be. The roast potatoes had clearly been done in the deep-fat fryer and from the taste very old oil. My son actually spat his taste of the beef out it was so obviously over cooked in a microwave. I think only my husband ate all of his meal, (he was brought up to always clear his plate) the rest of us tried but it really was quite dreadful. The vegetarian tart was clearly microwaved as it was soggy pastry and very little taste When we spoke to the manager about this she said that she didn’t see a problem a previous group of 11 hadn’t had any complaints, which is not how you deal with this kind of complaint. It was quite obvious that the meals were not right. On the way past leaving I looked at the kitchen through the open door, it didn’t seem very clean and the chef was wearing jogging trousers not chef whites. My order was vegetarian because I do not eat meat, if there was only one fryer how did the chef cook the ½ fried chicken for my granddaughter order and the potatoes for a vegetarian (me) separately? Clearly they hadn’t. If a venue cannot cope with sending meals out at the same time then tell the customer this when they book. Do yourself a favour avoid this place its “mingin”

We needed a venue for our veterans breakfast club meeting. Lee, Vicky and Sharon were brilliant at providing this at The Avenue for us 33 members and nothing was a problem there. Plenty of variety of breakfast buffet with drinks provided. Highly recommend

Great pub this one, and they support the local community in the city. They were able to put on a last-minute event for a big group. Even though it was something a bit out of the ordinary, not the usual ask, they were able to cater for 20+ people. Staff and owners are very friendly.

Freezing cold no heating on ! Waited at the bar far to long for services someone did call to ask for services the staff face when she eventually came to the bar was just rude and not acceptable 😒 then she just nodded her head to say what did I want . Would I go back ? No . However the atmosphere in the other side of the bar seemed a little better where people were having food and slightly warmer

Food excellent better than expected. Bar staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely worth going to. Will make this pub my go too for meals thanks for a wonderful afternoon out

Very disappointing Mother’s Day roast beef dinner today - no choice as how you would like the beef cooked, instead you get what is offered “very well done - any thinner you could read the newspaper through it - such small portions (other than the enormous amount of different vegetables which were very good)” - for sure this roast beef is not roasted in their kitchen but most probably purchased per cooked and sliced then warmed up - staff are very nice but would benefit with some extra table service training

Typical Marston's chain pub doing the same as the others of its type. My gammon was tough, the fried egg hard and the service a bit slow but I wasn't really surprised.

It's rather cramped. Food is ok. Some dishes came out a bit cold and a lot of it was obviously microwaved.

Brilliant local pub! Weekly entertainment!! Used more since Lee and Vicky have taken over than in previous 30yrs we've lived close by!! Reasonable, affordable prices, and great time every visit!! Keep doing what you're doing!!

Our "go to" local for a meal out, excellent as always and especially with 30% off mains this month. Also have Inches cider on draught which is my current favourite. Looked after by Sharon who is great, what more could you ask for?

It was lovely popping down the road to The Avenue with the Wife for Thursday steak night. Steaks were cooked properly and as ordered, free beer with the steak and the Wife was happy with the different flavoured gins & tonics available. Super friendly service as always. The pub is also dog friendly.

We had a wonderful night of skittles at the Avenue, followed by traditional pub food, the Fish & Chip was amazing, we even messed the order up but Team Kitchen sorted it, we couldn't have wished for better hosts with Vicky & Lee, thank you all

Went here for a function, and this was my first visit. What a lovely pub. Large and spacious rooms. Friendly staff, lots to choose from for both drinks and food.

Every time I've been to the Avenue for a meal and socialising with family & friends has always felt comfortable. The food, catering and warmth provided by the staff has been appreciated by me. I have recommended it to many people.

In general, this is a lovely pub with great staff, good food and beers at affordable prices. It's let down a little by the front presentation of the pub which is drab and covered in cigarette butts.

Staff always very friendly. Sharon even remembers what we usually drink!

Nice local boozer, no frills just good pub grub. Nice outdoor space recently done up. Pool table, darts and skittle alley.

We couldn't see a pub garden at the rear but there's a small area outside for smokers and carpark. Unfortunately our food order took a long time to arrive. It would be nice to see some meal choices for gluten or dairy intolerance.

Called into the avenue for Sunday lunch today Was VERY disappointed the food looked like frozen food not fresh and was only luke warm if that it cost just over £30 for 2 meals and 2 drinks I would of been better off spending my money at McDonald's

This is a great place, the food is excellent and the staff are beyond helpfull nothing is to much trouble,the landlady and landlord are great people very welcoming, you can eat in the bar or they have a cosy dinning room,great garden and lots of parking I would highly recommend any one to give it a visit, you won't be disappointed oh and they are dog friendly.

We attended a wedding reception on the 16th July, the food was discusting veg (carrots@peas)was way to hard gravy was like water, and for the desert you had ice cream and 3 little quarters of one strawberry. No one was complimentary about the meal. Would never attend a function there again.
