I’ve been calling in for a fish and chip lunch on Saturdays for the last few months. Food is consistently amazing, and I’d go so far as to say the best I’ve ever had. The staff are lovely, polite and efficient always happy to serve you. Food is piping hot and every where is spotlessly clean what more could you ask for! See you again very soon x

We were on a weekend away stopping in Basford green and called here Saturday evening. Well what can you say the fish and chips we had were the best ever good portions, everything piping hot and cheap by our standards. The staff so lovely there was 4 staff in there and all took time to chat. The place was spotless. The young man who took my order and has his sights on a medical profession and think with his personality and determination he will succeed . Thank you for a lovely meal

I have called here a few times on the way home from work. Chips are nice enough but although the fish in the counter look nice every time I have bought one the batter next to the fish is raw which makes the rest of the batter soggy. i will call again for chips only but I have given up on the fish completely now.

This fish and chips are are the best round here ,we had a large fish and chips more than enough between us ( we are pensioners) so many chips and enough fish to cut in half . It was hot and appetising .The staff very friendly served me quickly so full marks for the Avenue fish and chip shop ,they sell other food than fish ,pies etc .

We go to this fish and chip shop regularly and without doubt it is the best quality you could get. The shop is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food, whatever you choose is always hot, fresh and well presented. Definitely our favourite takeaway

Watch the staff here, gave me different sized portion to what I asked for to bump up the spend. It was busy when I went in and they clearly couldn't be bothered to cook the donner meat properly. The meat wasn't browned off at all and the tub had so much fat in the bottom it leaked out....disgusting.

The standard of local fish & chips in Staffordshire Moorlands is quite dire. We have tried so many of them, and been disappointed. We then tried The Avenue in Cheddleton, which is apparently under fairly recent new management. What a difference! The fish and chips here are superb. Not the usual flat, greasy, apology for a fish we have had elsewhere, but succulent, fresh fish, either battered or breadcrumbed to your taste. The chips are just as good too, plenty of them and not at all greasy. We have at long last found a fish and chip shop that cares what they serve their customers. Well done you!!

Recently refurbished and now under new management The Avenue Chip Shop is now worth a visit if local or passing by. Nice, well prepared and fried fish , is the centre price of the menu but the excellent chicken kebab should not be overlooked.

With an attached hotel/B&B, this place is convenient and worth a stop when near Durham. The restaurant menu was available to patrons on the pub side ( the "restaurant" side being beyond the bar and pub tables) and was expansive. The pan seared chicken with the garlic mushroom sauce was la poultry perfection, and the seared sea bass was light and deliciously seasoned. The service was attentive and timely, and the prices were an excellent value.

This is a rural fish and chip shop, above average prices, but some good meal deals. I feel the price indicates the cost of the out goings of keeping the local choppy local. The staff are really lovely and food the quality of the food is consistent.

I am appalled by this place. There was one particular waiter a young lad who was just slamming plates on the table he was just really rude. My starter was awful I had garlic mushrooms which were watery and looked like dishwater. Then went on to my main which was a peppercorn chicken breast. The chicken was dreadful, watery peppercorn sauce and the chips were half cooked. I won’t be returning anytime soon

Food is OK, went as football was on....pretty soulless place as are most Greene King establishments. Guinness was the highlight.

Friday lunchtime baguette while walking along canal side. Great location looked lovely pub. Ordered ham baguette came with salad, slaw and skin on fries looked lovely too. The bread was party the part baked baguette that once cooked and cool go stale so quick. Mentioned at end to lady who cleared table that baguette was dry and old. She replied, “yes they always are and do tend to be”. As she walked away Great explanation
