Asked for large fish and chips, received hard batter with very little fish, feeling ripped off, chips also had a hard skin not nice, I’ll not throw my money away in there again.

Aww chips,floppy,white and unappealing to the eye,the cod batter is too thick and soggy,a light crispy batter can very achieved by adding soda water and a thinner batter mix.

Had fish and chips, very reasonable price, batter on the fish was a bit soggy could have been crispier, chips were just OK, needed another 5 minutes in the fryer, bit too white for me! Wish all chippys would cook the chips properly not serve them white!!

My husband sometimes gets a chippy dinner for here and the chips look frozen thin white and not crispy,the chips are so bad they flop when picked up with a fork, the batter on the fish is always underdone and claggy and doughy for want of a better word,the staff are abrasive and small town mentality,sheeesh ! either change staff or change something for crying out loud.

Although I’ve never had any problems with this chip shop for the past 20 years and the food has always been amazing !! The new owners have decided to be a cash only establishment this needs to change as not all of us can afford the £3 charge (from the atm outside ) and also possible future intrest rates for using credit card for cash ….it is also the 21st century and not everyone Carries cash anymore

The chips we ordered were undercooked and very small. Sausages also not cooked properly while the fish was £10 for a small piece. Never again.

The staff in this shop are horrible . Would never go here again 🤣 . The young blonde girl that surved me was on mute . Didn't even smile once or say thanks 🤡 AVOID .

Having not been here since lockdown I was hoping to purchase an enjoyable meal. Alas, I did not enjoy anything I purchased. The fish was old, tired and hardly edible; my fish cakes were badly cooked and the chips oozed grease. A waste of money.

Ive been here twice lately. I found it expensive, unfriendly and needing a clean. Plus the staff were chatting and not concentrating. The food left a lot to be desired. It was greasy on the whole and the chicken curry was absolute rubbish. It made me feel quite sick and the way it was prepared was unique to say the least. Chicken taken from cooler to microwave over with cheap curry sauce poured over it. Disgusting. Never waste my money again.

always use this chip shop they have the nicest rissoles i have ever tasted and the southern fried chicken the batter tastes amazing i have never had a bad meal and i love the chips. i would like to know where they get their southern fried batter from

The food was terrible the chips were like cardboard as if they had been there ages or just over cooked. The 2 fish bites were dry . And the young girl put a tone of salt over the food as well .

I was starving yesterday and was asked by the wife to go there for her ! When I got there there was not much food in the display cabinets so I asked if they had cheese and onion rissoles 3 times ! The young girl who was working behind the counter ( where it is compulsory to be ignorant) had flaky make up and red nail varnish on her finger nails which she constantly picked until the chips were ready ! This place has gone down hill seriously! We all waited 10 minutes to be served then the miserable owner came in looked at the girls serving tutted and walked back out the back room to avoid complaints ! Total shambles!!

I hate this chippy a) it’s expensive, b) small portions, c) quality of food is bad. Only reason I have something from here is if my mum calls there while passing through. I had chips and the chicken curry which was like £7, I am not a big eater I have one slice of bread with a filling and I’m more or less done but there were 4 bits of ‘chicken’ in the curry (which only tasted of the curry mix powder, and I mean the powder) and the portion size on the chips was more like a child’s portion and most of those were inedible overdone bits. I also hate going here because the staff are so miserable and busy talking to one another whilst serving (so ignorant) they dump a bag infront if you and offer no help to bag your order up. Absolutely terrible all round

Haven’t been here for a while, but used to be a regular. Visited as a family in August and found food had gone downhill then, but decided to give it another go today.Chicken bites are rock hard and chicken inside so rubbery. Tastes like it was yesterday’s reheated and was cold in the middle. Chips very pale and lots of black marks on them! Food served in huge boxes, with the chips barely covering the bottoms. Prices have always been higher than any other chip shop in Llanelli, but definitely not worth it anymore!Always had rude staff, but used to ignore that for the good quality food! Definitely back to Swiss valley chip shop for us for our chippy tea!

I have been going here for twenty odd years being a local..today I went and got served by quite a miserable person who gave a pathetically small portion..I can never usually finish the portions served else where so never expect massive portions but today they didn’t even half full the box that they are now serving the food in ! Portions have dramatically decreased. Most of the chips were the small hard crispy horrible ones Aswell. Total waste of money!.The last few times the food has been quite poor but have given the benefit of the doubt .Will never go again.

I have used this chippy for the last 40 years ,it has always been a friendly family run chippy, however on my last visit at the end of September I was given my chips in a cardboard box,which I can only describe as a pathetically small portion,I immediately commented to the owner who came over and put an extra scoop into the box and he made a point of trying to explain that the portions were the same in the box as in the paper to which I replied, having used the chippy at least twice a week since god knows when, I know what size portions was given before he started using boxes.There's a great chippy in the Bryn only 2 mins away with big portions.

Food was freshly cooked and plentiful. Well worth making the journey out of town for! Rissoles were delicious, fish had crispy batter and nice fat chips

I have been a regular visitor to the Avenue fish bar since it opened at least twice a month sometimes once a week it’s always been pricey as chip shops go but the portions would be very good size I haven’t been for for a few weeks until last week ( due to holidays etc) and they were using boxes .. brilliant I thought when I seen them .. but they only half filled them and I would say that when I put them out on a plate for my family there was about a 1/3 of what they have always sold before.., for the same expensive price .. definitely not worth another trip .. very disappointed.. won’t be going back

Must be the cleanest and tastiest chip shop by far! Rissoles, chips and gravy is outstanding. Not the cheapest but definitely the tastiest. One minor negative is the fish - the batter is not as crusty as you would expect and often very greasy. If that's your thing, you can't go wrong - alternatively, the fish bites are delicious!!.

Over priced and chips are not as nice as they have been in the past. New owner maybe Dunno but I can tell you I won’t go there again.

Avenue fish bar is our very favourite takeaway fish and chips. We've been going there for years, and the quality of the food is the absolute best. Can't imagine anywhere else would beat their food!

First time ive been there for a while as we tend not to want to eat junk food. And when we do i normally go to a chippy about 3 1/2 miles away by the sea side.

Can i make a suggestion?,every time my husband and i get a chippy dinner our favourite FISH & CHIPS,the batter on the fish is gooey on the inside and the rest is too crusty and sticks to the paper so that we end up only eating the white cod,i suggest that instead they use a BEER BATTER,that is both light and crunchy on the outside and also crisp and delicious on the inside,the AVENUE FISH BAR is doing very well business wise and has been called a Goldmine by some,but theyre batter lets them down.

Lovley member of staff served us. Very tasty food, the only complaint was that it was a bit pricey.Meal deals would be good.

I visited the avenue fish bar and ordered 2 fish and chips as I was being served I noticed the chips that were being served had oil running off the stainless steel server I thought it was excess oil just on the serving implement we go back to our caravan which is just up the road and put our fish and chips out onto plates the chips were full of oil and when My wife cut into the fish that also was full of oil and the inside of the batter was very soggy We were so looking forward to our fish and chips we both were utterly disappointed and just scraped both into the bin hence we will not be calling back

After driving from Cardiff to watch the Blues play the Scarlets we were desperate for food . Using trip advisor we found the Avenue Fish Bar. Excellent value with massive portions - too much for me to eat and I'm not often beaten by portion size.

A very clean chip shop the array of foods looked delicious we had home made rissoles and chicken bites and homemade coated ones , chips were cooked to perfection will call again and recommend the place to others .

Always excellent, it does what it says on the title. Excellent food, brilliant service and we will always return.

This is the best chippie in town so much choice all cooked fresh by friendly staff very easy parking and spotlessly clean inside the prices are very reasonable

I have only called here for chips to take away which have always been good, but the parking is shocking and there are always queues, they really need to speed up as i and several people i know have queued for ages then left without being fed, i would never go in the night or at rush hour.

Called in for lunch. Excellent. Only problem was the parking, a bit narrow. However at least there is parking right outside unlike many chippies. I payed 3.40 for a jumbo sausage and chips.

A visit to the fish bar is a mist when I travel through Llwynhendy. The place is immaculate and the fish fresh. They only have one size of chips but if you want a small portion ask for a childs.

called Saturday lunchtime for chips - they were inedible, most likley refried leftovers from the night before, how this place is still trading baffles me. It used to be very good but obviously the people running it now do not give a damn about the quality of the food.Will i visit again not in a million years,

I feel it's my duty to say that i was served frozen chips once whilst waiting for my food,i could have made those at home,their real chips and food in general are very good but the owners let the employees show a less than polite attitude at times.all this because the fryer had a sister that wanted my house once and i refused.

How is the avenue chippy still open? Called there for lunch today after not visiting for 5 years (after a bad experience). Well what can I say, nothing has changed. £5.10 for an undercooked piece of fish coated in far too much batter (also half uncooked and soggy), which was also full of bones, and soggy cold chips. If I remember right, this was exactly the same problem last time I visited. Seems like their standards haven't improved at all. The only thing going up is their rip off prices!The only reason I am not giving this 1 star is because the lady who served me was nice and friendly.

Good fast service with very tasty chips and quite a large fish, The price is more or less the same as any other chipy in Llanelli only you get a lot more for your money.

I popped in to The Avenue as I happened to be passing, having never been in before and having never read any reviews.All I can say is that I did have to wait a while to be served as there was a bit of a queue, but I always see that as a positive thing as it shows a chippy is popular and that the food is being freshly cooked rather than standing around being artificially kept warm.I did enjoy my fish and chips. The chips were well done with a lovely brown colour which is just the way I like them and the fish was lovely and soft inside with a nice crispy batter on the outside.I won't be a regular here, as it's a bit out of my way, but if I'm passing again I'll definitely think about using The Avenue again.

Fish is dripping with greasy, heavy batter...and ALWAYS has bones in it. Staff sometimes friendly, sometimes not. However, the chips are nice.

called in on the off chance for fish nd chips...really disappointed chips were cold and the fish was a lump of grease, on this occassion.so could be back to Miguels for us

Quite often we use the Avenue for fish & chips, and you get a fair share of chips tooooo.Staff always jovial and offer a welcome.

There was a queue for chips in the afternoon and one of the helpers put frozen chips in to fry the cheap happy shopper ones ,i had curry sauce on mine so i didn't notice until i left,i was disgusted,i dont go there for frozen chips i can make those at home anytime,the staff are gossipy and make it an unpleasant experience visiting there...

Nice chips but shame about the gossip mongers that work there bringing the place into disrepute If kind is the new cool this place is" not cool" at all Managment would do well to have a staff shake-up A.S.A.P.....Talk about jelly fisher alert!! better wear some armour walking into this Chip Shop and i'm not talking about the cod...

Had to wait about 10-15 minutes as 3 out of the 4 staff working were cleaning, there were 2 people in front of me. There were a lot of people (who came in after me) but they still had only one person serving, they had 40 minutes till close. No please or thank you once served and when I get home I find batter in my chips!After trying to eat the chips I think the large amount of batter is for flavour, there is none with the chips!

A clean and efficiently run fish bar. Polite staff with good food and a comprehensive menu. Generous portions. Well worth a visit.

Had fish and chips this evening 1.7.2015 I have never ever seen fish like it you needed a hack saw and chisel to cut the batter and an electric knife to cut the fish and as for the chips well they were a gray mash in a pile, couldn't take them back as children were sleeping... have taken a photo and will be put on face book, will never go there again

The older female staff are friendly however the rest are a miserable-looking bunch. The prices are too high for what is a relatively low-paid area of town, and the food isn't as reliably good as it was before. Thankfully the days where you got charged 15p for a tray with a lid have gone, but pricing structure is still a bit ropey (see 'Conning Gits!' review for an example) but I guess the boss has to pay for his new Mercedes somehow....

It's one of the cleanest and tastiest chip shop. I always buy chips here and that's going back many years.The food is always well displayed and the staff are very pleasant.

Visited early evening and was no queue inside.Manager was floating the till and made no acknowledgment at all, young girl took order and that was it.Very over priced food with luke warm greasy chips.Can't blame the staff for poor customer service on the staff when the manager behaves like this.......

A well run fish and chip shop, excellent choice of food and a variety of home made dishes, also well trained staff,the establishment is spotless and has a 5 STAR hygiene rating.Food always freshly cooked and hot,cannot fault the AVENUE FISH BAR in any way.

In my opinion possibly the best chips in Llanelli, always consistent. Not the cheapest but you pay for what you get, really good selection on the menu and gorgeous rissoles. I drive out of my way to get food from here.

Great standard of hygiene and tasty food, but that does not make up for the attitude and miserable disgruntled hard done by faces on the staff. I've seen happier faces on an nspcc advert. Cheer up!

This fish bar is full of miserable women who would rather chat than be respectful to their customers. There always leaning and you don't get a please or a thank you of anyone. The food is extremely overpriced. You more likely to get a smile in the Sahara desert than you are at this establishment.

We call in this chippy the most as its nearer. Parking isn't very good. Its a thin avenue where there are lots of cars. The chippy is very clean and has a wide range of food and drink. Prices are what you would expect from a chip shop in this area.

Best takeaway in the Llanelli area 5 star rating by the food agency, food and the choice of menu excellent. Some reviews should be vetted by TripAdvisor more thougherly, its the best around.

The food is ok. Portions of chips are not enough to feed an adult. (And I am by no way a big eater). Expensive for what you get. Always loads of bones in the fish. And the worst thing about this place is the staff... They are so ignorant and more concerned about having a chat to their colleagues about what they did the night before than finishing serving the customers. When you ask for a bag they just dump it in front of you and take the 5p... All the while you are struggling to rush and put your food in it while they are trying to rush you out the way because they have called the next customer even though you are still at the counter... This place is a last resort for me

I may be being a little fickle here, but if a menu states Faggots, peas and chips they should serve exactly that, and not Faggot peas and chips.The owner should brush up on his retail and contract law, because as he should be aware, even though the menu is merely an 'invitation to treat' once the order has been placed and accepted (and monies exchanged) in the eyes of the law it is now a 'contract'I pointed out to them the acute lack of faggots in the tray but the only response was a shrug from the young girl serving me. Again I pointed to the menu board and someone stepped out from the back proclaiming "oh, yeah, that's my fault!"The Avenue is expensive and overrated. I only went there because Bryn was closed.

This is the best fish and chips I have eaten in the Llanelli area also there is an array of mouthwatering foods on the menu. the shop is spotless clean and the staff immaculate in dress code. Will be a regular client from now on. easy to find with plenty off road parking. also noticed a 5 star award certificate given by Food Agency.

We used to treat ourselves to chips here once a month but the last 2 times we have noticed that the food had gone down hill a lot! The chips are dry and lacking in colour. They look like they have been sat around for a long time.Before the chips were fresh and nice but no more. The curry sauce now seems watered down. It has put us off coming here again which is a shame aftger using this place for so long!!

The food is pretty average, the sort of thing you can get anywhere, For the most part the place looks clean and inviting, until you go inside. The last time I went there, there were about 4 female staff there, most of them standing and chatting as there were no customers. This place is probably one of the most unwelcoming places I've been to; the staff are rude, glare at you, and look as if you're disturbing their personal get together. Never any pleases or thankyous, its like they want to get you out of the door as soon as possible so they can carry on gossiping,I try to avoid this place as much as possible.

They serve fantastic chicken bites - not to be missed. Generous portions on chips too. Used not to be open on Saturdays, which was a bit of an issue in our house, but now they do so all's well!

Recently refurbished from its already modern decoration ( Check out 3x 48 in Panasonic Plasma TV's on walls as menu displays!!).The place is extremely well managed by someone who's been in the business for many years. Food is all excellent for a chippy and this one has best chips and chicken around here.portions are huge and prices reasonable.Always worth a stop when in the area.

The staff there are lovely and they are friendly and happy and always happy to help, there food is amazing great value for money and it is very stylish there and i really enjoy there food and its the best chippy in llanelli.

I've found it surprisingly difficult to find decent fish & chips in Llanelli, and this place was recommended by several people. It does a very acceptable takeaway, with golden chips (a rarity in Llanelli) and generous portions of fish, with good crispy batter. It's not outstanding - oh, how I miss Chez Fred's in Bournemouth with their flaky fish and homemade tartare - but if you fancy fish & chips, it's the best I've found in the area so far. The same simple meal has been very inconsistent (usually undercooked and flabby) in every other local place I've tried.
